It’s a damage case not wrongful termination. That would be true if it wasn’t for the stock aspect with Sony. On top of that they have ruined him by coming out publicly with the harassment. These allegations are both events where he will win. Im sure the comments he made are warning as well. Meaning some of the top people did those acts and names will be made public if you don’t settle. Wrongful firing is the area he will lose however i agree he is using it as a bargaining chip. He will get his money back and more to cover damages, maybe 75 million?
I remember everyone calling Marty a "creep" too, but it really just boils down to that company stock that was about to mature and hey all of a sudden this guy's an "issue" and gets fired and coincidentally they don't have to pay out that stock.
I'm guessing a lot of that happens to be that O'Donnell's political opinions didn't aline. He's more right leaning, and DMG is left leaning and I think he had tweeted something disparaging on that regard when O'Donnell was running for some state office where he lives.

Makes me wonder if Bungie might get to the point where they just sell the entire IP or can Sony just destroy bungie since they own the IP and move it to another company? Either way it won't be the same. I don't even think Destiny can be saved in someone elses hands unless it went to someone huge and D3 was starting. Could sony just pick another developer but who could handle this game and content that Bungie still sometimes does a great job with final shape was amazing, it almost made me wonder if that was their secreat weapon or was it really just Destiny 3? The plan was the witness destroyed all and a new solar system was born and that is where d3 comes in also a f2f premium.
The final shape is D3 in some type.. I think nothing gonna die.. Bungie have big problem but they are too long on market and gonna dig up. I waiting for next dlc and whats new.
as a woman who used to want to get into game development, i'd just like to say: women entering this industry has had catastrophic consequences on gaming. all their contributions have been 1) replacing quality writing with social commentary and dIvErSiTy, and 2) making allegations left right and center against devs who actually do worthwhile work. so fcking embarrassing and depressing. i miss the early Halo days so much.
Bungie is never gonna be the same as when they made Halo. Or even when they made Destiny 1 and 2. They're done being on top and Marathon will not change this
@blessedarethepeacemakers.1457 well it seems ro be just an extraction shooter, so no campaign or real arena PVP is basically a complete avoid to me. Cant stand the genre
That honestly sounds like a seek and destroy mission. He is not likely to win but will expose as much and spread as much dirt as possible in order to cause as much damage as possible. The lawsuit isn’t the end game.
yeah i'm guessing it is cause he wants his stock options. He's probably hoping for a settlement offer. Because he could do what you want without paying $800 an hour legal fees. He could just post it to the internet or do an interview.
@@derred723 That seems unlikely, plus a lawsuit can be a much longer process involving potentially a lot of other people who may be required to face him at depositions. One post will get some exposure while a lawsuit will get free coverage throughout and keep people talking.

Also the hidden missions and things that you pay for but they make them secret cause that’s what the RUclipsrs want so you have to watch their videos. When I heard that the RUclipsrs requested more hidden things and got it that’s when I was out. You shouldn’t have to watch a RUclips video to play content you paid for. It'd be whataboutism if he admitted to doing what he was accused of and tried to deflect, but he denies it, so it's not whataboutism. Also, whataboutism doesn't mean the point is invalid. That shows discrimination and targeting that is very blatant if they're ignoring more serious allegations and just accepting false claims because they don't like the guy. If someone was on video beating someone and everyone ignores it, but then fires you because people who don't like you claim you said they interpreted your tone when saying words as mean, then that's targeted BS and very fair to call out that hypocrisy while maintaining your innocence.
After months thought I will check in on how Bungie and Destiny are doing, and, it didn't just not get better, it keeps digging it's own grave deeper and deeper. What a huge shame that such a great game underneath with such a talented team is being distorted, abused and driven into the ground by suits. Sony, please, just fire that whole C suite of degenerates or so many talented devs will drown in this cesspool. I can't believe none of these people have been fired still. Mindboggling! So sad...
I loved this game since Red War, have nearly 2,700hrs logged, and now can't bring myself to do anything more than check the Eververse store and play Helldivers 2 instead. I love the gunplay, the lore, and especially the music that brought this game to life. So sad what has happened since FS.
With an average daily player population of 19K, we are seeing the end of bungie. While most of the player base is primarily PVE focused, they're focus is on a highly competitive PvP game that is constantly behind the curve of games already released or trailers shown at the Gamers Awards.
You have to look at his statements Barrett made about Bungie from the legal perspective. He's not refuting anything because it doesn't win the case, he's trying to create a narrative that he was singled out and unlawfully terminated by showing that "everyone" was doing it but only he got punished, which fits unlawful termination. If he claims that he didn't do any of it, he has to prove that. It's easier to show that other people committed acts than to prove you didn't.
Anyone have their artifact reset as you’re starting the expert lost sector today? It happened in the normal one too. So overloads and other champions never get stunned and you can never get ahead.
Having worked in many big companies with assholes fighting over stock i’m confident that Barret is 100% right. Some exec saw the chance to fire him with cause to claw back some stock options which I’m sure got reallocated in some way among the remaining execs. Bungie isn’t rotten to the core, it’s just an animal with a parasite which can be healed. Sony should take Barret’s lawsuit, beat it, then investigate all his claims, and fire those people FOR CAUSE too. I bet that’ll make a big difference.
that first part… as I slowly begin really getting into the adult workforce, I realize that stuff like that is the norm. People are almost always high or drunk at work.
This all reflects the leadership. A good leader doesn't take resources from his bread and butter. A good leader listens to and observes his team. A good leader doesn't act selfishly. Joe Blackburn brought Destiny back from the cusp of death and breathed new life into it with Witch Queen (granted some of the seasons afterward were very questionable) but Parsons decisions with lightfall slowly started the spiral. I have a business with a number of employees as well and if Pete Parsons worked for me, he would have been fired a long time ago.
I invested so much energy in this game over the last 14 years. This is sad and disheartening. I left a year ago. I secretly hoped it would return to its glory one day. Just a reminder we are in the end times.
Not surprised. Game companies kinda naturally are ripe for bro culture. Then when we saw all those underhanded things Bungie did (xp throttling, not following through on promised fixes, straight up lying, etc etc)... when your outward facing product is that toxic, you know it's a symptom of something underneath the surface. Btw, someone at Sony should be fired for not doing due diligence before buying the company.
@ yes obviously speaking in hyperbole, I was more so just thinking about how stupid most of these complaints are Mooning a room full of nerds from a second story glass window is hilarious, these kids all want to change a company from the inside, and when they succeed their games generally don’t
5:24 I think it’s brilliant! He’s trying to create negotiating space knowing Bungie is not doing well on funding. Legal fees alone will hurt Bungie, but whatever they settle for will be a win-win for him. Unless Bungie has irrefutable evidence backing their claim, it will look bad for no matter what they settle on.
8:50 yeah i admit thats kind of a crap move from an outsiders perspective, but from a business standpoint its extremely smart. If the pay was truly an issue then the people had every right to refuse the position, so its not Bungies' fault that those people were incapable of refusing the job.
The older I get the more I believe most all people are/would be like this and its just a matter of having enough resources to where they feel comfortable enough to no longer give a fuck. Your much more accountable for your actions when your poor or middle class
I am a little fed up with the hole BUNGIE drama. When the most of the dev team got fired and so on not one CEO stood up and defent the lay offs. Now to the proper ceo got sacked o directors and we see law suit after law suit for there own intresst thats not moral etics from there part
I’m not saying Barrett should be falsely accused or falsely punished, but it’s interesting that, given his lobbying against LONO in false allegations, the term “what goes around, comes around” certainly applies.
So when do I get money for idk buying the game, and the first three DLCs that I paid for just to end up becoming free then removed from the game entirely
This wouldn’t be the first time Bungie have got rid of people to save money the bungie devs might be good people but the people making the big decisions are cut throat.
I hate the tribal loyalty to bungie, the devs and directors that made the games that got you on board have left or been layed off at this stage you're just supporting the corporate leaders who are squeezing this lemon for all the juice they can
No wonder destiny 2 is so riddled with bugs, errors, issues. So much is going on behind the scenes. They are losing player base due to lack of content.
I think that's exactly it they either need to focus on Destiny or sell it. The game can't only be good 3 months out of the year because an expansion released. They really need to get the seasonal model under control ive been sick of the holo projector since the haunted season. Use old seasonal activities for the holiday events. It can't be that hard to add headless majors to imaru engine or snowballs in the coil
I mean if it’s true that he did those things, all that they have to do is bring that evidence to court, along with those women to testify and he has no argument.
many industries hire "fans" that will work cheaper to be around what they love like skateboarding, motor sports and gaming isn't alone in this practice ...
Don’t forget Sony is now the parent company therefore they can fire executives too. This might not just be a bungie doesn’t want to pay it could also be Sony doesn’t want to pay either. Also depending on who all ends of involved in these allegations it could drag executives from Sony into it as well.
I feel that with all this drama they are losing too many players to recover. I myself have been a loyal fan since D1. Most of my clan mates have left as well that makes it difficult to hit that play button. I guess we'll see how this pans out when the dust has settled.
It all starts from the top - if the behavior is condoned and with impunity - it creates a toxic environment. Also general counsel usually acts in a consultative role - they would hire outside counsel do defend them in civil suits
I spend damn near a decade grinding my unwavering loyalty to bungie after every fail and victory Through the Latinx bs Through constantly ruining my favorite guns, class, super, and I doubled, tripled, quadrupled my wages to see a better bungie and ever since I left after I bought final shape Life couldn’t have been better. To see a company downfall before my very eyes is the greatest satisfaction I have ever been a pleasure to witness
Lets review both sides from a past to present perspective: Has Chris Barret had a past of inappropriate behavior? No. His release from Bungie is the first time we have heard of it. Has Bungie done some shady stuff to avoid paying people? Absolutely. Multiple lay-offs, cutting corners and general sketchiness for more than 10 years now.... Just sayin...
Part of the reason they laid people off was because Sony was offering services to bloated Bungie. Sure they got rid of that one lawyer but now they have Sony's lawyers.
What a mess. Was Witch Queen actually that good of an expansion, or were we so starved for something decent that it felt better than it was? Not a rhetorical question; I really can't decide. I think for me, in D2, Forsaken was the only GOOD expansion.
Bungie managed to scam Sony into buying a dying game with poor leadership running the franchise, buying Bungie is the gift that keeps on giving at this point.
Lawsuits are about leverage and always asking for more than what they're willing to give. You might think he haven't thought this one through but I can assure you it's the opposite. Bottom line is that if the guy worked hard for 25 years and was shafted from his retirement fund due to BS reasons, he better go to bat asking for more.

Their argument is "we fired him lawfully for cause. His reputation is bad now because he did bad things at work and created or contributed to a hostile work environment."
"cause to lawfull cause" another relier with word salad.
Blackburn was so close to getting his own car collection.
I remember everyone calling Marty a "creep" too, but it really just boils down to that company stock that was about to mature and hey all of a sudden this guy's an "issue" and gets fired and coincidentally they don't have to pay out that stock.
I hope Chris Barrett wins that lawsuit because the $200 million would bankrupt Bungie
I'm guessing a lot of that happens to be that O'Donnell's political opinions didn't aline.
He's more right leaning, and DMG is left leaning and I think he had tweeted something disparaging on that regard when O'Donnell was running for some state office where he lives.
I strongly believe Sony has buyers remorse at this point
Hold up, Liana Ruppert just pulled the biggest hipocrosy move ever. Didn't she also stand by and let it happen lmao and then go on to say those same people are "incredible humans" what even am I reading at this point. Mabye it's because her husband was the man mooning the entire studio. People love to tell on themselves 💜
Who coulda guessed that a huge studio with a “progressive facade” was filled with hypocrites and creeps?
Color me shocked 🫥
100 😂
🎯🎯
I remember after they left Activision, and Activision was having their own scandals, Bungie took shots on Twitter. They basically said they don't do those kind of things at Bungie. They respected the whamans Sure....
Bingo! Pack of woke weirdos.
Yep
D2 isn't dying. Bungie is dying.
I agree. It affects D2, but D2 certainly isn't dead.
Who cares the game boring now
thats what happens when you are one of the most woke companies in Washington. Go woke go broke they deserve it
as a woman who used to want to get into game development, i'd just like to say: women entering this industry has had catastrophic consequences on gaming. all their contributions have been 1) replacing quality writing with social commentary and dIvErSiTy, and 2) making allegations left right and center against devs who actually do worthwhile work. so fcking embarrassing and depressing. i miss the early Halo days so much.
Bungie is never gonna be the same as when they made Halo. Or even when they made Destiny 1 and 2. They're done being on top and Marathon will not change this
I’m never gonna play Marathon if it’s a rushed copy of Destiny.
The thing is
Dude has no dirt to spread. While the employees can spill all the tea on how creepy he is.
His case will get thrown out. Nothing to see here
yeah i'm guessing it is cause he wants his stock options.
@@DioStandProudeven though he didn’t do any of those things, Bungie upper management did, they deflected it onto him
Surprised this games online services is still running after that horrible Dawning event...
No love for pvp, no love from me.
Didn’t think I’d see a Moist Kackis video today
...wait a sec
Usually his kackis is rock hard maybe getting old
Na he take pills Fr
It’s all he’s got once this game dies his channel is gone
Yeah it’s crazy how someone who was complacent if not participating in the whole thing thinks they have any right to make such a huge hissy fit about the situation. He’s just as guilty as the people he’s accusing. I swear, some people will do anything to avoid admitting their own mistakes 🙄
He knows he can't get that. It's usually high because in the end he will try to end with a settlement and hopefully win a smaller sum and hoping an apology from Bunige but other than that not all.
Oh boy, time to hear more about why I quit Destiny.
I like the quitters cause they announce it AND stay stalking the destiny directories lmao
@galvatron2123 I like watching the company fall apart, I gave 10 years of my life to the game and franchise, Bungie continues to screw the pooch, watching their downfall from the sidelines will be very fun. In the meantime I'm gonna go play with my Nerf LMTD Ace of Spades.
@@galvatron2123the quitters want to hear validation about how terrible the game is right now. These kinds of videos make them feel they made the right decision to uninstall because it’s so awful.
@ that’s the thing lol. They watch this and feel great because they “uninstalled”. Nahhh these people will never DELETE their characters to truly QUIT 🤣🤣🤣. When they do that I’ll give them validation ☝️🤓
@@dirk1827I will say as a person who quit years ago and never have even an inkling of wanting to come back I watch these videos just to laugh. Just me personally I don’t need justification for me quitting especially when I was validated years ago.
I think I moreso like hearing the drama and then watching from the outside how you fans cope with it. Kind of like a science experiment of how much can a company fuck up and retain its fanbase
Honestly bungie better support D2 more and/or just come out and make D3 because nobody really gives a shit about marathon, like at all
Marathon will be as fun as actually running a marathon
Indeed, it will flop
I wonder what they will do if they release Marathon and it's a complete flop. What would that realignment or shakeup look like?
@@natevelarThere'd be no more Bungie. It'd look like bankruptcy.
suing for more than theyre worth. then expecting them to hire you back is crazy. hes using bungie logic.
Dude seeing how the destiny community reacts to what happened to this guy. I’m glad the community is going down the drain. I hope that he gets his 200 million from these jackasses. I’m glad bungie is getting what they deserve. But of course someone who streams RUclips content for destiny is going to defend the company.
I did not and the "community" tried to put false allegations on me 😂
Hey kackis I used to watch you back in the destiny 1 days even though I don’t play anymore it’s cool to see you’re still at it
I can’t care less what happens in the bungoo offices. They lost me when they over complicated resources. The ole you have to get so many of these to turn to these so then you can make that to turn in this person is just crazy. Destiny can burn for only listening to hardcore players.
AGREED!
Oh fuck your right. U know at first I wanted new mission like the whisper. But I wasn't able to figure that out alone I couldn't even get out the first room. It's a fucking conspiracy
Accurate description of Bungie leadership
I haven’t played destiny in a few years, just wanted to hear your intro again “ it’s ya boy Rick kackis!”!! Soooo have you heard of WARFRAME?
A higher up trampling on others and treating hard working artists like subhuman play toys while impacting the creations and profitability of the art the artists are making🙀god the problem is always the same people. Get rid of the rich assholes ruining art at every studio
Hey Liana, I don't recall hearing about this while it was happening. No police reports for obviously illegal behavior?
That’s what I was saying!!
you wouldn't file a police report unless you have a crime. you'd go to HR.
Almost like she’s lying
wait you're not Charles
i have been wanting to play but i got banned and i don't even know why, last played aug 9th then took a break. late oct i tried to play the halloween event but turns out i was banned. i checked email and there was nothing there, opened a ticket to never be answered. years of playing all for nothing :(
It’s crazy how women can make false allegations & nothing ever happens to them…. & what group of CEOs aren’t racist and sexist? Let’s be honest
😩 I’ll wait to see how it plays out
As far as i recall he released a statement back when this originally happened apologizing for his actions, doesnt really scream "innocent" to me.
So youre saying the execs are terrible humans, will face no repercussions because they're rich AF, and probably did it but also the women who make complaints, which are based on reality way more than not, should be held to a different standard? Yeah, that actually is crazy 🙄😂 It's basically a 90s dweeb frat house at all of these companies with butts exposed all over the place and jokes these incel dorks wouldn't ever make if they werent in majority like minded company but totally, let's keep criticizing the victims. Our society is totally cooked
@@josephcool981 aye he didn’t deny it, so the allegations may be true. If so hold them all accountable. Not just 1 person
That’s the toxic MeToo culture for you
It'd be whataboutism if he admitted to doing what he was accused of and tried to deflect, but he denies it, so it's not whataboutism.
The sooner the execs 13:22 leave bungie, the better. They're a fucking disgrace.
Time for Sony to step in and make some big changes.
This is why fans are idiots....never work for free people...make your money regardless
6:06 directors can fire people, and depending on how he chooses to be payed(most likely in bungie stocks) he would basically own and control marathon
So sad...
This bungie situation is absolutely Massive . It sucks that the player base is so Low. I don’t think the problems are going to Fade
And ironically enough Rupert’s comments gives credibility to that claim that it was a major cultural thing at Bungie, at least for the execs
Anyone have their artifact reset as you’re starting the expert lost sector today? It happened in the normal one too. So overloads and other champions never get stunned and you can never get ahead.
Bungie having halo, moving to a holy grail of a new IP, just fall from grace is diabolical
Seems like he is trying to make a power move. Probably asking for more so he can settle for either his job or the money.
They never took him to court... that means he was unfairly fired early.
Bro literally said “you guys wanna play dirty eh?”😂
Dirty clickbait
I invested so much energy in this game over the last 14 years. This is sad and disheartening. I left a year ago. I secretly hoped it would return to its glory one day. Just a reminder we are in the end times.
Not surprised. Game companies kinda naturally are ripe for bro culture.
Then when we saw all those underhanded things Bungie did (xp throttling, not following through on promised fixes, straight up lying, etc etc)... when your outward facing product is that toxic, you know it's a symptom of something underneath the surface.
Btw, someone at Sony should be fired for not doing due diligence before buying the company.
Sounds like a lot of accusations from the same types of whiney babies destroying much of the gaming industry these days! Miss your voice Rick!
No one is “destroying the gaming industry”
I’m guessing your one of those “western games bad” “pronouns in games bad” anti woke crybabies
@@Lady_Amelia-Eloise He shouldn't "do internets" cause he's promoting this kind of behavior against his the women in his own family.

Mooning a room full of nerds from a second story glass window is hilarious, these kids all want to change a company from the inside, and when they succeed their games generally don’t
What is up guys, MOIST KACKIS HERE
5:24 I think it’s brilliant! He’s trying to create negotiating space knowing Bungie is not doing well on funding.
Legal fees alone will hurt Bungie, but whatever they settle for will be a win-win for him. Unless Bungie has irrefutable evidence backing their claim, it will look bad for no matter what they settle on.
The situation situation is also insane.
8:50 yeah i admit thats kind of a crap move from an outsiders perspective, but from a business standpoint its extremely smart. If the pay was truly an issue then the people had every right to refuse the position, so its not Bungies' fault that those people were incapable of refusing the job.
That iron banner joke was top tier😂
The allegations LONO were true though

So when do I get money for idk buying the game, and the first three DLCs that I paid for just to end up becoming free then removed from the game entirely
this is another reason i have had a hard time to even bring myself to play this episodes after the beginning thing
Agreed with everything you said in your video- like you pulled the thoughts out of my head.
This wouldn’t be the first time Bungie have got rid of people to save money the bungie devs might be good people but the people making the big decisions are cut throat.
I absolutely loved the destiny 2 game as a whole,
Up until pantheon, then after pantheon It just felt like something major was missing.
I hate the tribal loyalty to bungie, the devs and directors that made the games that got you on board have left or been layed off at this stage you're just supporting the corporate leaders who are squeezing this lemon for all the juice they can
Unrelated but, what is that void grenade launcher he’s using at the beginning? lol
Looks like it’s from vespers host
and was that QuickSilver autorifle??
Hoping the dude wins the lawsuit against Bungle they deserve to lose.
No wonder destiny 2 is so riddled with bugs, errors, issues. So much is going on behind the scenes. They are losing player base due to lack of content.
Said it months back and ill say it again. Sony needs to finish cleaning house in irder for this game to move foward.
At this point, Sony needs to completely fire the entire executive team and hire people who know how to run a game development company.
Will this crisis be another zenkai boost for bungie or will bungie keel over and die this time?
Nope. Pete is going to double down on harming this game just to get another car.
Went from beta testing destiny d1 and dumping 3k hours into it, just to walk away and never look back.
Not all heros wear capes
Don’t forget Sony is now the parent company therefore they can fire executives too. This might not just be a bungie doesn’t want to pay it could also be Sony doesn’t want to pay either. Also depending on who all ends of involved in these allegations it could drag executives from Sony into it as well.
Let me just say the one former Bungie guy wasnt wrong about HRC, know her, worked for, and with her, he's right.
I spend damn near a decade grinding my unwavering loyalty to bungie after every fail and victory
Through the Latinx bs
Through constantly ruining my favorite guns, class, super, and I doubled, tripled, quadrupled my wages to see a better bungie and ever since I left after I bought final shape
Life couldn’t have been better.
He says in the tweets that he was reporting them? Did no one read that?
Part of the reason they laid people off was because Sony was offering services to bloated Bungie. Sure they got rid of that one lawyer but now they have Sony's lawyers.
What a mess.
Was Witch Queen actually that good of an expansion, or were we so starved for something decent that it felt better than it was? Not a rhetorical question; I really can't decide. I think for me, in D2, Forsaken was the only GOOD expansion.
god damn it Duck man... now I see the situation situation everywhere....
9:18 Bethesda did that with the creation club for the fallout mods
Bungie managed to scam Sony into buying a dying game with poor leadership running the franchise, buying Bungie is the gift that keeps on giving at this point.
Wrath of the machine joke went hard lol
Final shape was good but sold less than lightfall if it doesn’t sell and make money it doesn’t matter how good it is
Using a Run Escape player for the preview card, makes One Eyed great again.
