    Purchased a 24 B/E Ridgeline, local diving 23mpg, Test drove all Midsize Trucks, Ridgeline has the most interior room and a smooth ride. Downsized from a 2010 F150 with 173k miles, The Ridgeline is a better ride than my F150 and fits better in the Garage I will never go back to a full size Also at 45k it is less expensive than an equally equipped full size Truck. Has a V6 with no turbo that will last for 200k+ with fewer problems than a 4 banger Turbo.

    I had a nice Silverado. Under 70k miles on it the rear wheel wells started rusting out and the gas mileage was terrible. Realized I didn’t use it that much for truck stuff other than hauling kayaks and hardware store runs. Traded it in for a 21’ Ridgeline black edition and haven’t looked back. Does everything I need and great gas mileage. Get what you need and don’t worry about what everyone else thinks.

    The Ridgeline has all the capabilities of a truck and none of its weakness. I had a Tacoma. The RL drives way smoother, comfortable for long trips, decent hauler, bigger interior, better bed & tailgate, bigger engine, handles better, and it's FASTER! Ya'll need to get over its unibody. For a mid-sized truck, you don't need a body on frame anyway.

      @sammy-gd7hw Because people don't know better. Tacoma is ranked #1 purchase for first-time truck buyers. What keeps it selling is its name. I had Tacoma, Tundra, & Ridgeline. I WANTED the Tacoma. I BOUGHT the Ridgeline. The test drive made it an EASY choice. The Honda has:
    1) Way more space in the front seats. It's super wide, so shoulder room is fantastic. I'm 6'-4" and I have good legroom, and massive headroom.
    2) WAY WAY more space / MORE USABLE space in the back seats. Both for when using with the back seats down for people, and for when the back seats are folded up storing things. I can fit TWO full size bike back there (with the front wheels taken off).
    3) In bed trunk. Man, it's perfect for groceries. They don't slide around like when you put them in a bed. And it's secure/locking/out of site. Perfect for valuables.
    4) The WIDER FULL FLAT BED. Man, hauling 4x8 sheets of anything just got simple. They lay flat in the bed.
    5) The ride, it's great. Quiet. Smooth. Great for trips, or around town.
    6) Outward visibility. You can actually see out in all directions. (In the Tacoma, you sit so low in the cab/the hood is so high, you can't really see what's in front of the taco).
    7) Seating position. The Tacoma seats sit you "on the floor". It's very uncomfortable. The Honda seats are very very good. And are high enough to provide thigh support.
    8) The swing out tailgate is fantastic for getting access to the bed. Either loading, or using the bumper as a step. Magic.
    Dumbest thing I've done in my Ridgeline. I put 1,900lbs of landscape paver in the bed, and hauled them home. (The bed capacity is supposed to be 1,000lbs). Don't recommend...

    Ben, LOL, great video! I need a “truck” that will perform the function of towing a small 2,900 lb camper (any truck rated 5,000 lbs or more will comfortably do that) and I need payload to manage tongue weight, topper/shell, camping gear, passengers, and pet. I want around 1500 lbs of payload. In this comparison, easy, I choose the Ridgeline. Sure Tacomas are great trucks and solid off-roaders. I need function not a life-style vehicle! ;) I am disappointed in the Tacomas and Frontiers in terms of payload despite liking both. By the way, the Ridgeline will actually handle 600 lbs of tongue weight despite only towing 5,000 lbs. Most trucks will run out of payload before running out of tow capacity. Lots to like with the Tacoma, but my truck needs would require that I choose the Ridgeline over the Tacoma; ummm, the Ridgeline is more “trucky” for what I need in terms of hauling.

    I live in UT. The Ridgeline "snow mode" is amazing. I've owened a lot of trucks: Tacoma, F150, GMC Sierra, F250 7.3 Disel etc. I've found the Ridgeline works great for me and fits in my garage. Yes, I have test driven the 2024 Tacoma's twice, but that back seats are to small, seats uncomfortable, ride is ruff. I hate losing my truck trunk. If I was back on the Farm in Idaho. I would get a 1/2 ton truck to haul hay etc.

    Both will last forever. Both are trucks; the Ridgeline has a bigger bed. Most people do not use a truck to half of its ability. If you actually off-road, not just drive on dirt roads down to camp, then buy a Tacoma. If you want a better daily driver that can tow 5000lbs but you usually tow less than 3500, buy a Ridgeline.

    If you are competing in the Rubicon, regularly drive on unmaintained logging roads, haul a 20’ travel trailer/ horse trailer/ bulldozer or multi-car trailer then get a full-sized truck. For everyone else the Ridgeline is better. More room, better ride, better handling, better NVH, a better full-time AWD system, included bed liner and tow package, lockable bed storage, usable / flexible rear seat configuration, lower lift-over height for the bed, swing gate allows easier access to heavy stuff in the bed, and better reliability.
    The unibody actually creates a stiffer , more solid, vehicle.
    The advantage to a body on frame design is not strength, it’s that when applying engine torque to a heavy load the frame takes the twisting force and the body panels are just along for the ride. (Watch a semi start off from a light and you will see the twisting force the drivetrain imparts on the truck ). But, again, your not buying a Ridgeline to tow 12,000 pounds, so the unibody issue is a moot point.

    I don’t know why for 2024 Honda couldn’t put a surround view camera system on the Ridgeline. It would really clinch it for me. You mentioned that you liked the turbo push on the Tacoma. I can only imagine how much of a push the hybridized Tacoma will have. Yeah, the Tacoma can be equipped with the panoramic view monitor so the 465ft lbs of torque that Tacoma will have with the camera system that I like I’ll probably go for that one. 😅

The advantage in low end torque, MPGS, and performance at elevation are worth it to me. I live in the north wind river range in Wyoming and drive at altitude all the time. Turbo performance is worth it to me. 60k miles on mine. Not a single issue. Personally I will never go back to NA engine.

      I’ve owned my 2006 Ridgeline since 2013, bought from original owner with 87,000 miles. I bought it specifically for camping. I have driven it fully loaded on many 4wd only roads where only speeds below 9mph are possible. This truck was purpose built for North America and it shows, much more interior room than a taco, I no longer bump elbows with the person sitting next to me as i did with the Taco. It now has 338,000 miles and about 40 + camp trips on it and i still drive it daily on original drivetrain. Only the starter, power steering pump and front struts have been replaced other than scheduled maintenance. This truck is a beast, my full size truck buddies say the same shit you did and then they drive it and then they start calculating the differences. The Ridgeline bests the Taco and all half ton full size pickups in almost every way and the driving experience is no comparison. Drives like an Audi and is a far more pleasure to drive than some shitbag leafspring suspension truck where you need a chiropractor on speed dial after a trip up the hill.

    • @elche1976
      @elche1976 Месяц назад

      This makes you wonder why it doesn't do more in sales?
      My beef is with the following;
      - ground clearance. Yeah, for simple camping where any car can go is fine. For decent offroad, yeah, no.
      - have you ever had a flat? If you have the bed loaded, you have to unload it to access the spare. Ugh. And then reload it.
      - you bumped elbows in midsized trucks? As a driver I've never done that. How big are you? Are you trying to box out to grab a rebound as if playing basketball. All joking aside... the back seat I can see but as a driver, never ran into that issue.
      - buying a truck, I know the mpg is going to be what it is. If I wanted better mpg, I'd get a car that is designed to get it. I get a truck to tow, haul and go offroad. I certainly would look at other options if a "better ride" was high up my list.
