    I just feel that the innovation of the Creami is what gives the machine it’s point. Like no other ice cream maker on the market.We all know that a blender can make ice cream, especially Vitamix blenders. But the new technology to take a block of ice and turn into ice cream is a real knock out and why I didn’t hesitate to get me a Creami the minute I found out about it.
    In fact, I never jumped so fast to buy something in my life. And been going bonkers with it ever since. It’s a stand alone machine and looks like a coffee machine in design. And can get it in colors and with extra cups from QVC which is really cool. I have a Vitamix and love it, but I’m madly in love with the Creami. The best invention Ninja came out with so far.
    And those are some great demos you showed! I’ll try the ice cube method when I’m fed up waiting for the ninja cups to freeze and want some ice cream much sooner.

      @BlendingWithHenry  2 года назад +9

      Thank you! Very good feedback. One thing though, the shaved ice method wasn't a Ninja innovation. That's the method used to make our most beloved snow cones at amusement parks. That method was first introduced in the early 1900's.

      I do not understand. How does the fact that it can make ice cream from a frozen block important? Other than for the novelty, I have no idea how this matters at all as compared to going the ice cube trays + Vitamix route. Surely the end product is what's desired, not the process by which it gets there, right?

    • @richardgray8593
      @richardgray8593 2 года назад +2

      @@gmansplit It's a unique gadget. That seems to be the appeal as far as I can tell. To me, it's a ridiculous Rube-Goldberg-type contraption.

    • @Lovesickdangerboy
      @Lovesickdangerboy Год назад +9

      @@gmansplit although you can get similar results, the Creami is actually a low cost version of a $6,5000 PacoJet that commercial kitchens use. The benefit with this is that you get less air mixed in to the ice cream, resulting in a more flavorful product, with the downside of it melting slightly faster compared to churned ice cream due to the lack of extra air. It also requires no manual attention or focus. It’s set a button and walk away.

  • @jtlbb2
    @jtlbb2 2 года назад +18

    There is one advantage to the Creami. And that is it’s easy to use. The Vitamix isn’t as easy as you can easily overblend. It also requires you to have the correct ratio of ingredients which often isn’t easy to figure out. And for some people with physical limitations, tampering frozen ingredients can be a real challenge.
    With the Creami, the work is all automated. And I have to say I’ve been using my Vitamix for nearly 8 years now. And even I still mess up making frozen desserts sometimes.

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  2 года назад +9

      The Creami isn't automated. It requires the user to create the recipe with the proper ingredient amounts and it needs to be mixed either in a blender or a mixing bowl. Then the user has to freeze the jars of the mixture for 24hrs. The only thing the Creami does automatically is shave the ice cream block after you choose a preset. Much of the work is done by the user.

      What? You saw him put in the exact same measured frozen ingredients in each except for the milkshake which can accomodate ANYTHING without a recipe. So, no. Tampering is a valid point.

    I have both Vitamix and Ninja Creami Deluxe. Personally I like using the Vitamix for mixing ingredients and making smoothies every morning but rather use the Ninja Creami to make ice cream and soft drink for the convince. Anyone who is trying to decide to buy only one device I strongly recommend getting the Vitamix over any other mixer including Ninja Professional Plus which use as as a food processor only now for it truly makes smoothies the best specially the high end model but the model in this video is also great if you have a budget.

This Vitamix one is something I could take camping and I may buy one eventually. I have never had much luck making ice cream in the Vitamix but I will try the ice cube method you suggested. I love gadgets so I own the Vitamix 7500 with 3 different carafes, one big and small blending carafe, and the pulverizing/flour-making carafe. I have made ice cream with it for a decade. When I saw the Ninja Creami I had to have it too. I got a good Black Friday price for mine at Kohl's with a rebate and coupons for about $150. Okay, the Ninja is exactly as you described it after one spin making ice cream. It's powdery but still melts, but it needs two additional respins to get fantastically creamy ice cream without ice crystals. So, you should always respin twice for a total of 3 spins for the Creami-est ice cream. 😁
    I have not made a sorbet yet, but I intend to soon and I will respin as many times as necessary to get the smoothest consistency possible to avoid undue ice crystals. My target? A sweet cherry sorbet with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It reminds me of childhood and a Good Humor Creamsicle I used to get from the 'ice cream boy' and his pushcart with those jangling bells on it and filled with foggy dry ice and boxes of heavenly delights!

    I love Ninja products and I have to admit ninjas have taken over my kitchen lol. I have an Aspire 3500 which is the most versatile Vitamix on the market as of this writing. My issue with a creamy is I have a feeling the mixture will just get frozen into place or end up with ice crystals as mentioned and I end up having to re-spin it two or three times which is a pain. That non-grounded cord is a bit of an issue and slightly concerning

    Am I missing something regarding the Creami? You only did one respin on each of the examples and said the Creami still had some ice crystals and then compared them to the VitaMix examples. I read that it is normal to do up to TWO additional respins to remove ice crystals. I'm not sure your comparisons were performed fairly. (Note: I love VitaMix and I have one. My Creami is arriving Thursday so I haven't been able to put it to the test.)
    Thank you for the tip with the ice cube trays. I am going to try that! Also, thank you for your videos!

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  2 года назад +6

      Hi Terry. There's nothing in the instruction manual that shows that multiple re-spins are required. Please notice that the video was 100% fair. Notice that I even stated that the Vitamix ONE's ice cream was a bit softer in texture (although much creamier than the Ninja) but I did not put it in the freezer to give the Vitamix an advantage, I dipped it right after I blended it, so it wouldn't be fair to the Vitamix comparison if I did multiple re-spins to get the Ninja "perfect". Also if multiple re-spins are necessary than that's more trouble than it's worth for a product that is dedicated to making frozen treats. People buying the Ninja Creami want it to do most of the work on it's own. Thanks for watching.

    • @jsobrino
      @jsobrino Год назад +1

      the amount of respins needed is completely dependent on the temperature of the ice cream base when putting it into the creami. if you leave your base out for a few mins before putting it in the creami, or if you calibrate your freezer to not go too low in temp, then you can get a perfect texture on the initial spin.

    WHERE have you been all these years and I never saw your videos!? I'm gonna be here all afternoon bingewatching your channel. Fantastic. And it doesn't hurt that I share your opinions haha. I'm guessing adding more fat might help mitigate that Ninja texture but not sure. Perhaps add some DRY milk/mylk. But of course, for flavor, if youre not introducing more ice, your flavor is going to be better. Unless you have a house full of kids without the fussy palate but THEN you know you can't prepare for their demands unless you have many many frozen containers in advance and even THEN, what "I'm in the mood for" changes! I DO think the PRESETS help cooks who may not be as experienced or willling/able to mess around with a Vitamix which they say now they have a "slushie" and other novelty settings. And the Ninja is less cleaning I guess My older Vitamix 6500 had the frozen desserts settings (and soup and smoothie) which I often forgot to use but they're great.

    I own the Ninja Creami and love it. I use my own recipes since I am an old school. I love custard based ice creams. I had as issue with the crumbling at first. I just add a teaspoon of rum or vodka before spinning and it solves the problem. Since I don't have any little ones at home its all good. I also purchased extra bowls so that I could have several different flavors on stand by. I own other makers like the Cuisinart ICE-100 (which has a compressor) and the Kitchenmaid Ice Cream Maker attachment. However am using the Ninja Creami at least once a week. It was a great investment. Also I usually freeze my batter in my deep freezer (not recommended) for just 8 hours instead of my regular freezer for 24.

      the crumbly texture is completely dependent on the temperature of the ice cream base when frozen. the colder it is, the more respins it will need, while the closer it is to zero C (32 F), the better the texture will be on the first spin. Adding the vodka/rum to your recipe changes the freezing point of the mixture which is what helps give it a smoother texture. alternatively, leaving it out at room temp or freezing it for shorter periods would also help

    Hello, I just so happened to come across your video after researching the food ninja machine. My question is that I have an older model Vitamix. I have a recipe guide where I can make ice cream sorbet and all of that stuff with out freezing it over night. Would my machine be able to these as well?
    Thanks

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  2 года назад

      Any ice cream recipes that don't require freezing the mixture would either require ice (which I never recommend for ice cream) or the use of frozen fruit. Otherwise Vitamix machines are not capable of freezing liquid mixtures.

      @@BlendingWithHenry I can make the same ice cream like the food ninja & freeze it & put it into the vitamix. My machine can also do nut butters as well. I have put frozen fruit into it & it works great. I have the pasta & beyond machine attachment to make sorbet. It is awesome.

    I guess I’m confused what the difference is in VitamixOne and other Vitamix blenders. Don’t the other vitamixs do the same thing the vitamix one does and more? Is the vitamix one for those that don’t already have a vitamix blender, but wants an icecream maker only?

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  2 года назад +2

      The Vitamix ONE is a value-based machine. As mentioned in the video it's priced at $249.95 and when one special it's $199.95. For some who want Vitamix quality but don't need hot soups or the other things I mentioned that it's not capable of it's a perfect machine.

      Yes, you absolutely may. You can create any type of fruit, dairy-based or dairy-free ingredients and create ice cubes in the freezer to make frozen desserts in the Vitamix. There's really no limit to how you make frozen desserts.

I've gotten used to my mind. but he was having a hard time with the noise and the ice-cream looked awful.

    hi henry, imma great fan of ur vids! ✌😎🍹
    and i was wondering if u could do a review on the vitamix quiet one blender?
    on that note i had the following questions...
    1. does it come with a tamper?
    2. do other vitamix containers fit on this device, like the 64oz and 32oz container?
    3. is it really that silent compared to other vitamix blenders?
    4. how does the the vitamix quiet one compare to the blendtec pro 800?
    5. what are ur thoughts on the control knobs opposed to the traditional control switches?
    but i can expect u'll be giving an honest and objective opinion right?
    and not just sugarcoating everything just because it's a vitamix blender?
    having said that i do find the vitamix to be the best blender out there...
    hope hearing from u!

      Then you're not understanding the point of the video. I'm comparing products of similar cost to achieve the same recipe type. This is for someone who is considering the purchase a Vitamix to make frozen desserts but then they run into the advertisement for the Ninja. If a person already has a Vitamix then great. This video will help them to see they don't need to purchase gimmick ice cream machines since they can already accomplish this with their Vitamix.

      Absolutely! Your A3500 is the king for just about everything. A couple of tips for you in regards to the ice cream ice cubes. Not only are they ready to eat as popsicles right from the ice cube tray (provided you put sticks in them before they freeze) but you can make a lot of those ice cream ice cubes, remove them from the ice cube trays and place them in bags, then take out what you need to make ice cream in your Vitamix. I would recommend to vacuum seal those bags so your ice cubes don't get freezer burn. That's something that can't be done with the Creami.

But when I saw how the ice cream had to be made and then frozen for 24 hours my exact thought was it was just doing the final blending. Why not use the Vitamix? This was an excellent and fair evaluation of both machines. When you said the Ninja was over-engineered when describing the bowl placement, I thought you were being picky. But as you described the different product options (gelato, light ice cream, ice cream, etc, re-spin), I 100% agree. All those options seemed more like power levels and rather than say low, medium, high... they use those names. The Ninja is really over-engineered and they don't seem to care about user experience - it's all about bells & whistles.

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  2 года назад

      Thank you for awesome feedback. I really appreciate it. The connection of the bowl could've been an easy slide in/slide out with a near foolproof design. If you check out other Creami videos you will notice each reviewer has the same trouble connecting the bowl easily. 😊🙏🏾

      While I definitely get that Ninja wanted to try a different approach the Shaved Ice design has always been for Snow Cone machines which makes more sense. Attempting to do the same thing with ice cream gives mixed results.

    • @rbroberts61
      @rbroberts61 2 года назад +1

      Its really not fiddly at all. Its like any appliance, one you use it once you can do it blind folded. I think fiddly is having to make cubes then stand over a blender for 5 mins pressing the ingredients into the blade. It takes about the same anount of time in the Ninja because it really needs a couple of respins but its effortless. Gotta admit, the Ninja does sound like a 747 is landing in your kitchen though!

    They are totally different machines that do totally different things. I have the Vitamix 3500 Accent with the stainless steel container which will make frozen deserts well especially in that stainless container that keeps the contents much colder. I also just bought the Creami which is the equivalent of a Pacojet which is a dessert machine restaurants have been using for decades and paying thousands for a machine as well. Comparing these two machines is like saying would you rather have a boat or a car. A car might be more useful but a boat is a lot of fun. I would rather see a video showing how to use both a Vitamix and a Creami to make frozen desserts.

    • @BlendingWithHenry
      @BlendingWithHenry  2 месяца назад +1

      I don't know what video you looked at but it certainly wasn't mine. I did not compare an A3500 to a Creami. I compared a similarly priced Vitamix which was the lowest of the line with nearly zero features compared to other Vitamix machines.

    • @BlendingWithHenry

      Understandable. One thing to keep in mind is consumers who buy dedicated home appliances (such as blenders, ice cream makers, etc) tend to want to avoid store-bought foods like ice cream and the like in order to make healthier alternatives at an overall lower cost out of pocket, plus they will know exactly what ingredients they put in it. Can you honestly say that you know exactly what Bryers Ice Cream has in it?

      Hi Prudie, yes from some of the comments saying the price for the Creami is too high perhaps Shark/Ninja should made it so that this machine could mix it's own ingredients and dispense them into the cups for freezing. That may help justify the price. Always great to see you! ❤️
