PAPER MACHE MASK... I used: * mirror * cut newspaper * flour with water as glue * bowl of water to soften the paper * TELEVISION * spatula, round-edge * paint brush (1/2 to 1-inch wide) * PVA glue mixed with water: 1:1 ratio (initially mix 5 ml of each; add some more if needed) (pva glue is also known as Elmer's Glue, wood glue, white glue) * paint On front of a mirror, start on forehead, then proceed to which direction you feel necessary. 1) apply glue to paper (optional when paper is gonna be applied directly on SKIN) (it will be easier when you'll take off the mask later) 2) briefly dip paper in water, let it drip a little 3) apply to face repeat the above three steps until the whole face is covered with the desired thickness of the mask. (NOT COVERING THE EYES AND NOSE-HOLES) 4) Let it dry & harden. Don't move for a while. Watch a television program for a minimum of 30minutes. 5) Use a round-edge spatula to slowly pry the edges of the mask. DON'T HURRY. Once taken off, dry it some more. Use scissors to round-off the edges (apply some more paper if you want to thicken it up) 6) Use paint brush to apply pva glue-water mixture on to mask, one surface at a time, let it dry. Then the other surface, let it dry as well. 7) Repeat 6 once or twice... until it got a shiny, plasticky texture. NOTE: RINSE BRUSH UNDER FLOWING WATER, AFTER EVERY TIME FINISHED APPLYING PVA-WATER ON TO MASK.... or you'll be needing a new brush before each pva-water brushing. 8) apply paint to whatever design you like on the mask.
Even if you think it's not that flattering I really love the expression of your face on the cast; everybody's so unique and that's a wonderful thing! Amazing work!
I laughed when you said "not the most flattering image of ourself". That was my first thought after I saw mine as well. But then it is just us. No make-up, no hair do, no cute duck faces, just us. :)
My cast has lasted 6 years since watching and using your video my face has changed a lot now tho so I came to revisit your video before I make a new one later haha thank you !!!
Thank you so much miss SlipperySandpaper! I followed your video tutorial and the end result came out quite good on the first attempt.I was careful not cover my nostril openings.I let the bandages dry by sitting in the sun for 10 mins. The bandage negative came of real easy by twitching my face. The Vaseline is essential. The plaster positive took a day to cure.I am using it to prepare for a revision rhinolasty procedure.I'm from South-Africa and played some Rugby(Lock forward position) in high school which broke my nose several times and had to get a corrective sinus operation 20 years ago while at university. The surgeon was a douche(now retired with Parkinsons syndrome) and my nose is really scew and I can hardly breathe through my nose anymore. Now I can show a Ear,Nose & Throat specialist surgeon my 'before' and 'after' nose prior to surgery.I still have to do a second casting and reshape the nose with clay the way I want it to look externally but it's given me immense relief after 20 years of hating my nose and the associated low self-esteem.Thank you, thank you and thank you again.
7:38 I am so grateful for your “chill” personality, that’s going to be my best selling advice to introduce the idea of replicating Mom’s face, as she is fighting stage 4 cancer; So I’ll always have her image near to remember.
PLEASE consider making ASMR videos. You have the absolute perfect voice for ASMR, it’s so incredibly relaxing. I guarantee you’d quickly build a massive following.
Not sure why everyone saying it's "not safe." I did it just like you said to and it turned out great! Guys with stubble - shave before doing this... Left the mouth hole open though to insert a cast of my teeth I made at a dental office. Creepy factor +10.
Thank you for this! I only wanted one mask so I followed all steps up till the plaster! Then, to speed things up, I applied plaster directly to the mould on the front and back, smoothing over the strips until it looked pretty solid. Worked really well, if a little bit rougher! Thank you :)
I want to make a Terminator mask and did not have much idea on how to make perfect fit to my face, then I came across with your video tutorila SlipperySand paper....I got a more steady ground now on how to get it done, Thank you so much for sharing...!! take care, all best,,! :)
Thank you so much! I'm going to use this as a jumping off point in making prosthetics. Very easy-to-use tutorial. I hope to achieve expert results as you have.
Awesome demo! I didn't realize you could cast yourself. I'm wondering if you ever tried doing the eyes as the last step and just do the remainder "in braille". Seems like it would be possible, but maybe not worth it.
Thank you. you're a life saver by making this video because I need to make a face mold so I can make gelatin molding for my costume. Thanks again for the help
I REALLY needed this! I'm taking AP 3D Art this year and I have to make a creative mask for covid, so I wanna make the mask from the nose tip down to the chin my actual face and use paint to get it as realistic as possible! Thank you so much and I can't wait to try this
I used crazy glue and stripped newpaper pieces and applied it directly to my face. The mask mashe is thinner when used with glue. Use sand paper strips to smooth the surface. I tried paint but I chose my own cosmetics instead for a realistic portrait of myself. Self ❤ project.
I’d love to make a Vincent Sinclair style mask, or just a base to make more masks from, and this looks like the easiest method I’ve seen so far!! Thank you!!
I'm a professional, and plaster bandages are safe to use on the skin, but a more professional way of getting a cast would be using alginate which it about £8 a kg which is cheap! And then applying plaster bandages over the top to create a shell. Do not ever apply plaster or plaster of Paris straight to the skin as it heats up as it sets and that's when accidents happen!
came across this randomly and watched out of intrigue as i couldn't work out why anyone would do this as i'm not a craft sort o person. Cracking job though Girl...even if i am still none the wiser.....i do know they used to do this in days long since past when people passed away. Respect, peace
This is the best face casting video I have watched! I was wanting to make a masquerade mask, but doing this will allow me to make multiple masks on top of a piece that is already the size of my face. If you wanted to do this again, and make the finished mold stronger, you can use dental stone. We have used plaster of paris before and it became to brittle. Where did you get the latex?
This was so freaking helpful dude. I would 100% have a panic attack if I had to do it the alginate mold way, so finding a more simple method is life saving
Thank you so much for this. I'm making a demogorgon mask from stranger things. Never made a latex mask before, and this is gonna set me up with a good base.
So I did this is school, but we had to let someone else do it for us and I got stuck with an awful mask. They also didn't tell us what the plaster strips were called so I couldn't get a redo. With this video, I not only got the name for the strips, but also an in-depth tutorial on it, so THANK YOU!!
So I followed your directions exactly but when I went to use it the first time 4 days after it finished drying the outer coating of wood glue just peeled right off. It didn't stick to the plaster it was sort of like a latex. I don't know what the hell happened but like I said I followed your directions exactly and it didn't work any ideas?
Thank you so much for shering your techniques. I want to cast my face and I going to use your techniques. But the only things I would like to hace muy eyes open. Is it possible? Any tips on how I could do that?
Thanks , you gave me an idea,, my daughter and I, are going to make a fairy theme party for my granddaughter,,,,,, and we are making a willow tree but I want a face on it ,,,,,Mother Nature,,, so I’m going to ask my daughter to cast her face ,,,,,, thank u
Colin Baker I would say relaxed, because when you make prosthetics, and are wearing them, you aren't going to have a clenched face, you'll have a relaxed face
+SlipperySandpaper it went really well, i left the plaster bandages to set over night, applied a thinish layer of latex, used hair dryer to dry it off and mixed a reasonable thick yet runny diy plaster. the latex is still whole and separate and the plaster cast is quite smooth, i just kinda rushed mine when i was applying the bandages
Hello Gret vid, and informative. I want to do this but i heard that plaster heats and can burn you when curing. Is there a casting type you specifically use?
is there a substitute for wood glue? i want to make some Venetian and masquerade masks for prom and for fun, and I already need t buy the plaster and the plaster strips. i have the rest of the materials and since I live in the use, most supplies cost more plus shipping! :( plus I couldn't find wood glue that wasn't too overpriced and in such large quantities. and with corona I cant leave the house and try to look for supplies in my local hardware stores :(((((
Botj times I tried to do this alone, I failed miserably. Then, I asked to anoyhet person to help me on this and yhe final result was overall good (somehow not as detailed as yours, but still good). I really would likr to make an entite head one, but I don't see this happrning só soon. Well, congratulations for your work!
I really like how you used ordinary house hold items and kept it simple. Nice work.
Can you put liquid laytex on it to make a face mask? For Halloween?
Idk
PAPER MACHE MASK... I used:
* mirror
* cut newspaper
* flour with water as glue
* bowl of water to soften the paper
* TELEVISION
* spatula, round-edge
* paint brush (1/2 to 1-inch wide)
* PVA glue mixed with water: 1:1 ratio (initially mix 5 ml of each; add some more if needed)
(pva glue is also known as Elmer's Glue, wood glue, white glue)
* paint
On front of a mirror, start on forehead, then proceed to which direction you feel necessary.
1) apply glue to paper (optional when paper is gonna be applied directly on SKIN)
(it will be easier when you'll take off the mask later)
2) briefly dip paper in water, let it drip a little
3) apply to face
repeat the above three steps until the whole face is covered with the desired thickness of the mask. (NOT COVERING THE EYES AND NOSE-HOLES)
4) Let it dry & harden. Don't move for a while. Watch a television program for a minimum of 30minutes.

Swiper Fox sounds good
thats the way i was looking for
Bingo, thank you!!
Even if you think it's not that flattering I really love the expression of your face on the cast; everybody's so unique and that's a wonderful thing! Amazing work!

@stephaniecarlos195 how is your mum doing? Did u manage to make a cast of her face? I wish I had one of my mom she died when I was 15.
You make it look easy. So I tried it, and it was easy. Thanks!
PLEASE consider making ASMR videos. You have the absolute perfect voice for ASMR, it’s so incredibly relaxing. I guarantee you’d quickly build a massive following.
This video was just what I needed! I have a very large head and a full beard, and it still worked better than expected. Thank you!
Not sure why everyone saying it's "not safe." I did it just like you said to and it turned out great! Guys with stubble - shave before doing this... Left the mouth hole open though to insert a cast of my teeth I made at a dental office. Creepy factor +10.
Yeah you’re right i also did it and nothing happend + plaster bandages are created to be used on skin so these coments are so annoying....
This video has made me confident that...I can do it...not so poorly lol. Thanks for uploading this years ago for us ppl in the future
Thank you for this! I only wanted one mask so I followed all steps up till the plaster!

I was always told this was impossible, but yours turned out great.
it's 2024 and i;m watching it, good one

awesome demo... and very clear on what you were saying.. thanks for sharing
Your are the series awesome teaching. Easy to understand. Many professional teaching I don't understand what the heck they're teaching. lol

I got the latex at my local Halloween store
Copydex glue is liquid latex 😉
Glue is not liquid latex. Most lash glues are, but regular craft glue (like elmers) is PVA glue.
Great idea!!
@@somebodysaltaccount4389 Copydex IS a latex-based glue.
If you stop at 5:34 then you can call this a Micheal Myers mask tutorial lol Great video!
Very useful, I will definitely reference this later. Thanks for the sharing this skill!
This was so freaking helpful dude. I would 100% have a panic attack if I had to do it the alginate mold way, so finding a more simple method is life saving
SUPER helpful! Thank you for this... it worked well!
Brilliant! Well explained, very useful, nicely done. Thank you!
Omg thank you for making this just that easy!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ ... ❤️🇨🇦 please make tons more videos!! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for the video!! Now I’m totally making a carbon fiber ninja mask!! 😂👍🏻
Thank you so much for this. I'm making a demogorgon mask from stranger things. Never made a latex mask before, and this is gonna set me up with a good base.
Very informative love how you explained everything, thank you🙃
How many layers of the plaster bandage do you have to put on?. THANKS
So I did this is school, but we had to let someone else do it for us and I got stuck with an awful mask. They also didn't tell us what the plaster strips were called so I couldn't get a redo. Excellent! Very informative and helpful.
Beautiful model.
Peace and Joy!
I'm doing this on a plastic mannequin head to make phantom mask from the 19th film, thanks for the help!

Daniel Is my brother's name
Matchmaker matchmaker make me a match find me a find catch me a cath
I must look like a yeti in this getup
I was thinking about that scene the WHOLE VIDEO lmao
Supar
Thank you for the instruction. Very informative on how to do this on your own. Your also a very beautiful woman.
Would one of these work for shaping leather masks? Asking because the leather needs to be damp
Thankyou for sharing!! I will definitely try this💐🙌
You look so cute and friendly w/out make-up. With one, you are a different person
Thank you so much! This is SO easy to follow. Great job!
That was the goal! I hope you have success in making your face cast
I'm thinking of using the mask as a base to make prosthetics on, I'm going to see if it works
When you added olive oil to the inside of the mask I was like, "I could mix a salad in there!"
Lmao
I always see these dotted roll things and don’t know what they are XD I may buy it and follow your tutorial!!
Wow that is amazing Thank you so much for sharing this xxx 😍🤩

Thank you for this awesome and easy tutorial! I see the channel is not active anymore, but I hope you are still making cool art :)
Amazing lady....😍
Awesome🌱
Good job easy to understand, keep it up
Are you supposed to clench your teeth during this process or be relaxed? May be a silly question but could determine a tight or loose mask.
Colin Baker I would say relaxed, because when you make prosthetics, and are wearing them, you aren't going to have a clenched face, you'll have a relaxed face
Definitely going to try this. Thanks for making it look not so hard :)
Great video only thing is the audio was quiet then it was loud then it went back to being quiet
Could you use this as a base to make and bake clay masks on? Or would that crack the base?
Thanks you did a good job ,i subscribed, liked and hit the bell, take care from Canada.
Loved it. Thanks.
Great job !
Thank you!!! Your amazing :)
So should you use any kind of Grease or anyting to prep the cast before you start molding things onto it?
beautiful! im going to try it. thank you for your video
could you line the inside of the plaster bandages with a thin layer of liquid latex then add the plaster mix to give a smoother finish to the cast?
+Gary Moden I'm not sure how the plaster would react to the latex, but if you try it and it works let me know!
This is really very helpful video. Thank you so much ❤️
is there a substitute for wood glue? i want to make some Venetian and masquerade masks for prom and for fun, and I already need t buy the plaster and the plaster strips. i have the rest of the materials and since I live in the use, most supplies cost more plus shipping! :( plus I couldn't find wood glue that wasn't too overpriced and in such large quantities. and with corona I cant leave the house and try to look for supplies in my local hardware stores :(((((
So when you said to 2 parts of plaster, does that mean fill the whole disposable plastic cup?
Botj times I tried to do this alone, I failed miserably. Then, I asked to anoyhet person to help me on this and yhe final result was overall good (somehow not as detailed as yours, but still good). I really would likr to make an entite head one, but I don't see this happrning só soon. Well, congratulations for your work!
Cool. Well done. How heavy is that? And how strong is that? Is possible to do a whole head piece?
Ian Leahy id assume you could put a bald cap over your hair and do it but idk
