Overall I love this game, especially the diversity of the stages. I forgive the graphics that others may complain about since the driving experience is great and that is what Im after. One thing I wish they would do though, since rally games are mostly racing against yourself and trying to top your best times, SHOW ME HOW I DID RELATIVE TO MY BEST TIME for the car class and stage. You can compare your times in quick play mode but I wish these times transferred across modes and were easy to see. If I crush a stage in season mode I want to see if I beat my current best time to date.
This is a really great review, thank you. I like how you provided all the relevant information without repeating yourself once. I also like your objectivity. I think this is the best of all the WRC 10 reviews I have seen so far. Well done!
It's pretty good, almost platinumed it lol got the standard version 6 days early from a preorder. Noticed a severe drop in frame rate once and constant screen tearing, still playable though.
I have 30 hours into the game now. What do I have to do to get the Toyota in season mode? I have played through 4 seasons so far and the last one was on 100% difficulty in WRC Spec Ford which I won and I thought for sure a contract offer would come from Toyota after that but not just Hyundai, Ford and a WRC3 option.... what do you have to do to get the Toyota in Season mode?
Very fair review that wasn't preconceived with negativity. Had valid points and still balanced it out well with positives. Good job. I know the game is flawed but this doesn't take away from the potential of being one of the best rally expierences some one can feel. Just got to take a chance and dismiss comparisons. Over 24 hours of gameplay and I easily would ask WRC10 to marry me if that wasn't weird 😅🤣😜
I’m also glad Tom threw that one in the review…. I’m currently rewatching WRC 2005 and Gigi Galli was incredible throughout! So many standout performances. - John
Nicely put together review! I'd have liked to hear a few more of the cars' engine raw audio to judge for myself. From the bits you showed it's certainly a big improvement over WRC 9 and the awful WRC 10 demo/preview. Would love to hear how the Group B Audi sounds for example.
@@shodancat1000 Yes, it's an improvement over WRC9, which was shockingly bad. Does this mean it's good enough? No. It still sounds rather artificial. It's nowhere near as good compared to DR2.0, a game critically aclaimed for its engine and exhaust audio. Personally, I think the amateur modders behind the new audio for RBR did a better job with the same tool (FMOD). However, those guys didn't have the luxury of spending hours recording the actual cars using twelve microphones like the developers behind WRC10 were able to do.
I would say yes. The WRC games have improved a lot recently, and even though this one is a little rough around the edges, it is still a fundamentally impressive driving and gaming experience! I'd say those who played WRC 8 or 9 might feel a little underwhelmed at times, as a lot of the content is recycled. That won't be a problem for you! - John
@@TraxionGG Thank you. I know some people criticize the physics a bit too, but I'm not looking for a total sim as I play with a gamepad. Probably picking it up!
hey if I didn't get the deluxe edition can I still get the Evo as a £3 extra or something, and how do you get the Impreza. It just seems really weird that you can only get Impreza on Playstation or XBox One. And I thought the Evo was a standard purchase so I already bought the base version of the game.
@@TraxionGG Thanks mate. I drove McRae's Subaru in Finland and it was crazy. I did 4:11 at Pihlajakoski Reversed if you want to try and beat it ;) I also did 58 seconds at Tartu in Makinen Mitsubishi.
Great review really well thought out. I have WRC 9 & enjoyed it thinking about purchasing WRC 10 on PS5 as it's currently on sale. Is it worth it at the reduced price if you already own WRC 9 ? Thanks.
Is it due to this video that the game is so smooth or maybe your pc is so good? My WRC10 stutters and jerks just like WRC9 did. It's a pity because I love rally games and therefore I don't play because of that.
In my experience a weak CPU causes stuttering in the WRC games (7, 8 and 9). My laptop for example can't run them smoothly even though I can play Forza Horizon 4 at 60fps... my gaming PC on the otherhand can handle them no problem.

I liked the older versions, that worked fine with a keyboard. When driving games become good for Steering Wheel they usually become impossible with a keyboard and then sales drop.
Runs great on my RTX 3060 in my laptop. Smooth as silk. I am using way outdated drivers from last March (461's) so outside the car there are a couple graphics glitches and a warning every time I start the game. I race in cockpit view so that doesn't impact me. ROG Zephyrus G14, Ryzen 9 5900HS 16GB ram. The only reason I'm running old drivers is for compatibility with Quest 2 headset, Mark needs to get his head out of his butt and whitelist the 30 series cards for the Quest 2.
I see the price has dropped on Xbox and I'm considering it. I would like to know if the car feels as shitty as in WRC9, it's like driving in soap with no sense of actual road contact
Nice review...but....you need to mention the lack of VR support. Developers making racing games without VR are just behind the times and are not serious about simulation. This is the reason I did not buy 8,9 and now 10 but I keep buying Dirt Rally, every time
I think the VR fad is what it is: a niche section of gaming. Most people don't seem that interested in it. Part of enjoying a niche is recognizing you won't have as many entries as the mainstream. As you said, you still have Dirt Rally.
@@waltlock8805 I dont expect ubisoft for example to make every entry in VR, but the official WRC game really should. Most if not all serious racing games and flight simulators do as they recognize that sim users, a more mature part of the gaming community, spend the money on this kind of thing
The engine for the game is barely multithreaded, I tore my hair up with 9 trying to figure why it stuttered, it's because it uses 1 core and little else. From what I've seen, biggest reason to buy is the new stages, it's the best point of these games, really good stages.
