      F him the hypocrite! He's unhappy with the original ending cause it portrayed money equals happiness and then refuses to do the next movie and so on because he isn't getting as much happiness (ie. Money) as MJF or Biff when one was the literal lead and front runner and the other the main protagonist. His part was so important that he could have been written out of the second and he was in the third.

    • @airget
      @airget 4 года назад +215

      Ya, it feels like he just saw it wrong, it's not like they magically came into money. It was that his character arc of overcoming his fear and standing up to his bully allowed him to have the courage to write and publish his book.
      If there was one thing I'd change though it's how BIff is portrayed after. I feel what lacks is how Biff is bullied by the Father in a sense and how sub-servant he comes off towards him. It's like sure, he decked Biff and got the girl in the end but having Biff still be in their life in such a manner does feel a bit mean-spirited.
      Like if I could rewrite it, they could of had Biff be a better person and then in part 2 he realizes that Marty had access to a time machine and the person he saw in the past was the same person in the present since he's now seeing this person in the future and it would of boiled his blood to the point where he would want to change things where Marty ruined his life. That would of offered more meaning towards Biff's actions rather than him just being a bad person.

      I think if you really watch it again, it's not that he's a handyman, he works detailing cars.
      He probably enjoys the job more, working in classic cars like he did as a teen, as opposed to whatever office job he got with George so he could bully him into doing his work.
      Besides, it's not like George is cheating him. And his demeanor is much nicer too. He's probably a better man at the end of all of this as well.

    I didn't know that Glover disliked the ending of the first movie and I gotta say I gotta fully disagree on that.
    Marty and his family aren't more happy because "money buys happiness" they're more happy because thanks to Marty's effort to change his father from a weakling and spineless dork that no one respect to a confident and badass that finally knows how to stand up for himself against the bully that made him into a pathetic man in the first place.
    In other words, the ending shows because of George's change personality he became a better man, a better husband, a better father, a better businessman and best of all he's respected by everyone including Biff, but he also treats Biff with respect because he knows better which also implies that his kindhearted nature or at least human decency never left.

Part 2 teaches Marty the evils of using time travel for financial gain, Part 3 teaches Marty that love is more important than ego and reputation. If they were going to take his advice in the end anyway, why not just admit it and patch things up with Glover. Why lie and give him the shaft?

      Meh. Look, the entire ordeal came about because one actor didn't like one aspect of the story being worked on by the people who hired said actor. He was out of line. Full stop. He's the one who made the entire thing blow up the way it did, and the compromises that were forced onto the producers were his fault entirely. Let me stress that point: Things that made the second movie a lesser movie are there because one actor throwing a fit left the producers with their hands tied.

    • @nicktubara
      @nicktubara 4 года назад +13

      @@Asterra2 oh please Crispin having to be vocal about the script towards the end is why Bob Gale constantly puts so much negatives into him throughout the constant director commentaries he does in the Dvd releases of BTTF. • @nicktubara

      Just wait with CGI tech in a few years and voice modulation software studios will probably have it in actors contracts that they have the right to use your face and voice after you die. Hell they already did it in star wars rouge 1. Looked off at times but give it a few years.

      @switch player 101 They used the technique but for Rogue One they got permission from both Carrie Fisher (who was alive at the time) and from the Cushing Estate to use their likenesses. So no, they didn't already do it the way you say for that movie. Same goes for the use of Carrie's footage/likeness in Rise Of Skywalker.
      For the future, if the actor signs those rights away in their contracts then so be it, it's their choice.

    From everything that I've read, they really wanted Michael J. Fox, but they couldn't get him. They had to start filming, so Eric was hired as a placeholder. Then the director deliberately told Eric that he was giving a good performance even though he knew that the studio was looking for a different performance. This insured that when Michael became available, the studio would agree to fire Eric and hire Michael in his place.

He has this really intense, dramatic look in most scenes, I'd like to know how that affected the performances of the other actors involved. It's curious, I saw Eric on Mad About You and he played a really awesome, funny character, which is the tone he could have chosen for in Back to the Future and I'm sure he would have been great in it had he done so. I wonder why he made that choice of making the character be so serious and dramatic, I'm guessing Bob tried to get the comedic side and it just didn't happen...
