    Thanks Mike, I had commented about doing a series of videos on a project. I think something along those lines would resolve the problem of what everyone calls intermediate and advanced. I suspect some of it is going to be to advanced for some while not advanced enough for others but it would include a little bit of everything. From what I am seeing quite a few are here to learn this stuff to become a marketable professional 3D designer or artist and while such a video series would tackle the intermediate and advanced question it would also help those seeking this as a profession to see the workflow and how you take a project from concept all the way through final production. Thats my two cents on your question...;)

    Very good tutorial! How can I combine the diffuse and the AO so it renders them together.
    Or do I have to render them separate and stick them together and overlay it in photoshop?

    Thanks for the video explaining the Render setup window. However, when you did a render of the diffuse layer it was set to the beauty pass and you didn't add any material overrides so it didn't change the render settings. You might need to update this video so it shows how to make a diffuse pass with the correct settings and it could be good to have some explaination as to what the diffuse actually does and it's use. Thank you for demonstrating the Ambient Occlusion and Wireframe passes they worked fine!

    When you render the Diffuse in your Render Layer, you do not choose the Eye Icon to render that Diffuse, you just render the Beauty Layer, not the Diffuse Layer!

    I would love to see more videos on Substance Designer and how to create procedural shaders in SD. Also, any procedure shaders done in Arnold through the hypershade window would be good too.

      You can find the best possible tutorials for Substance Designer and Painter on their You Tube channel, Allegorithmic. No need to wait for anyone.
      Also, Arvid Schneider's the best out there for Arnold. He has tons of in depth tutorials for everything Arnold related.

    Sir, the new render passes editor isn't available in my version of Maya despite it being the 2018 one. Rather it's the old one, is there any update available to download the new one?

    Sir i am facing one problem.

      Layer stack it in PS and then overlay it ( or multiply )

      You can not :-( Textures can not be exported out of Keyshot

    Theres an easier way to accss this (I didnt have the cube render icon) go to channel tab and there should be a render layer tab at the bottom. Simply select the geometry and create a layer and name it OC. Right click and go to override create new material and OC should be right there. Was super simple for me. My my didnt come with Render tab automatically though. You have to go to settings and preferences and go to render settings and add the renderlegaciy systen. If you want to use the legacy Render Layer system, open the Preferences window, select the Rendering category, and then select Legacy Render Layers as the Preferred Render Setup system.

      For 2018, select image and hit R to scale. For older version change size in Attribute editor

    I'm a total beginner in maya, no matter how hard I try I can't activate AOVs, the only thing I get in my render view is beauty, that lead to a noisy render result.PLAEAS HELLLPPPP !

      Pick the render view from the Arnold drop down menu and you should have it.

      @@seanakima50515e This is exactly what I'm trying to do, in the render settings, AOVs Tab I try to bring RGBA and direct diffuse and indirect diffuse, but in the arnold render view I only have beauty, i also activated merge AOVs in the common tap, Image format exr... but for some weird reason i cant get the AOVs, this is crazy af. HHHEEELLLPPPP, lol

    I would like tutorial that is more CGI/VFX similar to this tutorial: ruclips.net/video/Zx6FTY4j0N4/видео.html or stuff exploding like in movies. With more in-dept on how to think and different approaches to tackle the problem, why you use one way over the other. Like if I do this way I get almost as good result with less effort, but to get good result I need to do like this. Also how to work with big scenes without your computer get super slow.
    I want the viewer to think is that real or not. If they think that they you know it's good animation. I should consider this advanced.
    Another thing you can do is to collect all mistakes (Not that I say you do many) in a video and how you approach to fix them. That can be nice to learn from them, since for me misstakes comes often and sometimes I don't know how to fix them without take ugly shortcuts.
    Thanks for the good tutorial I learnt a lot from you and your tutorials :)
