WRC 10 Review - The Final Verdict

- As compared to past versions of the WRC franchise, WRC 10 doesn’t add an incredible amount. Its Anniversary Mode is a great new place to see the history of the sport, and some of the tweaks are welcomed, but I don’t see it as a huge upgrade over last year.
As it compares to other racing games, though, anyone looking for that feeling of rallying, especially requiring pinpoint precision and dynamic car changes, has another fantastic experience built for them, and anyone who hasn’t experienced the series before can jump into the best game in the series so far and find the best long-distance rally package on the market.

Just got this game on PC last night so only have two hours on it so far. Played a LOT of WRC 9 though. For anyone coming from that they will feel right at home. Improved physics, greatly improved audio (the cars sound so good), you can now choose between a male and female co-driver voice. Co-drivers now have immersive voice so they will grunt when you hit something, celebrate with an "Awesome" or "YES!" when you are fastest in a sector and say things like "that was a little ambitious" when you go to hot into a turn and run wide. If the immersive voice gets annoying you can shut it off. Finally we get an option to have a shakedown stage to give you a chance to get used to the road surface before the rally starts. Livery editor is new as well and lots of new rally's with more free rallies coming in DLC as there were last minute schedule changes because of the pandemic and some didn't make it into the game. So far super happy with my purchase. I bought the PC version but might get the Series X version as well when it launches where I live.
No shakedown practice until wrc10? Wow pff lol.
Mostly the old cars improved sounds.
And the female codriver at least is super robotic.

You seem to know the game well just tel me something how is the driving couse the others were almost impossible to drive. And thanks buy the way couse im very intersted on this game.
@@candidosilva7755 I play with a wheel setup and it drives very very well. Haven't tried it with a controller. You can always buy it on steam and try it out. If you play less than 2 hours in the first two weeks and don't like it you can just request a refund. No risk.
Do you have any footage of the Belgian rally? I've been searching around and just can't find any :(.
Remember victory run on turbo graphics 16? Holy crap technology has gone so far in such a short time I feel old lol .. looks amazing! No wonder why my kids stay up all night playing video games

Looks awesome, except for those tunnels which look like they were ripped straight out of a PS2 game.
I realized that too! it looked like a straight walls with textures on top lol. GameCube Game basically.

been hooked on these games since wrc 6 completely awesome games i love the sound of the gravel rocks spiiting up on the car on the power sliding drifting the tracks are beautiful and the cars
Great game, i cant stop playing it. The physics are awesome, livery editor is great as well! Hope they fix the minor bugs and give us more stages and cars!
Thanks heaps for the review, I have a problem with rally games tho I enjoy them but I'm terribly bad at them, I feel awesome when I get through a stage without stack attacking it off the edge of a cliff or into a tree, so yeah love a good rally game, it's fun, but not so good at them, what's truly bizarro land tho is with Dirt Rally in PSVR I'm actually quite good at that, I really wish more rally and racing games supported it more, thankyou heaps again for the review, take care n have a good one 👍
Whoever plays a driving game in 3rd person deserves a circle of hell just for him

Looks incredible... I remember sinking hours into Sega Rally, but this - well, makes the former look like just a toy.
Which stages are available in career mode?
If I see a review of a serious racing game played primarily in third person view I immediately take it with a grain of salt.
They do that with a reason. For a review you have a better overview of the cars and the surroudings. Thats the main reason.
Any driving game i play i always use the cockpit ore bonnet vieuw.
NEVER third person view.

I am playing this atm on PC & really enjoying it so far, but have had to spend a lot of time trying to fix stutters which are very annoying thats the only thing that has spoiled it so far.
Is there an option to switch between co-driver voices?

This is the way. I'm so backed up with quality games, that I myself just wait until the 'Super Complete Ultimate Deluxe GOTY Edition' comes out and then quickly goes on sale.

Phisics are close to DR 2.0?
Cant belive this game still penalising players for using hard tires. I got fired in WRC8/ 9 on career mode becase of this. Good way to make a good game annoying to play.
Its a realistic game. You would get fired for using the wrong tires in real life
@@adrngonzz1956 Have you played the game or just commenting for the sake of it. You get these pointless challenges that penalise you driver rep just of using tires. When reputation hits bottom you get fired. Its like being in F1 and getting a negative reputation for using an allocated tire. Makes no sesnes.
I've only ever played WRC 8 from the series, and would like to get this one.
But I'm making myself NOT buy any new games until I can get my hands on a PS5. . . hopefully this year.

Have both games and I prefer WRC over Dirt Rally.

@@Shiva_Codes I believe WRC feels more natural, it looks more realistic. The car movement are more accurate. Unlike Dirt Rally that feels more like an arcade. But this is just my opinion. MY OPINION.

I can't take any review of a rally game seriously when all the video shows is the out of car view.
If I play longer stages my game will have a massive fps drops and screen tear for the entirety of the latter half of the race, anyone else have this problem. (I’m on xbox series S btw)
Can you or can you not play this or WRC 9 without wheel? I have bad experience and no room for it. And I love rally games compared to normal track racing

Finally the sad Journey of DiRT games is over. They really destroyed the franchise with dirt rally 2.0 and Dirt5. WRC series has won the competition!! This is the best rally game ever made!!

The only thing about modern WRC games is that considering the minimal upgrades, paying full price every year is a bummer. I wish there was an option to “upgrade” from 8 to 9- 9 to 10 and so on. Not for free of course, even 30 or 40$ would be fine. But paying full price every year is such a bummer for basically minimal upgrades
Use your brain bro , buy always the last year version for 30 bucks , this way you have new game every year for half the price

“Win a race”. It’s a rally not a race
Technically it’s a “special stage” if you want to nitpick. “Rally” is the collective term for all special stages/super special stages at a location.
Why you guys never ever mention on any review if the gyroscope motion sensor of ps4 can be used to steer? Such an important detail of a “Driving Game” that you just fail to test, good job!
Can u do this in 9 and 8 too? Good thing to try for less sensitive pad steering
i just bought a wrong version holy cow intead of ps5 version i bought ps4 what a stupid day thats why i cant find the performance mode because its ps4 version how sad
Here's my take, I play on a pc with a very expensive rig, Fanatec DD1, Odyssey G9, RTX 3080 Ti, etc...WRC 10 so far feels like a slight improvement physics wise, and I already LOVE wrc 9. WRC 10 requires more precision input, especially throttle feathering. The new audio is different, but equally as bad as ever imo, all the cars still sound the same. And it's absolutely shameful that there is no telemetry/VR/motion platform support yet again. Apart from that, wrc 9 was already the best rally game, now wrc 10 is. I guess we'll have to wait for Codemasters in 2023 for better audio and VR/motion support.

My guy.. this is a legit thing for me, I'm so backed up on my games because i just don't have the time to catch up.. New assassins creed games is a good example, beautiful games but they're so packed of grindy bs sidequests :/ Getting to the point where i want linear games back lol

After restart and same driving i got a green 4 seconds

Humm ive just purchased wrc10 after long decision after buying wrc8 a few years ago wrc8 was ok and i really thought after watching reviews of wrc10 I'd bite the bullet & purchased wrc10 and after a few days ive decided its a pile of crap i prefer wrc8 over this and wrc8 was not that good..
Ok wrc10 has a great amount of content great stages but thats it... it seriously lacks atmosphere and the smell of rally, it just reminds me when id walk into an arcade and see a driving game it looked good but that was it put yer money in play for a few minutes game over...
I was amazed after playing wrc10 for 5hrs flat i decided to slap on dirt rally evern though im bored stiff with it and suddenly thrown into a rally atmospheric game great sounds polished graphics better car control especially iff your using a full driving rig with clutch and H shifter ok the stages let it down but there's more feeling in the stages as wrc8/wrc10 the stages a great but theres no immersion in the track surface you can fly over rocks feeling nothing through the wheel the ffb is poor it just rumbles at different volumes...
Im disappointed with wrc10 i was expecting better especially after wrc8 was a big step from wrc7 / wrc6
Lets hope EA dont cripple codemasters 1st attempt at wrc

Bro, have you even heard about Dirt Rally 2.0? That thing looks photorealistic, this is 5-7 years behind in graphics and by the looks of it, the physics! "Best rally racing and long distance rallying game", you gotta be a console only guy to miss out on DR 2.0.
Good game, BUT ALOT to improve, wich for...not best game on market yet.
At the risk of sounding like an ass, for a game like this I simply don't trust the opinion of someone that plays from the chase cam view.

This game might be good on console with controller, idk, but on PC with wheel, it's another ballgame. You get the feeling every car floats (especially on gravel and in wet conditions), instead of drives. The wheels of the car don't give much feedback, telling you what's going on with the car, instead you get some annoying vibrations (unless you turn them down or even off) The graphics are ok, although tunnels and anniversary car models look like some sega game from the 90's. The feedback on a wheel is not that great and I also feel, the more stages you do, the less feedback you get from the game. If you play longer sessions or change something in the menu, you better reboot the game, cause you'll lose force feedback for sure. If you look at this game as an arcade or simcade game, you might say ok. But if you look for simulation or "realistic feeling", this is not it. "Best rallygame out there", not sure where you get this from, cause Dirt Rally 2.0 is better in many aspects, especially when it comes to driving physics.

I just got this game on XBOXOne and I have to say it sucks all around; the frame rate sucks even in the opening turntable showcase, and the graphics look early 2000's, the cars drive as if they have no weight at all especially when you lightly brush something and get flung like an empty beer can, menus ask if your sure want to exit for no apparent reason and I'm actually astounded at how uninspired the driving feel is at least from an onboard view. A Shame because the game is loaded with content and features. I swear I had more fun driving WRC in 2002. For console players Dirt 2.0 is far and away the better driving game. I feel like WRC 10 is just crapped out unrefined fodder for the sake of releasing something, kinda like they didnt get to finish with it, at least on XBOX 1, that is.

Racing games should always be at 60fps, no exceptions.
Ugly graphics on PC, same bugs from the previous part such as animation problems. Regardless of the graphics settings, the game always stutters and hiccup. I was hoping that they would repair these rugs but I made a mistake, it's a pity.
Lol reviewers just never play these racing games in first person mode - especially these realistic ones where you would benefit the most in terms of immersion. Idk maybe that's just me 🥊🕹🎮

DO NOT BUY THIS ON PS5, YOUR GAME WILL ALWAYS CRASH AND THE SAVE DATA WILL CORRUPT AND GET DELETED WHEN YOU PROGRESS FROM WRC2 TO WRC.

Yes, Dirt Rally 2 is graphically superior. But playing this on PS5 with haptics is where its at (unless you're rich and have one of those simulator rigs at home).
@@WesMordine I play on LogitechG29 and feels awesome, few tracks already in top 5 on dash camera. With most of the track flat out You dont pay attention to graphics.

I can't think of anything worse than having to rest team members or decide which upgrade gets developed by the R&D department. That sounds like absolute hell to me. I'm a driver, not an engineer, and I want to be going sideways through a forest, not sitting at a desk in an office building.

I find it ridiculous that a game with such minor upgrades compared to WRC 9 is allowed to be it's own game, they only thing they added is a game mode, some new liveries, slight adjustments to handling and damage, the driver lineup (which is nothing more than a few upgrades photos.
This game should have been an expansion or upgrade for WRC 9, not a stand-alone, FiFA does this too and I find it appalling. This game is not worth a full price, (tops $10).
