It might seem like an insignificant thing to some people but I think its annoying when things like this don't work in the car, and for such an easy fix I reckon its worth the time spent.
@Larry Larry well that sounds like a healthy and happy relationship right there! While you are destroying your chance at a happy future with her and trust why don't you stick her phone into the freezer for 10 minutes while she's sleeping then take it out and blow on it. That will show you what numbers or patterns she uses to unlock her phone. Those spots will fog differently. Know how I know? The love of my life did stuff like that to me until our relationship fell apart. Don't hack your girls IG or phones. Trust each other and you will be happier.
I just did something similar to m 97 LHS. The driver's armrest (with cupholder) would drop all the way down to the bench seat, whereas the passenger side stopped in the proper horizontal position. I was able to go to a pick-n-pull and grab a cloth-covered armrest for just a few dollars. I brought it home and cut off the fabric and foam to see how the assembly was designed. I then used some thin shim tools to unlock the cupholder mechanism from my leather armrest, remove all the staples holding the leather in, and degloved the leather from the broken armrest core. I then re-gloved the leather over the new core and foam padding and stapled down the flaps like before. Finally, I snapped the cupholder into the socket and BOOM. I am SO glad I got that fixed, it was driving me crazy! BTW, I'm near KCK, so if you find cars listed at my local pick-n-pulls and you want someone to visually verify certain parts are there so you don't have to waste a trip, hit me up.
Blades, I see you commented about a Montana cup holder to replace the Saturn sky holder. The sky holder is a poor design. Can you tell me how the Montana one is designed. I'd like to see if it works for my Saturn
JR, if you check out mustie1 he does a great job of showing what is going on when he is rebuilding components similar to this. I love your content but the repair sessions could use some different camera angles.
Thats cos for years we had Mtn Dew that was just disgusting, and not caffeinated. The new 'energised' is more what they have in the US, its not bad. Still love to slam a Solo ofc
Great video, BUT, as I see this mechanism work I see the stresses in areas that make it break. I have a new arm and wont put it in as I know it will jam again. It is a poor design for something that is used many times and fast. Good luck with yours. Im redesigning one.
Pot metal? Malicious slander! That metal arm may have been inexpertly laminated in cheap plastic that split and jammed the works, but the reinforcing metal was the highest quality beryllium-copper alloy. Strange that Saturn used such an expensive and toxic metal for this cup holder. Beryllium is a rare element in the universe, usually occurring as a product of the spallation of larger atomic nuclei that have collided with cosmic rays. Within the cores of stars beryllium is depleted as it is fused into heavier elements. In structural applications, the combination of high flexural rigidity, thermal stability, thermal conductivity and low density (1.85 times that of water) make beryllium metal a desirable aerospace material for aircraft components, missiles, spacecraft, and satellites. Because of its low density and atomic mass, beryllium is relatively transparent to X-rays and other forms of ionizing radiation; therefore, it is the most common window material for X-ray equipment and components of particle detectors. The high thermal conductivities of beryllium and beryllium oxide have led to their use in thermal management applications. Beryllium is also toxic and Its toxicity is exacerbated by the fact that the body has no means to control beryllium levels, and once inside the body the beryllium cannot be removed. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beryllium
Thanks for the video. But the video is as as good as what you can see. As nice of a guy you are I think people are not interested in looking at you but rather interested in the how to part of the video. Personally I think your videos would be better if you actually had a closer look at what your doing and not 3-4 feet away but rather 1-2 feet away. I hope you don’t take the wrong way but if your goal is to help people out, help them out by actually seeing what your doing up close then when your done you can be the celebrity and have the camera on you. Thanks for the video. FYI those cup holders can cost $200 so be gentle with them guys. I found a replacement for my Solstice at the hunk yard for $10
I raced here soon as i got notification that the cupholder was jammed- i cant imagine anything more devastating or horrendous!!! P.S. MY screwdriver comes with 10,000 bits all in the handle- just sayin'...lol
WatchJRGo hey bro I have a quick question I’m in the market to buy a beautiful car the sky but the question lol is is it a descent car and also are parts easy to find since it’s discontinued???? Reliable ect ect
My Saturn sky 2008 is overheating because the fan dont turn on and I have a message in the dashboard saying coolant low even its completely full. Any helps please
don't bother, the math on the design is incorrect. By a new holder from Santana products. It will never fail. Even if you fix the OEM one you may break it again.
I kind of like your videos...but there is no close ups on what you are working on..the video is mainly focus on you and what you are working on...you handsome but i also want to learn
Huh! I thought you'd go for something a little more sophisticated, like those plastic cup holders that fit in the window tract. Why you put a bottle of water in, forget the cap is off & givin' everything is made outta cheap plastic (& thin) if you grab the bottle too tite you give yourself a free face wash. Or at least wash the inside of your, passenger, window. Available at a truck stop near you. 🆒🆒🆒

Well this sucks! Being a Sky Redline owner I have really enjoyed your Sky repair videos. Thanks!
If you want an update Gabe did the trans and diff fluid since he bought it. Super smooth and quiet now! 😎
As an owner of an 07 Sky, I LOVED the content! Amazing job!
Just sad to now see it leave! :'(
Shaun Chaudoin : don’t worry, it didn’t go far😉

Also...THIS is the work bench that will show up in the potential new shop I am guessing?
It is 🍻
Yes the bpd is important glad you fixed it
It seems like it should be time to get back onto the DEERE Crawler !!!
When mine broke I replaced it with a solid aluminum Montana cup holder. But thanks. This is a very good video.

Pla is pretty strong. Easy to use. Shouldnt have any issues with it.
I used a printed speedometer gear on in a th350 transmission with no problem
These kinds of repairs are awesome!
Hell yeah brother! Let 'er rip! Full pull!
Always! 🇺🇸
Love your video but couldnt see anything you were doing on the cup holder. Love your channel keep up the good work.

I think it was just this camera guy was way too far out, not the norm
Got any Doritos to go with that Mtn Dew?
Cool car indeed
Surprised Hoovie didn't jump on your Sky. He seems to really really like them
I like these series that you do. Cool content
Awww man. I really liked the Sky....
So did I, trying to simplify a bit so every video isn’t of a different car/tractor. 🍻

Suspiciously skillful with the lube😲
🤔🤔🤔

Time to upgrade from a volt to a Fisker Karma... they are cheap enough nowadays
That would be awesome also love your videos joeys cleaning lady

I never use mine in my 2008 Redline. Hate the plastic will not hold large drink. Or anything over an ounce.

Is the new car an SR-T? Ha
regarding love on the corner, Its the geometry there that makes it break. Again poor design
the reason it breaks is the design is wrong. The numbers don't work on the radius. Poor engineering.
