I owned the previous version. This cars a beast! I believe the engine by itself is $43 K U.S. when you punch it at 120 MPH it feels like it is just just getting started. At 150 MPH it downshifts and climbs.
The ct4v black wing def competes with the m3 just as the ats v did against the f80. In fact I drove both and decided to get the ata v back against the f80. It handled better and sounded better. The new m3 rwd manual Va ct4 v black wing is a fair comparison even when modding and I’d still choose it over the g series. The driving dynamic is just very different and feels more engaging in the caddy. Yes the interior is nicer on the BMW but it’s also around 20k more when optioned out. For 65-70k it’s one helluva car and once tuned it’s a beast as is the m3.
Love this car. I got a 2022 with 19k miles fully loaded interior in blaze orange, bucket seats, and no sunroof for extra head room. Got it for $55k. Hopefully it runs me awhile, i was too impatient on waiting for a new one. Its also a 6 speed!!
I think you should redo a lap time for the M2 Competition. I feel like Thomas would get a better time than 1:13.53 now... However, that CT4-V Blackwing seems like a really great car in that segment!
I’ve got a ‘17 ATS-V and I can attest to waiting a year or two and letting depreciation hit. Bought in early ‘20 for about $26K less than sticker. Just an amazing bargain for such a great car. Also, no one believes you have a manual Cadillac lol.

I sold my 2022 M3 base after a year cause the clutch was so mute. After driving a c7 for so long with a great tremac 7 speed manual, the M3's old ZF gearbox and clutch was just terrible and filled me with regret every time I drove it. I would have loved it ha I gotten the comp with the ZF 8 speed auto. I tried to find a CT4 blackwing to drive recently but dealers are still marking them way up. I ended up buying an IS500 and I adore it, but would have loved to compare it to the CT4.
So I went to look at a old 2003 Silverado SS today. The dude had a blackwing, and insisted I drive it. As someone that has never driven anything even close to that performance, the thing was mind blowing to me.
The first throttle house review that I didn’t like. So many backhanded compliments. Plus, You say it’s overpriced then go on to praise it for the rest of the video all the while putting down great numbers at the track.
We've seen seconds shaved off times with better tires before. This car with the carbon fiber pack and actual track tires would jump up that list significantly. Easily ahead of the RS3 lol. That's nuts.
I drove the old CTS-V back-to-back with the CT6 and the ATS-V on a track, and although the CTS-V was incredibly fast in a straight line, the ATS-V was so much more playful and fun in the corners, it was no contest in which one I'd go back for another lap. I do remember noting a distinct lack of front tire grip, leading me to wish for more front tire, as the push came long before the chassis' limits. I can only imagine the lap time this CT4-V Blackwing would have put down with some stickier track tires like the RS3 and M2 that placed above it.
Completely agree. And have to wonder if GM went with SS 1LE wheel size and GY SC3 tires how close in performance (read road course lap times) the ATS-V/CT4V BW would be to CTS-V/CT5V BW.
Couldn't agree more. We picked one up a few months ago and its just getting better and better with familiarity. Ill be blunt, its more fun, more comfortable and more generally rewarding than the m cars ive driven. Screw the money diff, this car is an awesome camaro based counterpoint to the german sport sedans. Also, its about time that someone challenged amg's stranglehold on the american(vibe) luxurymusclecar niche. These are a much better rep for us than the ats/cts were.
I wonder how interesting a twin turbo V6 designed off the 5.5L LT6 from the C8 Z06 would have been for this car. It would be an opportunity to make a motor possibly as special, capable and interesting as the B58.
I had the opportunity to drive one of these really optioned out, curious on your opinion on the manual transmission and the assists it gives you, for example the rewatching and anti stall
Isn't the IS500 F sport sort of a competitor to this? I'm sure the Blackwing excels at the track compared to the IS500 but I seeing they have similar horsepower and the IS has a big 5.0 N/A V8 I figured they might actually be good competitors to each other?
Below are C&D VIR lap times from the Grand Course. Looks like IS500 is really outclassed on track by current and former Mid-size Cadillacs. 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, 2:54.6 2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, 2:55.6 2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe, 2:59.2 2016 Cadillac ATS-V, 2:59.8 2022 Lexus IS500 F Sport, 3:04.9 2014 Cadillac CTS Vsport, 3:06.8

Who knew Caddy would make the best sports super sedans in the world when the ICE super sedans are disappearing. They will be remembered in history.
I have a 22 CT4 Blackwing and I have been waiting ages to see what Thomas had to say about it. Glad you lost the footage and got to live it twice 😂
Quality reviews as always guys. Thank You.
Everyone that reviews either Blackwng always smiles and giggles.
A great blend of form and function, muscle and luxury, sophistication yet playfulness. Oh…and the Cadillac aswell.
bought one of these after owning a c7 with the track pack for 3 years and its every bit as good!
My updated dream garage:
1. 2018 Camaro SS1LE (Manual)
2. 2023 Cadillac CT4-V (Manual)
3. 2023 C8 Z06
4. 2012 Audi R8 (Stasis Extreme Package)
One of the most appealing lines you said: "It has old BMW vibes".
Yes. That's the ultimate compliment.
I owned the previous version. This cars a beast! I believe the engine by itself is $43 K U.S. when you punch it at 120 MPH it feels like it is just just getting started. At 150 MPH it downshifts and climbs.
I love that the CT4v blackwing exists! I would get one if I could afford one!
traded my 2018 M2 for one of these with a manual, absolutely love it
The ct4v black wing def competes with the m3 just as the ats v did against the f80.
That’s a huge statement Thomas! I really hope you get this!
Love this car. I got a 2022 with 19k miles fully loaded interior in blaze orange, bucket seats, and no sunroof for extra head room. Got it for $55k. Hopefully it runs me awhile, i was too impatient on waiting for a new one. Its also a 6 speed!!
The LF4 motor is a beast in its own right. Look at tapout tuning and what they csn do with the ATS-V and the now CT4-V
LF4 will go down as a classic when it's all said and done
Mine picked up ~215whp from downpipes, air filters and a tune. not to shabby.
I hear a few grumbles that it is not as bulletproof as the BMW inline 6.
@@shiftdowntv4511dang what boost is it at now?
@@anooppillai4683other issue is it doesn't have too much character compared to the S58 or alfa GQ V6
Chassis, feedback and handling are better though
@@papa_pt 22-23psi on the dyno. It might be a touch more on the street under real load but the stock gauge only goes to 20 🤣
The gear indicator is yellow to indicate that Auto Rev match is ON
I love these guys and glad they reviewed the car I love so much!
I think you should redo a lap time for the M2 Competition. I feel like Thomas would get a better time than 1:13.53 now... However, that CT4-V Blackwing seems like a really great car in that segment!
I've been waiting 2 years for this video!!!
0:52 cadillac accounting having some fun with canada with that price😆
would love to see the time with better tires. I wonder how much more you could squeeze out of this
I drove the auto Blackwing and it's fantastic
I’ve got a ‘17 ATS-V and I can attest to waiting a year or two and letting depreciation hit. Bought in early ‘20 for about $26K less than sticker. Just an amazing bargain for such a great car. Also, no one believes you have a manual Cadillac lol.
I love that James is terrified of Thomas's driving 😆
James hates being driven faste and drifted with as a passenger, lol awe. I hope he's oka. Such a gem
To answer the question from the video, the gear number turns yellow when you have active rev matching on and it’s white when rev matching is off.
I realized there are no Mclaren videos in Throttle house. They have the repution of being the best sports cars in production and I would really want to know how it does on the throttle house track.
I wish you guys could make an SS 1LE manual vs CT4V Blackwing manual video so badly. Just as overall cars. Nobody has done that even with them both being so closely related. Especially a well kitted Blackwing.
Probably because a well litter blackwing is like 30k more than a Camaro ss
Looking forward to hear a comparison between the CT5 Blackwing vs RS5. Amazing video, guys!
Why would you want that? Audi's are hella dull.
Given Cadillac has committed to F1 in 2028(fingers crossed) one would think their performance cars will be around for awhile. Hopefully they continue to follow through
Thank you for posting this now, I’m winning one of these at the end of the month.
Somehow I missed this review but glad that I found it now. I remember thinking if you guys ever reviewed this car after doing ct5, and even asking on the comments. Now we know the reason… lol
Traded in my Shelby GT350 and Elantra N for this car. It’s the best car I’ve ever driven. It reminds me of a combination of my 22 Acura TLX Type S in terms of comfort and GT350 in terms of performance. It absolutely inspires confidence, fell so in love I went to deposit for a CT5… Cadillac NAILED it.
Love this guys!! Question…would you purchase this or new integra type s?!?
That was well done, you guys do a great job! Cadillac V-Club now has our 1st Canadian Local Chapter, the Toronto Chapter, and we are looking for more Cadillac V-Series owners up in Canada so we can launch Local Chapters in Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary & Ottawa!
"It is not necessary" should be a hallmark of all good videos.
I've not been a GM fan in awhile, but I kind of want one of these.
I’ve been wanting one of these the first time I saw “Ray Donovan” driving it.
Believe it or not these engines can put out A LOT of power
The first throttle house review that I didn’t like. So many backhanded compliments. Plus, You say it’s overpriced then go on to praise it for the rest of the video all the while putting down great numbers at the track.
I always think of Darkwing Duck when I hear of this car!
and spiderman every time I see his name on his helmet lol
LOL darkwing duck was awesome
Great review. I wonder what happened to the M2C lap time. It seems way too slow compared to Supra an M2CS.
Watching them drive together is hilarious - hold on James 😆
We've seen seconds shaved off times with better tires before. This car with the carbon fiber pack and actual track tires would jump up that list significantly. Easily ahead of the RS3 lol. That's nuts.
Amazing content/review!
10:15 why is the bac mono still on top? where is the gt3rs?
Couldn't agree more. We picked one up a few months ago and its just getting better and better with familiarity. Ill be blunt, its more fun, more comfortable and more generally rewarding than the m cars ive driven. Screw the money diff, this car is an awesome camaro based counterpoint to the german sport sedans.
Also, its about time that someone challenged amg's stranglehold on the american(vibe) luxurymusclecar niche. These are a much better rep for us than the ats/cts were.
I now have 1400 miles on mine and I enjoy it more, each time I drive it!
12:47 most British thing I’ve heard in a really long time.
I wonder how interesting a twin turbo V6 designed off the 5.5L LT6 from the C8 Z06 would have been for this car.
It would be an opportunity to make a motor possibly as special, capable and interesting as the B58.
The Holden Commodore lives on.
Man i love caddys
I’m deciding between a ct4 v blackwing and m340 my only thing is how tunable is that blackwing engine
I love a comparison between this and the Gulia Quadrifoglio.
2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, 2:54.6
2022 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, 2:55.6
2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe, 2:59.2
2016 Cadillac ATS-V, 2:59.8
2022 Lexus IS500 F Sport, 3:04.9
2014 Cadillac CTS Vsport, 3:06.8
Dear Cadillac, you make awesome things, please come to Europe!
That's one of the best sounding v6 engines I've ever heard. Really wish we had it in the EU
Can confirm it sounds good but only between 4-6k rpm. It sounds like a tractor below that and it groans close to red line
Good lookin car. Like it infinitely better than anything comparable pricewise from Germany for sure. Probably way cheaper to own over time too. Also i love the way a good V6 sounds. Also drift taxi always in these vids plz
The point when James is talking, stops for a second and says “Jesus Thomas” and hangs on for dear life. Haha.
I’ve been wanting one of these the first time I saw “Ray Donovan” driving it.
CT4V BW will 100% replace my 2020 Mustang PP1
Looking at the Throttle House Leaderboard times again, I wonder where this car would be on that board with Cup 2 tires instead of the PS4S tires.
