Installing the Santana Aluminum Cup Holder in my Saturn Sky.

- In this video I replace the crappy plastic side cup holder that seems to always end up breaking. I use the Santana aluminum cup holder and it looks and works great. Problem solved.

Man I love the idea of replacing the cupholder with a metal one, but starting at $160? Geeez that's nuts for such a tiny amount of product!!
Amen! Should have cost $50 at most!
Well if you look at what USED oem plastic cup holders are selling for($125-$199), I think the $160 is more than fair for a metal CUSTOM replacement. Would I like it for $75? Yes, but it’s a supply and demand thing, he’ll probably sell a few here and there vs making something for a Miata or 350Z where the numbers are huge.
Just saw your car go up for sale and immediately recognized it. No idea we lived in the same area! Hope the next project is something else sweet! Appreciate all the videos and advice, your effort will live on in my Sky.

Been there...done that. Mine broke once, I fixed it, then it broke again. No need to worry about that anymore.
I just cast a replacement to the stock plastic one out of aluminum. It doesn't close or open particularly great, but its stronger than my 3D printed ones and much better than the stock one (especially considering when i got mine used the part had already left this plane of existence).
Im not sure if you will ever see this, but do you happen to have any pictures of the offending part?

Heyyy Mike! Great to see that you are still making videos. I bought sky sweatshirt and tee from you way back, pre-covid. That’s how long i’ve been watching you/rvideos. Anyway, happy to see you are still preaching the good word! My Sky (redline, stock everything) is running like a baby. Original cupholder, not broke yet, cos i am super gentle with it. This metal one is a great idea, and it looks quality, like it looks like part of the car too. Keep preaching man! 🫡
@mike HELP my kappa won’t turn over it all started with the battery symbol popping up, and then the car just died. No check engine lights no lights at all. No codes at all. Replace the battery after we tried to charge the old, one with nothing happening, except the same thing so then we saw white smoke coming every time we tried to start the car so we replace the starter yet still doing the same thing is acting like it starting, but it doesn’t want to turn completely over.

Hi Mike, i have a problem in my Basic Sky 2009. Its an electrical problem somewhere. It started like a year ago where my battery dies if i leave my car parked for 3 days, then went to 2 days and 1 day, then at the end battery dies after 1 hour if i leave my car's engine off. I placed new battery and same problem after couple weeks. Placed a new battery again and same samething, im getting sick of jump starting my battery. I took it to electrical shop, they checked all fuses and everything is fine, they told me i must leave my car for at least 2 days in their shop so they figure out where is the leak problem, but i wasnt able to leave my car because i have only one car that i use for work. Do you know where the problem would be at?

Hi Mike, Watched your video of fixing the broken cup holder, but could NOT push the back end in, as you showed. I am afraid of pushing harder, and since I have an auto trans, fear that I will just lose the whole mechanism. Any suggestions. Thanks.
Can you pull the cup holder back to the original position? If so, you may be able to open the holder and use a butter knife to push down on the little tabs (shown around 3:10) to be able to slide it out. The directions that came with the new cup holder shows this.

I've heard of Santana cupholders but $150 is kinda steep and I've always thought they were a scam/not legit
Yeah, but it has a lifetime guarantee and I was told it cost the same as a new OEM one (if you can find one).

Mike, I'm going to have to replace my cup holder also, but its not the reason I'm messaging you. I need help with my antenna, It was broken when I purchased the car last week 12/19/23 (for my birthday). The antenna is broken off and I have a new one but I can't get the base off, I'm scared i'm going to break something. Any help is appreciated.
