So many new good-looking beat'em ups, yet barely no one puts the same effort, thought and care as the developers of Streets of Rage 4 and TMNT Shredder's Revenge did. It's as if all the effort goes to the graphics/pixel art during gameplay, and that's it. This is really frustrating.
Go play Fight'n Rage. Beats every other beat em up out there for me. Shredder's Revenge was waaay too easy. SoR4 was solid, and the roguelike mode was a good addition, but doesn't really hit the perfection of Fight'n Rage's enemy placement, branching paths, and tight combos.
Because both Sor4 and TMNT Shredder's Revenge, they are the jack of all trades there, almost impossible to reply, clones will always fail on that though, but thry can at least learn how to make a beat'em up enjoyable and thrilling at least if they would not think too much on money and focus more on treating the franchise with passion yet care imho.

@@beatemup it’s okay buddy, I can wait since I had no intention of buying this. I do like the addition of extra modes, too bad it wasn’t for a better game like Jitsu Squad for example.
Aside from the graphics which is fair, the gameplay as well as the level design they look clunky, the AI is non existant and the enemies they lack of variety at all. A fan could even pass over it, but the player within it won't imho. Thank you for the warning Sav I'll keep it away like a plague. Shameful TMNT broken clone, my wallet is extremely grateful to you though my man.
Yeah… unfortunately this is exactly what I expected. I was hoping for better, but idk I just wish I knew what was up. Have they never 1cc’d a beat em up before, are they genuinely just coding amateurs, did they have no budget or time? I just don’t get it what combination of circumstances led to this being the way it is. For all I know, all three things could be true.
So far from what i have seen, the game might have G.I. Joe character sprites but it doesn't feel like like G.I. Joe from the 80s, they failed to capture the essence of it, the music doesn't feel like cartoon series, the intro alone is a big wtf? The gameplay is weak, to be honest it almost feels like the devs took a generic beat em up they where working on and turned the sprites it in to gi joe after they got the license.
Need to get shredders revenge devs to make all these games or at least have the actual devs play shredders revenge and SOR4 to figure out how to make a great game. It looks like ab openbor game.
OpenBOR can be amazing. The SORR is incredible, Night SlasherZ just awesome... Double Dragon Ultimate is rough but a ton of fun. Definitely lots of amateur projects, but some feel as good as the greats.
Thanks for the PSA. Sounds like something really dumb went down and now everyone loses. Especially those of us (like me) who grew up loving G.I. Joe. Hopefully the new thing that you mentioned saves the situation.
After the video on Karate Kid (decent-ish but WAY too expensive) and Night Slashers (good price and decent game but way too buggy), this really feels like the finishing punch of a typical 1-2-3 beat-em-up combo. Way too many bugs, way too few combos, clone hordes and no variety... I didn't play with GI Joe as a kid (wasn't in Europe from what I remember), TMNT was my childhood show, but even so beat-em-ups were a strong part of my childhood and seeing them flounder with all these modern game-industry ills like buggy launches... feels real bad, man. Here's to hoping Power Rangers maintains quality, at least.
I appreciate you being honest while being involved in it.. smh These are the lazy cash grabs that ruined beat em ups while things were becoming 3d. Its a genre I will always like to see stick around. A friend and I just played Punisher the other day and had a great time. I know thats capcom.. but their game from 1993 is running smoother than what I just saw on this vid. Poor G.I joe lol.
My obligation is with you guys so, no matter the game or my involvement on it, I will always make an honest review, putting myself in the consumers shoes first, because I am also one.
Hello Ricardo! I've been wanting to ask you for a long time. Have you heard about the modern 3D Beat’Em Up project, named Risk One’s Neck? Have you talked to its developer? I'd really like to know, why such a great project stalled. I once wrote to its developer on Facebook, he replied that the game would be released in 2020. However, there's still nothing. Too bad. Judging by the two trailers here and one gameplay video, the project combines classic arcade gameplay, from 1980s, 1990s and modern 3D technologies.
@@beatemup Exactly. I don't know why the developer decided to give up, I think there was already quite a lot of good work done there. Someone wrote in a Facebook's Beat'Em Up group, that this project had poor promotion. Maybe, although that was not a reason to close the project. I would definitely really like such a game, it's like a revived Beat'Em Up, from childhood, but only with cool modern technologies. I think there would be hundreds of thousands of people like me.
I have to agree, most levels are boring because it's the same enemies over and over and the boss fights are way too easy. I hope they update the game with more cool stuff, otherwise it's a waste.
