Dang, $40 with only 4 playable characters and no playable Johnny Lawrence? That’s a tough sell. Some people thought RCG2 was asking too much with its $40 price and that game is fully voiced with a lengthy story, several side quests, 6 playable characters, music with lyrics, and online co-op with crossplay.
That's a game that is worth the 40 bucks asked. This is one is the classic Game Mill tactics of trying to get the most profits from initial sales and then sell it with 90% off.
@@beatemup If that is the case most people will likely wait until it's on discount. I'm a strong believer in paying only for what i get. A game like this i typically only pay $10-$15 for (maybe $20-$25 if it's got enough extras but never more then $30)
Well, it's probably due of the fact that, this sequel, it is being focused on the Miyagi dojo faction charas ones mainly. As the game does not allow any member of the Cobrai Kai dojo to be played at all, Ikr it's a shame but this is as far as we got with this title for the time being. Do I smell upcoming dlcs in the air?🧐
so kinda of a mixed bag, then. Giving Bosses armor all the time is one of the most frustrating mechanics in beat em ups, alongside too many projectile based goons (I hate them too). Yeah... this game have some cool ideas, but it falls short in a lot of key points. For 10 bucks (like, 20 reais) I can recommend this one, but at the full price??? No way!!!
I was born in 84 and every grown up I knew ALL called me Daniel-san because of the first movie and before I watched the first movie I never knew why lol...
I was expecting your excellent review Capt. Sav! This game it feels and shouts the early '80s anywhere there, as it is the final shodown between the Miyagi dojo and the Cobra Kai one imho. I personally consider it a slow paced but technical version of TMNT Shredder's Revenge, although the turtles game it is still far better than that on any level regardless imho. Also 40€ for a beat'em up game without even an online co-op feature it is rather a prank, so I'll be waiting for a price drops, at least of 30% as gamemill they will do it in a couple of weeks, since their last installment was a completely disaster though, thanks for the perfect review brother! Now, I am looking forward to the G.I. Joe: revenge of Cobra one!🤙🏻
Agreed, it's time for them to cut down their ambitions a bit, if the results are being like that. Overworking a brand or a tie-in game, when is not even up to the overall expectation, such overconfidence is their worst enemy imho.🤦🏻♂️
LOL, a mosquito playing a kazoo like a boss! I'm stealing that!! I am super confused why they are charging $40 for this when almost anything else in the genre is charging significantly less regardless of perceived quality. My guess is they were hoping the IP would catch $40 USD (what it costs here) for early adopters and then they could 50% discount it soon and still get $20 USD since a lot of people buy based on % off rather than actual price.
hahahaha the worst part is enjoying it after a while!! It really grew on me! Game Mill always act like that. They put the price up high to get the nostalgics or the hyped, and try to profit a lot at launch ( I wouldn't doubt this is some investor thing). In a few months you can find this game for 50% off or more. I mean, the first Cobra Kai game, also published by them, was 99 cents six months after launch.

Great review. Seems my suspicions were confirmed. That lack of any real impact is a real letdown for me. Why developers keep making such an obvious mistake is beyond me. I would say don't get your hopes up with regards to G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra. I tried the demo a few months ago. Combat felt lifeless and the AI was brain-dead. Tried the demo again today. They added an extra character and my opinion hasn't changed one bit.

It’s such a missed opportunity to not go the cobra kai way with this. SO many great hero characters and villains in that series. Limiting only to karate kid with 4 characters was a mistake. Also considering how popular cobra kai has become. But I’m guessing they are saving all that for the sequel, which would make sense
I don't know. They already released two Cobra Kai games. I am don't think they will release another one... well, maybe to celebrate the ending of the series?? Who knows... now I am intrigued.

Appreciate the review! That's such a steep price for something to feel so un-impactful. I agree with the cutscenes...it's a shame. They look like a NewGrounds animation, which I love, but it looks dated and out of place here. Especially with the great pixel art!

Its not worth anyones time even for $1 imo. I beat the game once on hard. No desire to play again. They simply didn't finish the game, some basic unity input lag issues, lazy enemy and boss designs in terms of AI. Just trying to cash in on the 80's nostalgia beat em ups without knowing anything about beat em up game design.
Seems okay, but definitely way overpriced for what it is. And the cutscenes really do look very bad. The art in them is trash as well. I suppose it's decent for fans, but there's far better alternatives for people looking for a good beat 'm up. Also we all know you picked Kumiko because she shows some sexy leg.
It's a real shame because the pixel art is pretty damn good. I suspect the use of generative ai in the cutscenes that were then painted over a bit, they are THAT bad 😂
