    Has it a DeX like feature? For this one reason it was neither the pixel fold nor the Honor v2 for me, but the Galaxy Fold 5.

    • @him7537
      @him7537 5 месяцев назад +1

      It's a good feature, but realistically how much have you used it? I already have a computer and had no need ever to use the dex on my fold 4. And currently have the open and I don't even miss a feature like that.

      @him7537 as someone in the dilemma of switching ecosystems...that's a question that I've been asking myself, when I find things that the Open might not have, "How much do I really use that?".
      Currently rocking the Z Fold 3 and Watch 6 Classic...but I can trade in the Fold for $1020 off of the Open, and they're currently offering a Watch 2 for $0.01, with Open purchases. Might be time to make the switch....

    I wish you could review the Honor Magic V2. I'm in Europe and currently torn between the Open and the V2. I had the V2 in my hands in a shop and it felt so so nice in the hand - but the software seems to be not so great. No shops in my area have the OnePlus Open on display unfortunately, so I can't test it. Hearing you talking about how thin the OnePlus is really makes me wonder what you would say about the Honor.

    • @PamontBahktar
      @PamontBahktar 5 месяцев назад +5

      Hi there, I have owned both devices that you are speaking about. I can tell you with absolute confidence, if you value the software experience of a phone do not buy the honor magic v2. yes the hardware is fantastic but the software experience very quickly makes you realise you made a mistake purchasing it. not all apps support horizontal multitasking, you can't create saved app pairs on your home screen, the list goes on. strongly recommend either getting the OnePlus open for a good blend between hardware and software, or if you really care about software the most I still recommend the z-folds.

    • @IEmilyI
      @IEmilyI 5 месяцев назад

      @@PamontBahktarInteresting, thank you! May I ask how different the feel in the hands is? I really liked the rounded edges of the Honor, I'm not a big fan of the sharp edges that seem to be en vogue with especially high-end smartphones nowadays. They look nice but in my small to average size hands they make phones feel unnecessarily bulky and uncomfortable to hold. I'm a bit worried that the Open would feel too bulky for me. The Z Fold 5 for example feels like a brick in my hand, which is why that one is definitely not an option for me.

    • @jorgenhjort1854
      @jorgenhjort1854 5 месяцев назад +1

      I have both. Software-wise definitely go with OnePlus, in particular, if multitasking and multi-windowing are even a little important. Hardware-wise, OMG the V2 is sexy and you can actually buy a stylus for it unlike OnePlus where it's been virtually impossible to buy the Oppo stylus anywhere in the world, even China, for a LONG time...

      I second that, absolut best software is on z fold 5.. hands down. My main driver for Pokémon Go..

    • @philippelambinet1425
      @philippelambinet1425 5 месяцев назад

      I have both. If you care about camera quality, go OnePlus Open. It is by far superior, especially in low light. For everything else, I prefer the V2. Better form factor, thinner, lighter, more premium. As far as software is concerned, i disagree with most comments. The V2 global version has good software. Sure the multitasking is less sophisticated than the Open but, seriously, what difference does it really make in real life? And the open is full of bugs. Typing a message on Microsoft Teams is a hit and miss experience. Most of the time the keyboard hides messages and often you can't even type anything. Never had this sort of hickup with the V2. I have more flexibility to setup my home page layout with the V2. Oh I almost forgot, the speakers of the OnePlus are MUCH better than the V2 speakers. Battery life is better with V2, but they're both pretty good

    One of the things i dont like about the oneplus is its small and the camera bump is big so it makes it hard to use it one handed with the cover screen. I dont mind the smaller display cause i use the inside screen a lot and i actually like big camera bumps like the vivo xiaomi etc but with how big the bump is and how small the device is, theres barely any space for your hands. Also I'm glad I didn't get the Xiaomi 14u because the multitasking is amazing. First phone that actually feels almost as good as PC to trade stocks and crypto with. Yeah it would be nice to have the customizability of Samsung but open canvas is more functional 95% of the time. But the camera really isn't as good as people hyped it up to be. It's a OnePlus camera at the end of the day

    Completely off topic here... I'm a bit of a crazy person when it comes to phones. I usually buy at least 2 per year. I have a 15 Pro Max, the Open and a Pixel 8 Pro. I have 2 lines. The Pixel is the backup right now for my work line and I recently switched to it when I was going through the issues of trying to remove the Indian version of Android 14 on my Open. Let me just say, the difference in modem / signal quality and battery life of the Open versus the Pixel was shocking. The Open is so much better it was beyond frustrating. Also, I drive a Mercedes work van and the Bluetooth / Android Auto issues i had with the Pixel versus the Open or Carplay on the 15 Pro Max was honestly ridiculous. I know the Tensor G3 is much better than previous Tensor chips but it still barely performs for me like a midrange device in overall functionality. Yes, Pixel software is buttery smooth. Yes apps open quickly. But to me, connectivity and heat management are still way behind the likes of Qualcomm and what Apple is doing with their chips. I really find it hard to recommend a Pixel device for the time being. I think Tensor being a Frankensteined version of an Exynos chip is really holding it back from true prime time use. Supposedly the G4 is going to be a version of the Exynos 2400 from European versions of the s24 which is supposedly much better, but I still feel that Tensor needs to completely break free of Exynos and into becoming its own custome built for Googpe chip before it can truly compete with Qualcomm as a flagship chip. Rumors are that true change will take place next year. I think Tensor with TSMC will finally and hopefully become truly viable in either 2025 or 2026. It's so frustrating because I love Pixel software and the hardware has becomd so good. Google had a decent excuse for a couple years using Tensor and saying it needed the custom chip to run all of its AI... But that ship sailed once Qualcomm announced the 8 Gen 3 along with all of their baked in AI features while also stating that most of those features would be backported to the 8 Gen 2. I constantly think about how great Pixel would be with a 8 Gen 3... Hell, even an 8 Gen 2 would make Pixel absolutely amazing.

    I'm curious how good the mics are on the device. Everybody talks about the cameras, but can it record a rock concert with useable audio?
    I record my band and my old LG V60 was wonderful at handling the audio, Samsung S20 Ultra was ok but there was distortion. Motorola edge+2022 is the worst phone I've ever recorded loud audio with. I wonder how OnePlus handles loud SPLs...

    Ever since that last Android 14 Update. System Launcher crashes for everything, I don't even use it, I use Nova Launcher.
    Recents looks ridiculous, is crazy zoomed in, and doesn't even show the most recent app I just used, often the last 2 apps are just missing until 2 more tries.
