@Feedthe5000 I've had a timeshare for about 12 years, I got it off someone who was giving it away, so I just pay the yearly taxes on it. I love it. I sold timeshare at the time, and know all about it.
This is actual investigative journalism. If this was a political story she would have just read an internet article and then posted a piece about how it made her feel.
You've never worked as a journalist, I take it? But you seem to have a lot of insight into how politics journalists work. Interesting. How did you learn this, what newsrooms have you been in?
MY wife and I did this while at Disneyworld back in 2008. Our boys were approx. 4, 6, and 8 years old at the time and we all sat through a presentation on our last day there in Orlando at a Sheraton. They tried to sell us on the Disney timeshare but we kept saying no and they did give us our free gift which I believe was a Visa gift card. Guess we were lucky to have them honor the deal.
I've been to 3 timeshare presentations. At 1, I got free SeaWorld tickets (back in my unenlightened days). At the 2nd, I got 2 free nights at the Loon Mountain resort in our mtns (in NH) which was awesome. The 3rd, I got dumb airline tickets I could never use just like this video shows. The key is to hold strong and stick by your "no". They'll all get pissed at you and send 8 salesmen but just keep saying "no", get your free gifts then leave.
I did one of these about 13 years ago. Presentation in San Diego, they actually paid for my hotel room (2 days) and gave me a 75 dollar gift card for a specific seafood restaurant. The presentation was 2 hours long and although they didn't like that I was so direct with them "I don't have money for a timeshare, I will not be buying a timeshare no matter what you say." They still honored the freebies.
These days, they put one under very high-pressure attics, practically holding people hostage with beefy guys surrounding you, not letting people leave! There are videos on this! Police were called to free the people!
I work in sales on a smaller scale and it’s very common knowledge that if someone straight up says they’re not going to buy anything today, they’re not going to buy something. It’s honestly a blessing because you then know not to waste anymore time and move on to the next customer.
misshollybrooke scam artists? No. Scam artists are just that, artists. They have genius, cunningly outwitting anyone. So much so that it is an art form. These guys prey on the desperate and the ignorant. They are bottom feeders that are the farthest thing from an artist.
The funny thing is ABC is a scammer too, time paid for by the rich. They will throw little guys like this under the bus for our entertainment because we all like to hate these people. More ad revenue, because they know how we behave as people. They know are instinctual need for violence, hatred and controversy. We give them the views instead of turning it off and self improving ourselves and the country....haha
Patrick -- TV is evil because it offers a substitute for attempting to better yourself every hour of every day? C'mon. Are magazines evil too? How bout board games?
AG needs to wipe the smile off his face and do his job. Prosecute these scam artist liars. We don't want to hear the difficulties in your job anymore than you want to hear ours.
Symmetry Tanner the law protects these scum...people have to learn to say no to bullshit scams early. say NO. walk away from it. We can't blame prosecuters for impotency on one side and then want governmental justice on the other...we must be involved and part of the governmental community as active citizens. make people aware. complaining against your own body does not make it whole.
My wife and I did the whole thing with this free trip stuff. They skipped on the airfare, gave show tickets instead, and still got the 2 nights stay. ...luckily...
Kevin H. People would not fall for it if they didn't lie... and if police/justice was more active on those issues, they also would not be doing it... The name changing as an excuse is quit the joke, a scam should be prosecuted against the person orchestrating it, not the legal entity.
They would not be doing this if it was illegal....... which it should be illegal. But since it’s NOT illegal, I totally understand why people will lie and cheat to get people’s money. I mean if there’s no law against getting rich that way then why not do it? Especially if you don’t have a conscience
If those ads were real I’d have an endless amount of money, all the iPhones ever, 2999 Volkswagen beetles just from the early 2000s and traveled the entire world twice.
You don‘t, because I bought them all with the money I‘ll get from this Nigerian Minister of Development Strategy, who unfortunally got the flu so he can‘t make it to Western Union by himself.
I literally had this happen a few years ago in California. Me and my girlfriend spent 2 hours getting pressured by Frankie Muniz’s dad, it’s the first thing he mentioned of course. And then he got super pissed when we told him we weren’t buying anything. I googled him and it was really was his dad but it doesn’t seem like they have the best relationship. He came across as a greedy scumbag who was using his sons name to try to rip people off. It was a very weird and unforgettable situation.
This scam has been going on for years. I had this happen to me 20 years ago. I went to the presentation and was given a so called free vacation voucher. I had to pay 50.00 for a booking fee. After I paid the fee they had no available dates. They wouldn't give my money back either. Its a pretty good scam. They will never be caught. Too good to be true and it is.
I had a offer to look at some lakeside property, with an offer of my choice of a Lowes gift card, a color tv, or one other item (I don't remember what it was). I went into it knowing I would probably walk away without anything, but simply expecting a road trip and a hard sell. I got what I was expecting, and when the end of the tour came around, and I made it clear that I wasn't interested, but still wanted the gift card, they claimed they were out of them. I complained profusely, but ended up getting a tv that I used for several years. The trick is knowing it is a scam and acting accordingly. If they ask for money at any point, that's when you refuse. If they insist, walk away.
Exactly. I had some sales jobs in my younger years & would never sell anything you wouldn’t sell your family & friends. Those sales guys bolted the first chance they got.
I applied for a scholarship once that amounted to several thousand dollars. When I handed in my paperwork the teacher told me my chances were pretty good. I asked why that was and he told me, "because they award two scholarships per school and you're the only student in the whole school who bothered applying." Needless to say, I got the scholarship. The schooling was all paid for anyways by my employer through some tuition reimbursement program which I was the only employee to take advantage of as well. To top it all off, I was able to write it all off on my taxes and got a nice refund at the end of the year. Free deals do exist out there, you just have to know where to look.
The guys running out the door at the sight of a camera is all you need to see. Also, gotta love how this “Thorn” guy was sweating BUCKETS at the simple questions 😂
This was a good story. I like it when the news stays away from politics and gets to the actual scandals that are happening everywhere. High pressure sales tactics were used by a company I worked for in the past, which will go unnamed. I installed water treatment systems. The company I worked for sold them for upwards of $6000. They made tons of promises that are absolute BS. 'Lifetime warranty' and 'free lifetime supply of soap and cleaning products', all of which was not true. Yes, you did get some cleaning products, but there's no way they'd last any family a lifetime--even a family of two, lol. And there was never a lifetime warranty on the system--for the cylinder, not the computer that makes it work, LOL. And you still had to pay yearly service fees and purchase parts when they need replacement. See, I don't have a problem with any of that. I do have a problem when you trick people into coming into their homes for a 'special water test', which is really just a sales pitch filled with exaggerations or outright lies. They pressure naive people into buying a crappy deal. More than one customer told me it was the worse decision they ever made in their lives. I won't say the name bc they've been known to sue people for slander, or libel, or whatever it is when it's in print. The fact is I witnessed the sales' shenanigans firsthand--I originally trained to be a salesmen (I was 19 at the time and naive myself), but I realized after a week there was no way I could do it. Only after I started working in the service and installation department did I learn all the real truths about those water softeners, and all the added costs. For the customers that had money it usually wasn't a big deal. For the ones who didn't--and there were a lot--it was a huge deal. Why not just be honest about everything? Why the deception? That's what gets me.
IKR? I wish they would stick with real news. Stop with the fake and or misleading political news! Then just maybe they will get some of the public's trust back. Make News Great Again!
My family did one of these, except the presentation was for some vacation homes at the beach. We were promised free tickets to Medieval Time and surprisingly, we got them. Didn’t buy/rest any of the homes. I know this is a lesser scale instead of the vacations, but 🤷🏻♀️

Sounds like you got a pretty good deal. It only cost you $50 to learn a million dollar lesson.
Idiot
If they insist, walk away.
i get automated calls all the time saying ive been chosen and have to attend a presentation to receive my vacation
They will be caught, but by then they will be under a different company name and they won't be able to be prosecuted.

That's what gets me.
......because bigger portion of our population values money higher than humanity. Sadly.
IKR? I wish they would stick with real news. Stop with the fake and or misleading political news! Then just maybe they will get some of the public's trust back. Make News Great Again!
