Saw them live a month ago, they sang this song and Claudio was looking at his wife and son stage right throughout the entire chorus. Hit me right in the feels watching that.

So, it’s the father talking to his son. His mother and father are sacrificing everything to make sure he can live on to be the great thing he is destined to be.

Vin gets it. He really gets it.

This one is definitely for the dads mostly.
My son was struggling in school with a teacher that was making his day to day difficult and nearly fearful to just go. I was ready to be the great destroyer because he didn’t know to
call me when I could see that he was being affected by her instability.
A protective parent will do anything to make sure there isn’t anything to hurt their children. Not to be misconstrued as over protective, because there are lessons to be learned for sure. But if you can tell someone is acting as a menace in your kid’s world because they have their own personal issues you don’t hesitate to do what you can to set it right.
At the end of the day, school is school, and you can’t hand pick kindergarten teachers, lol.
But that lady has issues and I’m glad we’re past it.

You guys actually look like the cover art for this album!

You are correct with your interpretation. Claudio has a boy just turned 7 years old. I teared up listening because of the same reason you did.

I'm glad you empathized strongly with this song, it does seem to resonate very well with those who are parents. Lovely video and introspection!

Beautiful reaction to a beautiful song. As also mentioned in the comments below, also check out their song "Atlas", another great song about fatherhood.

I felt the same way on this song as well. I had a son that I didn’t get to have a hand in raising until he was preteen til he moved from me. It’s everything I’ve ever told him, its me and you, that’s what we have. I’ll be your great destroyer, to me is saying ill move mountains for you, anything that threatens you i will defeat, etc. My son is 21 now, but being that wall of a father lasts until he thanks you and helps you unto then end of your life. SO i feel how you feel on this.

Love the reactions, but when you listen to their music you have to remember their is a huge over-arching storyline to almost all of their albums
