I grew up and was raised in a communist country where atheism was the norm. Nobody told there was God. And yet as a very young boy I was trying to persuade other kids that there was One. How did I know that? Nobody was saying anything about Him. I knew it in my heart by nature. Human nature itself is proof of the existence of God. We all know that we are going to die but we never live with that feeling even in old age. Where does that come from? We were made in the image of God.
Whether humans inherently know or believe in the existence of a god is a complex question that intersects with psychology, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, and theology.
People want to believe in leaders, because they are pack animals developed by evolution to look for one. What better imaginary leader can their be than an imaginary perfect one? The bible disproves ITSELF Deuteronomy 18. 21. 22 And if thou say in thine heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? A prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously; thou shalt not be afraid of him. Jesus Lied About Prayer Jesus is quoted many times in the Bible saying that a believer can ask for anything through prayer and receive it. He even goes so far as to say that mountains and trees can be thrown into the sea simply by praying for it. This is clearly a lie, and can be proven to be a lie by any believer. Simply pray for me to be converted to Christianity right away. Or better yet ask God to move the mountains behind my house. He could make a lot of converts that way. If I’m converted today, I’ll post a public apology on my web site and devote my life to spreading the obvious and demonstrable truth of Christian claims. If I’m not converted it would only be fair for believers to apologise and devote their lives to promoting the light of reason, based on sound reasoning, facts and evidence. Here are the quotes from Jesus that proves that the biblical character lied: 1) And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen. “And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (Matthew 21:21-22 NAS) 2) Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8 NAB) 3) Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst. (Matthew 18:19-20 NAS) 4) Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him. Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours. (Mark 11:24-25 NAB) 5) And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Luke 11:9-13 NAB) 6) And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14 NAB) 7) If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. (John 15:7 NAB) 8) It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. (John 15:16 NAB) 9) On that day you will not question me about anything. Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete. (John 16:23-24 NAB) A lot of Christians ignore what Jesus actually says in the Bible. They also tend to add things to the actual words to make them say something else. If you honestly and truthfully read these quotes, without adding to them, it is very easy to see that Jesus is not saying that God will think about your prayers. He says God will grant all your prayers. Clearly, God doesn’t grant all prayers and this proves that Jesus was a habitual liar.
How did you know there was a God? Nature? If nature is the answer, then all the people you were trying to persuade should also know there's a God, and thus why must you persuade them?
For 30 years of my life, I thought like any ordinary atheist there is no God, but at the age of 30, something supernatural happened to me, and God dealt with me in a very painful illness due to a large tumor in my body. When I entered a church by chance, not out of faith, I remembered a friend who was a believer years ago and said to me, “Do you know that I was very sick? I asked Christ and He healed me.” At the time, I did not care about his words because of my lack of faith, but when I was in pain, I remembered that friend. In the church that I entered by chance because it was old and beautiful, I said to myself, “I will try this God.” So I asked God to heal me, and my prayer was simple. I said, “Lord, take the pain from me.” When I opened my eyes, the tumor had completely disappeared. From that moment, I believed in the existence of God and believed that Christ is real and still performs miracles, as written about Him. To this day, I experience supernatural things. Christ is real. God really exists.
Amen brother. And to think all we have to do is ask Him and receive Him by trusting in Him and who He is. GOD bless you richly and may the Spirit of our Almighty LORD and GOD continue to do a great work in you and help your light shine so bright that others around you are compelled by your witness and testimony. When we place our faith in Jesus the Christ, we become the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16) and have the Holy of Holies living IN us, eternity living in us. And that can never be lost once you have been "justified by faith" (Romans 5:1), washed in the blood of Christ "once for all" (Hebrews 10:10). He who believes "HAS eternal life" (John 6:47), and "eternal life" (John 5:24), is "for ever" (John 14:16). "Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. . . ." James 4:8A ❤✝️🙏🔥☝
Thanks be to God that you have experienced the existence, power and love of God. So, I believe that you are not anymore afraid of going back to Him to Heaven, in case you will die with illness.

Sadly, some reject God and turn their back on the creator, others acknowledge Him as creator and give thanks and praise. Scripture also describes it this way, “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road is easy that leads to destruction, and there are many who take it. For the gate is narrow and the road is hard that leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7:13-14. The argument about why doesn't God heal every child in the children's hospital completely overlooks the overall problem of, and solution to death given in the Bible. The Bible says nowhere that everyone who is prayed for will be healed, it just says to pray for the sick. The solution for death is not for every sick person to be healed, because even if that were to happen, what then? Will that person then live for ever, because they got healed from that one disease or injury? No, the curse of sin and death is still upon all of humanity. Even Lazarus, who was raised from the dead by Jesus, eventually died. So what is the solution to sin and death? The blood of Jesus, which covers our sins, and allows us to be raised up on the last day, just as Jesus himself was raised from the dead and then ascended to heaven. That is our ultimate promise. Healing is temporary, salvation is eternal.

If God doesn't exist, then all of humanites' existence is ultimately and emphatically meaningless. There would be no way around that hard fact. If there isn't meaning naturally/ objective embedded in nature/reality whatever meaning we want made up is not truth just by "yes there is" or at least isn't coherent be looking for something that doesn't exist in nature. @LouisPerez-wf1yi _"Life is meaningless without God though."_ As I allude to above, if the only way you can find meaning in your life is with a magical god in the sky, then your life must be very sad.
I will argue the point for the original commentor. You did not get the meaning of what he is saying. No one is saying you can't find your own meaning, that's not the issue at all. The issue is ultimate meaning. Meaning greater than you. If nature is the only thing that truly exists, and God does not. Your very existence is meaningless. It doesn't matter what you find in yourself, your existence bears no relevance. So the question is why exist? Why is there something rather than nothing? Think about it...there's a universe...there's elements, molecules, complexity, and you. Nature made the earth, it made the sun, it made gravity, it positioned everything correctly for life to exist. The correct elements exist for you to exist. All for the sun to eventually run out of fuel and eviscerate everything near to it. The very life it made it just destroyed. There's no meaning to anythings existence. Nothing made itself and destroys itself...no meaning to ever exist in the first place. Wrong. The religious say "something can't come from nothing.' Right? Then it logically follows that either 1. God always existed Or 2. Something natural always existed. Understand that? Then it also logically follows that IF the stupid religious twat tries to argue "nothing can be created from nothing therefore god" Then we apply the exact standards to your god that you apply to out nature and find out that god cannot exist without a creator. It's a dumb argument. If you want special pleading to say that we can't understand god then we can say that you also can't understand the metaphysics of our natural existence. If you want to say god by definition is uncreated I can say naturalistic pantheism is uncreated or just quantum fields or energy are uncreated. If you are allowed special pleading then we are too

He was worshipping a false god that he believed was the one true God, no different than the Israelites with a golden idol in the desert, they believed that was a representation of God, but it was just an empty statue. You can tell when he talks about his god knowing his own future, but God is timeless so past, present, and future do not apply like it does to us bound by linear time.
@runelund5600 Because most that attend do it as their good works for the week. And it's a stop on the way to lunch. They get pretty angry when you show them the correct sabbath day. Not everyone but most church goers don't know hardly anything about the bible.

A 6 year old girl named Daisy had cancer, she was the daughter of a local Pastor. I did not know her or go to their church, but I prayed diligently for her for months before the cancer took her life. Two years ago my sister came down with the rarest and most aggressive metastatic breast cancer known, only 300 cases in the country. Stage 3. They told her “this type of cancer does not respond well to chemotherapy, but it may give you more time”. She under went chemo and radiation treatment as we all prayed for her. I had an assurance God would heal her. After months of very strong treatment they did imaging and were shocked to see it diminished greatly. So much so they decided to do surgery. Appeal to emotion. Human bodies are very complex and unpredictable systems, composed of numerous interacting components. Sometimes people survive major car accidents, while others die from a minor fall out of bed. For instance, brain injuries and hemorrhages are leading causes of death among trauma patients; however, the extent of damage can vary significantly between individuals. Some patients survive, while others do not. This is not evidence of any deity, interfering in life.
can you repeat these miracles though, cos even if they were real things humans do better than god, one person gets lucky maybe and no one knows what the spell is that you have to cast, it's totally hit and miss, so much so you might as well cross your fingers and assume that's what made them recover. on the other hand while jesus healed ONE leper, humans cured leprosy. don't be silly, god isn't real. just ONE person in a hospital gets cured and it's a miracle - god can't be arsed curing EVERYONE though eh.
His will, not ours. The prayers for her to be healed are answered. She’s fully healed, in heaven, with no pain, never to shed another tear again. We should be happy she is with the Lord while we have still work to do and suffering to endure.
This is not an intellectual battle, it’s falsely been made so….its a spiritual battle. Ephesians 6:12. “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”
Actually, it is something of a intellectual battle. It does take a certain amount of critical thinking abilities to get beyond the delusion that leads to blind obedience. Honest intellectual curiosity is not something associated with religion.
I'm a hard core Christian and I wrestle with the INTELLECTUAL question of excruciating pain and suffering. For me and many others It's both an emotional and an intellectual question.
@@Theo_Skeptomai We are not really meant to pray for worldly things. We are meant to pray for our repentance. Invoking God to secure a desired outcome is exactly what pagan divination practices were trying to do.

Sometimes, what we pray for isn't the right thing, or it may be the right thing, but it may not be the right thing right now. God is timeless: he knows the end from the beginning. I have encountered evil and demons in undeniable encounters and seen Jesus transform multitudes of lives.
@@utube1818 I have an experience to share. It isn't an answer to a specific prayer I prayed, but it is a fulfilling of a need that I had not asked for yet. I needed to buy a car, but had not prayed for one yet. Then, I had a dream. In it a Presence was beside me, but I couldn't turn my head to see who it was. The Presence was showing me a brown car that did not impress me at all. In fact I woke myself up saying to the Presence, "I ain't buying no brown car!" The response of the Presence to that statement was laughter; lots of it too, a deep full belly laugh. A few days later my mother excitedly told me about a used car lot she had found and how impressed she was with the owner of it. She said the owner was the first used car salesman she trusted. She pestered me until I agreed to go look at the car lot. When we got to the lot, and she introduced me to the salesman, the first thing I said to him was, "I'm not paying more than $5000.00 for a car." He turned me around and walked me to that very brown car from my dream! Now, I was still determined not to buy that car. So, I asked if I could drive the car to my husband's work place for him to look at it. The owner even let me keep the car overnight because it was late afternoon when we were there. I was certain that my husband and the mechanic that worked there would find something wrong with the car. Nope, the mechanic said if I could get that car for that price I was getting a great deal. So, in a final bid not to buy the car, I said I wouldn't buy it if I had to put even one penny down on it. The owner got financing with no down payment required. I bought the brown car. It lasted over 10 years and only broke down one time in all those years. We were going on vacation in a nearby city, but the car broke down and took all of our vacation money to repair it. Interestingly, there was social unrest that very weekend we had planned to go and the social unrest was in the very area we had planned to stay and people were hurt. The Presence also picked out one more vehicle for me, but not in such a specific way the second time. The second time He only gave me a glimpse of a blue-green streak of color as I was driving again in a dream. Weeks later, I was driving and saw that same streak of blue-green as I was driving in a local town. When I turned around and looked back in the direction I saw the streak of color, I saw a Ford Ranger truck. I knew that was what I had seen in my dream. I bought the truck and it lasted for almost 10 years. When it finally broke down, the mechanic I took it to repair it called my husband and told him it was unfixable and that he didn't know what was keeping it together. I do though. In my opinion, Jesus (the Presence in my dreams) had His hand on it and was holding it together for me. In my opinion, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are AWESOME! One final thought of mine about this argument about whether God exists or not, is this: If believers are wrong and HE isn't real, then we will never even know, but we will have lived a pleasant, happy, loving, and serene life by following HIS instructions, but if we are right and HE is real, then nonbelievers are going to have some serious problems and explaining to do. Good luck and May God Bless you and yours always. :)

Dan's reasons are very personal - which has been answered in the Bible. If he was a former pastor, why did he not read the book of Job? God does not owe us an explanation...as he once told Job. If God is NOT love, then why bother dying in the cross for the crimes you did not commit? If Christ did not exist, why then would secular historians such as Tacitus and Josephus bother or lie about Jesus on their writings? Since evolution cannot be proven to be conclusive (since scientists still dispute them to this day), then why believe a flawed theory? Did he not know that the Universe is still growing and expanding? If Dan doesn't believe that God exists because the bible sows confusion, did he not read the bible through and through...That God will eventually rid the world of evil and bring in peace and reshape the world as it was in Eden? Does Dan not believe in the depravity and evil desires of man? Does not he not acknowledge that man will use religion as means to enslave and commit evil acts? Does he not know that God hates wars, violence, murder and idolatry? Does he not understand that God desires our hearts and a relationship with us? Does he not know that God loves us so much that he honors our wishes and choices? That he gave His own son so we don't have to pay the price of our sinfulness and depravity? Does Dan inquire of God and ask why God chooses not to heal children despite of prayers? That God knows that people who die may die for a reason because God has predestined them to a particular time? Does Dan understand that the eternal is unseen and eternal is physically seen? Does he not consider evil and the natural laws that humanity follows? Do not commit murder, adultery, steal, lie, cheat, etc - are these man made? If so, who has the final authority to say so? Does Dan understand that there are different types of truth that he confuses and dilutes? God intervenes - just as he did for Israel when they crossed the Red sea, just has He did for Samson and gave him his strength back, just as he did for Moses, not to annihilate the Jews in the desert, just as he did for Abraham - to not kill Isaac. God INTERVENES in our lives - we just refuse to recognize it. Does Dan not recognize those who were supernaturally healed from sickness? Or from death...or from dying? Many innocent people die because God wants to give them a new body and keep them away from more pain and heartache. Dan does not believe because his heart is hardened. He refused to believe and have faith that God is sovereign and in control. That God, in his mercy and grace will create a new world that is rid of sin, disease and separation from Him. God's omnipotence is evidence of His love...knowing that Lucifer would fall, that Adam would fall, that many will reject him - because He loves us and sees Himself in us (we can create, bring beauty into this world, love, choose, and live). His love brings justice and righteousness. He is above all His creation - that is why He is Holy. God's sacrifice to redeem humanity through Christ is the essence of his love and mercy - that despite of us, He pursues us. God is just by putting an end to Satan and evil - which will be separated from Him and cast into the lake of fire. But He will not force us, He honors the choice we make. We, who are saved chose Christ...why? Because while we were still sinners and lost, He first loved us and gave Himself for us. Christ chose us and offered Himself as the sacrifice to be restored with God - because God is a family man.
Josephus and Tacitus were only reporting what other people believed and are not accounts supporting that those events actually happened. Some Josephus text about Jesus is considered forgery by majority of historians as well. Evolution is not only conclusive, it is foundational to doing any modern biology at all. And on and on.

Yes, you can. Everyone has the choice. But I simply cannot fathom why anyone would choose faithlessness after experiencing even a brief moment of God's mercy. Sure, the faith of men can be weak. But anyone who believes has experiences faith stretch and contract like a muscle. Faith grows the same. Some people suffer tears and stop exercising their faith instead of asking God for healing or even guidance at the very least. @8:00 This is a very important distinction. The physical reality that we inhabit, governed by the Laws of nature, is a projection _into_ the infinite void (space) .. our creator does not reside here, and so we cannot point to him and say "Look, _here_ is God". The nature of the projection itself is light imprisoned in physical form (lucifer) .. so the worship of anything that is a part of the physical creation is the worship of _Lucifer,_ and not God. We do not create the Laws of physics, we merely discover what is already there, then attempt to understand it .. but being within this creation as we are, we are like a man who has lived his entire life within one house, wondering what the world beyond might look like.

As a Christian I can agree with this ex-pastor on one thing. He made a point that God can't have free choice and be omnibenevolent and omniscient too. On this point I would agree with him. God is limited in the choices that he can chose. God is limited by his nature i.e. his essence, which is pure and good. God can only choose the good and not just any form of good but the best possible good that could be created. When God created this universe, he created this particular universe out of the infinite possible universes he could have created. He created this universe because only in this universe the best possible good will result. The error this ex-pastor makes is he fails to realize that good is superior to evil in every fashion. Many think that good and evil are on an equal footing. That evil is the inverse of good. Evil isn't equal with good; evil is dependent upon good for its very existence. For good can and does exist on its own but evil is by definition a corruption of good i.e. evil can't exist on its own. There's no such thing as pure evil, but God is pure good. Everything that we see as evil has some goodness in it, for good is, has to be the foundation of all of reality. God created the word and said, "it is good." Goodness is the foundation of reality. Then evil crept in, for evil is and always will be a corruption of that which is good.

@@tobias4411 No, your assertion presupposes that the evidence for the resurrection of Jesus means nothing - along with tons of other things. There are only 4% Christians in China, 2% in India, 1% in Saudi Arabia, and 1% in Thailand. This shows very clearly that your place of birth is linked to your belief, which means how likely you are to be 'saved.' Religious variations like this are exactly what we would expect if God is a man-made concept (imaginary) and nothing we would expect if there is one true God who loves us equally. It's obvious that childhood indoctrination, social circumstances, and traditions play a significant role. Your argument of objective truth in religions is flawed. Next problem is there are approx 45,000 denominations of Christianity. I find it highly problematic and this should be a red flag for everyone with a common sense. As you probably know, the Bible states: "Brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, I beg all of you to agree with each other. You should not be divided into different groups. Be completely joined together again with the same kind of thinking and the same purpose." (1 Corinthians 1:10). It also says: "God is not a God of confusion but a God of peace. This is the rule for all the meetings of God's people." (1 Corinthians 14: 33). I can't think of a single book that has caused more confusion than the Bible.

Darwin wrote his book 150 years ago and since then scientific discoveries across all disciplines have piled up enormous amounts of evidence supporting the theory of evolution. It is in fact one of the most strongly evidenced scientific theories there is. And in science the word "theory" has a different definition than in every day language. "A scientific theory is an explanation of an aspect of the natural world and universe that can be (or a fortiori, that has been) repeatedly tested and corroborated in accordance with the scientific method, using accepted protocols of observation, measurement, and evaluation of results. Where possible, some theories are tested under controlled conditions in an experiment. In circumstances not amenable to experimental testing, theories are evaluated through principles of abductive reasoning. Established scientific theories have withstood rigorous scrutiny and embody scientific knowledge. "

It's a lack of faith that defines an agnostic or an atheist. I grew up in a very Christian Evangelist fundamentalist home. I always asked too many questions. Questions that are never answered. The answer is always "you just need to have faith". You have to have a reason to have that faith. Christians believe that they pray to God for answers and God answers their prayers. Right now millions of Christians believe in a presidential candidate that personifies the opposite of Christian teaching. I know a lot about the Bible. I know this candidate is a good example of the opposite of Christ's teaching. Yet so many Christians believe that God is telling them to vote for this person. It makes them feel better but in reality they are all getting different answers while praying to the same God. It's easy to have faith. It's hard to face reality.

As a former senior government scientist, here is a past paper I wrote on worldviews w.r.t the physical realm: Premise 1) Every sentient being with intelligence has a worldview. The latter hopes to explain origins, existence and ultimate reality. P2) a materialistic worldview demands that reality is merely physical: just electrons and protons. If it can't be observed or isolated in a test tube it doesn't exist. Humans are merely the end product of random, mindless processes over which there was no 'end game'. We are just pond goo evolved to a higher order, or as Bertrand Russell lamented, "a collocation of atoms in motion without meaning hope or destiny." P3) for anything to exist now, a) either some state of physical reality has always existed or b) was created ex nihilo (uncaused out of nothing) P4) since our expanding universe could not have always existed and for 3 a) to be true, there must have been an infinite regress of past eternal states: multiverse, quantum fluctuations or brane worlds etc. (see note 1 on the infinite regress fallacy) P5) no scientist, philosopher or mathematician I've heard of believes in a past eternal dimension of time. Dave Hilbert, a famous mathematician said "Infinity (as an infinite past time) exists nowhere in reality. It remains solely an idea in abstract mathematics" P6) famous cosmologists like Hawking and Krauss have tried to get round the concept of a finite past. Hawking asserted that "because there is a law such as gravity the universe can and will create itself from nothing". (The force of gravity is explained by F= MC². I would humbly suggest there would be no gravity if there is no mass let alone a " law such as gravity." P7) Einstein was not a great philosopher but he did say that we should expect if anything at all on naturalism, a lawless lifeless chaos not the MIRACLE we do observe. P8) so what is Einstein referring to? i)According to Roger Penrose, the initial expansion rate of universe must be accurate to 1x 10¹²⁰ for it to exist at all. ii) there are 32 highly specific physical parameters necessary for the universe to be life supporting (astrophysicist PCW Davies) iii) science began not in Greece or China, but in the west because all the pioneering scientists expected law in nature because they believed not in mindless matter but in a Law Giver. (Kepler, Newton, Pascal, Galileo, Copernicus etc) iv) Galileo observed that the "universe was 'written' in the language of abstract mathematics". Finally Q 1: so which worldview best explains why our finite, awe inspiring, rationally intelligible, abstract law abiding, life supporting universe exists: mindless matter or an atemporal non-contingent, rationally intelligent, immaterial cause? (and why)? Q2 are we merely a highly evolved collection of cells or transcendent beings defined by our love of abstract beauty, Joy, wisdom, truth, justice, morality, meaning and destiny? Q3 which worldview has the necessary intellectual framework to answer such questions: atheism or theism? Note 1) "infinite past?" Can the INFINITE exist anywhere in the physical realm? 1† Consider the following analogies: an infinitely long ladder where each rung represents a unit of time, such as a day. The present time represents the present rung we are on now. For an infinite past or future to be a reality then the ladder would have an infinite number of rungs. Every step on the ladder previous to today must be ascended for an infinite number of times from the past if we are to reach the present. (An infinite series is one that is limitless) Ergo, we could never descend from the present to an infinite past, just as we could never ascend to an infinite future from the present. 2† consider also a flower shop with an infinite number of flowers to sell. The owner wants to do a stock take before opening time, so he comes in early one morning. He starts counting his flowers, but could he ever get to the end of his stock such that he might finally open his store? Obviously not! Note 2 So what is Science telling us about the finitude of past time and thus the need for a Creation event? P1 Space / time is finite in the past.i.e. had an absolute beginning (a religiously neutral axiom denied by no scientists or philosopher Ive heard of) P2 matter/ energy in whatever previous state or series of events can only exist in the dimension of time. P3 A cannot create A i.e. matter/E no ergy cannot create itself from nothing, by nothing. Simple proof from Science (relativity), philosophy (infinite regress fallacy) P4 every physical reality that comes into existence is contingent and thus needs a cause. C1 the cause of all physical reality can only be powerful, spaceless, timeless and immaterial. C2 it must be personal in choosing to create it by an act of freewill. C3 it must be powerful to create such an awe-inspiring universe. C4 It must be omniscient (rationally intelligent) in creating a rationally intelligible universe .. C5 In creating a universe that is defined by an incredibly complex set of fine tuned metaphysical parameters, physical constants and abstract immutable laws, their origin and existence can only be found in an immaterial Law Giver. So if Einstein called our universe a MIRACLE rather than a lawless lifeless chaos what should we have expected if atheism were true? .
@PROtoss987 Because the cosmos, at one point, did not exist. The cause of the cosmos, by logical necessity, must be transcendent from the cosmos. The creation must have a creator. To ask, "why can't the cosmos be the cause?" is like asking, "Why does a building need a builder? Can't a building just build itself?" No. No, it cannot.

@cherrysurgeon6922 Well, are you?
For 30 years of my life, I thought like any ordinary atheist there is no God,
but at the age of 30, something supernatural happened to me, and God dealt with me in a very painful illness due to a large tumor in my body.

After EVERY SINGLE ONE of your decisions is dictated and predetermined by your nature (where and when you were born) and nurture (how you were brought up, experiences that you’ve had interacting with others), both of which are outside of your control, then comes god and says “I’ll take pity on him I will and car out whom I don’t like” (I’m paraphrasing).

Mental assent looks so much like faith that many people cannot distinguish one from the other. Mental assent agrees with God but doesn't believe God. When we have mental assent, we merely accept the Word as truth but do not allow it to have an impact on us.
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9-11
Believing in one's heart is the key to being a Christian. The heart and the mind must be in unison. And no one will truly believe in their heart until they feel the weight\guilt of their sin. If you want special pleading to say that we can't understand god then we can say that you also can't understand the metaphysics of our natural existence.
If you want to say god by definition is uncreated I can say naturalistic pantheism is uncreated or just quantum fields or energy are uncreated.

After surgery and more treatment she was declared cancer free. Her Doctor said to her “you don’t understand how lucky you are! This just doesn’t happen with this cancer! Why did God spare my sister and not daisy? I trust Daisy is with Him, I trust God for everything.

That is a circular argument. How can anyone change if there is nothing to change for.
What about Asa and Solomon? Even David? I think God warns us that we are all at risk of falling away.
God hates war? Then why is the Bible full of it at "God's" behest? Why does "God" say, "Happy are those who bash babies heads against the rocks."? Do you have any evidence for all of that word salad you spewed out?
The bible answers nothing. Its a collection of fantasy stories designed to fool the extremely gullible and the low-in-IQ

Exactly right. He says that prayer has a failure of outcome, but God will not grant anything that thwarts eventual good. I believe all prayers are answered, but sometimes the answer is no for that very reason.

Jesus Lied About Prayer
Jesus is quoted many times in the Bible saying that a believer can ask for anything through prayer and receive it.
Here are the quotes from Jesus that proves that the biblical character lied:
1) And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen. “And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (Matthew 21:21-22 NAS)
2) Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8 NAB)
3) Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst. (Matthew 18:19-20 NAS)
4) Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him. Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours. (Mark 11:24-25 NAB)
5) And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Luke 11:9-13 NAB)
6) And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14 NAB)
7) If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. (John 15:7 NAB)
8) It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. (John 15:16 NAB)
9) On that day you will not question me about anything. Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete. (John 16:23-24 NAB)
A lot of Christians ignore what Jesus actually says in the Bible.
The sheer quality AND quantity of the comments in support of Dr. Lennox and those relating to diagnosis of the fallen pastor have encouraged me a great deal, giving me a hope for the body of Christ and the faithful remnants of believers in Jesus.
As a former senior government scientist, here is a past paper I wrote on worldviews w.r.t the physical realm:
Premise 1) Every sentient being with intelligence has a worldview.
We are just pond goo evolved to a higher order, or as Bertrand Russell lamented, "a collocation of atoms in motion without meaning hope or destiny."
P3) for anything to exist now, a) either some state of physical reality has always existed or b) was created ex nihilo (uncaused out of nothing)
P4) since our expanding universe could not have always existed and for 3 a) to be true, there must have been an infinite regress of past eternal states: multiverse, quantum fluctuations or brane worlds etc. (see note 1 on the infinite regress fallacy)
P5) no scientist, philosopher or mathematician I've heard of believes in a past eternal dimension of time. Dave Hilbert, a famous mathematician said "Infinity (as an infinite past time) exists nowhere in reality. It remains solely an idea in abstract mathematics"
P6) famous cosmologists like Hawking and Krauss have tried to get round the concept of a finite past. Hawking asserted that "because there is a law such as gravity the universe can and will create itself from nothing". (The force of gravity is explained by F= MC². I would humbly suggest there would be no gravity if there is no mass let alone a " law such as gravity."
P7) Einstein was not a great philosopher but he did say that we should expect if anything at all on naturalism, a lawless lifeless chaos not the MIRACLE we do observe.
P8) so what is Einstein referring to? i)According to Roger Penrose, the initial expansion rate of universe must be accurate to 1x 10¹²⁰ for it to exist at all.
ii) there are 32 highly specific physical parameters necessary for the universe to be life supporting (astrophysicist PCW Davies)
iii) science began not in Greece or China, but in the west because all the pioneering scientists expected law in nature because they believed not in mindless matter but in a Law Giver. (Kepler, Newton, Pascal, Galileo, Copernicus etc)
iv) Galileo observed that the "universe was 'written' in the language of abstract mathematics".
Finally
Q 1: so which worldview best explains why our finite, awe inspiring, rationally intelligible, abstract law abiding, life supporting universe exists: mindless matter or an atemporal non-contingent, rationally intelligent, immaterial cause? (and why)?
Q2 are we merely a highly evolved collection of cells or transcendent beings defined by our love of abstract beauty, Joy, wisdom, truth, justice, morality, meaning and destiny?
Q3 which worldview has the necessary intellectual framework to answer such questions: atheism or theism?
Note 1) "infinite past?"
Can the INFINITE exist anywhere in the physical realm?
1† Consider the following analogies: an infinitely long ladder where each rung represents a unit of time, such as a day. The present time represents the present rung we are on now. For an infinite past or future to be a reality then the ladder would have an infinite number of rungs. Every step on the ladder previous to today must be ascended for an infinite number of times from the past if we are to reach the present. (An infinite series is one that is limitless)
Ergo, we could never descend from the present to an infinite past, just as we could never ascend to an infinite future from the present.
2† consider also a flower shop with an infinite number of flowers to sell. The owner wants to do a stock take before opening time, so he comes in early one morning. He starts counting his flowers, but could he ever get to the end of his stock such that he might finally open his store? Obviously not!
Note 2
So what is Science telling us about the finitude of past time and thus the need for a Creation event?
P1 Space / time is finite in the past.i.e. had an absolute beginning (a religiously neutral axiom denied by no scientists or philosopher Ive heard of)
P2 matter/ energy in whatever previous state or series of events can only exist in the dimension of time.
P3 A cannot create A i.e. matter/E no ergy cannot create itself from nothing, by nothing. Simple proof from Science (relativity), philosophy (infinite regress fallacy)
P4 every physical reality that comes into existence is contingent and thus needs a cause.
So if Einstein called our universe a MIRACLE rather than a lawless lifeless chaos what should we have expected if atheism were true?
.
How exactly does something which is immaterial gain awareness of its surroundings?

@@turkeybobjr Why must it be a personal being? Why can't the cosmos itself be the first cause?
