In this video, I aim to give practical advice from experience and from what I understand the Bible would urge us to as 'good evangelists' and ambassadors of Christ. Though the term 'warrior poet' is meant to be broad to include all those skilled protectors who live and die for higher purpose, my personal worldview is the Christian one.

love how open you are with your christianity. It gives me some courage to go out and not care what others think. Just to go out do what Christ needs me to regardless of repercussions and persecution.
Jesus said, "God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way." - Matthew 5:11-12
"Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus WILL suffer persecution." -2 Timothy 3:12
I thank you for sharing this video. I agree with you. Respect is earned and cannot be demanded.
TheEagleCorpse his will be done, brother.
gave me courage to talk to my son joining the military. My arguments with God aren't yours.
Exactly ‘Eagle’. It matters not what others think when we obey our master: King Jesus Christ. Why? Because we’re not here to please man, but God. We’re in a new army-the army of God. Soldiers of the cross are we. We do what we’re commanded by our Savior, but remember to love our neighbors & enemies. No, we’re not to compromise on our convictions/beliefs, but we are to do our duties to the best of our ability. We do it for our Lord. And have no shame. The reason why the world doesn’t understand us, is because we’re different from the rest. We have joy in God; they don’t. The world’s way of having joy is in worldly pursuits: $, power, sex, toys, and pride in themselves (fleshly, comparing themselves with one another-like dog eat dog: stupid alpha’s). Our King is the only true Alpha (he said, “I am the Alpha and Omega, beginning and the end).
some of the strongest churches ive ever attended are the ones in Marine towns. those churches were full of men of action! i remember our church loading up uhauls and being in south carolina after huricane hugo on saturday, spending all weekend helping the people whose homes were just destroyed, then turning around and heading back down on monday with my unit, SOI. i remember what a testimony it was to tell my fellow Marines, yeah, i just got back from here with my other quick response force...
cool to hear this
When Hurricane Hugo struck, I was only 9. But because the eye wall came right over us, every detail of that storm was vividly etched into my mind with perfect recall. The story I love to tell most is how I saw COMPLETE STRANGERS coming to our aid. I was old enough to understand that strangers don't give their all for strangers. But I saw people driving in from as far away as Mississippi and Ohio with their pickup trucks loaded with gas, chainsaws, bottled water and most of all, people who genuinely cared. They would literally drive around and stop at random to help cut tress off cars and homes, making sure people had water to drink, and helping them gas up their generators. I have always felt such appreciation for those people who I knew I'd never be able to directly thank or even know who they were. I am SO GLAD, after 28 years, to have the opportunity to thank someone specifically and directly for what they did for us. God bless you and your team that came to help us out when we were hurting. You'll never know how deep our appreciation is.
thank you for that blessing. because that it truly is. thank you.
i actually appreciate that when he mentioned those of us who aren't christian to skip to the next video. He was very polite and genuine, and thats why i keep coming back.
Being a Christian doesn't make one a pacifist... 👍✝🇺🇸
Christians love to be literal with the bible and gods word. The commandments are the rules set in stone. Those are gods command. So the commandment "Thou shalt not kill" is pretty literal. It doesn't say "Thou shalt not kill except for when they deserve it.". Now, that isn't practical. Wars are fought, etc. But people need to stop picking and choosing their judgments.
@@thadood4373 It's more literally "Do not murder" as opposed to "do not kill". Otherwise we can take it further out of context regarding eating meat. It is referring to killing someone without any sort of just cause.
@@EmanKcin8820 You're using the word "literally". It literally says "Thou shalt not kill". If it was supposed to be murder, it would say that.
Nope. Again, I said literally because the literal Hebrew translation is very clearly referencing murder, or unrighteous/unjust killing. You don't need to take my word for it, look it up yourself. God bless.
@deucedeuce22oz I would suggest being a little more cautious with regards to the context of scripture. You're not incorrect about the verses existing in scripture, but you are dancing with the possibility of taking those verses out of context. Looking at scripture in its context is vital to our understanding of God. You made some great points though!
Thank you for giving me motivation to be a better ambassador for Christ in my daily struggles on duty.
Stfu lmao
The daily struggles lying to people 🤣🤣

Watching 3 years later (new to WPS). Being a Christian, an active duty SFC in the Army and a protector, I am glad RUclips recommended this video to me this morning. Being a Christian in the Army for the past 12 years has been a difficult road with many roadblocks and detours but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. This video gives me motivation to keep at it and know there are others with the same mindset.
Army vet/firefighter here. So few warrior alphas out there that follow and love Christ. Thank you brother so good to hear this.
🙏
I'm a Christian, a minister and a warrior poet. Love this video. Love that mindset. Love you referenced one of my favorite verses of Scripture. We've engaged before, you probably don't remember. That's cool though. One thing I see from you, out of your videos, and especially when you bring up Jesus is your joy. I can see it in you. What a great choice to choose joy in all the ugliness in this world and circumstances. But, ah, the ability to be serious in that joy as well. I think that should be a warrior poet standard.
Side note: Not sure if you saw, but I tried to connect with you on Facebook. I understand if it's not your thing, or whatever. just wondering.
+Brad Julien so far behind on getting back with people. So sorry
John Lovell Not a problem at all. Completely understand.
John, I'm 53 years old. When I grow up, I want to be like you. Love ya man!
John, thanks for being such a positive influencer in this social media world, you're truly a gift from God. Over the last 6 weeks I found myself coming back to Jesus after being far to distant for to long. As an army veteran and security professional your channel was always one of my favourites, but now that I found these videos hidden in the midst I couldn't be more thankful. God bless you and bless your work!
John,
Been there, done that. Retired from the military after 23 yrs and a being a stronger Christian for the last 10 and while difficult to be a man of God, it is not impossible to live a godly life by using the tips you mentioned. You're right, while our love for Christ should be reflected on those around us, we can still be very successful, respected as a leader, and very approachable when people need spiritual help or support. I worked with some rough crowds and I know indeed there are no atheists in a foxhole. When it counts, those who respect your beliefs will approach you for prayer and advise knowing who you are and what you stand for. I enjoyed your video.
Thank you for sharing about your Christian faith. It was a great encouragement to me as a physical therapist assistant who works with people with various afflictions and sees death often. Thanks for being a real man. I am reminded of the definition of a man as one who rejects passivity, accepts responsibility, leads courageously and expects the greater reward. Pastor Robert Lewis. I enjoy the videos and the various topics. Well done.
Good vid brother!
Jarhead6 hey i didnt expect see you here.Really like your videos.
Thank you for posting this video. My BF and I are Christians and we are both joining the military. I just shared this video with him. Hooyah sir. Thank you for your service. Thank you for pushing other Christians further and showing us kids an example to live by.
Definitely needed this message. Thanks for posting.
Thanks a lot for this. You're experience rings absolutely accurate with mine in the service with the Infantry units I was assigned with. I had the same challenges and had to earn their respect in hilariously similar manners. Proud to see someone of your position and experience stay true to your faith. Keep on keepin' on!
I dont think I've found someone/channel that I can identify with as much as you/yours. I'm premilitary, in EMS, a fitness/well being guy, a gun/tactical guy and now a self-identified warrior poet. Recently, I've found the importance of a strong mind and you're further advancing that thought for me. Totally binge watching your videos right now lol, keep em going brother. Happy to be a part of the warrior poet society.
+Dom Gagliano glad to have you brother
Remember, be kind, trustworthy, dedicated and everything a reflection of Christ would be, but don’t compromise who you are called to be! We always need to tell people about Christ and some times we can use words!
Great video...love hearing your experiences! Our family is in EMS and can relate! Keep up the great work!!!
Gas at friendly is $2.04???? I'm moving......oh yea, and I also served in the military as a Christian, 4 tours in the middle was a mental struggle at times, but to be honest, if I wasn't I may not have made it. Not saying that God "saved" me on a specific day, but having a rock to mentally rely on helps a lot. Seen the biggest baddest men can lose it under some conditions, strong faith can go a long way.
Hello from the future. Gas is $1.75
ConcealCarryProtect wtf you really did
Def good to hear this and be reminded that there still is genuine people in this world, good video and thank you for all you've done n still do!! GOD BLESS!!
I have no problem having served both as a Marine and Army Soldier, and yet, be a Catholic Christian. Semper Fidelis, Sua Sponte Rangers Lead The Way and GOD ( Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) Bless The United States of America!!✝️🙏💪🤘💥🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Josh what are you? A JW?
Catholic Christian, just be a Christian fellow man.
My hubby is still in the Army, soon to retire. What he is struggling with the most right now is not being able to attend church because of covid. He really misses service. It is a great comfort to him. He is at Fort McNair right now and after 23 years he will be home for good soon
This is awesome. I had the same experience in the Corps. I was much closer to the people from my church than other Marines. Surprisingly, I didn't get any crap from people about being a "church boy". If anything, they respected me more. As you mentioned, it doesn't hurt to be good at your job either. God bless you, John. Thanks for sharing your faith. I'd love to sit down and talk to you one day.
Your openness on your faith is inspiring. Thank you.
Thank you John!! You are doing what we all need to see and hear.
I needed this today brother! God Bless!
Thank you brother - really great advice. God bless you and your ministry.
Spot on advice. Reflecting on a couple decades of military service, this is exactly how to conduct yourself. Fellow soldiers will notice your professionalism and dedication first, and then they'll ask how you do it. Great opportunities will present themselves, so be ready always to give an account.
New to the channel..Thank you John for your service and your views on faith!
I appreciate you and your messages! God bless you and your family.
I’m serving at an EOD unit and this information is perfect for what I’ve been struggling with. Thank you and keep up the great work.
keep them coming, love your videos!!
Thank you brother for sharing...I love your viewpoints, and shared the video. I look forward to more from you...
Really appreciate these kinds of videos man!
Another great video by John Lovell. He's one of my favorite people on the interwebz. Thank you so much for all you do.
The Lord is definitely my shield and I am going to lean against him every day of service.
Brother, this is the video I needed to see. Thanks
Awesome vid my brother!! God bless you and your family!! Semper Fi!!
I love your honesty and sense of humor. An excellent video, sir. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this, I needed that encouragement. I like your instructions mingled with your humor. Keep it up.
Great message John , Thanks for sharing !
I just wanted to say man you have quickly become my favorite channel to watch. I really appreciate your views and opinions on things. I always like hearing another vets opinions and thoughts on things. God bless
Bro! You're the man! I am blessed by your example. It's extremely encouraging and your wisdom resonates with me. I am totally with you on this topic. Thank you for what you do.
Some great advice, thanks for sharing!
i enjoy your stories John Lovell, down to earth.
I had the same trouble as a police officer back in my "service years." Admittedly, I grew distant and believe I'm still struggling with the repercussions of that.
Phenomenal vid John. You’re awesome! Much respect!
Loved this video brotha !!!! God bless
Great advice. Thank you for this video.
Great Stuff, I appreciate your thoughts, thanks for sharing them
I am a retired policeman. I am a Christian. You nailed it. Thank you for serving Christ and your country
Great points glad you made them I think it'll help a lot of people.
My young adults group was just talking about this. There's 2 paramedics in our group and they brought it up, I struggle with being bold enough to be myself at work. I generally conform to blend in to avoid persecution. Great information for me in this video
Sam Wagner my need to fit in almost forces me to act as"cool" as the people I'm with. In the military I forgot how to socialize without crude humor. I had to get out because my spiritual growth had stalled out.
Thanks John, much appreciated
Great topic and great advice. 15 yrs USMC/LE. I second all of this. "Relax, Holy Roller!" Hahaha Excellent advice! "Don't be so heavenly minded that you're of no earthly good."
+jBravo3 you rock bud 👊
Great content. Remember your spiritual disciplines works all the time and it was something I needed to hear again
John, awesome! You are right about holy rolling around alphas. I was in the Army for eight years and man was it difficult. Nobody wants to hear what you have to say. I was a 63S Heavy Wheel Vehicle Mechanic with 3rd ID, 1st Cavalry, and 1st ID. Loved my job but hated that nobody was a Christian but me. If you said one thing about Christianity people would just walk away like you expended gas. Lonely world for a Christian. My experience was different. You just could not be taken seriously but now that you mentioned your fish hook story, I remember things that I could have turned around to be accepted more rather than get angry over. Keep up the great work you are doing. I have learned so much from your videos compared to my military experience. One of the opportunities I received was to become an Urban Combat Instructor, nothing compared to being a Ranger, and I notice the huge difference in discipline on your part. That's why I love your videos, they give me What I need to improve my competitive edge. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your faith. Your brother in Christ and in Arms.
really appreciate that! Thanks man
Awesome stuff man! I'm a LEO and I've had some growing pains trying to learn to be a newly saved man in my line or work, it's definitely not the norm and I constantly find myself trying to conform so I'll fit in. I'll start trying out your suggestions and see if that will help others to begin to look at me as a great example of a strong, confident Christian
rock it out bro
I'm a fireman in the same boat brother. Your comment was from a year ago. Anything different from when you posted this? God bless
John Lovell, I just found this vid. Thank you! It's appreciated.
Love your videos man, super inspirational and note worthy. Keep the great content coming
Good content, as always. Thanks John.
john my uncle was in Rangers and SF for his entire career and he has said the same things. he is also very Christian and I think it helped him immensely having and sticking to his testimony of the savior. well done and thanks for your unapologetic faith.
+Bricefsven S 👊👊
This is something I have been struggling with as a Paramedic for the last 18 years. Great video, thank you.
Enjoyed hearing your point of view. Thanks for sharing your faith.
Very well said man. Leaving for Benning at the end of February as an 18x. God is great, always! Thanks for serving, brother.
This is probably my favorite video of yours. Well said.
“All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I cut them down. They swarmed around me like bees, but they were consumed as quickly as burning thorns. In the name of the Lord, I cut them down.”
Psalm 118. Keep up the good fight brother.
Much respect to you sir. You speak on many truths. Thank you for your service and your testimony. Stay the course and stay safe.
Great video. Thank you
Topic that was on my mind thanks for adressing it sir!
It was helpful. Thank you. God bless!
Another good one.
I’m so glad I found this channel.
Great advice. I appreciate the video.
John, I sat to the right of you at the Mexican joint last night--I regret I didn't know more about you because your channel is awesome! Look forward to checking out other videos. This one was encouraging. Glad you got to hop into Farnam's class with us for a few minutes yesterday. Two days with him was an unforgettable (and inspirational) experience.
+Noel good meeting you bro, and thanks
John, first of all, Great video, I have been a subscriber to your channel for a few months now, I didn't really know you were a Christian, but liked the way you conduct yourself in words and attitude, unlike most all others here with videos on simular subjects, It now makes perfect sense, you are a True believer in Jesus Christ, excellent!!, I find it a privilege and honor to be a subscriber here. Well Done.
Great advice! God bless!
Thanks John. Love your videos. They've helped me remember to be a better man despite many struggles.
Solid info !!!
I'm just now seeing this....but very well said! Absolute wisdom!
Great Advice thanks!
I have so much respect for you Mr Lovell
That's great for everywhere. I was not a believer when I was in the military and I think it would have been a hard lonely road in the units I was in. There were some pseudo Christians but I didn't see any real devout, I could've just missed them since I wasn't one though. I bring it wherever I go though and people do laugh at me sometimes but they always call me during the hard times.
I know what you mean. When buddies I haven't talked to in ages, start going through a dark time, my phone rings. I'm glad it does.
This is my favorite video of yours!
Hey John I just got into guns about 3 years ago, now I have been in Law Enforcement now for 31 years but I always used the weapons they provided now I broke the seal lol and started getting my own doing some gunsmith work on them really enjoying it and training even more but I jumped on you tube and just watched other vids and when I watched some of yours vids I thought man this dude is real Arrogant but I continued to watch for some reason like it was a God thing I was like hold up this dude knows his stuff and I’m now a Subscriber and now seeing this video today that just popped up I am glad to call you A Brother in Christ !!!!! I could tell you more what I have seen in my 31 years in law enforcement but I don’t want to bore lol for real tho but I have had criminals say to me “Hey your a Christian ain’t you will you please Pray for me” My reaction is Absolutely even to the ride to the jail and etc !!!! Yes it’s tuff at times but at the end of the day Christ comes first and the reward is greater !!! I hope you see this message since it’s an old video!!!! Keep safe Brother
Thank you for this video.
good word Brother!
You are spot on. Thank you so much!
Very good message. GOD BLESS
It was great to meet you in FPEA convention in Florida. You are a humble , down to earth guy. Thank you. You are a great American and a decent man. It is very good we have people like you out there. You rocked the house. The wife is looking forward to invite you and your wife again. God bless you brother. Thank you for your service.
Great advice John, thx from brothers up in Canada.
John..just found your channel today love it ! By the way Christian and LE in Tenn. Thanks !
Thanks for the video Mr John. Just found your channel a few weeks a ago and I'm loving it. Needed to hear that lol thanks and God bless.
It always comes down to your personal relationship with your God. Don't be embarrassed, but rather be confident in your faith. Apologize?, no. Preach?no. Live by example.
Brother, you are awesome!
Excellent advice. Fish story was great LOL!!
Great stuff! LEO here. Definitely challenging to be Christian at work. Your advice is spot on. Thanks!
thanks for giving this insight.
Thanks for that. I watched a lot of your videos tonight (not in any order) and was waiting for one that would help me decide to subscribe or not...
