3 years ago when I was starting to get into fancier fx makeup youtube was full of crap..now there's epic tutorials like these available..I literally sit here for hours just in awe. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Really cool technique! I've never seen it before, I will have to give it a go :D Looks like it's a good way to stop the prosthetic from being really chunky and heavy when it's a large build as well.
I don't even do these tutorials, I just watch because I find it interesting and I love you in general. This was very cool by the way, another great video. :)
this costume is the most easter-appropriate thing I've ever seen and it's going to save me a hundred dollars on appliances for this halloween so you're basically a hero
I'm soooo glad you did this tutorial! I've been trying to find a way to make prosthetics for a while since it would help to get a nice collection of some basic ones and now I can just make them! Thanks.
Just the other day I was thinking about how boring the "review" videos and "favourites of march" videos about ordinary makeup were and then I see this. Beautiful. You just gave me the idea to get myself one of those mannequins when I find a job xD I would love to see how you get the clay off the mannequin too. Great video
Here's a question, how did you make your live cast?? I'm thinking of doing a full face and cowl makeup so I really need a live cast for the front. I have some ideas right now but I'm not sure yet
so super helpful! I have always be too intimidated to attempt to make prosthetic appliances but when you mentioned using a manikin head I thought, "oh I could totally do that!" thanks for the information and the inspiration!
I tried the stippling but it came out with a textured surface. Figured it must be the synthetic wedge sponge I used, too firm as it pushed it around and didn't sit smooth. Tried to fix it when the bumps showed a few layers later with a cheap bristle brush painting it as smooth as I could, no luck. It is a prosthetic witch nose with warts so the bumpy texture adds to ugliness, slight textured surface applied to a dummy's face ( I had no face cast yet). Going to try the polyfoam brush and hopefully have better luck. This is fun! Thanks for the video +goldiestarling
I made a pig nose using this method without a life cast (unfortunately I don't have access to those materials and live in such a small town it's not available....wahhhh there was my pity party lol) BUT before you posted this video I was sure you had either purchased your prosthetic or used a different method to make this. GREAT JOB!!!! I hope to be as awesome at this as you are!
Oh my GAWD YOUR AMAZING 👏 🤩 😍 🙌 ZOMBUNNIE! YESSSSSS you did this so good. Im new to prosthetics so thank-you so much for this video. I know I can do it! 💪 facecast is drying... forgot to coat the inside of plastercast with jelly 😔 but itll work out... practice practice 😃 😊
Thanks for sharing all this knowledge and your great ideas. Do you recommend the Chavant Soft, Medium, or Hard? Also, is it helpful to speed the drying of the latex by using a hairdryer, or is there a reason to not do that?
Can you use this prosthetic multiple times? I'm working on a low budget multi-day shoot and this custom prosthetic looks IDEAL based off of my needs and experience. Thank you for sharing this. You saved me $$$
Thank you for the tutorial! I am actually giving this technique a try, I do wonder if its possible to reuse the prosthetic? Im also doing it way ahead of Halloween so I'm hoping it will last til then.
5-7 layers of latex at the center of the prosthetic, okay, but how many layers in total do you stipple around the edges??? iam trying to do my very first own prosthetic this Halloween, and this Video is sooooo helpful!!!!!
Thank you so much for the instructions! I love halloween and the makeup that it comes with. I want to do smth with prosthetics too, so this is def a really easy but proffessional way to do it!
Amazing work but I've got questions (if somebody else know as well I would love to give me some advices) 1. How long it takes for any layer to dry? 2. Can I use a hairdryer to dry it faster? If I can, I use cold or hot air? 3. Can I apply vaseline on the clay before the first layer so I can take it off easier? 4. Am I applying powder over every dry layer? Thanks if you answer
I'm wanting to make a latex prosthetic of a rib. Could I use a Halloween decoration? More specifically, what would I need to put on the decoration so the latex would come off?
Amazing! Do you think this technique would work for creating the skin of a puppet (dinosaur)? I was going to make it out of clay and they apply this latex all around it but I don't know if that's a silly idea or not.
This might be a dumb question, but is the material you used in this video viable for making a a full head prosthetic? I'm picturing like a mask/hood that I could pull down over my head so that it's all one piece and easy for putting on and removing.
Hey goldie I love your videos! Could you make one on fx makeup on a budget? I think most people can't really afford the expensive latex's and pallets you show, though they are amazing. Could you make a video on how to do some gore or fx makeup with budget tools and makeups! :)
I've been into costuming as long as I can remember, and I was always a huge halloween nut. This Halloween was possibly my most ambitious costume yet, being a fully tricked out werewolf with an articulating jaw mask and Digitigrade stilts. Since I want to start taking this a little more seriously, I figured I should probably also get into makeup FX. Lets say I try making a basic scar appliance. Should I use latex for this, or use something else?
whats your recommendation on where to get chavant clay and a mannequin head? id love to start trying to make some prosthetics bbut I gotta get the stuff and when I google Stuff, I don't get any real good results.
If I wanted to make a prosthetic that allowed me to cover my eyes and see through it what would you recommend? I want to make a weeping angel prosthetic but I can't afford to get the contacts at the moment and wondered how to put plastic on a prosthetic and keep it from falling off :) Any advice would be great, love your tutorial and just subscribed!
This is really useful! I watched this awhile ago and thought so too, but I started doing prosthetic sculpting and couldnt figure out where to start in terms of actually making the prosthetics. Would regular latex work (like from Mehron or something) or should I use mask-making latex?
Is there a way, at some point, that you can do a tutorial on life casts? I know there are tons of videos already but you're great at explaining and you have a ton of light so that we can see what's being done
Hi there! I'm in the process of making some prosthetics and I love how simple this process is, especially cause the pieces I'm making are pretty small. I was wondering if you could do the same thing with fx gelatin instead of liquid latex? Do you know how it would hold up using this method?
Bisola Spice Sorry this is a bit late but I'm guessing that liquid latex would be your best bet, you can get it pretty cheap off of amazon. I've worked with gelatin before and you would not get the same results using it, it's very runny and it will not stay in place and bond to the clay as the latex would, and since it is so thick when it cools almost all of your details would be lost. However if you did want to use gelatin I suggest making a negative mold of the prosthetic with plaster then pouring the gelatin in the negative mold. I'm assuming that you want a simpler method though so Elmer's school glue should work just fine in place of latex 😊
there is a character I want to do a prosthetic for, but I'm not sure if it's possible, since I don't think I would be able to see out of it. The character is Sapphire from Steven Universe, and she has one eye. Could you possibly show us how to do a "cyclops" prosthetic and how to make it so we can see out of it?
Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial! It helped me a lot! One question, though! Is there a way I can store the clay? Is there a safe way to get it off of the face cast without ruining it so I can make another prosthetic later on?
OMG you help me so much to make a good job in make up Thank you sooo much for the video its very good and i hope you make more of that Very good video I am so happy
Would this same process work for making a scarification piece? I'm working on a War Boy cosplay & don't feel like doing all those chest & arm pieces with nose & scar wax. Any tips?
Hey ! Thank you so much for this tutorial it's super useful ! But I had a question, I'm doing this for a March Hare costume and I was curious : do you wait between each layer of latex ? Thank you for your answer o/ (sorry for my bad english, also)
I’m probably missing something but how does the wearer breathe in this prosthetic when applied? Is there a way to incorporate nostrils effectively and cleanly without having to put spirit gum around the nose?
So, question: does the modeling clay come off of the face cast after this project is over, or does the model stick around on a shelf somewhere? Do you have to make a new face cast for every project?
I love this thank you. Been following your work for a while. I also love cosplay and think I'm ready to start really learning and doing great work. 😘😘😘👍💙😛
Hello. How long on average, should I wait between layers to let it dry? I've done 3 layers so far and I'm running out of time. Don't want to use a hair dryer if I can help it.
how would one go about doing a jackal snout? I'm going to be Anubis for Halloween this year and I am not sure how to go about doing the snout,oh and ears
VERY useful tutorial for the beginners, thank You! :D but my question is what happens to the life cast after you applied clay on it? i mean is there any way to remove it or is it permanent?
You can take it off, if it was water based clay you could wash it off but if it's oil based you have to pick it off which shouldn't be hard since it doesn't dry.
3 years ago when I was starting to get into fancier fx makeup youtube was full of crap..now there's epic tutorials like these available..I literally sit here for hours just in awe. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Very very VERY helpful and excellent explanation! Thank you so so much!
I don't even do these tutorials, I just watch because I find it interesting and I love you in general. This was very cool by the way, another great video. :)
Dido here. I don't ever actually recreate her prosthetics or even her make up.... She's just so damn entertaining I have to watch her.
this costume is the most easter-appropriate thing I've ever seen
and it's going to save me a hundred dollars on appliances for this halloween
so you're basically a hero

Thank you!! I’m a new creator and I’m just getting into prosthetics and this has helped a LOT 🖤🖤🖤
so super helpful! I have always be too intimidated to attempt to make prosthetic appliances but when you mentioned using a manikin head I thought, "oh I could totally do that!" thanks for the information and the inspiration!

Jessica Valenzuela I think you can do a life cast with plaster bandages
I would give this video a thousand thumbs up if I could. This is amazing! Thank you sooooo much!!!!
Came upon this today looking for a tutorial like this. Feels a little less scarier now 😂 thank you!
God, this is fantastic. The first one of these I've seen that was actually very clear that warned about edges. Lol
Could you do this same technique with silicone (like dragon skin) instead of latex?
OH MY GOSH THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO THERE IS ALMOST NONE OF THESE ON RUclips
Thanks for sharing all this knowledge and your great ideas.
Do you recommend the Chavant Soft, Medium, or Hard?
Also, is it helpful to speed the drying of the latex by using a hairdryer, or is there a reason to not do that?
What nail polish are you wearing? I want it all over me
I think its gel nail varnish :/
I KNOW! I WANT TO BATHE IN IT!!!
LOL :D
me 2 !
Lülo Borio you'll be a smurf lol
This video is so informative and a real pleasure to watch - your explanations are very helpful. Amazing tutorial, thank you so much for sharing!
Can you use this prosthetic multiple times? I'm working on a low budget multi-day shoot and this custom prosthetic looks IDEAL based off of my needs and experience. Thank you for sharing this. You saved me $$$
Thank you very much, I have been working on making my own prosthetics. This was most helpful.
Girl, you're amazing. It's going to be my first time trying prosthetics and I'll try to do something similar to this. Keep up the good work 👌🏻
Thank you for the tutorial!
+dIxIklo85 I'd say two to three, keep it thin :D
You responded!!! You actually responded and read my comment!!! Woop woop! Thank you so much!! You are such an talented, amazing artist!
+goldiestarling your amazing and thank you for sharing. where can I buy the latex
+Jesus Modesto Try online or at a Michael's
+Orca Yowane do you know if I could apply the finished latex prosthetics with Gel-OO ? is that safe?
Really love your tutorials! They are very helpful and creative! Can you please do a step by step guide on how you did your life cast! :)
I played bass for Bunny Muzzle back in 87, those dudes are crazy.
Your so talented!!!! I'm dying to learn character makeup...it's so intimidating though
Thank you so much for the instructions! I love halloween and the makeup that it comes with. I want to do smth with prosthetics too, so this is def a really easy but proffessional way to do it!
AWESOME! I love the bloody bunny at the end..
Very cool. I love how simple and precise that was. There is so much to build on from that. 😋
Amazing how would you blend the edges into the skin and also what would you use to paint the latex? Thanks x
Very nice tutorial. Simple and cheap! Thanks.
Can you reuse the clay after you're done? Also would sulfur-free, plastilina clay work?
This is very helpful, thank you!
YES! OMG THANK YOU!!!! I can't wait to do this! =) YOU RULE!!!!!
Hey, I was wondering what kind of clay you used ? and if it has to be a certain one or can it be any clay.
Thank you!!! this is really really helpful!!! You're amazing Angie!!
Very clever. Excellent work.👍
Great tutorial! What brand of latex do you use? I tried this but even with about 8 layers my latex was still too thin and it lost its shape :(
Probably foam latex
you make my learning experience so easy,
thank you...
Amazing work but I've got questions (if somebody else know as well I would love to give me some advices)
Very helpful! I'm following this tutorial (minus the life cast) to make fishy fin ears for my Undyne cosplay. I can't wait to do more!
Latex gives me a light rash. I’ll be using gelatin and silicone. I’m also allergic to blue shaving cream.
You f****** rock man you are awesome such a great teacher and he really inspired me to be more creative as an artist thank you so much
I was looking at them nails the whole time what nail polish is that?
Amazing! Do you think this technique would work for creating the skin of a puppet (dinosaur)? I was going to make it out of clay and they apply this latex all around it but I don't know if that's a silly idea or not.

I love this tutorial! Also, for people who cant find alcohol for smoothing out the clay you can use lighter fuel, I find it has the same effect! :)
THEY SAY EASY BUT WHO HAS A LIFE CAST SITTING AROUND
"How to make oil from home, it's easy, all you need is an oil well and an oil digging machine!"
exactly.
Yeah, can I live cast on a live human?... ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )‧º·˚
They are actually pretty easy and cheap to make
Bella Grace me😂
Hey goldie I love your videos! Could you make one on fx makeup on a budget? I think most people can't really afford the expensive latex's and pallets you show, though they are amazing. Could you make a video on how to do some gore or fx makeup with budget tools and makeups! :)

whats your recommendation on where to get chavant clay and a mannequin head? id love to start trying to make some prosthetics bbut I gotta get the stuff and when I google Stuff, I don't get any real good results.
You should do a series on you interpretations of Greek gods and goddesses. If you haven't already done it.
If I wanted to make a prosthetic that allowed me to cover my eyes and see through it what would you recommend? This video is really helpful but I wanted to ask what latex do you use? Maybe you can share where could I buy it?
Do you/can you reuse the clay after you have created the prosthetic? Does the alcohol effect the reuse?
that bunny video scared me so bad.😂

This video was so amazing. I cant wait to make!
Great video and great technique!
You make this seem so much more simple! Thank you :)
Great video, as always :) I just have a question, could you use third degree silicone or gelatin on this to make the prosthetic? Thanks :)

Once you're done with the sculpt, how do you get it off your life cast? Great video! ☺️🙌🏻
+Vessel Of Blood If you're using the oil-based clay it should come right off and clean up easily, then you can reuse it next time you need it.
+Jeremiah Fargo I was silly and used clay that dried :( Now I know for the future! Thank you!
OMG you help me so much to make a good job in make up
Thank you sooo much for the video its very good and i hope you make more of that
Very good video
I am so happy
What type of clay are you using? And is there a certain brand You would recommend?
Do you dry each layer before you put the next one on, Also is the normal liquad latex or mesh latex?
Amazing!!! Having trouble finding a tutorial for creating simple snake/reptile prosthetic, please help!! 😥
I love this...I wanna try to do a werewolf on my hubby and this was Soo helpful!
How do you go about making the prosthetic breathable? Can you easily breathe through the latex or is there a proper way to make nose slits?
Yess ! So happy when I seen this video in my subscription box , Thanks for the informative video ! :)
Would this same process work for making a scarification piece? I'm working on a War Boy cosplay & don't feel like doing all those chest & arm pieces with nose & scar wax. Any tips?
Question: do you reuse the live cast of yourself or do you make a whole other one for your next project?
Hey ! Thank you so much for this tutorial it's super useful !
But I had a question, I'm doing this for a March Hare costume and I was curious : do you wait between each layer of latex ? Thank you for your answer o/ (sorry for my bad english, also)

Been following your work for a while.
I also love cosplay and think I'm ready to start really learning and doing great work. 😘😘😘👍💙😛
Really faster, thanks💖💖💖
This was so incredibly informative. A real treasure for me. Thank you so much!!
God of talent
Hello. How long on average, should I wait between layers to let it dry? I've done 3 layers so far and I'm running out of time. Don't want to use a hair dryer if I can help it.
Wow thank you for the tutorial!!
How would suggest going about it with a mold that has somewhat deep holes like the cells in a beehive when it comes to applying the latex?
I've been waiting for this video soooo long, I loveeed it!
how would one go about doing a jackal snout? I'm going to be Anubis for Halloween this year and I am not sure how to go about doing the snout,oh and ears
Your nails look great
Thanks for sharing this! Stupid question, but how do you clean the latex sponge?
+Tom Rodriguez you can't once that stuff is on there its hard to get off thats why you get cheap ones
I love the tutorial but do you have to use oil based clay? or can you use oven baking clay that doesn't dry at room temperature.
yes any clay works as long as it doesn't dry
okay thanx for the reply !
