People bought it, couldn't find the home or back button (because there weren't any), got annoyed with making so many swiping mistakes, and returned the phone within a few days.) The swipe gestures were a great one you got used to but most people aren't ready for losing buttons. I loved my Z10 and everyone who used it thought it was cool but the battery life was absolutely terrible. I mean I had three batteries at one point during the day.
dumb idea but would there have been any way to trick applications into thinking they were running on a 1440x1438 display? just cut a couple pixels off each side bruh, would that have fixed the orientation issue Xf

Great video, and totally agree with you! Bring back the Passport on Android. I had an Android Passport in my hands. Android 5.1.1. It was remarkably functional, but it's major issue was the camera drivers weren't supported and the certification for all drivers that were custom made for Passport was too costly on outdated hardware. The 1:1 screen ratio was fine and contrary to popular to belief, the 1:1 was never the issue.

Passport seems a bit wide for pockets, but fine for some sort of bag. I just wish the Priv held up. After I got used to the smaller keyboard, the thought of moving thumbs that far seems unnecessary, though larger hands might have a slight bit of trouble with the Priv, idk. Now I have no idea if the performance issue with the Priv was just bad execution, or if there are real problems with trying to fit the same amount of power into a slider somehow. But I prefer having something that starts small and gets larger when I'm using it over having one device that's that much bigger in the first place. It makes so much sense that I have a hard time understanding why the market thinks that literally no one wants it.
Is there still a market for the BlackBerry Passport? If so, what would it go for? I have a Silver edition and was wondering about selling it. Although I think it has great features, I never used it much, as I decided a Priv was better for me. I'm hoping the Priv will last until the new BlackBerry is released. My SE is like new, even still has the clear screen cover in place.
I wish BB could have made a email app for Droid. I have used them all and the only good email devices were blackberry. Apple and Android email are horrible.

is this passport SE phone running OS 10 better compare to the Android version? I just think BB Passport is cute and classic and maybe I should get one extra on Amazon.
Passport was by far the best phone I ever owned. I remember going to Starbucks and making the Apple fan boys mad cause it had wireless charging and looked so dope! The speaker for conference calls was unmatched
Speaker phone capability is underappreciated by manufacturers today. I would pay a premium for a phone I could place in the middle of a small conference table and have up to four people speaking into it.
To be brutally honest, I'm not sure if I want an Android-powered Passport. BlackBerry 10 is still so much better than Android, especially with that Android runtime library app support. It's a shame that the runtime library never get supported to a newer version.
The BlackBerry Passport is my favorite phone and I would purchase one in a heartbeat. Onward, if you do decide to make a modern day BlackBerry Passport please make sure to have the same or better audio quality since this is one of the best sounding phones of all time. Yes, stereo is important and you can hear it. Please reach out to me if you want more details on this or other aspects of the BlackBerry Passport.
I've been using my Priv for 6 years, and unironically it is still alive and well. In my opinion, the only problem with the phone is the utilization of Snapdragon 808, which is also the main reason for the other issues you mentioned. However, compared to the other phones using the same chipset, I would say Priv is not problematic as LG G4.
Im stll holding on on my SE Passport here. been fixed twice since the announcement of new device, so I decided to keep using this (along with my KeyOne) til new device is out...

Ooof, I LOVE my Passport, it’s my favorite device ever, going back to old Sony Ericssons and HTC Wizard on Windows Mobile. I’d much prefer a BB OS10 with updated Android runtime and modern specs, but I’d happily take a new one with Android OS and updated specs, particularly a modern camera array on the back. I’d buy it tomorrow if it were available.
I still have the Passport in white. Don't use it anymore but it still works and still turns heads. Never got the Priv. It was just too clunky. The keyboard looked awful. And based on the myriad of issues users experienced with it, I have dodged a bullet. I also think sticking to the Passport concept and improving it in full Android would definitely be a nice comeback strategy. Now if only they could also get more developers to tailor their apps for this form factor.

Greetings, I ask you, does your BlackBerry passport S E get very hot sometimes? I've had 2 and the first had some details that I could think of, possibly those details, but this one now just has a scratch on one of the bottom edges and it was due to the original Porfirio BlackBerry case. Just that detail and I don't know if the battery is bad but I have a classic and that doesn't happen to a charged one if it is stopped using it, it appears with a depleted battery, which the BlackBerry classic does not do.
I sideload playstore to my passport and it work great, I put Google maps in it, and the battery discharge very quickly I took it off, and use the BlackBerry maps, I still have it, but the Google playstore doesn't want to update anymore, only use it,as a back up for my BlackBerry hub.
I only ever had 2 blackberry phones ever and that was the blackberry curve, both versions. After that I went to apple and then android. Now I use a combination an android device and an iPhone. I don’t see blackberry being popular again the way they were back in the day
As my Key2 broke down 2 weeks ago. I am now using my old BlackBerry Passport and although I miss the Android apps this device is still running perfectly. Still very good quality after 6 years. I even prefer this form above the Key2. #onwardmobility please have a close look at the Passport for the new device and please include the functionalities of BB10 in Android on the new device.
Kudos to the guy (forgot the name who was doing android on BB10 devices). Even though version was 4.2.1, but at least there was the light end of the tunnel....
Couldn't agree more! It remains the best BlackBerry device till date. The tech like Paratek antennnas and Blackberry Natural Sound remain well ahead of its time and haven't been replicated by any other manufacturers.
Meanwhile it's less than a month until 2023 and we haven't heard about a new blackberry and probably won't hear in the near future but we have unihertz with titan lineup.
It's interesting... I loved BBOS. BB7 was a work of art. The 9900/9930 was the best mobile device ever made. I don't "love" BlackBerry Android, but it's the best implementation of the Android OS, and the BB Android devices are exceptionally well made. Having loved BBOS and really like BB Android, why is it that I'm one of the few die hard users that thinks BlackBerry 10 was awful? Jonathan Mase knows BlackBerry.
Blackberry Passport running an upgraded BB10 OS, BBM and supported by alternate media apps is the way to go. Android is definately an inferior OS. I charged and ran my passport a few days ago still works flawlessly - what a pleasure that was after using the Key 2 and Hauwei for the past 2 years. Do a survey. I would buy a few of them.
I would buy a Passport running Android right now. I bought the Titan and while it is a fine phone the keyboard is not a BlackBerry keyboard. The Titan is charged and ready to use if my Motorola Z4 has issues and when I travel for a back up. But a new updated version of the Passport would makes us happy.
I loved my Passport, but I don't really see the purpose of Blackberry devices running Android. I think those are for people who just don't get that BlackBerry needs it's own unique platform. An Android phone with a physical keyboard isn't a Blackberry.
It's very much a BlackBerry. Blackberry has always been about productivity, communications, and security. If they can still pull all of this off using Android, then great. Would their own OS be ideal? Absolutely. But you see how well that played out. I hope one day that it can return to original form, but these new Android Blackberry devices are every bit as much of a BlackBerry.
Passport form factor running the latest version of Android with up to date hardware, how amazing would that be! The Passport had what few phones since could ever have, uniqueness. Nothing looks like it, before or since. It dared to be different and as a result became iconic.
I AGREE PERFECTLY WITH YOUR PROPOSAL FOR US THE GEEKS IT'S REALLY FUSTRING, I EVEN LIKE TO COLLECT A BLACK PASSPORT THAT I DO NOT USE BECAUSE OF THE ANDROID LACK BUT I SOMETIMES HOLD IN HAND JUST TO ADMIRE IT HER WOULD BE THE BEST GIFT IF IT WERE RENOVATED AND EQUIPPED WITH AN ANDROID THAT WON'T BUGG
I hope it won't be a Passport size, it is so unpractical format ! I only regret BB10 from the old ones, but I'm still happy to have it on Android if the BlackBerry survive :)
Yes it does. Look at the Titan. Back in the old days android had to be programmed to support specific aspect ratios and so did apps. Now it adapts to fit automatically, to my knowledge. I believe this happened around Android 6? I could be wrong
Hello just wanted to say really like your channel especially about all the blackberries. I have a problem with my passport it will not accept my password password and it is stuck on try 6 I have reset it several times and it still keeps staying on the same screen istame screen also says enter BlackBerry But it still doesn't do anything hope you can help me out thank you
Couldn't agree more, I still have all my blackberries and am on a Key2. I would use my passport again in a heartbeat, I still keep it charged and I just wish it had Android.
Hi your video was recommend glad I watched. I Agree with all that's been said, in the meantime someone out there must be able to set screen size to top part as android small band under that's left over for bb10 basics. Mxplayer allows you to manually pinch screen to size, see where I'm going with ideas. I've Loved reflashing Rom and installing apps back on. Tried a few things, but I'd love to stick android 8.1 or android 9 on my Blackberry Passport black.

Me too! I would love one
Such great hardware. Absolutely
Meanwhile it's less than a month until 2023 and we haven't heard about a new blackberry and probably won't hear in the near future but we have unihertz with titan lineup.
When in. 2021 you watch a video about blackberry passport from a blackberry passport device
Passport was/is best phone ever, BB10 BEST operating system ever. Forced into BB Key2, you suddently realise just how inferior Android is.
i had the silver phone...blackberry locked me out of the android store...is there anyway of getting the android store to work again???
I don't know. I don't have it on my phones
You are absolutely right TechOdyssey. I loved my passport and I still love it, I need it to be re-incarnated. Please!!!
I wish. That would be great
I would buy a Passport running Android right now. I bought the Titan and while it is a fine phone the keyboard is not a BlackBerry keyboard. The Titan is charged and ready to use if my Motorola Z4 has issues and when I travel for a back up. But a new updated version of the Passport would makes us happy.
Yes. I would totally love a new passport with android
I love this phone. 😢 why didn’t they make it run android.
PP Engineering machines can now flash Android
This guy nailed it. Give the phone android and good specs.
I want one too...get it done!!!
I bought the key one black edition only because passport wasn't android. Loved my passport. Typing currently from keyone
Nice. I love the black edition
I'll say it again..
Passport is the best designed phone ever.
It's up there!
I agree.
Is it true? Passport going to be release in android os??
No. The title says "that never happened"
Passport form factor running the latest version of Android with up to date hardware, how amazing would that be! The Passport had what few phones since could ever have, uniqueness. Nothing looks like it, before or since. It dared to be different and as a result became iconic.
Is there anyway it'll still work after after everything is removed? The text and calls?
Depends on your network
@@TechOdyssey I have TMobile
I would totally get an Android Passport. I sold my BB Passport and teared up. 😥
I would too.
Where can I buy blackberry Passport silver edition cases.
eBay and Amazon
i would buy it - immidiatly - with 2021 specs and 2021 Android... i also accept when the give me different screen ratio for unsopported apps....
I would too!
@@TechOdyssey i think we ne a petition, collect interessting users and send it out to BB
Oh my Dad would've bought 3. He loves his Passport but its toast for support.
Sucb a good phone. I've definitely had several of them.
@@TechOdyssey He's on his second and wants to keep it really but is having major freezing/compatibility issues.
Hi. Would you sell BB Passport SE?
Hello Sir,
Can u please share the from where i can buy tha latest blackberry passport.
Please help i want this phone..
Check resale websites like eBay
i dont think 1:1 really supported by android anymore
Yes it does. Look at the Titan. Back in the old days android had to be programmed to support specific aspect ratios and so did apps. Now it adapts to fit automatically, to my knowledge. I believe this happened around Android 6? I could be wrong
My 2 year old now plays with my passport. Can not throw it out
The Passport is a classic. Pun intended
@@TechOdyssey bought it because you recommended it last year. Thanks. Missing my wide keyboard from the passport thogh
I had a passport which i installed android on, on worked for a few months :(
This is great. But I also want a classic with all physical keyboard and may be touch option. Love from India.
Yes. I would love that. The classic is my favorite
I would use my passport again in a heartbeat, I still keep it charged and I just wish it had Android.
i prefer the Priv do to the aspect ratio mixed with a physical board and a cool slide effect
I will buy the Passport any time and one for my son too
Hi your video was recommend glad I watched.
