    Making hay while the sunshine is shinning for making RUclips videos. Definitely going to work in your favor. I lost 3 days editing due to Adobe Premiere crashing and corrupting my project file.
    Good work bro.

      @@nzbuilder do they heat bigger homes? Saw on the website it was only up to about 200sqm? Our build is around 253sqm

    • @nzbuilder
      @nzbuilder  3 года назад +1

      I think the rule of thumb they use is 1kw per 10sqm, but you would take the garage space off this and you usually want the bedrooms to be slightly cooler than the living areas. We have installed ducting to move some of our warm air around, and included a fresh air feed for summer on this same set of ducting :)

    Very helpful vlog thanks. Could you talk more about the cost of the fireplace, the installation cost, also about the process applying for building consent. Cheers

      Fireplace prices are on Pyroclastic Website, I installed it myself and included the model on the house plans I submitted to council :)

    That is awesome Josh. I take it you installed it yourself, if so are we as builders allow to do so and what are the steps to doing so on the practical and legal side of things?

    • @nzbuilder
      @nzbuilder  3 года назад

      Hey I installed it myself, roofers did the flashing for me as part of roof price, its pretty straight forward to be honest, It needs to be on consent, then just follow instructions

    Hi Josh how have you found the pyro now that you have had it a while? How large is your house your heating? We are looking at heating 175sqm of modern, well insulated souble glazed house ( with the help of a heat transfer ) do you think it would be up to it?
    Cheers, Pete

      Hey Pete, I am sitting by it now, and love it, it cranks but its really different to a normal fire that burns really hot and then fizzles. The ceramic kiln inside means it doesn't feel roasting hot like a traditional fire but it stays hotter for longer, I think from memory its 18kw output, they say you need approx 1kw per 10sqm in a modern house - the only change I would make is putting it on a stand so it sits slightly higher in the room

    Hi Josh, great videos, not sure if you have time to comment this, but our newly purchased lifestyle property has a "Nestor Martin S41 Diesel Fire" which we are now thinking switch to a log burner, after watching your videos, we are thinking to get to Pyro classic. If we do so, do we still need consent from the council (Canterbury area)? Since we already have a Diesel Fire (It is just like a log fireplace looking but runs diesel with a big diesel tank outside of the building), I wonder if we still need consent for this. Also do you think it's worth it, we never saw people in NZ use a Diesel fireplace and the company (called toppservice west coast) that originally have this product is now discontinued. Thank you Yuan

      Hi, my mother in Christchurch switched her diesel heater for a pyroclassic and yes it had to be consented.

    • @nzbuilder
      @nzbuilder  Год назад

      you’ll need a consent to change model of fire - basically they are checking you meet all the minimum clearances of that new model - I have no experience with diesel fires

    Do they have different style handles you can choose? Or is it just the old school wooden knob?

    • @nzbuilder
      @nzbuilder  3 года назад

      Im pretty sure you could get, or make different handles, the wooden ones seem to last 10 - 20 years from what I hear though

  • @Sgten01

    Hi Josh so how does this compare to a woodburner from something like mitre10 for $1500-$2000. This thing is almost $4k so does it perform that much better for the money?
    Hows your experience been so far? If you load it up before you go to bed at say 10 or 11pm would it still be warm by 6-7am like they claim?

    • @nzbuilder
      @nzbuilder  3 года назад +1

      The fire is legit,
      Uses half the amount of wood that my Woodsmen Flare did in my old house, that alone will pay itself off over a few seasons.
      Definetly will burn all night (with the right wood) there was a period in winter where It was going 24/7. You could move the embers around in the morning, chuck a log on, open the turbo slide and its away again.
      The only thing I would say is it different to a traditional fire, its more controlled and constant, which also means sometimes when you stand next to it you don't get that raging heat feel you would from a big steel box, but thats why its effeicent.

      Definitely worth the money, I bought one her in vic Australia about 5 years or so ago and it's awesome. Longest I've ever gotten was 17hours without topping it up and there was still a decent amount of coals in there. But generally easily get 10-12hour burn no worries at all.
