- In this tutorial we use Skin Cast silicone and Prosthetic Additive 1 to create a realistic breast model. A thin membrane of straight Skin Cast 0010 was brushed into the ArtKast resin mold. The skin was then back-filled with softened Skin Cast at a ratio of 1A +1B + 1PA1 (Prosthetic Additive 1).

I have NO idea how I ended up in this corner of RUclips, but this was interesting to watch! I never knew any of this stuff existed, let alone was something one could do outside of a factory. Now I kind of wish I had a need for this just so I could try it. 😄
I was trying to finde out how to make my own ww2 tank models for ballistic testing 😭
@@ttoskaa1474 RUclips algorithms are whack. LOL I look up Christmas cardmaking and they return Eugenia Cooney content. Wut? 😂
I have watched competition shows on TV and have wondered how the appliances for features were made. This has been truly informative.
the most direct and surprisingly informative silicone video I've seen so far, thanks
Thanks!
@@brickintheyardsir I am from India and I want to make a breast model but I want to do some changes in this design for my purpose so can you provide me full details of materials that you used in this video because I don't know English so well
great explanation and demonstration of what deadener does...never used it and was curious
This has been so interesting to watch. I have absolutely no application for this,...but now I want to play with it.
use it for your humanoid robot butler build
man you are amazing really really ditaled tuotorial i wish i knew this channel befor thank you very very much i definitly gonna make an order from the site
Thanks!
Nice work, its first time i see som1 using silicone in pro mod
Yes, thanks
Thanks a lot. Now I can make my full body personal toy at home
good luck 👍
Uh...
@@brickintheyardlmao thanks for the video for real you are a true scientist
this was exactly what i was looking for thank you so much
Glad I could help!
labelling the remnants is a great idea
Looks like a good simulation for pitting edema.
We are about to introduce a new additive for this application.
Please make a video about silicone gel pads.... the ones that stick onto any surface..... what's the formulation?
Im going to suggest you use a catheter tip syringe to draw up equal portions when dealing with very small amounts.
As long as you avoid syringes with vulcanized rubber plungers you are good to go!
Very Informative. Thank you
These tutorials have been invaluable for my prosthetic research. TY!. I have a question and I pray that someone from Brick in The Yard can nudge me in the right direction. I'm making prosthetic breast for cosplay and I need a very thin membrane of cap plastic to help blend the prosthetic into the skin. I'm guessing from my research that I need to spray a layer of cap plastic before I pour the silicone and after. Would cap plastic work with the recipe in this video? Also, I see that this video you are using a mold made of Artkast. Would it be better for me to make a master mold of silicone or can I get away of using a mold made out of Artcast. TY for all of your video on prosthetics.
Super interesting. I'm very interested in prostetics, so I see it's application. We aren't 12.
How could i get a Sample of this online? i live in Texas and ive ALWAYS wanted to come in and see you guys, but i live in San Marcos now and its gonna be a bit of a drive to my understanding lol.
Also, is there any way i could make Silicone into a Shore D "or closer to PVC Toy Feeling Durometer?" ive never asked this before it just sorta came to my mind randomly
very good i like this technic
Thanks For This Video
Most welcome!
I would like to inquire about the best material in terms of showing mold manufacturing details (Hydrocal, Tracal or Polyester).
Can I pour the material onto flexible silicone figures to create the shape (breasts, nose, ears, fake wounds)?
What should I put on the model so that it does not stick to the mold?
Thank you 🤗🌹
Love it , thx
Glad you like it!
Is there any way to reinforce the softer silicones with any particular fibers to make them stronger and still remain soft?
Fiber or fabric would change a lot. If you want a stronger outer skin use Gel-10 or Gel-OO.
I want to make a gel to simulate fat tissue in a breast form: what ratio of a to b to deadener would I use? I am going for a realistic approach that incorporates how natural breast tissue doesn't stay still and constantly moves and jiggles and ripples.
If I did it would people find out?
You might need to use a combination of additives.
does the self adhesive part of it weaken overtime?
If it gets dirty, yes.
Does anyone in the UK sell your products?
can you practice tattooing on it? like if you make a sheet or something?
Has anyone tried this yet? I'd like to know too!
If I use the deadener does the silicone still stay skin safe?
Yes.
Sir i want to make human hands and nose
Which silicon i use ?
TC-5110 and TC-5110F are great for casting hands and other body parts.
Thank you for tutorials.
Could I use this mixtures to do the Nose Posthetic.
You can use this technique and materials for a simple prosthetic. Gel-10 and Gel-OO have a higher tear resistance so they are preferable for prosthetic applications.
I see that the LV and the smith deader formula are both sold out in small batches would using the XP-690 have similar effect?
Yes, but we will also be releasing a new Prosthetic Additive very soon!
Can this same process be used in phallus shaped molds also? Or is that a different process
Lol!!
Is this silicone ok for making silicone masks??
Yes, this technique may be used for silicone mask but I would not recommend this high % of Deadener. Neill Gorton has a great Mask Making DVD that uses Gel-10 + Deadener Gel-10 in similar fashion to this and it results in a VERY realistic mask with excellent movement.
Could you mix your pigments/flocking in Silicone Fluid to spray on a cast piece for a colorant?
You can. I am working on a new tutorial where I do that for my pigment + flocking.
Can you use standard power makeup as a pigment in silicone? (I once used it successfully with expanding foam.)
Possibly, but there are a lot of different makeup products. Always run a test first too make sure everything is compatible and stable over time.
The part you cassetted is too soft, what changes should be made in the measurements to make them a bit harder?
This was made to demonstrate the extreme soft end of the scale, so this used the maximum amount of Deadener. You can not add as much as I did and have a firmer silicone. The replacement for Deadener is "Prosthetic Additive 1" and it will be available on our site very soon.
@@brickintheyard Thanks so many for the reply😀😀--- What is the mixture of blue color silicon used in head cassettes, the formula used, (I don't understand the A&B formula) what is it? Which product you select for it.
Please tell me the materials needed to make the sample you showed in the first minute
All of the supplies are linked in the video description.
Is it the deadener that gives it the tac? If so then what would be used as it seams the Smith's deadener is no longer available?
We have a new additive coming very soon! We might still have some of the old formula if you want to call to order.
Could you combine softener and deadener? It looks like the deadener makes it a little too slow to rebound.
Deadener is a softener, but if you just want to soften the silicone and not lower the modulus, you can soften with silicone fluid.
@@brickintheyard I'd like to soften it as much as possible, but have the rebound be a little faster than what was shown in this video. I was hoping I could fine tune the rebound rate by substituting some deadener with silicone fluid maybe.
sir i have a question i want to make a hollow hand glove . i have a cast of my hand , but donot want to make a solid silicon hand but hollow hand please can you make a tutorial on that
That will require a core mold. Maybe in a future tutorial we will cover that.
Um.....mine don't do that....there's no delay......
Mine do.
Hello, how to make artificial skin for tattooing?
ruclips.net/video/FZQVgpkBnA8/видео.htmlsi=2uo0B9e-Hbj7FAnr
Can these products be used for a full realistic head mask?
For a full head mask I would recommend our PlatSil Gel-0020 or Gel-0030.
Can this silicone material be used in a 3D Printers ?
I have not heard of this material being used in a 3d printer. We do have customers printing parts and molds, but not printing silicone...at least not yet.
@@brickintheyard there is a silicone material manufacturer who explained to me some time back that they have silicon which can be printed with 3D Printers.... wanted to share this with you.
Is this silicone body safe?
This is safe for skin contact in cured form, but not suitable for lifecasting.
Hey, I've been thinking about making a latex Halloween mask, now, i heard the best type of mold for that is a plaster mold, but my concern is that i heard plaster molds dont retain detail very well after a few pulls, is there a better material for casting latex? Or should i just make a resin master of the sculpture?( Sculpture > silicone mold > resin master)
Hydrocal and Ultracal both work great for casting latex masks. Ultracal holds the detail best, but requires more time for the latex to dry.
@@brickintheyard thanks! Just one more thing, i was kinda hoping to make a master cast of the sculpture so that i can always make new molds when needed, is there a way to do that using a ultracal mold? Or do you recommend something else for that?
Is it working with 0030 skin cast?
We are about to release a new softener for our platinum silicones. Once it is available I will be posting a follow-up video to this one.
Are any of your silicone safe to wear on the skin
Yes. All of our platinum formulas are safe for skin contact.
@@brickintheyarddoes that mean even the life cast/ deadener combo is safe for skin even when it’s tacky? I’m assuming less deadner means less tacky? How long does that keep its self adhesive properties?
@@seanfarrell1832 Deadener is safe against the skin. That said, if you are working with an actor or actress with very sensitive skin you can always have them wear a small swatch of silicone on their wrist to see if they have any negative reaction.
you should not have showed me this... oh lord the things im gonna make
Uh oh!
Name silicon??
All the products are linked in the video description. More info on our website.
lets say someone lost their breast and wanted to make such prosthetic model to mimic the lost breast, HOW WOULD YOU STICK IT ON THE SKIN?
please answer it, it's very crucial information.
Sorry, I am not getting notifications for comments. A cosmetic silicone adhesive can be used (like Snappy G or Silabond) or this could be held in place under a bra. I am sure there are other ways, but that is outside of my expertise.
you're a guy, aren't you?
@@cvspvr are you asking me?
@@brickintheyard no
720p in 2023?
Oops??
For me, anything more than 720p is overkill.
@Rory Penstock I agree, but I am biased and grew up on probably 50p! 🤣
