The r5ii looks like a solid upgrade, I am excited about the dynamic range, readout speed, and upgrades to the focusing system. The rest is gravy. Canon isn't about having the flashiest specs, rather they are more about reliability and joy of use.... My only wish is that we would have got illuminated buttons, which in my opinion, should be a standard feature in all pro bodies.
I liked this video so much I hit the like button 3 times! I like your take on the camera, first video I’ve seen of yours and I’m subscribing already. Only advice I could give you if you’d be open is when you edit together clips, try fading the audio so it doesn’t cut off abruptly ❤
If you want CF Express you want Type B not type A. The R5 Mark I has one CF Express Type B. The main advantage to Type B is maximum read/write speed. CF Express A has a max read speed of 2000 MB/s and a write speed of 1700 MB/s. CFexpress Type B has a max read speed of 4000 MB/s and a write speed of 3000 MB/s.
"Megapickles"?? Simon's people will be in touch. I have no use for neural network reduction. But most of the R5 II's other features are rad and I've ordered it. That said, I wish the R5 II had a 3-axis LCD and oversampled 4K video beyond 60 FPS. 4K/120 with sound is great but I'd prefer a sharper image. To your question about cards. CFE-B cards are both faster and cheaper than CFE-A. If anything, I'd rather see dual CFE-B cards in the R5 II and similar bodies.
Far too often in this video, I just flat out disagreed or was bewildered by some of the contrasts you made. Is this some type of a ploy to rank your RUclips page higher by getting a lot of comments or something? It just doesn’t make sense to not understand the importance or placement of an R3 or R1. These are wildly different cameras with different purposes than R5/R5II 🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@JBlakePhoto gotcha. just a weird format & combo of comments, esp on camera you haven't shot. suppose that's my fault for thinking 'Initial impressions' meant you actually had it in hand, but comes across as another speculative vid to create some clicky controversy. As landscape photog with not a lot of demand/need for high performance camera, perhaps unviable/odd to comment on something you're not overly apt with?
Idk but there a big disconnect from pros and RUclipsrs imo. No youtuber cared about the 1dx mark 3 either but if you watch pro sports they are everywhere on the side lines.
Z8 is the natural competition for the R5 mkii huh? Very similar features. I haven’t tried out the amazing new Nikon cameras yet so I’m curious if this will be able to sell well despite being more expensive than the Z8.
If it’s overpriced and not as good as the Z8 nobody will buy it right? I think the consumer will decide on that and I will imagine the R5II will massively outsell the Z8 for all the reasons the reviewers are saying. The Z8 is a good camera. The Canon though has a list of useful features and spec’s which surpass those of the Z8 and its much heavier too.
just sold my z8 to buy the r5ii, z8 has horrible iso, dynamic range, evf, lcd, and sub par auto focus, r5 ii will beat the z8 in all these categories, worth the few hundred extra!

Amen to illuminated buttons.
R5 Mk II, the Flagship...with a nice price ! It will be mine, for sure !
I really do think the R5 line has always been the real flagship of the lineup!
@@ErikPelyukhno Totally agree with you !
You're right about the R3; it really is in a weird position.

Is there shutter angle
Will there be a 30 min record limit? 🤔
I preordered yesterday morning. I have the canon R6 Mark II and 5D Mark IV. I am selling the 5D to put towards this one.
Just based on the specs R5c or R5 MK II?
I thought it was Megapeppers?!

Canon playing catch up. Underwhelming and overpriced
Nah. It's fine.
Nobody cares about the R1! lol

@@jeanvargas4919 that’s fair.
Still overpriced versus the much better Nikon Z8 which is $800 cheaper. Canon has no third party options. Etc etc.
