Crispin Glover’s performance in the first movie was the stand out. Really missed his presence in the second movie.

Actually to me Crispin Glover shows signs of narcissistic personality disorder. I'm not saying he has it. Just that he shows some signs and that I see similarities. The way he blames people, the way he paints Bob Gale as the worst he can think of (a thief), and the way he cannot let go of this until Bob Gale apologizes. He had made 750.000$ through the lawsuit, and it's said he demanded 8x as much pay as the studio and his own manager thought was reasonable. I've seen these things all before, some in my personal life.
People with NPD are exceptionally good liars, and can have good acting skills, too, although usually these are a bit eccentric (which they were in back to the future). So, guys, be careful which side you're fooled by, Glover by being an actor can very well fool audiences, too.

@@nightmareTomek agree 100%. I don't believe his side of the story at all. I've listened to Bob Gale tell his side of the story and I buy his account more. At the end of the day, I believe it was all about Glover wanting way too much money and wanting script approval.

@Bobby Heenan Interesting take considering Bob said and did those things, Glover sued him and won. Now Bob is under cease and desist. So take the interviews with a grain of salt. The facts more align with Glover's side of the story.

It's ineteresting that NOW Bob Gale says he wasn't in Part 2&3 because he wanted too much money, but BEFORE in the DVD commentary, he just says that Crispin was making different career decisions.

The reason why he wasn't in BTTF2 was the fact he wanted way more money than the studio was willing to pay him (he wasn't the star) so that much is true. Where the legality issue comes in is how they used his likeness after the fact.

You wouldn't be pissed that they ruin a character that you put your heart into (Essentially the case of Henry Cavill in The Witcher), then get shut down, be expected to return after being shut down, use a mask to cover up the fact that they replace you, and then make a story that you left because you wanted more money. Even if he did ask for more money we also need to know what he was paid in the first place. We need to know a lot of factors to make judgement yet you saying he might even have a disorder is disgusting

What I wrote isn't disgusting, it's a warning to be careful with certain things, and not take stories of total victimhood at face value. Usually they are anything but. You wanna ignore the warning, then do it, it's your life, fall in love with Glover, nobody cares.
Unfortunately I have been right about these topics in the past more often than you can count. Only if you are encouraging others to be as blind as you and it potentially makes them end up with harmful people, then your behavior is actually the disgusting one.
Dude looks so young for his age.. He's 50 in this.... he looks not much different than he did when filming BTTF1 in 1985 when he was 21 years old.

My suspicion is that sometime in the 90's they traveled here to the future and only occasion zip back to the intervening years to make an appearance or two so that people don't think they've gone missing. The present is like a summer home for them. Maybe in 50 years we'll be saying the same thing and realize they also vacation into OUR future.

Well absinthe is really just a botanical spirit that tastes like liqueur and has a ridiculously high ABV. There's nothing really special about it other than the alcohol content. So, yeah, it'll fuck up your memory.

George Mcfly is one of the coolest characters ever played on film. You really wanna see him do well. It is the unassuming and gentle way Crispin played him. They knew it was impossible to do it without him. Even if he was difficult, he still deserved what he wanted. How much have these films made?

George was meant to have a huge role in back to the future two. Chris didn’t like the way George and his family became rich and that somehow bought happiness.
Him and Claudia Wells deserve all the perpetual credit they contributed to in Back to the Future for helping the franchise be what it is still today.

Them asked him to work on the sequel and as result he asked to be earned. The director disliked the answer and spread a rumor. Mainly because there are second class actors in hollywood who aren't able to ask to be earned. The negotiation is that they are at the shortest stick. Take the job or leave hollywood.

idk why, but i've never seen Back to the Future (1985) until two weeks ago. and hoooly shit, this actor (Crispin Glover) was absolutely fantastic in this movie. one of the best acting performances i've ever seen.

Bob I saw river's edge and didn't know at the time that Lane was the same actor as George Mcfly. He also played Andy Warhol in a movie about the doors.
He's also in Hot Tub Time Machine, and I think he was in American God's as well.
Friday The 13th part iv/Rivers Edge/People Vs Larry Flynt, are also good examples of Crispins work

this is one of the most unprofessional, annoying interviews i've ever seen. the host is loud, he keeps interrupting Crispin, his mic is WAY too loud and much louder than Crispins, the guys walking around in the background is distracting and pointless.

100% agree. I can’t stand it when hosts have guests on and then consistently interrupt and chime in with a “yeah....” and “hmmm-mm...” every few seconds. Let the guest speak. The different mic volume mix is very noticeable, too. Disrespectful and annoying.
Don’t really get the anger behind the three guys walking in. This was clearly meant to be part of a radio podcast, therefore, we would’ve never known they were present. They were silent as they should be, they just walked into a podcast happening, but weren’t disruptive. I dunno. It didn’t bother me. o_O

He had a bit of Andy Kaufman in him. He would make you think he was weird and strange but in reality he's pretty normal. Definitely a bit eccentric though.
The dude has a point that I did not know of before. Like he says, had it been a "Lookalike" it would not be as bad. But if you hire a VW and dress it up like a Porsche and try to pass it off as one, then yes, your ass should be called out on that and pay the consequences.

Man hasn't aged a day since 1985. They could reshoot Back to the Future 2 and 3 with him today and you wouldn't be able to notice the difference.

I didn't know that until now either. That is absolutely terrible to use someone's face and slap it on another actor. That is very sneaky and disgusting.
+Lisa Loynd I think Crispin's mold that was used on the actor was when George was upside down on a device to help straighten his back out from throwing it out at the golf course. The purpose of the mold was to make the actor look older. Have the actor be upside so not many shots of his face. Any shots from the original BTTF with Crispin in it they repurposed for BTTF2. They just used the mold to make the new actor look more like an older version of the George McFly the character. If that is against the rules to use Crispin's likeness then so be it. I thought I read Crispin won his lawsuit with an undisclosed amount. He really shouldn't still be bitching about this anymore. But what do I know?

I don't know, man. If someone famous was lying about you and claiming you were a greedy jackass demanding money, and this person continued to spout this lie in numerous interviews and DVD commentary tracks, wouldn't you be just a little bit miffed?
Probably, but there's no evidence Zemeckis & Gale were lying. I spoke to Michael Klastorin, who wrote the 2015 "visual history" book on the series; he said he had access to legal documents involving Crispin for his research. According to the book, Crispin was offered double salary of the last film he'd made, and given an option to play Seamus McFly in the third film. Zemeckis & Gale said their budget was already maxed out, and Crispin responded by replacing his agents to try and get a bigger deal. For a man who says the ending to the first film was about greed, it seemed he got that way himself during negotiations for the sequels. After Crispin refused for good, Jeffrey Weissman was hired, and Michael J. Fox agreed to play Seamus.
The guys who made the "Back to the Future" movies made too big a deal out of this, too-- like Mister Glover said here, they got another actress to play Jennifer and nobody made a big deal about it-- I'm sure they could have found somebody new to play George and nobody would have had cared.
They did hire another actor. And this is my question about this. If I was the makeup artist who is essentially making a mask, don't I have rights to that art and simply put it atop another face with similar structure?
+questworldmatrix No. The make-up artist is hired to do a job. They don't own the rights to your face. Even William Shatner got a check for the Myers mask used in Halloween.
+ttarkA113 Not to hijack the comments here, but yes. The mask used was originally a James T. Kirk/Star Trek mask. They died it white, cut open the eye holes and teased the hair. Do a Google image search for Myers/Shatner mask. Enjoy!

I LOVE Back to the Future, but his Glover's critique about the morality of it is spot on. Marty goes back in time to fix his family all so that they can become vapid people with material success.
It's weird how they did a 180 on the sequel, showing the rich McFly family as sad people.
I guess the times changed fast in between the films.
Crispin, I wished you would have made it into the second movie regardless of what they were unwilling to pay you. You were an asset to the film and I think it's sad about what happened to you.

I heard somewhere else that he was offered only half of what the rest of the supporting cast (e.g. Biff, Lorraine) was offered, despite having equal screentime to them in the original.

Enjoyed the interview even though I’m not particularly a Glover fan. The guys in the background were VERY unprofessional. Even the camera person is distracted and continues to focus on them at times. A little more professionalism would have made this interview so much more.

Actually to me Crispin Glover shows signs of narcissistic personality disorder. I'm not saying he has it. Just that he shows some signs and that I see similarities. The way he blames people, the way he paints Bob Gale as the worst he can think of (a thief), and the way he cannot let go of this until Bob Gale apologizes. He had made 750.000$ through the lawsuit, and it's said he demanded 8x as much pay as the studio and his own manager thought was reasonable. I've seen these things all before, some in my personal life.
People with NPD are exceptionally good liars, and can have good acting skills, too, although usually these are a bit eccentric (which they were in back to the future). They rely on bringing people onto their side and manipulate them, because they know if the truth comes out, they'll lose people. So be careful which side you're fooled by, Glover by being an actor can very well fool audiences, too.
Again, I'm not saying, that he did.
Crisping is such a weird guy but a very good actor. A great George McFly.

It’s been a long time since I saw the DVD interviews he’s referring to, but I seem to remember someone (I thought it was Robert Zemeckis, but it might’ve been Bob Gale) saying that Crispin just didn’t want to come back. Which is why they created the alternate 1985 where George was dead.
They were real pricks to Crispen. Great actor and complex guy.

underrated is an underrated word when talking Crispin Glover. bttf, willard, that movie he did with Tatum O Neal (forgot the name of the film) and of course, A River's Edge, are all must sees

I also feel bad for Jeffrey Weissman. He came in because Universal didn’t want to pay Glover the money he wanted, and he was basically ostracized by Lea Thompson & couldn’t give his own performance of George McFly.

It was just so sad, I was really looking forward to seeing Crispin Glover in all 3 films! But the future is what it is! Your still a great actor, no matter what the Out come was on a personal scale.

Crispen is right only he can do that scene in front of the car where he points his finger and says "Hey you keep your hands off her!" . Only he could play the part of being shy and standing his ground at the same time, He definitely should have been treated better than he was for the sequel. That s terrible to be treated like that, a stand in to replace him!
You got to admit, this guy has aged really fucking well considering BTTF was released in 1985!

Crispin is a very under rated actor. To this day I have yet to see someone that has his range in the different types of characters and personalities he can do. The awkward George McFly is just a small morsel of what he can do. He can go for lovable George McFly to the cold serial killer Layne in River's Edge.
I hope he got a big Payday because that was totally wrong.
