Wood ear mushrooms are one of my favorites! I'm with your dad: dried ones last indefinitely and I can rehydrate only as much as I need.

I love these and so does my whole family..so versatile. Everytime my mom flies in she always brings me bags of dried ones. So good with dried mushrooms, lilly stems and chicken..steamed.

wood ear is amazing. i have only started to use it in the last 30 days but i am in love
i have dehydrated/packed blocks of it. just soak for ~1hr in water and you will have more than you can scoop with two hands
i am using it for dumplings and stir fry. also for hot and sour soup! it is truly a versatile ingredient. the texture it adds is so unique and enjoyable

I love watching your dad, and listening to him, it reminds me of my younger years when I lived in Boston.
I love woods ear mushrooms, for the taste and definitely the texture. Your dad is right about the price and shelf longevity. I finally found fresh ones, but wasn’t sure how to store them in the fridge and how long they can last. So I decided to blanch them, in hopes to make them last longer and not spoil. Does your dad have any recommendations on how to store them fresh??? Please let me know!

Love them! Thanks for reminding me I’m all out. Thank you all for the fantastic channel. I need to ask you about how various chow mein noodles are made and used. Fresh, cooked, how they’re made, prepared. Will send you a more in-depth question as I have to find the store menu online in Honolulu Chinatown.

    质量最好的木耳是东北压缩木耳,化学残留少,性价比高。一小盒压缩木耳泡冷水3个小时以上变一盆。质量最好的是压缩的秋木耳,可惜这里没有卖
