I know this video is more than two years old but thank god I was able to experience the streetwear boom of the mid 2000s to early 2010s when I was still living in Los Angeles. Most the crap you see in the video used to cost well below $100 saved for Bape and a few other premium brands and they weren't fake! Back then the Fairfax and Melrose area had a sense of community and uniqueness to it because a lot of young creative individuals like myself used hang out and frequent there. Plus, the cost of living was still reasonably affordable as gentrification was barely kicking in. I mean shit I remember I was to afford to rent a two bedroom apartment (my first apartment) on the Westside for under $1100 and this was back in 05-06! The music scene was dope as shit and times were awesome as well simpler too. Unfortunately, everything started to change around 2012 and by the time I left L.A. for North Carolina in late 2013, the bullshit seen in this video started to take place and it only got worse from there. Therefore, the scene that I once knew and admired has been long dead before I even realize it, however, I'm glad I was able to move pass this buffoonery.
Go to downtown LA to a place call "Los Callejones" aka the sweatshop district,,, all ran by Korean or Chinese nationals, all counterfit, and on the top levels you can hear the sewing machines going at full speed...
