I remember taking a whole ton of notes and essays on my BlackBerry Classic, until the device literally died and never turned back on, and forced me to move on. While I don't miss the lackluster app support of BlackBerry OS 10, I fondly remember and miss the charm of BlackBerry hardware and unique cues and features and gesture navigation of BlackBerry OS. And of course, how can I forget that keyboard. It made everyday interaction from texting to writing to searching stuff in documents such a joy. It was such a wonderful experience, and it makes me sad that there's no sequel to the BB Key2.

I'm still using an old Nokia e75. I have 8" and 10" tablets, so I'm quite familiar writing with screen keyboard, but whenever I need to write anything even slightly longer, I immediately take my bluetooth keyboard. And for phone usage, no modern phone comes even close to the usability of a physical keyboard.
Two main reasons: 1,with physical touch and feedback, I don't have to keep my eyes on the keyboard. I FEEL when I have pressed the right key. 2, lack of cursor keys forces me to go "about there" and rewrite more than just the text that needs correction. Almost always, pressing somewhere in the text, the cursor goes close, but not where I wanted.
May be an issue with my skin. Sometimes I need to press a button several times before it actually works. Same with all devices I have used.
Physical keyboard for me. No contest.

I use smartphones but always switch to phone keyboard with t9 prediction, if available, so i can continue typing on without always looking at the phone, less keys =bigger keys - a normal thing on LG, HTC and some Samsung models, now i use huawei and xiaomi neither of which offers that. Neither does iphone, of course.

      @cndgb233 4 года назад +4

@@mikaachren7611 I am in your camp. For me it's not about want but what I need and that is a physical keyboard. I am in the early stages of Parkinson, my hands shake a lot so typing on a slab phone is nearly impossible without 1000's of corrections required or person won't understand what I am texting or emailing. With a physical keyboard I can still function and use a phone. Currently still using a Blackberry Classic but have purchased a new Blackbeery Key2 as a back up once the Classic is dead. So for some of us it isn't about style but necessity to have a physical keyboard.

Using the BlackBerry Key2 BF-006 and have had it since 2018 and have had absolutely zero issues with this phone at all. I seriously abuse this phone and it keeps on rolling no broken glass no errors no breakages but just a fast luxurious build of a phone. (Blackberry/ Android hybrid) It has countless shortcut options which keeps things fun and exciting plus I use all social media platforms with this phone (with ease) from TikTok to Instagram and have been downloading things (apps and movies) without any thought since I got it and have had no memory or capacity issues. Also stream and watch movies on it via NetFlix; Prime and RUclips. I have the full spec version of the Key2 and it's probably the best keyboard phone on the market (but thats just my opinion from over 2 years of daily use and still using at time of writing Jan 2021)

In times of crisis (having to write a thesis) I've bought a 50$ Priv half a year ago. Just note taking and a sporadic phone call. For me the *absolute* killer feature were the shortcuts that gave so much power to the user. Device also felt so good in the hands it's a darn shame BB gave up on the idea and didn't make a 2020 Priv2. I did the thing and sold the Priv (to use it for anything else was more than a pain with Android 6 and was so slow it lagged my input when typing).
Now I'm looking to buy a Key2 or Key2LE to have just a SIM-less PDA for notes and productivity stuff like Todoist and time tracking. For these purposes and more generally to have a workhorse (that's also a conversation starter) the blackberries are still great. I really do hope for a keyboard flagship *with shortcuts compability* somewhere in 2020

2024, and I am craving a replacement for my touchscreen phone with one that has a physical keyboard. I just cannot type on touchscreen. Swipe typing is a predictive error nightmare, though a good idea if it was reliable. Keep the touchscreen for everything else, that's fine. Have a touchscreen keyboard for those who still want it. But please bring back mainstream keyboard phones as an option. I cannot understand why the trend ever went from something which worked brilliantly, to touchscreen typing hell. I know it's all down to personal choice, but those who want a physical keyboard currently have next to no choice.

Unihertz just recently started rolling out a Titan Pocket that’s apparently a smaller version with better software and security, but has the same square screen with a smaller footprint, and it allegedly trades off the water resistance from the original due to being less rugged. Plus, the camera is still pretty bad. Interested to see if you’ll check it out

I cannot understand how people tolerate a phone with no physical keyboard. I will never buy one again. If the android keytwo becomes unobtainable I just won’t bother owning a smartphone, I’ll have to take my laptop with me everywhere I go.

I agree, I switched from a Galaxy Note 9 to a Unihertz Titan and then the Titan Pocket and I've been spoiled by the keyboard shortcuts and tactile feeling of typing. Already preorded an Astro Slide which is the successor to the Cosmo Communicator but with a slide-out keyboard instead of a fold out one.

yeah, my key2 broke out of nowhere and I didn't fancy dropping so much on a second hand one with no warranty after that, so I have a unihertz titan now. Thank fuck for Unihertz, or there really wouldn't be another option.

That surprises me, Daniel, and disappoints me as well. LG has been truly working to keep their phones supported and erase bad will from years past. I would have thought the G8S would be up to date.

FYI. I have a Titan now for daily use. I use my Passport for the built-in Notes app. And my KeyOne (cause KeyTwo is crap) when i am at home, today, because the android apps work so well. I mainly want to say that as a Passport lover, NONE of the cons of the Unihertz Titan are accurately represented in this video. For instance, the number keys are one the keyboard- as shown. You dont need to type on the screen as was stated.

I reluctantly had to get a phone with no physical keyboard this year, after about 3 years with my BB KeyOne. I still miss the typing speed, accuracy, and confidence of it. I would have gotten the Titan if it didn't have such a wonky keyboard layout, and I seriously considered the Fxtec Pro1, but at the time it was not 100% clear it would support features that I needed on my carrier, and they were just barely getting out of the phase where it was taking over a month to get a phone shipped. If I could have, I'd support it for the unlocked bootloader and ongoing strong support from the company and community. The Cosmo Communicator is a beautiful device that I didn't know about at the time, but it would not have been an option as a phone replacement for me. I do want to get one to run as a mini-linux terminal though, and I'll be watching closely for their new phone. Thanks for the great roundup. This will definitely save PKB fans a lot of time in the hunt.

Loving my BB Key2 but... no more Android or Security Updates & the battery is 4 years old. Having used BB's for years I'm tempted by the Unihertz models but can't decide on which one - need to hold and practice before purchasing. The Titan MAY be too big, the Slim, probably a better replacement for the Key2. The Pocket is rugged but small screen and the TikTok is also appealing. All have different specs and advantages/disadvantages - battery capacity (no 5g) and again, out of date Android and patches.
Maybe I'll just wait for Unihertz to bring out an updated model....
Great videos btw. Keep it up.
