  • Ray Hayden here, in a Part I of II video, I show how top mount vertical blinds can be removed. If your attach points are different, do not panic, just search through a number of variations on RUclips to find the type of clips or attachments you have, and you should be able to easily find the type you have.

Yay Ray! Thank you for showing us that there's a 3rd clip in the middle and for mentioning that we have to tilt the mechanism when pushing the clips. Those 2 pieces of info made all the difference :)

I know - these things are a hoot, even when we are the ones who originally hang them, it is typically so long between working with them that I forget HOW I got them installed! Thanks for watching!

Probably one of the best videos on RUclips :) Straight to the point without a life story and good camera work showing how the brackets unclip. 11 out of 10 :)

You're welcome thanks for teaching. My next project to try is to put up the the track thing that hides the electronic cords so they're not showing going down the wall to the outlet.

    • @rayhayden

That sounds fantastic! In the new house (about 20 years old), there are two sets of wires that come down the wall, inside the wall - The wires had been to some lighting under shelves, but we removed those, and I could not seal the wires up in the wall because the hole they came out was tiny (in tile!). So I used an electrical box to protect them, and we ended up having pictures to cover the boxes. When I have time, I want to see about some other solution for that "fix" - LOL! I was talking with my wife about this sort of thing too... many years ago, when electricity was first being brought out, no one had wiring in the walls (and really, who would have wanted that?!?) They had metal pipe running around the homes to protect the wiring, and the wall boxes stood out from the wall... while it might not be as pretty - it certainly allows for easy access to the wiring!

Perfect! Was trying to figure out how to get our 30 year old blinds down from the previous owners. Figured it had something to do with the metal clips but couldn't find screws so understanding how they decoupled really helped.

Thanks for watching, I figured when we took them down that it would be a good idea to make a video to help others with this... they do seem to be a pain sometimes!

As a dedicated cat parent - all blinds - whatever the form or shape must be removed, LOL
But, - I had to watch it to make sure I had that devilish smile that I was done with the plasticy, cranky, slippery blinds when we moved away from the Big City!
P.S. Miss Demeanor! You must show more than your willingness to help Mister Ray!

I'm so nervous! Wish me luck! I've never had to take down blinds or install curtains. Today for the first time ever I'm going to attempt to take down all the blinds in my home and replace them with brand new curtains and sheers. I've been procrastinating for months. I'm terrified I won't be able to get it done... But I refuse to go another day with these old blinds they look horrendous 🤦‍♀️ thanks for the video seems pretty simple for the most part.

LOL - We moved from that house, but at the new house, we have windows seats everywhere for the cats... and they do love it.
The interesting thing about why I even made this video was that working with different types of blinds - they all seemed to be a real pain, and I figured that if I make a video of this one (and another one I did) that someone, somewhere, is going to find it, and have less trouble dealing with them!
      Thanks for watching!

I have vertical blinds in the living room and dining rooms and I hate them! When the blinds are pulled open they centered up in the middle instead and thus looks unappealing. I have had problems and no knowledge of how to remove them and am so glad I've found this DIY video that I will attempt and see how hard it is. I am not savvy at all on things like this.

    • @rayhayden
      @rayhayden  4 года назад

My wife and I once purchased verticals that had been for a double sliding door... and when we installed the top, we noticed that it pulled to the center, which we thought was ridiculous. Turns out we ordered the wrong type, and the wording was just goofy on how you order them, so we got the right one, and they looked as they ought to, where they stack to the side. I have actually never seen an installation that makes sense to have them stack in the center - but I am sure it exists. The OTHER issue we had was with our refrigerator, opening left or right... is it medical right, or OUR right? We had to change the handles and hinges on our refrigerator recently when we purchased a new one. Too funny, but it gave me something else to make a video of!

      Good news!!!!!!!!!
Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send Jesus, who has been appointed for you as the Messiah.
      Acts 3:19‭-‬20 CSB
From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, because the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
      Matthew 4:17 CSB
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
      Mark 1:15 CSB
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Jesus answered, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
      John 3:3‭, ‬5 CSB
Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
      1 John 2:6 NIV
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
      John 14:6 CSB
For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.
      John 3:16 GNB
_Jesus_ actually died, *_GOD_* has _His blood_ as a sacrifice for your sins. *_GOD_* killed *_His_*_ Only Son_ for you. All your sins: sexual immorality (fornication, adultery(lust), LGBTQIA+ , pornography) murder( hating someone, envying, abortion and killing someone) , theft( murder, lying, abuse, corruption, disrespect, racism) and idolatry (greed, love of money, worship of other gods and pride) can be forgiven only if you believe in _Jesus_; that __*_God_* sacrificed _Him_ for the atonement of all your sins, and that_*He*_ raised _Him_ up 3 days later. And now He sits on the Right Hand of *_The Father_*__, ruling over all creation as __*_Lord and Saviour_* of the world.
Jesus Christ died for your sins, and only through Him you can be forgiven of all your sins.
You only go to heaven because of faith and belief in The death and resurrection of _The Son of _*_God_* for the sins of the world.
Hell is for those reject GOD'S Only Son, they will be burnt by the wrath of The Almighty God.
Believe that all your sins are forgiven because of The Blood of Jesus, who is The Messiah, The Saviour.
Repent, turn away from your sins and live because, on the Cross of Jesus Christ your sins have been paid in full. Let Jesus is our only Hope, because

Can you please show a video of how you took the brackets and decorative part off I’m struggling to remove mine

At around 2:38 seconds, I remove the mechanism. I don't think I could have shown that safely where I was... and for the wrap around "decorative" cover, but around 2:01, I removed the end caps and discuss that they are just attached to the front (long) cover piece. I then jump over to 4:06, where I am removing that part. I had removed the two side screws (Hex Screws), and I left the CENTER hex screw, which I removed last.
Thanks for watching, let me know if this is helpful at all.

I understand, I made another video about another set, because they had been different than these. Some things really ought to have a universal standard to them. Check out this other video and see if it is at all helpful.
