    Good work! Man, I don't get it....I am well aware that my admiration for the "V" doesn't pay Caddy's bills, as everytime I made a new car purchase and it was in my top three, it never won. I could never get over the immense value their cars have used. I'm back in the market again in 2021....maybe the Blackwing, if they stick to the hype, and don't water it down.

    Yo caddy!
    Give me that escalade dash and mood lighting, and you'd have a loyal customer.

    • @dylanw890
      @dylanw890 3 года назад +7

      Dude, if Cadillac picks up on that, they will sell a ton of these... Imagine having a CT5-V Blackwing with a manual transmission, mood lighting, 32-inch curved LED infotainment screen and the speakers in the headrests from the escalade. Sometimes I wish the head of product development at some of these companies. It frustrates me that a manufacturer with so much history and pedigree for luxury is just going to let their ass get handed to them by the germans.

    Great review bringing some unique perspective I have not heard elsewhere. High level of detail with some good humour. This is an interesting car and for me Cadillac has always been out of financial reach and lacking value - this model changes things - from someone looking to upgrade from a WRX but looking for fast nimble performance with some luxury.

    I see a lot of cars now short shifting and then the trans doing dumb stuff, including Acura. I can't even drive our Acura because the transmission does whatever it wants, in sport/manual mode, it still shifts automatically, otherwise it simply doesn't shift at all when the paddles are activated. I can't stand it when it holds the gear just because I gunned it for 2 seconds up an on ramp.
    I've been away from Caddy for a while, but these new V series are pretty damn good.

    Mike, do you feel like Cadillac's decision to lower the price of the CT5 (relative to the last gen CTS) is a move that will help the brand grow sales in the long run? Although the last gen CTS pushed the bar in terms of luxury, the sales were lack-luster because they priced in direct competition with the German brands. The base 3rd gen CTS started at $47k and the V Sport started at over $60k. Now the base CT5 starts at $37k and the V Series at $47k. Folks do have some gripes about the interior not being as luxurious as they'd like but I do believe that it's reflected in the price so ultimately the value is there. And even tho they dropped the HP from 420 (CTS V Sport) to 360 (CT5 V) it makes more sense as a daily driver.

    • @jamesdyer3507
      @jamesdyer3507 Год назад

      Absolutely correct, as I have a VSport. I have a 2015 VSport Premium 420hp/430ft. Got it 3yrs ago for a STEAL with 3k miles on it and a CPO for half the stick price. The dealer really did not know what he had. I have every option in the car and the final kicker is all of these cars 2014 -19 are limited edition only because of the marketing. They only made 344 total Premium and 321 Standard VSports for that year. The total numbers goes down dramatically each year. 2019 only 77 Prem and 101 standard sold.

    Cadillac has lost its identity. Ok I am biased . Why? Well I’ve driven them for 35 years years . Starting with my 1978 Coupe De Ville. My last two were the 2008 CTS . 2013 ATS Both certified NYS lemons. So bad the Ats broke down a record 26 times. GM officials called me to say sorry. I rang the bell for the worst built car built in 2013. They offered me any vehicle for the same price except an Escalade . I took the full refund and ran like hell. These are nice looking cars . Its not your fathers Cadillac. His was so much better . Clearly made right before 5pm on Friday. Sad . And Cadillac has announced they are going all electric in the future . They are bailing from their own failing product. How I miss miss my 1980 Eldorado.

    I will own a ct5v here soon. Love it. I currently own a 2015 ats 3.6 premium with performance pkg. I love it as well! I still get the "wow" factor everytime I drive it. Warranty is up here in 2021 and time to upgrade? Lol My ats is all blacked out with factory black shiny 19 inch wheels, beautiful.....

    CT5V is what Audi did with their S4 . The S4 was more performance than the 335/C350, but less than a M3/C63. It’s just odd that caddy did the process backwards. But it got people talking. If it was still marketed as a V sport nobody would notice. Who remembers the CTS V-Sport?

    I'm so torn on what to get. I'm a jeep guy. Been in a Mojave Wrangler for 11 years. It's time for a new ride. Not sure if I should get a new jeep or go with something like this. Hell the new jeeps have almost the same price tag as this caddilac.

    Why does nobody ever explain up front that the CT5-V is actually the replacement for the CTS V-Sport? Even then power is down... that being said, I own a V-Sport CTS and had a loaner CT5-V for a week. Both awesome cars, but I’ll keep my old V-Sport. Only thing I liked better about the CT5 was that awesome exhaust.

    This would have been better marketed as the new Chevy Impala. Looks like a Chevy more than a Cadillac.

    I compared one then bought a stinger for over 20k less.Stinger is a better--faster more sporty more reliable car--also has a 10 year 100k warranty.This car is similiar to an A6--i rent a6 Audis on business trips cause this caddy and the Audi are better long distance tourers--seats better and suspension better for long trips then my Stinger.The a6 in sport mode feels like my stinger in comfort--the caddies I have driven sit up high like he said and are better long distance tourers for sheer comfort.BTW because of taxes I rent cars instead of driving my stinger on the 3 or so business trips I do yearly.caddies--maximas and normal audis are better tourers and less sport cars.Not a bad car--but the sportier versions in this class--like Stinger--S5 or S6--some AMG lower end mercedes will dust this in a straight line.

    actually he's wrong. It goes against the 3 series, C class, and A4. Just because it's slightly longer doesn't mean that it's not a comparison. 😬

    Mate, seriously. Redline could be 6250 but torque and bhp curve peaks, right! SD card in the back coz of security since it records in valet mode and this could be critical footage.
