The price of honor. The power of friendship. THE KARATE KID, Part II. Ralph Macchio and Noriyuki "Pat" Morita re-create the roles that brought them international acclaim in The Karate Kid. Karate student, Daniel Larusso (Macchio), accompanies his wise and whimsical teacher, Mr. Miyagi (Morita), to his ancestral home in Okinawa. For the boy, it's a journey to an exotic new world offering new clues to his mentor's secret past. For Miyagi, it's an opportunity to see his father one last time and tore kindle a romance with his childhood sweetheart (Nobu McCarthy). But Miyagi's return also re-ignites a bitter feud with long-time enemy, Sato (Danny Kamekona) - a feud that involves young Daniel in a brilliant collision of cultures and combat. Now, far away from the tournaments, the cheering crowds and the safety of home, Daniel will face his greatest challenge ever when teacher becomes student and the price of honor is life itself. Кино
Can you imagine the call to Daniel's mom if Chozen had won? "Mrs. LaRusso, Miyagi here. Weather nice today here in Okinawa. I regret to inform you that Daniel-San is dead."
Lol best comment ever
"On positive note, no longer have to worry about paying for college tuition"
Everyone talks a lot of shit online until they get old enough and face the consequences of being a douchebag... You're not special. I see thousands if not millions of idiots like you so far who never learned their lesson.
lol
"Daniel-Son, this Not tournament ... This for Real. So if you need to pick up a brick or statute or something to throw at his head, you Do it!!" 😂🤣

Yea just like in Friday lol😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤😎😎😎😎
Unironically Bruce Lee would say use a gun in this situation
i love how every ending, miyagi looks on daniel san like a proud father to his kid.
👍👍😑🥰🥰
It's kind of lot like how Abraham Lincoln and Chubbs smile down on Happy Gilmore from heaven.
❤
Me too
Daniel was a kid without a father figure in his life anymore, and Miyagi never got a chance to fulfill fatherhood because of his wife dying in childbirth in the internment camps. They needed one another in that sense, so I've always assumed that was a fitting and intentional end to the original films.
"No more tournaments, no more referees, no more cheering crowds, But this time, the combat is real!"
i agree no rules fight so there alot of moves that are very effective that aren't even allowed in a ufc fight
True! And watching this trailer again with that quote, adding it to some things from Cobra Kai Season 1 and 2, i can imagine we gonna see this again in the final Season. Most fans think Johnnys son Robby will win the Sekai Tournament, but since he was to this day Daniel's only male 1-1 student, i wouldnt be surprised if he ends like Daniel here in 1985 against Chozen. This is what missing in the CK show since it started, a no rule life and death duel among the teenys. And if it should happen, my money is Robby will be involved in it.
And the writers saved the drum. The real drum technique with these devastating palm strikes wasnt seen in the CK show yet...i would be surprised if it doesnt show up in Season 6.
Another why this should be the third not second
At the high school & larusso home Both Miguel & Sam had their fighting with their karate cousins Tory & Robby.

36 years later both of them sing Eye of the Tiger with Johnny in a limo driven by Mike Barnes
And get drunk and all randomly decide to invade Terry silvers house to conduct a gang assault on him with ninja weapons, only for silvers armed and trained ninja army to take them on in defense
haha yup unreal right ? 😂
Yes I loved how they all became good friends
Fun Fact: Its funny that Johnny Chozen and Mike Barnes Are teaming up because 3 of them were the main villian
That’s a bucketlist ticked off
You can really feel the difference between the final fight in the first movie and this one. In the first movie Johnny is just trying to win and prove a point to Daniel but in this movie Chozen is out for blood. The tone shift is awesome and it adds more tension.
One of the reasons this is the only time I can think of where the sequel outdoes the original
@@Cavillier1970 For real.
It really manages to raise the stakes. There is no time-outs, no referee, no rules. Chozen wants to kill him and Daniel has to defend himself or die. Few sequels can pull that off.
This not tournament. THIS FOR REAL.
@@FictionRaider007who do you think would’ve won between Johnny vs Chozen in an actual street fight?
"Live or die, man" is probably still my favorite Daniel line
lol he kinda sounded like mike barnes
Wow Chozen isn’t afraid to die
I miss when movies were happy. with only slight hints at pagan worship
You forgot the most important part! You forgot the “honk”. Lol!
Mine right now is "your out of your fucking minds"
In hindsight, sparing Chozen was the BEST decision Daniel-san has ever made.
@ferrellkang4954 That's true since Chozen has become Daniel's friend and the new Mr. Miyagi on "Cobra Kai."
You're not wrong!😉
@@PercivalFromWales Now that Chozen is Daniel's friend and the new Mr. Miyagi, I can only hope he doesn't move back to Okinawa feeling there's nothing left for him there now that his uncle Sato has passed away. If he moves to California, Daniel could offer him a car on a discount with Daniel being the owner of his business and maybe he could help Chozen start his own business as a karate teacher. The same for Kumiko that now that her aunt Yukie has passed away, I can only hope she moves to California and Daniel does the same for as he does for Chozen except he can help her start her business as a dance teacher since she loves being a dancer. (This scene here makes me happy that Daniel didn't kill Chozen and it was lucky he saw Mr. Miyagi refuse to kill John Kreese which gave Daniel the same idea).
Yes, not murdering Chozen was a good idea. Daniel-san might still be in Okinawan prison.
@@williamshelton4318 It's good in some ways that Daniel saw Mr. Miyagi refuse to murder John Kreese by honking his nose for him to pass out which is why he got that idea to honk Chozen's nose not to murder him (being unknown if Daniel was strong enough like Chozen to murder Chozen himself). Regarding Daniel being sent to prison in Okinawa, that would still be unknown because there were over 100 witnesses (including Mr. Miyagi) around that castle area who saw that Chozen made that choice to make Daniel get rid of the bridge to start a death match against Daniel where after Daniel said "now I dropped the bridge let her go" where Chozen said "now we fight to the death" where Daniel had no choice but to defend himself and he if had to murder Chozen, that would have been his only defense where if a police officer came and said "Daniel Larusso, you're under arrest for murder", the crowd would have stepped in and said that it wasn't his fault, he was only defending himself from Chozen who was going to murder him.
Never realized how good of a fight scene this is. For most of it, no music or cheesiness. Really does a good job showing the contrast between this and the first movie with the tournament ending.
🎶🎵🎶🎶🎵
As i read your comment lol
@@JB-yr4vd🥁🥁🥁🥁
Exclude daniels weird noises and that honk yeah it was good fight
It played no music to show that the moment is low and that Daniel is losing but when he starts to win the music starts to play to show that he has the advantage
It’s still pretty cheesy. You can tell it’s choreographed and at no point do I feel like either of the characters are trying to hit each other, much less hurt each other. Like, what the hell is this punch he threw at Daniel?
5:04
Thank god choreography has come a long way. As a kid, this was awesome, though.
It really emphasises the power of chozen, that the crane kick which was such a powerful and significant move in the first one, is just so easily countered and stopped. It is also in the middle of the fight and not just as a finisher
Well to be fair chozen knew all about the techniques but if you watch closely you can see chozen do a little faint to see what would Daniel do and he countered the kick
Because everyone knows Danny uses that move by now
@@shinyhntr4878nah chosen already know about that technique
Chozen saw the first movie 🎬
Nah,in reality, the reason of why the Crane worked with Johnny but not Chozen isn't because of power but because Johnny was like WTF is this worm doing? when Daniel used it. Because Chozen knew almost the entire moveset, not just the Crane,he can countered.
Daniel, Chozen and Kumiko reunited 34 years later. Daniel and Chozen joined forces against Cobra Kai.

Miyagi taught Daniel the Drum Technique, Sato didn't teach Chozen that technique. When Miyagi pulls out the drum , Sato knows Chozen is at a disadvantage and pulls his drum out as well. It was the only way for Daniel to defeat Chozen . Brutal, poetic and well executed scene!
LOL 5:16 Chozen was like "Nah, I saw Karate Kid part 1" :)
Remember, that kick is supposed to be able to break through almost every blocking defense... And bro just catches it! 💀
@@lightningjadejavier it was Miyagi-do style...I'm sure they taught the defense for it within their martial art. That's what Chozen was trained in as well.
Wife: how did you get that jar open?
Me: Drum technique.
LOL 😂 Oh don't worry I opened it in the back yard and I'll be cleaning up the messed later LOL 😂 here a bunch of broken pickles for you.
I’m glad that in Cobra Kai, most of Daniel’s enemies put aside their beef towards him. Johnny took a little bit to chill out, but it was satisfying seeing Chozen and Barnes put aside the past start to make new connections.
Wherever Mr Miyagi is we know he’s insanely proud of Daniel for putting aside his differences with all 3 of his former rivals and even work with the 3 to take down Silver, can’t wait for Mike to learn more of MiyagiDo in season 6
I like that each handled it differently too. Johnny was bitter, felt like he was the one wronged, and needed seasons-worth of character development to put it aside and move forward. Meanwhile, Chozen is grateful to Daniel and actively wants to meet up to atone. And Mike Barnes feels guilty but thinks it's best to give Daniel space so they can both live their lives.
I think Johnny was personal out of the three. The other two were just guys looking for just competition where Johnny, he lost his girlfriend and the competition to Daniel. I can see where Johnny is coming from.
And even with Johnny, he said at the end of the first movie to Daniel, "You're alright, Larusso!" So Johnny always was redeemable; he just needed a little boost. Could you imagine though if we got to see Daniel, Johnny, Chozen, Mike, and a returning Julie team up to take down Kreese and Silver? Those two wouldn't know what him them.
The lack of music almost during the entire fighting sequence made to feel it more brutal than already is. In retrospective, you could say that Chozen is the most dangerous of all the opponents Daniel had to face by a big gap, not only because of his fighting skills but because he was determined to finish Daniel.
You can tell that the writers of Cobra Kai love him and that they wanted to redeem the character. I dont know about it honestly, i mean i really like Chozen in Cobra Kai but, for me, it is hard to conciliate the character from the movie with the character from the series. He seemed like a psycho. The fact that he wanted to kill Daniel for real and also that he held a knife to kumiko´s throath is hard to overlook. What Jhonny and Mike Barnes did was child play in comparisson.
I mean Johnny damn near killed Daniel by pushing him off that hill and Barnes almost left him to die but I get what you’re saying
The more I’m watching Cobra Kai, the more I enjoy watching Chozen in Season 5. I don’t know if anyone else can see it but Chozen has become the next coming of Mr. Miyagi.
Very well done choreography. This really feels like a fight to the death, not an endless elaborate choreographed dance.
Cobra Kai confirmed that Chozen was redeemed after the events of this incident and Yuna at 1:06 would later save LaRusso Auto. Then Chozen told Johnny about this fight in season 5 while he was with him and then later on Chozen admits to having feelings for Kumiko which was a shocker.
And Daniel is more scared in a tournament match with Mike Barnes after this. Primary reason karate kid 3 failed.
I was thinking the same thing. Like really dude??? You just fought to the death and won. But you’re scared of this???
Dude won and survived a fight to the death against the no. 1 student of Okinawa, but is so scared to fight a white kid from the US. LOL
@@SansoHumar And he could break all 6 ice without any trouble, but has trouble breaking a wooden Dummy in the 3rd one 💀
To be honest if the plot in part 3 was switched in part 2 while part 2 plot was switched as the final installment of the trilogy it would've been good
Because Silver played with his head
chozen really waited years for that revenge
Now he is Daniel’s best friend
First Daniel honks Chozen nose then Chozen dose similar to Daniel.
This film still makes me feel... Decades later...
5:11 - 5:14 -- Daniel takes "crane" pose. Miyagi looks at him like "Why?"
He knew that Kove was meant to be done when the opponent is too enraged and doesn't think about defense in combat but only attack. That's why. Chozen was someone not fully raged.
Not only that, but after watching this now, I know why it failed. Chozen knew there was no good defense for it so he faked an advance to get Daniel to telegraph it.
@@aradhyasakpal8083 It's true that you can see Chozen baiting Daniel into the kick so that Daniel kicks a bit too early, with Chozen feinting going in for a punch at 5:15. But I also think that Daniel got into the Crane Technique knowing that Chozen would likely know how to defend against it, but Daniel's plan was probably for the move after, hoping that Chozen's defense in reacting to the Crane Kick would possibly leave Chozen more exposed so that Daniel can deliver a counter blow as he does at 5:18.
The Drum technique has always been a personal favorite to me. I know it's not as iconic as the Crane Kick but from a tactical, last-ditch effort, blocking and countering at close quarters is more useful. The Kata would be my 2nd favorite.
The audience can see the entire crane technique. The drum thing is largely left to our imaginations.
Same here! I also get moved when everyone is playing the drums in support of Daniel and to tell him what technique to use!
The fact that the characters become hurt and tired raises this above the level of most Hollywood fight scenes.
That's what bugs me with Cobra Kai. Even the kids absorb a tremendous amount of punishment with little effect
Exactly! They only fight for about 3 minutes and only land so many hits on each other (as makes sense with 2 nearly matched opponents fighting with the same style) and yet they are totally busted up and exhausted by the end of it.
This is one of my favorite scenes of all time from a movie. Karate Kid defined my childhood. When Daniel says, "Live or die, man?" I always get chills. HONK!
What I like about part 2 above the other movies is the stakes were real and he wasn’t fighting for himself but for another.
"Wrong!"
*Honk*
I always loved that callback.
Nobody would’ve thought that 3 decades later Chozen would show LaRusso a different side to MiyagiDo he had never seen before, fly out to the United States to help LaRusso take down Cobra Kai, but also team up with 2 other of LaRusso’s rivals Johnny Lawrence and Mike Barnes to take down one of the evilest sensei’s anyone has ever met Terry Silver, Chozen out of any villain from a movie or tv show has had one of the best redemption arcs we’ve ever seen
Then 35 years later Daniel, chozen, Johnny, and mike all team up
Absolutely loved the end fight. Movie was about an 8 in my book, the end fight pushed it to a 9++
Why not make it at least a full 10?
Yeah never understood why the critics hated it so much. The plot, character arcs, villain, final battle etc outdid the first imo
I think Chozen feels more guilt to kumiko than to Daniel. It's rlly sad how chozen was afraid to confess his love to kumiko cause of his guilt here and was also awesome to see how we depend on him to go against terry silver.
@calebyi6956 I agree. Something tells me after Daniel won the death match here, he and Mr. Miyagi quickly got on the next airplane back to the states and when Chozen woke up from being passed out, it was probably then and there he apologized to Kumiko that he won't cause problems anymore and wanted to apologize to Daniel but, Kumiko must have told him that he and Mr. Miyagi left which was then and there Kumiko told Daniel on "Cobra Kai" that Chozen has changed in his behavior.
What if Chozen holds Terry Silver girlfriend Cheyenne hostage at knifepoint and forces him into a fight to the death and shutdown Cobra Kai expansions?
7:35 bruh i thought he was leaning in for a kiss here
My canon is that the order of the movies is 1-3-2. There's no way Daniel would be terrorized by Barnes after facing off a crazy martial arts master to death and risking his life to save his japanese crush.
IMO this is the best fight I’m the entire series (cobra Kai included). It’s very well choreographed, what music there is is perfect for the scene.
Just punch your enemy in the face over and over again until he falls down. Brilliant!
1:28 That makes me remind of what Miguel said to Sam in the finale of the 5th season of cobra Kai.
This was the most badass scene from all of the three movies and Cobra Kai too
I love how by the end of the fight, they are both the equivalent of limping old guys.
The actor of Chozen would make a great Rush Hour villain. I mean imagine a fight between Chozen and Jackie Chan
Jackie Chan would easily beat Chosen in less than one minute.

😂
6:55 Mr Miyagi knows Daniel is going to win but reminds him of mercy with just a look.
This should've been Part 3 and Not Part 2 they really screwed him up in Part 3.
I disagree. Just because he beat Chozen, doesn't mean he could have easily beaten Mike. In all three movies, Daniel was much weaker than his enemy. The focus was "Daniel may be weaker but he's more disciplined and has a stronger mind and can overcome his enemy".
3 was a bad movie execution with a good story. It never really bothered me it was after 2, it just bothered me how it never felt as grand as 2.
Part 3 basically a crappy rehash of the original. He beats his bully, (who is better than him by miles)
This actually works because it tells the back story about Mr.Mayagi and his families Karate.
I agree originally but when Cobra Kai is around I can appreciate it. Cobra Kai really cements how important it was for Daniel to fight for himself, others, and be balanced.
It makes it more reasonable that Mike Barnes was able to unhinge Daniel and beat him in every encounter because Daniel was isolated from his mentors and fighting off with aggression.
It also shows how badly Silver got into his head that makes him stronger in Cobra Kai. The fact he was able to tear apart the Miyagi and Daniel friendship despite KK2 really shows how good his plan was.
@@trojandarkhorse2022 Totally agree that Karate Kid 3 was quite inferior to the first two. Terry Silver, John Kreese and Mike Barnes all seemed pretty corny as villians in that movie. However Cobrah Kai made them so much better.
Was a shame his ice punch went unnoticed in Cobra Kai because of Johnny's school.

Kumiko: “That was a Long time ago! 😁 Chozen has changed! 😁”
I really am curious as what happened to Chozen in between the Cobra Kai flashback (when Chozen would use a pillow in the sand to soften the blow) and here
Stuff like the sand conditioning taught him that there’s no easy way out in his culture. So he becomes obsessed with doing things in the most intense and brutal way, like getting girls and defending his pride (like we see here).
In Season 6 of Cobra Kai, we need someone to become the image of Mr. Miyagi. Someone who can be a great teacher of balance between life and karate to the Future Students of Miyagi Do Karate as well as teach them honor in the lives they lead and right now Chozen fits the bill.
I also want to see young Miyagi & Sato in a flashback.

I love the detail of Mr. Miyagi’s statement to Daniel before he crosses the bridge. “Daniel-San. This not tournament. This for real.” It’s Mr. Miyagi’s way of confirming that Daniel knows what he’s getting into before he crosses. Not because he doesn’t want Daniel to save Kumiko, but because he genuinely wants Daniel to be aware of all the potential consequences. Truly a thoughtful, caring man.😁

What these 3 celebrities, Tamlyn Tomita, Traci Toguchi and Yuji Okumoto who reprised their Karate Kid 2 roles in Cobra Kai all have in common is that they're Japanese-Americans but the difference between them is their generations. Can you imagine if Daniel killed him here? It's hard to think about what Daniel would've done without him in the show.
He also wouldn't have been around to tell Daniel, Johnny, and Mike where Terry Silver lived.

it’s funny how much a movie can move your life. I watched the original karate kid when it came out, I was in high school. I started karate, which led to Judo, which led living in Japan…. and now I have grandchildren here…
Movie greatness!
The crane didn't work because that guy saw part 1...😬
He already knew the crane kick because his uncle had already taught him that move as well as how to defend it. Mr Miyagi and Chozen's Uncle Soto where both taught by Mr Miyagi's father so in order to defeat Chozen Daniel has to use an unknown counter punch.
Til this day, I can't fathom that even after fighting Johnny Lawrence, and then Chozen, how the hell did Daniel look so weak against Mike Barnes? He took a beating in KK3 considering all that fight experience in # 1 and # 2.
Mike was just that good. Get over it.
I do think that Mike Barnes was a better fighter than folks give him credit for. He was literally in a Karate magazine being touted as the next big thing, the bad boy of Karate. Daniel was never going to have that hype around him. Also in KK3 Silver got in his head. For the majority of the movie Miyagi was refusing to train him and Silver had been deliberately teaching him lessons and a style of fighting that made him doubt everything that Miyagi had taught him the previous two years. He was confused, manipulated and scared, and without Miyagi he had no balance. As soon as Miyagi was back in his corner and told him that his best Karate was still inside of him he won out. The balance and the kata was back and that's what defeated Barnes.
