What are your thoughts on the GFX100?
Feel free to skip to 1:34 to get right into the action ;)
No way, I'm not gonna skip that ASMR intro lmao
@@kissmyasthma9973 Hahaha. You like that audio? ;)
@@GxAce who wouldn't? You really nailed that intro and those shots on the GFX100 are something else 😱
@@GxAce absolutely gorgeous how did you do that
@@johnbowie4869 That opening shot was lit with an Apurture 120d bouncing into the ceiling off to camera right, and Youngnuo YN360 set to daylight as a hair light also camera right and a 5-in-1 reflector camera left using the shiny gold side as a key light sort of creating a book light, reflecting the bounce from the ceiling back as a key.
Just gonna say again: I'm loving this format. Dystopian Blade Runner is now the only camera review aesthetic I want on youtube :P
I would have to agree with you ;)
I agree, these reviews are spectacular.
Cyberpunk
You are the most cinematic and underapreciated youtuber I watch. I‘m gonna show your channel to my camera nerd friends. Hope they love your videos as much as I do.
Thank you so much! That means a lot, especially when every single youtuber claims to be "cinematic"
Ultimate Luck This guys is amazing, BUT ALSO check out Media Division. Together these guys are the highest potential of cinematographic RUclips channels.
Ultimate Luck Im guessing you've seen them then?
Comrade Kirilov not yet but I will when I‘m back from traveling! :)
It's always a problem watching your videos because I really want to buy the camera you review right after. Keep up the great work, best reviews on RUclips!
If Fujifilm invested in creating a GFX model specifically for video, with a new sensor that trades resolution for video performance (no pixel binning, full readout, etc), it would totally obliterate the indie film market. Imagine, a 26 megapixel (to match the APS-C models) handheld IMAX camera, with IBIS, that is within the price range of small productions and serious creators. It would be a fucking game changer. And the name "Fujifilm GFX V" sounds dope as hell.
Or... Hear me out... Fuji VFX
You my friend are terribly under appreciated.
I'll make sure you get subs from all my friends and family.
You deserve better than 12k
Thank you so much friend! I really appreciate the support!
Yeah, these are great. Keep at it!
I have absolutely no idea how you can consistently put out higher quality work that has so much thought put into it.
You've got some real knowledge and I love your videos.
What I really like about your videos is that you tell convincing stories that linger. Not many of us can do that.
I watched this video and it finally convinced me to give it a try this past weekend and rent it in London. All I can say is that I'm blown away by the capabilities of this camera, and produced some of my best work ever that I'm extremely proud of. Thank you Ace for the incredibly inspirational presentation you've given, I'm looking forward to more of your videos.
Wow! Awesome! I'm glad you liked the camera! It is seriously amazing.
For anyone wanting that club banger at 7:35 , The track is "Live or Die" by "Makeup and Vanity Set" , Album is "Shadow Circuit" .
Thanks!
Your videos easily have the most logical representation of information as well as original opinions. Your video and photo samples are also through the roof. They back up your opinions very well. To me your channel is definitely in the very top tier of the hundreds of photography channels I watch.
Your videos look like insane budget movies and your stills look like their posters😐🔥
Thank you! I’m a huge fan of making things look cinematic, and not what RUclips thinks as “cinematic” ;)
@@GxAce it shows
For my first comment on RUclips in a decade, I wanted to say your work is inspiring to me! Stay true to your creative vision, I am a big fan. I just got the X-H1, and am so excited. Rock on man.
This is an absolutely stunning video. I have been watching it over and over and it's such a great way to review a camera. The editing is phenomenal, the product shots look gorgeous, and it's like watching an entire movie within a review (which fits the title and theme!) Amazing video, I can't wait to see more!
Wow! I’m glad you enjoyed it so much. Thank you a lot for the support, it really means a lot!
What kind of adaptor did you use for the Sankor? I have a gfx100s I’ve never taken video with and you just ignited crazy inspiration in me, I need that beautiful anamorphic setup stat
It’s an adapter that I machined myself. ruclips.net/video/ZbtdcVpeq88/видео.html
@@GxAce incredible dude, guess I’ll be figuring out how to machine.
Found your channel yesterday. I am amazed by the quality of the content you are making. The compositing, light, the sound directing. Everything is brilliant (on my taste). Also love how you just look futuristic sitting with this strange background which looks like some hacker-man cave. Amazing! Thanks for your work. I am inspired. (btw, sorry if i made any mistakes, i am non anglophone)
You are such an underrated gem
Oh man you just keep killing it. It's pure enjoyment to watch your video. Now I get goosebumps when the intro starts!
Thank you!! Its so awesome that people enjoy my videos that much :)
I haven't really had a need for any of the reviews of the videos I've seen of your so far, but the quality is just astounding. The production value is far above any other RUclips video I've seen... ever. I've seen maybe 10+ videos at this point and they're all amazing!
I just recently saw your video on the XT-3 and immediately subscribed. The quality of your videos and photos is out of this world.
Thanks and thanks for the sub! Welcome! :D
Dude, I always come back to your channel to look at your awesome photos. You’re an inspiration!
Happy to hear that! Thank you so much!
Yet another stunning piece of work from one of my favourite RUclipsrs .....
Man your videos are keep getting better and better
Thank you so much! If only I had the time to make them even cooler hahaha.
I thought I had seen every video review of the GFX100, but somehow missed this until now, and it's by far my favourite. Incredible job, beautiful work.
Wow! The x-pan crop and anamorphic stuff looks absolutely amazing! Too bad it costs more than my car :-)
Definitely a hefty price tag, that's for sure. Thanks for watching!
man I just discovered you and your work is so dang gorgeous. Thanks for all the effort behind this video!
Hell yess, I want to recreate some Dark Knight scenes with this. Just need to get ahold of one.
DO IT! That would be epic.
I love how you have a Phanteks Evolv case to compliment the GFX100
Good catch ;)
Would love it if you did a lighting setup tutorial. The way you set up to film yourself is especially mesmerising!
2 minutes in and this video has already made me so happy! Great job as always.
Yay!! Thanks for watching.
Your reviews set a new level!
Thank you so much!
I remember when I was looking into buying a new camera, the GFX100 was definitely on my radar, but the price held me back 😂😂😂
I love that you brought up the comparison to iMAX. I was thinking the same thing when you started to talk about cinema and “large format”.
It’s really an interesting camera! Especially at that price.
Your attention to detail is great. I really like the red GFX lettering you put in the thumbnail. It looks like something from an 80’s advert!
A stylistic video look is why I switched over to fujifilm a few years ago. The footage I was getting reminded me of those old discontinued Kodak cinema film stocks.
Loved the video Casey, the production quality is next level! :)
Thank you so much for watching!
Insane production quality as always man!
Thanks!!! :)
Your videos are so high quality. I get so excited I see a video of yours. Please don’t trade the quality you provide for quantity on here. Also, killer review, looking to upgrade my FS5, Imma have a look at this.
Thank you so much! I would like to increase the quantity a little bit, but I definitely wont sacrifice quality. It's hard to find to make many videos working a full time job : (
This camera is still just as fantastic to this day. Very fortunate to own and use this camera.
Someone get this man a GFX100S
Your channel is great man. Been trying to talk it up on the other big videographer channels
My god your videos are absolutely incredible!.. You have such an amazing way you portray your reviews!… that intro song is a banger, would you be able to give the name of it?… great work!
My dream camera right here!
For me it looks like they took a bit of inspiration from the Nikon F5 same form factor you got the sub display, and a removable prism. I loved the F5 back in the days and I’m a bit sad that i sold it years ago.
You realy need to make a video on color grading your photos and videos :) Stunning
I definitely will at some point! Thanks for watching!
Soooo. When are you doing a grading tut?
I'm planning to soon :)
GxAce Very cool! Keep it up.
@@GxAce I'm looking forward to it, too!
I really love your cyberpunk Aesthetic
Great video, thanks a lot! Currently I have a GFX50s (that ''only'' has 51MP and ''only'' shoots 1080p).. the best camera I have ever used and owned in my life.
And adding a fully electronic TechArt EF to GF lens mount adapter, now I can use EF lenses on the GFX (full native spwed auto-focus and electronic aperture control), many of which cover the whole sensor.. Canon's 50mm F1.4 & F1.2 primes, Canon's 85mm F1.4, and many other primes like several of the Sigma Art lenses including my very favorite, the 40mm F1.4 (equivalent to approximately 35 mm focal distance in FF).
The kind of mind-blowing, eye-opening and awe-inspiring images you get combining these high aperture lenses with the GFX's larger sensor, is absolutely life changing.. sheer pure visual magic.
I can't afford to upgrade to a GFX100 quite yet, but hope for the good fortune to do it as soon as I have the opportunity.
Thanks again for the video.
It is definitely addicting shooting fast lenses on medium format! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I hope good fortune strikes you soon!
Yes! What a beast. Those images in this video! Great captures. Love the use of flash in dem BMW foto ;). Great to see another great video from you! Never do I get tiered of this great set/background/room you have!
Thank you so much! Its great to finally get another one finished! That BMW shot was actually all lit with streetlights and a neon sign ;)
@@GxAce clever. This shows your observational skills :D
My dude did you film yourself inside a tie fighter??
I can neither confirm nor deny this.
I hope so! But they don’t have their own hyper drive...so maybe not?
I always love your content, bro!
I absolutely love your reviews- thank you for this!
Thank you so much! I absolutely love your comments ;)
I don't think fujifilm gets enough credit for how amazingly their firmware seems to have scaled to this camera. It's one thing to build tech on aps-c and guide your code to take advantage of a processor etc.
But this is literally the same processor that's in the x-t3 doing MASSIVELY bigger work. The sensor hardware part of cameras is actually the easiest one - the real work and where the magic is happening is in firmware, It's mind-boggling from a software perspective what they achieved on the GFX100 imo.
Seriously! Size and shape aside, its basically the same camera!
Awesome video as usual. Love your videos a lot. Your channel deserves more subscribers💖💖💖
Thank you so much! I'm glad you like them enough to keep coming back haha.
I finished a coffee + croissant and cannot wait for more anamorphic shots on this beast :) Thanks for sharing!
That's awesome! Thanks for watching! I'll definitely be doing more anamorphic stuff in the future!
lol im loooking around my studio now to see what I can sell to fund a 100mp camera that I def DONT need or have the storage capacity to even handle.
Someone please tell me the song starting 2:05 I've been trying to find it everywhere and I can't
Same! It's so beautiful!!
Nice bits of country or suburbia shown there, man. Your skills brought this to life. Many thanks.
I have been waiting for this video 😎😎😎
What did you think? Did I live up to your hopes and dreams? hahah
@@GxAce haha yes you did, and I like that you are creating indi style story shorts, but mostly your photos are extremely good!
I have currently shot an entire movie using the Xt3 with a crazy rig-setup but the image colours, is absolutely fantastic.
This is what i call good content
Thank you! I would have to agree with you ;)
I really enjoyed this video and the one on the original X100. I also like the nighttime picture of Pinball Pete's which brought back fond memories of Michigan. Would you mind if I asked where this particular Pinball Pete's was?
7:35 what is that banger of a song? sounds so Cyberpunk
Not sure off the top of my head! It most definitely is!
Been searching since this video came out, and I just found it: ruclips.net/video/Um46J5RXAdg/видео.html
YES A NEW VIDEO
YAY!!
Awesome video! Thanks. If by any chance you can share any RAW image to download and take a look, let us know. Looks amazing.
I will look into setting up a way to download them! Thanks for watching!
@@GxAce Great. Btw. I like your sort of Bladerunner vibe going on ;)
YeEAAHHHH HE BACC btw loved the video and images you create. I’m going to have to take a look at renting one of these😍
Hahaha! Thank you! Definitely give it a shot. Its so much fun!
Great, awesome, so inspiring. I'm basically shock how cool this video is.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you like the video!!
How BANANAS would it be if this sucker output 60p through the usb-c? Maybe even a cropped sensor 120p!?! I loved the intro video, but I would love to see some footage that's as crispy-crunchy as the sequence of shots starting at 9:22 . Was the grain in the intro added in post, or internally using one of Fuji's swanky film simulation modes? Killer review of the GFX100. As if I didn't need more reasons to part with $10k!
That would be awesome!! I would love it if in video you could record at the full 4:3 sensor size, instead of 17:9. I love me some organic looking images ;) That grain was added in post, unfortunately you cannot use the grain on the film sims in video mode. Thanks for watching!
@GxAce where do you get your starting b-roll backround music? Thank you
Super sick video man , I got a friend who owns one and it’s such a sick camera
loved the images ( borrowed one from a friend ) But was advised NOT to go out in wet weather , the seals are really bad and many have gone back to fuji with serious problems , i was a bit disapointed hearing this , ( really disapointed as i was after investing in one ) for scotland which is pretty wet at times
Great work as always dude
Thanks, Dan!!
The autofocus on the GFX series just got a major upgrade.
I’ll be making a new GFX video soon!
@@GxAce still waiting
well done! I have the 50r, love it, but want to upgrade to the 100. You make as compelling case to do so.
By far the best review of the camera.. or is it a review? I don't know.. whatever it is it got me pumped up for the camera and I haven't been pumped in a long while if you know what I mean. You could have let the anamorphic shots last a bit longer. 5x longer as far as I'm concerned. Thanks.
I really need to pick your brain! I am honestly ONLY interested in the wide screen dual 35mm video look and even with the photos. I was going to spring for the 100ii cause it has the cine 5.8k mode but you’ve shown me that with this camera here and I can get one of these way cheaper now! What lenses did you use to get such a wide image?
DAMN I GOT GET THIS CAMERA! MY 30th Video. This is great!
Absolutely stunning review as usual but as a sophomore in high school this is out of my budget so I will be sticking with the XT3 which is still a solid camera for film and photography considering its price.
You already have one of the best cameras you can buy. Don't worry about this GFX. Check out my XT3 video if you want to see it in action ruclips.net/video/YF5SiGe-k3w/видео.html
At 8:25 you say 35mm film is about an APS-C sized sensor, I think you got confused
Sorry! I should have said Super 35. Cinema 35mm film actually runs vertically through the camera instead of horizontally, so you end up getting a frame as wide as the shorter dimension of the 35mm "full-frame", which in cinema is called Super 35 (About the same as APS-C)
I can't help myself... you look so much like one of these tribal/clan lords during a sci-fi game prologue... great studio setting! :)
Interesting, I always viewed this camera as a mainly stills, with an after thought of video type of camera. But you make some very good points. I could totally see myself renting this camera to get that large sensor look. I love getting RAW out of RED and Blackmagic cameras, but you just can't beat that large format look. Nice work!
It is most definitely not an after thought for this camera which is why its so interesting! Except for the 4k 60, it has the same video specs as the xt3
This looks very nice but isn't this camera's sensor size around twice as small as the 645 format which in turn is slightly smaller than IMAX? Also your video clips are in a 2.4:1 ratio whilst IMAX film is usually shot in something like 3:2 or 4:3 ratio, but I don't know if the gfx100 can shoot video in open gate mode like it does with photos? As I'm sure you're aware Metabones do a gfx to hasselblad speed booster which would theoretically get you a frame size that is slightly larger than 645, i.e pretty much the same size as an IMAX frame. I guess using that combination with 6x7 lenses could get you something that resembles an indie IMAX camera!
Fujifilm is actually laying groundwork for a future where even hobbyists would get into medium format. The system is still relatively expensive and isn't perfect in any way. But once we reach GFX 50R Mark III, every serious hobbyist and certain kinds of professionals would be itching to get their hands on one of those beautiful machines.
Yes!! This is such a promising camera for the future of photography.
Glad I found your channel. Great work :)
Great video man I had a talk with a friend on why Fuji isn't making full frame and I think it's because of this if they are able to get these features in the future versions of the 50r and 50s and make those price competitive with the high end full frames like the 1dx and a9 those cameras will do great
Thanks! If they can get the camera bodies a little bit smaller and cheaper, I think its gonna be super hard for people to pick FF.
Man I sure would love to have one, but I'm going to keep my eyes on my xt3 for now 💕
Its always fun to check out the big bois every now and then, but I'll be sticking with the XT3 as well ;)
Xt4 baby
I started to watch your videos, and I love your level of production, súper cinematic but keeping things simple. Also, the spaceship look 💯💯💯
Digging the content! Subscribed!
Thank you for the support!!
Great stuff as always. With a sensor that big the rolling shutter must be pretty pronounced? Probably not the choice for an indie action movie. Or am I wrong?
I didn't honestly think about rolling shutter at all while using it, so it was at least as good as the XT3 or I would have noticed.
cool camera, excellent video, and a great channel! glad i found it. nice work!
I'm glad you found it too! Welcome!
The title makes it look like another camera review channel. But the cinematography and style is totally original and not nearly appreciated enough
The next Digital X-Pan Camera 😍.
Thanks so much for the great review. Could you please be more specific on exactly what anamorphic lens you used and how you attached it to the GF110mm? 🙏🏻
WELL.... Technically, Hasselblad X1D & X1DII offer Xpan mode, but it doesn't come close in term of resolution compare to GFX100
Indeed they do!
I was wondering if they shot that xpro 3 series of films on the xt3 but now to hear it was shot in gfx 100 is even more awesome. Where did you find this information?
I actually got to meet the Fuji marketing team when I was in NYC in October and had the GFX with my at the time and we were talking about those promos!
Another amazing video, good work bro!
Thank you so much!
It is the first time that I have watched a camera review twice...
That is an astonishing camera, as well as the story you narrated around it. I would sell my car and ride a bicycle just to have one.
I love your work man! I wish I could relate though, most of these cameras I cannot afford LOL😭
@gxace i really wanna buy it but im wondering if i should wait for their next gfx high mp camera system... what do you think?
