I will add a YUGE **THANK YOU** for this! I did your cast on and it was in a word: PERFECTON! I am using a "S" loom from Temu and I am not a novice but I prefer easier patterns so I can "listen" to a movie and knit and not have to really be zoned in on my project. My blanket is cast on and I am starting and I gotta say "it's addictive" and PERFECT for me. Have I said thank you?? God bless!
This was such a wonderful video🥹 your voice is soft and enjoyable to listen to, you explain WHY things work or don’t work, so much detail. Just great!!
This is the kind of video I was looking for. Great instructions. Great questions to cover and answer. I love the explanation of symmetry between stitches. ❤
Hi Deborah, wanted to thank you for this stitch. I wasn’t to thrilled with the stitch in this video, but it seemed easy enough to do so thought I would try it out. I’m so glad I did. Still working on the project with a worsted weight 4 yarn in soft white for my daughters wedding and am now a big fan of the stitch. No kidding as I’m done with each row, I’m in awe of how beautiful it is. My hubby and son are probably getting sick of me saying that I’m in love with this stitch 😆. I owe it all to you for introducing it to me. Thank you, thank you, my daughter loves it so far.
Oh my goodness I have been working all day trying to e-wrap and then purl the third row. I have taken it out so many times! I almost gave up and never do loom knitting again! Then your video popped up and it was like a light 💡. Yes!! I thought why not try another way. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I think you may have saved my sanity.
First time I've been on your channel. I have made socks on a loom and that's about all. I'm a needle knitter having problems with my hands. I love your cast on method and can't wait to try it. Thank you for taking the time to show novices like myself the loom knitting potentials.
I am so glad that I found this video. I am a 60 year knitter but I thought that I'd try this loom knitting. Of course the scarf that I was trying to make curled on both sides. Doing the purl stich with the loom looks mighty complicated and I really didn't want to learn it as a beginner; so finding your video was a God-send. Thank you so much. Very easy to follow tool
What a fun stitch. Thinking of using it in a few projects instead of regular knit/purl. I have a question: do you have any tutorials on how to make horizontal gaps (bind off several stitches in the middle and then cast them on again) using the owl eye stitch? Having some difficulty figuring it out since it uses two pegs each time. Want to use it for some form of handle on a bag. I know I can use a basic bind off and then the chain cast on on the way back, but was thinking of keeping the same pattern…
Hi Deborah I bought two loom kits a few years ago but gave up on them because I hated the purl stitch but this one has rekindled my Interest . It’s easy , fast and lovely and flat. Thank you so much for this video
I've made a couple of swatches and the owls eye has won over garter! I'm using these for Chelsea dolls so a swatch is a project for me. I used size 3 yarrn on a 1/4 inch loom. Thank you ! Now I have to figure out how to use other stitches with it? I want to knit beads into the project.
Thank you for this video. You make outstanding instructional videos! I am planning to make a shawl which alternates panels of garter stitch and a lace stitch. The owl eye looks like a great alternative for the lace stitch. 🥰
Hi! 😁 Thank you for sharing your new video. I will be trying out the Owl Eye stitch on my 24-peg round loom. I want to see how it looks (as a swatch). I tend to be a “tight” loom knitter. I will take your advice as per your instruction with keeping the yarn a little loose. Have a wonderful weekend. 😃
Thanks for explaining how to do the Owl Eye Stitch Deborah, and that’s a very interesting looking stitch you created, and I will definitely give it a try, because I mostly do garter stitch on my blanket’s, but I will give your stitch a try😉
Thanks, Deborah! I'm a novice at loom knitting. I took it up because with needles I regularly dropped or added stitches inadvertently and forgot what I was doing. The loom makes it harder to do those things, so it's right up my alley! Even so, I still have to keep things fairly simple. This stitch is definitely going in my little bag of tricks for sure!💗
thank you for posting this. i want to try it. but too much exposition. but that's my opinion. i love that you created this stitch for us and made a video to show us how to do it. so awesome. and i learned about the chain cast on too. i think i like that better. you are a genius. thanks so much.
You are welcome. You can watch my last one for this stitch it was much shorter. This one was created with more explanation for those who asked me for it.
That really didn’t help me. Owl eye is done over 2 pegs. Every other stitch I’ve had to increase and decrease was done on just one peg. So do I make the changes in groups of 2?
look at one of my purses or bags i did in owl eye stitch or another stitch where i did increases and decreases i have quite a few. for instance on a triangle flap or on a strap that has increases and decreases.
Thank you so very much for sharing your talents. I now have a new stitch to try. I just want to keep learning new things so I stay interested in my hobby. I appreciate all of your hard work! 👏😊👍
I was wondering if you can do the owl eye stich in the round whether you have an even or odd peg loom?? You are very good at what you do!!!! Thank you for sharing your talent with everyone!!

Thank you for explaining why and how the stitches work the way they do! Would you recommend owl eye for a baby blanket? Thank you for teaching others! ❤️ I love owl eye stitch!
if you mean this one, owl eye then yes I have made many...if its one of my other stitches with owl in the name you will have to tell me the correct name, as there is no owl stitch.
If I remember correctly after watching the video you stated that this stitch makes a tighter pattern than an E wrap and somebody sent me a link to your video that is a combination of owl eye and E wrap and I wondered which one will make a tighter pattern? I am going to use this to make small blankets for our vet for animals to have after their surgery and figured a tighter pattern would be better to not catch in their nails etc. Thank you, I love your videos❣️
This has been needed for a looooong time. I bought your round pattern(memory is not working right now lol) but I couldn’t use your pattern bc I didn’t understand the stitch. Thank you :)
look at my fun fin shawl i used increases and decreases with owl eye...i also did short rows on a number of projects with owl eye....all on my channel.
Really cool. I’d been wondering how to do the crochet cast on, and you explained it so easily. The owl eye stitch long with the purl is going to be my next project. I started a scarf last year, but instead of the knit e , purl . . . I accidentally started the garter stitch. It wasn’t the same, and now I cannot remember how I was working the project. Is there any way to tell? I tore out the 25 rows of garter because it took me that long to figure out I was doing the wrong stitch. I suspect I may have used a u stitch then purl. I’m going to do like 10 more rows but I may end up pulling those out as well. Sigh. I think I need some sleep. Loom knitting is addicting.
Im a beginner and would like to know if I can use an infinity loom with this stitch and how do you finish the blanket, how do I bind off the project. Thank you.
Thank you! I think I am finally getting the Owl Eye Stitch. It is so easy. I don’t know why I was making it difficult. What did you use as your cast off?
I like using the Owl Eye Stitch for borders on blankets, scarves, shawls, etc, not so much for its non-curling effect (which I agree, it doesn’t), but I ❤️❤️❤️ the braided look it gives the edges! And I’ve had such good luck with my 4-sided edges looking even, ie 3 side stitches to 3 rows. They look even, not so with other border stitches.
I like this so verry much, but the yarn, for which needles was that? I guess mine is to thin, so I get much holes….. can you help me on your way? PS I’m from another country, so we use cm etc. Not inches. So I don’t know how to have a good match yarn-loom.
