Here is a way we have found to easily fix common issues with vertical blinds. We use these in our apartment homes and they are a great inexpensive way to block out light and provide privacy. They do, however, have a few issues that come up and here are some quick and easy fixes to help make these home repairs.

I’ve been living in a brand new apartment complex for six months and even the maintenance man didn’t know how to fix blind issue where was off one gear. Thank you so much. Everything looks aesthetically pleasing now.
I had the first problem with the blind that would not settle with the rest because it was facing the wrong way by 90 degrees. It took a bit of courage to grab the mechanism to twist it back to the same as all the other carriers, but I swallowed hard and twisted. A loud click followed, and the job was done. I took an up-close picture of the connection area/plastic hardware so that I could better assess how to reinsert everything. Your instructions were great. Yeah I moved in and each day one slat falls down I will replace it with curtains period!
Greedy f-ing companies MAKE them like that so you’ll spend more money replacing them. When that happens never replace them with a like kind, like you said switch to curtains or something

Thanks for your clear repair instructions, very helpful. I have 2 sets of these blinds installed on sliding glass doors in a short term rental. The downstairs set operates well, no problems. The set on the main floor are used frequently, and are often damaged by renters unfamiliar with operating them. Now the problem is that the white cord used to slide the panels open and closed is jammed, so will not move. I am able to manually slide the panels open. Is there a way to fix this cord?
It’s possible that if you take apart the gear part where the cord goes that you could get it going again. But, to be honest, We got rid of all of the corded ones at our rentals. Tenants seemed to struggle with them more.

What’s happens if the clip to hold the blind in place is broken?
I’m having issue re installing the part that goes horizontal over the metal rail. I ordered the 3 clips that attach to the actual square rail but I can not find the plastic edging that goes over that blind that keeps it ridged

Hey thanks so much for the video unfortunately my issue isn't there. I've just gone to install a blind and the mechanism is faulty. Both sides of the string close not open. I've pulled on the string to 2 3rds of the way along and they open and close. But about a 3rd away from the string there's a block of about 5 of the wee plastic sections that clump together tightly. After this point is where both string sides only open . Please help

Hi.... Do you have any thoughts on why a chain on vertical blinds would suddenly, like in the last 30 minutes become hard to pull and make a "rickety" sound when pulling? I took the cap off, it looked ok....I have no idea. By the by.....you are so handsome!
How do you make curved blinds straight. My plastic verticals are bent
I'm here because my blinds won't spin open but it's fine spinning closed. I have two strings one to collapse it open and closed, which works, but the ball chain string just opens the blinds a quarter way and the string just clicks as it's pulled thereafter without opening the blinds any further. Suggestions?

What about if the actual clip is broken? Is there a quick fix for that or do I just try hunt down 1 new clip? Not sure what the correct name for it is.

I have been trying unsuccessfully to place the little gear (that mates with the rotating rod). Reference approximately minute 2:30 of your video. It keeps falling out before I can place the clip. Also what should the position of the gear's teeth be relative to the clip?
Nice video, I have vertical blinds on my sliding doors entering outdoor porch but when opens it all pulls on one side when opening, how do I fix or change that??
How to fix the click when open or close. I have one thay clicks i clicked them all the make sure they all align. But one still clicks when open but not when close.

Great vid! The prob i have with my vertical blinds on my sliding door it doesnt move side to side like when i open it like half of it moves back together and the other half just stays there and i have push it back what would be the best way to fix this?
Check all of the sliding pieces and make sure they are all in the frame right. Sometimes one of them can get off the track and it can bind up and not slide right.
If they all seem to be on there the same way, then try some WD40 on the track and the bar down the middle. See if that helps it start sliding better.

I have new Levolor vertical blinds, and mine don't seem to turn as show in your video. Have you seen any blinds like those?
Do you know how i would fix one that is freely sliding? Like, if I spin them open or close, they work just fine but if I slide them across so there not blocking the window and I go to pull them back across the window, only one is attached to the slider so only one will slide back unless I grab them with my hand and manually pull it with my hands.

Okay but none of my blinds are turning I twist the twist rod thing half turn and it stops without turning any of the blinds open or closed.

is it possible to change the side the blinds slide too
Yes. They will go either way. You just have to unsnap the whole mechanism from the mounting brackets and flip it around. Then snap it back in. They are meant to be mounted either way. It is a little awkward to do with all of the slats attached. So you might pull them all off first.

I’m confused on how everthing is supposed to sit when placing it back on the angle showing the gear and all that the angle doesn’t show how it should sit before placing in the blind itself 😅
