What I love most about his performance, other than just the sheer perfection of it all, is how after every line sung by Terry Kath. Every time he finishes his verse, he turns his back to the crowd and towards the Beach Boys. It shows a great amount of respect towards the three guys. So many talented musicians and singers Chicago had. Man we had so many great artists and music from that era. I'm so blessed to have been a kid in the 70's growing up listening to all of that great music and seeing it performed in real time as it was all so fresh. And today this' still sounding great. I knew this was a Chicago recording, I just never knew it was the Beach boys on the harmonies. Of course I should have known, because the Beach Boys had their very own sounding harmonies. @@WhitemenaresoSexy There was a second gun, a .38 cal. that Terry had put to his head and pulled the trigger with, goofing off. He supposedly had been on a 3 day coke binder at this point. Terry was cleaning his 9mm and was asked to stop fooling around with it by his roadie, Don Johnson, whose house they were at. Terry spun his .38 revolver on his finger, put it to his temple, and pulled the trigger. The gun was not loaded. Johnson warned Kath several times to be careful. Kath then picked up a semi-automatic 9-mm pistol and, leaning back in a chair, said to Johnson, "Don't worry about it ... Look, the clip is not even in it." Those were his last words.

suki44883 Peter by no means "sucks" in this clip. Yes, Chicago made a decision to keep making a living instead of sticking with their 70s sound forever. I can hardly blame them for choosing not to go broke, even if I prefer the late 60s/early 70s sound. Today, there is a lot more room for variety on the radio, but in the 70s & 80s & 90s, there wasn't, and if Chicago hadn't changed, it would have been a has-been band like Blood, Sweat, & Tears. Cetera's voice & bass were phenomenal in every era, regardless of the style to which he applied them, even the sappy ballad-y 80s.

Jan 19, 2020: I dedicate this song to Sgt Manuel R. Martinez, 23, who was killed in an auto accident on Aug 22, 1975 south of Santa Fe. Driving back to Albuquerque after a work week at the Farmington mines, he lost control and rolled his 240Z Datsun. He trained as a Marine at Camp Pendleton (radio operator), served a year in Okinawa and was a member of the VFW & Carpenters Union. (Since I was still in high school, we exchanged letters often. By the time I graduated, I knew I had fallen in love with him. Sadly, my psycho mother kept us apart most of the time.) Manuel graduated from West Mesa High School in 1970 and participated in track & field. His shy grin, warm heart, gentle spirit and strong work ethic were endearing traits. Though he liked pretty girls and nice clothes, he was wise beyond his years. *I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you.
