  • CW: This episode contains descriptions of SA, DV, and victim-blaming.
Within the music industry, a disturbing reality unfolds as predatory individuals exploit the adoration and vulnerability of young female fans. These cases reveal the dark underbelly of the industry, where the power dynamics between musicians and their admirers are exploited. Young girls, captivated by their idols and entranced by the music, find themselves subjected to the manipulative tactics of those who should be their role models.
This egregious exploitation underscores the urgent need for heightened awareness and protective measures. It serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking behind the scenes, highlighting the importance of recognizing and challenging these predatory behaviors. By shedding light on these distressing realities, society can work towards dismantling the harmful power dynamics within the music industry.
Sexual assault cases are often dismissed by law enforcement, perpetuating a culture of indifference and injustice. Survivors face skepticism, victim-blaming, and institutional barriers when seeking justice. This systemic failure allows perpetrators to evade accountability, sending a distressing message that sexual assault is not taken seriously. Comprehensive training for law enforcement, specialized units, improved victim support services, and a shift in attitudes are necessary to rectify this pervasive issue. Society must prioritize the well-being of survivors, hold perpetrators accountable, and dismantle the barriers that prevent justice. Only then can we create a safer and more equitable future.

Hey, genuine question: I'm 17 and I have a close friend who's 13. I met them through their older sibling and basically, they maintain their older sibling's friendships for them because well, older sibling doesn't care much for friends or people in general and younger sibling is very extroverted. So in essence, this friend (younger sibling) adopts me like they do most introverts, it's like they collect introverts like trinkets. And i love spending time with them, i didn't even know they were 13 when we first became friends (they're extremely emotionally mature) and most of their other friends are my age as well, or even older. Being 17, i suppose I'm quite close to becoming an adult, or even already am in some countries. My mother and sister do think it's weird that I'm friends with a 13 year old but i'd hate to lose them and i'm glad that i have them in my life. I'm lucky even. They're so different from me but I see a lot of myself in them and a lot of my younger self as well. So, is this weird? And is it morally wrong?

Good luck if you decide to tell anyone. I’m in the same boat, except for my husband, who found out by reading my journal. What really helps with healing is to tell the story or write down the incident(s) over and over and over, until you can do it without having flashbacks or strong emotions. You can tell the story out loud by yourself. There doesn’t have to be someone else there. Basically, your brain needs to process it. The other thing that really helps is to use tapping therapy or EMDR. EMDR requires a therapist, but tapping can be done on your own at home. You can find it on RUclips. I mostly healed one of my trauma triggers with just one at-home session of tapping. It’s good stuff.

She was deeply failed by her parents, her brother, the nurse at urgent care, LE…literally everyone. Social media (in the last 15-20 years has become a terrifying, groom heavy, vulnerable, demonic place for children/teens ~ both boys and girls alike. She was traveling cross country for an app, ubering by herself, alone in her travels. Ride shares alone are terrifying at any age, let alone for a child. I feel such despair for her young soul and send her continued healing vibes. She is very well spoken especially in terms of her emotions, which is hopeful for her plight of healing.

I’m disturbed by the fact that there were always other adults present and they thought it was normal for the rapper to be hanging out with a minor. Everyone around this young lady failed her. I hope she is able to heal from this trauma and continues to be vocal about it so it may help another girl who finds herself in the same situation. My heart goes out to all victims of sexual assault. 🙏🏽❤️

Any adults who knew what was happening & chose to ignore it, are as guilty as the rapist himself. In regard to the cops & the prosecutors' office, they should all be ashamed of themselves for failing to do even the bare minimum under the law. As for her brother & mother, their behavior was inexcusable & I wish them nothing but the worst. This young woman deserves so much better than how these people treated her. Instead of helping her, they turned their backs on her when she needed them the most. I'm happy, though, to see how brave she's become, in spite of those who let her down.

The only thing I find as upsetting as what was done to her is the fact that crimes just like this are being committed more & more every day. Her story is just one of many that have already happened & many that have yet to take place. Yet, despite improvements in forensic & DNA technology, the prosecution rate for such crimes hasn't improved much, if at all.
The process of reporting SA is still extremely traumatic & time-consuming for the survivor, often resulting in a rape kit that takes months or years to get tested, with many kits never getting tested at all. It's pretty widely known that the cost of getting these kits tested is fairly expensive & a lot of departments simply don't have the necessary funding. In my opinion, this lack of funding is part of a much broader problem, a problem which is rooted in a culture of non-accountabiluty, indifference toward victims & outright victim blaming. Until a large portion of society, as a whole, finally gets their heads out of their collective asses, SA survivors won't receive the acknowledgment, compassion & protection they need & rapists won't receive the punishment they deserve.

theres always a reason for literally everything. The reason people rape is because They Want To. not because of a bad childhood, alcohol or stress at work. Those are not reasons for anyone to rape people. Everyone goes through stress at work, and they dont rape people because of that. Millions of people have alcohol problems and dont rape anyone. Billions of people have bad childhoods and dont rape anyone. You cant say "its not a justification" in the same sentence where you try to associate rape with anything other than the rapits's desire to rape someone. There is no reason besides their own disregard for consent. Saying there is, is literally a justification. Saying he raped because of his "origin story" is very weird because i'm sure he had a very similar "origin story" to many men who are not rapists. Stop trying to associate rape with reasons that dont make people rape others.

Not sure what legal parameters are protecting him but that's a societal problem. Powerful abusers needs to be held accountable for their crimes and kept away from the public.

My brother doesn't believe me that his best friend assaulted me. I couldn't even admit it to myself for years, I thought it was my fault, that we didnt get that far, so it didnt count as assault. But I was drunk, emotionally broken, and when the guy bit me so hard and I screamed out in pain and told him to stop and even slapped his head to try and get him to stop biting me, and he did it several more times, it WAS ASSAULT. I couldn't even escape, we were in his truck and the passenger door didnt work properly, when I demanded him to let me out, he told me to jump out of the window. But I was too drunk and was scared of falling. When I said stop that hurts, he just kept repeating "I'm a sadist". Then he pretended to be asleep. I dont even remember how I got out. But brothers who are so insecure and pathetic they wont believe their own sisters when this shit happens should go to hell.

What a strange dynamic her family created for her. Influencer “careers” still need some freaking supervision at that age. When her adult brother became volatile in the family home after thinking he found out about her “sleeping” with another adult really just solidified the impression I was getting about that dynamic. And while she says even after the fact dad sent her to CA to press charges, why tf wasn’t HE in the seat next to her. I’d have smashed every oppositional skull between myself and said police station on the opposite coast if it was my kid. I wouldn’t be able to get their fast enough to make sure every doormat and enabling adult surrounding this guy AND this pos wear held accountable. What a disappointing group of people this woman has to share a last name with.

    It's gotta be Xan.
His name is Diego, hence "D". She says he was 21-22 at the time.
She said soon after he started dating a "famous singer", also known as the sister of a famous singer, Noah Cyrus. She also said the relationship with that famous singer ended quick and publically, which it was.
And mentions this guy was livestreaming all the time and would call her all fucked up and slurred out, classic Xan at that time. Also, no plates on his car at the time? He had massive problems trying to get his G Wagon on the road and was eventually repossessed by his manager, Stat Quo. Done a concert in New Mexico, yep Xan's checked that box. Constantly asking for her age....watch any No Jumper interview during the SoundCloud days and every single time part of the conversations would go to their sex lives and dodging underage girls, including Xan.
There's plenty more things she says points to Xan as well, I couldn't grab anything she said that definitely was Xan, but I can't see it as anyone else. Kid Cali? Not likely since he was murdered in 2016.

I'm pretty sure he (Diego/Lil Xan) asked her age every week because the fact that she was a child and a virgin turned him on, so disgusting. This is story is so infuriating. There should be a case investigating her lawer and the cops who didn't do anything. Pretty shure they were given money, and there was corruption and negligence behind her case. Also, her brother is disgusting and pathetic, so full of misogyny and machismo. He is so vain and empaty that cared more about money and fake people instead of caring about how her sister was raped? Could he use his head a little bit more? I really can't believe his reaction and her mom's reaction. Very very disappointing and injust. The only person who's not a lost case is her father. I hope this case becomes viral again, maybe she could try contacting the news so her case becomes more public.
