  • Hey guys!
    Thanks for watching. I got a lot of requests and questions about hair stretching and how I stretch my hair WITHOUT USING HEAT. So here ya go! I HOPE THIS HELPS! Come back to see me! Please remember comment and subscribe! I appreciate the feedback because I honestly thought everyone understood what I meant by stretched out. Some of you told me you needed to see what I do. I DO NOT BLOW DRY MY HAIR.
    Products
    1. Flexi-rods - Sallys
    2. I moisturize and seal using the LOC method.
    3. I didn't use product in this video because there is already a lot of product in my hair.
    4. I usually just use my favorite moisturizing products.
    5. Product is not nearly as important as technique!
    6. I only use my fingers detangle and manipulate.

    idk why everyone thinks 4C girls hate their hair. Nah, it's just a lot of work to maintain if we just "leave it alone"

      Well, I can see why they do. My mom made nasty comments pertaining to her own hair and she hasn't even seen it. Plus some actually don't. But they shouldn't assume every one does

      Tbh it's a love/hate relationship for me. Just with anything 4c hair has its pros and it's cons but being that it grows from my head I embrace it as it comes. But one thing embracing my natural has taught me is patience BC it takes a whole lot of that to maintain the health of 4c hair.

      It’s the same reason why they think dark skin girls hate their skin. 4c hair, wide nose, dark skin is the epitome of blackness and apparently we are supposed to hate it

      Coconut oil has some protein and I'm 4c and can't handle it, anytime I put any protein in my hair or anything that has a little of it like coconut oil, my hair looks like it's been electrocuted when I use coconut oil on it, There is no one size fits all, we all have different things going on.

    • @katirisherman9169

      I'm not 4c I'm 3c 4a but I'm learning a lot from 4c people when it comes to length retention I have lots of tangles too with wash and Gos and for the hair goal I want which is waist length I'm going to be leaving my hair in twists and doing buns and such with those twists to to reduce tangles shedding and split ends making my hair thicker and longer (I know I'm not 4c so you guys probably have a larger problem with tangles with wash and Gos I'm not comparing my struggle with your struggle pls don't attack me thx)

    • @FortunaFavored
      @FortunaFavored 8 лет назад +1

      +Katiri Sherman I feel you. My hair is 3C in the back, and it still tangles like crazy, but quite a bit less than the other areas of my hair. It drives me nuts just the same. The back section of my hair retains length a lot better, and is much less damaged by wash and gos, which i attribute to the looser curl pattern. So, now when I do twists, i make the ones in the back bigger, out of laziness.

    • @whatliesbeneaththeweave3518
      @whatliesbeneaththeweave3518  8 лет назад +7

      Yes, my friend's hair is 3C, but she does the EXACT same thing I do to my hair for length retention. And she doesn't wash n go either.

      My hair at my crown is just ugh it's dryer and more fragile than the rest the rest of my hair is smooth and soft like warm butter and the crown is so crispy and splits and knots easily it's a nightmare if I want my hair to be at my waist I need to keep it contained my hair has been at my bra strap for a few years because I liked the length but now I was looooong hair in a big fluffy twist out 😍

  • @thenaturalhairclub1777

      "...and have a convention." 🤣🤣🤣 I can't! But I do relate. My wash and go results in a cute little curl pattern.(I think I have 3c/4a in the back and 4b on top and in front), but like she said, after one day of fully shrunken hair, whoo boy, talk about taking YEARS to comb out. Painful but I don't get alot of knots, it just takes extra time to minimize the pain!

      The stretching method you're talking about when they take their loose hair and pull to add tension, wrap it around their head and pin it down with bobby pins placed vertically is called a "doobie". Dominicans use this technique a lot.

      well again we gonna have to add 4z to the spectrum. 4z doesnt hang when shrunk like yours. it cannot respond to flexy rods for longer than an hour. 4z cannot be worn out or else it would dry out and fall out. 4z does not tangle. 4z dont and it just wont. either we add 4z or you need to jump to 4a

      Just had to say, having 4c hair doesn't mean your hair have to be super shrunken or tangled. Even people who are considered to have the same hair type can have hair that acts completely different from each other. Plus the shrinkage would probably be more noticeable with 4a hair bc it's more coiled.

    • @Taj-Mahal

      +Alexcia France probably like they are ruining mine..a bunch of single Strand knots that cause tangles & break the hair. i need to stop doing them but the stretched styles are so much work! maybe ill try the 4 curl formers she showed in the beginning.

    "If your hair's not shrunken right now it's trying to shrink" lmao you're right, to stretch it you could also try braidouts without doing cornrows, I'm normally too lazy to do cornrows anyway and I feel like it comes out fuller if you just do free falling braids

    Thanks for educating me. I'm mixed and my mom always got my hair relaxed so she didn't have to bother with it and now I finally have control over my own hair and I want and need to learn to take care of it and you've been so helpful. I cut off my relaxed hair a little while ago and now it's back to four inches of length but I really didn't understand why it shrunk. So thank you so much cause I'm that 10% that didn't know haha

    Banding is another method. Using hair ties (scrunchies) to tie your hair and pull it taut and tie it again repeatedly. You can do them closer together or farther apart.

    I want to thank you very much! This video has greatly encouraged me in my natural hair journey! I'm African-American with 4C hair and it was very taxing and frustrating to come up with styles that would be worth the effort and that would make my hair tangle into knots of despair! This is such a blessing! Just when I thought about giving up on my natural hair I ran into this video! You really understand 4C. I appreciate you more than you know!!🙌🙃💯

      +loriparis25 ...... I find any thin hair type like 4c hair, loves coconut milk and avocado(it wants protein) but it MUST mixed with conditioner or oils to help detangling and absorption. I know this from experience as, the texture of my hair completely changed(from 4b) after I introduced these 2 on it. It depends on what you put on it(based on what you were born with) that changes the pattern (like perm does but in a damaging way); made sense to me.
      Now it has more of a 3c 4a pattern. My intention was never to change my curl pattern but to help my hair be healthier. Learned all this by accident. I am N😶T promising a curl pattern change here; just sharing my experience.

  • @teewee7285

    Girl my ends r stringy also. I cut them off thinking it was damage. When it grew back. it was the same. The longer it gets the texture changes. It's frustrating. So now I just leave it be.

If I stretch and brush down the curls into a tight bun at the top or bottom of my head, the hairs with the most tension maintain a bone straight texture even after washes. Consistency is key!
