It's funny how pretty much every hero forger has a specific color scheme they can never shy away from, for me it's yellow cyan and magenta. Fucking love that combo.
I can imagine every new model will have that fancy hip belt that came out recntly. So much more room for potions and trinkets lol. Perfect for when you finally get a new kobold theif to do

It depends tbh. Sometimes I change stuff at the end because finishing the Models & finishing the Videos are not always the same thing, and I realize I can make some edits to improve the models after the batch is already done. HOWEVER - if you mean specifically posing edits, yeah, that just comes down to bad planning tbh. Ideally you wanna do all the posing work before you've done much work on the models at all, but, I get ahead of myself sometimes. The whole "fitting them into square tiles" is a very boring aspect of these dnd builds
Nice to see the gang all glown up! Still funny to hear you be miffed about making elf characters despite really doing Briar justice with the vine effect. Maybe you could bargain for making her look more alien and otherworldly in the next version, given how she is supposed to be an eladrin? Fairy chest armor + Insectoid torso + artificial arms tends to be a very delightful combo, even if more on the biotech fantasy side of things.
Oh if I could do that I would love creating her. But honestly I think the player prefers a simpler more typical elf-y aesthetic so I'm not sure it'll ever get to that point
@@Derfholm Unfortunately, that's fair, even though it is impossible to tell half-elves, normal elves and eladrin apart with this approach due to all of them looking like just "humans with pointy ears". I would honestly love to actually see you make a self-indulgence elf model to test the waters with a more alien and otherworldly look, if the rest of the table is more conservative on how the elves should look like.
While I love your low fantasy skill, I'd love to see your take on some fantasy wild west characters. Maybe something akin to your videos of various factions within a story, but this time it's wild west themed, just with magic, non-human races, and other standard DnD aspects. Still, great work as always!
a tip for anyone who cares, me and my party have been playing through tabletop simulator, and you can import the minis on heroforge, and there are dnd mods on the workshop that are insane, we can 99% replicate the feeling of playing in a irl table!
I was just working on a halfling NPC today when I clicked on this new video. And boy does that halfling seem incredibly dull after watching these masterpieces. I’m quite certain you’re the best on the planet at using that software. You should have seen me trying to rig an Owlfolk Rogue using all kinds of maddening hacks.

4:21 That is interesting, I am new to DnD and made a young humble noble high elf girl, who wants to help to help the poor, but is too cowardly and was able to recover from illness that left her bedridden, so she is more frail, but quite dedicated into wizardry. DnD does allow ways to make character, how they are expressed, and how they progress through the campaign, but it is hard to get into it with a lof of rules and math to follow lol
A good dm would help you, you basically only need to know the basics and you learn as you play otherwise. Also, happy to answer any specific questions about soemthing you'd be struggling about.

I feel like you should make a model for like each class like for example monk (I think that could be very cool and interesting), fighter (specifically a samurai cuz cool and a fun challenge), rogue, warlock, ranger, barf etc you get the point those are just some ones that would prob turn out pretty cool and I know you’ve made some models for some of these classes but those were dnd characters so they had to look a certain way and you didn’t have full creative freedom

The resizing is something I'm looking forward to - for hands, decorations, weapons etc. I've already got ideas for a number of changes to existing models.

Look up the old demo video that the Skycastle team put together - they had a chicken-headed scarecrow thing that they called Mr. Tenders, that was nothing but assorted clothes and other objects assembled in a humanoid shape, with the actual base miniature figure shrunk way down.

Its been a long time since one of these has been done, and with the advent of Kitbashing I believe there is a whole range of new possibilities you could experiment with and showcase. Maybe even pair it with another contest? . . . I jest. A video on how existing techniques may be affected be the advent of Kitbashing. In this video, you touched on how even with Kitbashing, techniques like horn hair and cloth layering for the sake of clothing decals will still be relevant, at least for a time. Perhaps a video expanding on this, and talking about many of the existing techniques and how they will be affected by Kitbashing. This could include glitches, and how you think they will be treated especially by Skycastle going forward, as I know people use those quite a lot. A bugfolk or Birdfolk video. To continue the line of creature types in Hero Forge, these two would benefit from the new features greatly. And that concludes my suggestions. I hope they pique your interest and get some amount of consideration. Great video Derf, keep up the good work. Well wishes from the Midwest.

I played an Orc on a CoS campaign that was path of the beast, I tried to make a hero forge model of him but I couldn’t get him looking the way I wanted, I struggled to make him fat enough to look like a full Orc and when he activated his rage he would gain a whole bunch of chimeric features but it was difficult to portray that without just making him look like a werewolf.

not sure if this is a feature in roll20, but in foundry there is a separate slider for token scale, which allows you to make the token go slightly off the borders visually this allows me to have big tokens have MUCH more dynamic posing, avoiding a few issues you had present here now if this isn't a roll20 feature, completely disregard this, but otherwise, this would allow you to have much more freedom in posing for tokens

damn this really makes me wanna cash in on premium but despite the fact I've been making hundreds of random characters I still don't feel like I do enough work on any individual to utilize kitbashing as efficiently as you do! (i haven't even merged two extras yet lmao)
Derf videos always make me sad at how unskilled I am at heroforge. I made one good vecna miniature and that was it.

not sure if this is a feature in roll20, but in foundry there is a separate slider for token scale, which allows you to make the token go slightly off the borders visually
this allows me to have big tokens have MUCH more dynamic posing, avoiding a few issues you had present here
now if this isn't a roll20 feature, completely disregard this, but otherwise, this would allow you to have much more freedom in posing for tokens

How do you give the miniatures the portrait look? Is it a filter? Or do you trace manually trace them? It looks incredible.
How about some builds for a party of all BBEG/villains? Make them as wild and unique as possible. Give them all some sort of crazy weapon.

For real, though, I can't WAIT for this to come out. I just reupped by Pro subscription, so hopefully it'll come out before that ends. I did forget that this was closed beta and was hoping to give my Changeling Gnoll a bigger cape with the down hood for the competition, but eh. I can wait. I know I'm gonna have a blast with it when it comes out, though.
