Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you create this stunningly beautiful and uniquely gorgeous artwork. You are so talented and creative too and I’m so pleased I can watch you create something so amazing and special too. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤
I purposely didn't blink thru your whole presentation......and its like watching a flower open in time lapse, what wasn't there suddenly appeared...like magic...... Awesome sauce! Can't wait to get my eyes back! Thank you!
Limited palettes are so much easier for me and way less stressful than having to choose amongst 30 other colors. Thank you! I love these mixing videos so much! The painting is beautiful as always Steve!
I can’t get enough of these spontaneous vignette pieces ~ thanks so much! They’ve helped me be more relaxed and encourage me to just, “go with the flow,” to the betterment of my outcomes, I think.
Having taken your spontaneous watercolor course with etchr labs, I am always in awe of your spontaneous work! Another fantastic painting. I love to try these, they are slowly getting better and better. Not quite this quality yet, but I keep giving it another go. I love using a limited palette. Thanks for sharing this one!
Thank you for sharing your insights and talent. That was a green I rarely use, it ends up tossed in the 'junk' pile. But now I'll dig it out and really have some fun with it. Thinking it might become a new favorite....just beautiful!
Beautiful and lovely shades of dusty greens! I think the ghostly trees in the background and the bits of dark clouds floating in the sky looks as if rain or storm clouds just passed over. I hope you and your family have a great week!
That was a delightful demonstration! A coherent color scheme, defined edges and creative lifting- looking forward incorporating these three things into a painting. Thanks!
Thanks so much as always for your information and inspiration Steve! I am late to the party for World Watercolor Month, but will try to do as much catchup as I can... oh and of course, got me some swag from their web shop. Your art always amazes me...
once again, a beautiful painting appears out of runs and dribbles. this week my challenge , with your set, was blueberries. who would have thought blueberry color would be so difficult to mix, after several hours it worked -Indian yellow was the secret ingredient. next week, it will be greens. thanks again for your videos
This is so beautiful! I have NO artistic talent whatsoever, lol. but I appreciate those who do...I have a cheap set of watercolors and brushes--I am just gonna give it a try. Thank you, Sir, for the inspiring video!
I purchased your set in anticipation of foot surgery. If you Ever come to washington, I’ve got cormo fleeces for your wife to play with while you paint. great outdoor painting on my northwest farm
I just thought of a way to remember analogous and complimentary colors definitions. Use the second letter in each word: aNalogous = Next to and cOmplimentary = Opposite from
Hello again! Would you be able to do a tutorial on developing various successful triad combos for different types of watercolor paintings pls. For flowers, landscapes, Whatever in your expertise painting skills. It would mean so much to me as I have learned so much from one of my favorite artists.💙❤💚🧡💛💜
Just keep watching and note the colors I use in various situations then experiment with your own. There is so much flexibility and personal preference in color choice. I don't have a set strategy for choosing a color scheme nor do I think that one group of colors would be best for any given genre like landscape. It can be traditional or quite experimental. Here is a good example. ruclips.net/video/Svhn3vnaYno/видео.html
I am amazed at how you generate an image from your mind. I need something to look to paint. I've always thought that this is a shortcoming of mine that means I am not truly creative or an artist. Could getting over myself and doing more spontaneous work lead to satisfying results? Btw, this sketchbook painting is quite beautiful.
Yes. You can do it! It takes some sketching practice from images you look at to begin with and you should continue to do that sort of painting anyway. Or from life on location, etc. So you're on the the right track. You have to fill up your visual database (brain) so to speak.
I would agree with Steve. I am not a even a good beginning artist, but I began my career in a different field a very long time ago, and I practiced, practiced, practiced. I worked with a lot of examples provided by others, and over time, with a lot of patience, loads of mistakes, and try, try, try again, I became pretty good in my work. This is very similar to what Steve is saying. Repetition, practice, experience will flow into your brain and transform you.
I think i need these colors! Are your picks all transparent? Any granulating? And why oh why is it always ultramarine that is in every single set in the world? Is it that necessary really? Cuz i love prussian blue and cerulean....am i missing something? What is the ultramarine thing i dont know? And also....i love the butcher tray palette! Looks like a dissecting tray to me tho cuz of my sciencey background. Science has a need for observational drawing too and its funny how often those two things coincide. Almost as often as genius and madness.....hee....sooooo.....talkin skull not withstanding....thankyou for your watercolor genius! 😉👍❤
Ultramarine is definitely not essential but yes, common place. I suppose because its a decent, economical, middle blue pigment, only slightly warm leaning. Cobalt Blue is a good sub but not as deep. Ultramarine in this case is the main granulating color. Red iron oxide is also to a degree.
@@mindofwatercolor thanks i just thought maybe there was some reason that everyone knew but me. I love so many blues and just kinda get thinking why this particular one is so often the one....and in my lesser grade paints maybe the magic is not included. I do now have five sennelier tubes in the sampler set and thats my first professional grade paint to play with....i mixed some lovely tones with the yep you guessed it ultramarine they included, but i would have preferred one of my other favorite blues i think. Maybe it isnt the hue itself but what you can mix with it that makes it the staple?
Last night I asked about a neat oriental style brush you were using but didn't know which video ii was from. It was in this one (a study in greens) and it was Lebanzon (???) goat hair. Can you tell me the length of the goat hair 1", 11/2 or more and did you have a Wangi handle. Looked kinda cool to me !!! Yes, I love good brushes. Thanks, Steve, for your help!
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you create this stunningly beautiful and uniquely gorgeous artwork. You are so talented and creative too and I’m so pleased I can watch you create something so amazing and special too. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤

Agree on the less stressful aspect. Kind of liberating in fact.

At first I thought you were going to add a cascading water fall. Lovely as always.
Another magical spontaneous painting. It always makes me want to do one - never fails. That’s my plan for tomorrow, thanks Steve.

Fantastic eye Steve , beautiful scene indeed !
I am enjoying these videos so much thank you. Take care
You're a Master. Thank you for sharing your knowlege
You make this look so easy. I could watch you do these spontaneous paintings all day long. Does high pigmented paints make it easier?
Not really easier but it gives you more tinting strength in pale washes.
Weird but I find I do better spontaneous painting when I join in along with you and listen to your instructions. 💞💞💞 love your paintings
Love this
I love spontaneous watercolor paintings. I didn't realize July is watercolor month - hooray!
love it

@@mindofwatercolor please pass it along. ❤
Great painting and video! How long does a painting like this take you overall?
45-60 minutes roughly.

And love your spontaneous paintings! What about your thoughts on a 3 or 4 color combo suggestions regarding my below comment? Thank so much Steve 👍❤
Hey Steve, how you been? Happy World Watercolor Month. Are you doing the prompts?
I am not. I would love to, but just don't have the time to follow them all. I might get to do one.
Which brush are you using in this video?
Check the video description.
