My niece is allergic to wheat, so cookies & cream ice cream eludes her, but Oreos make a really nice gluten-free cookie now. She could use this to make GF cookies & cream treat.
Only so much in the quality part. Quality takes a bit of a dive when you freeze the mixture solid before mixing. This will always produce a less smooth ice cream than a traditional ice cream maker.
@@allwoundup3574 you’re dedicating an awful lot of time telling us how much you don’t like this company, is there a story behind that you want to share that makes your multiple comments up and down this video comments section seem more credible?
@@allwoundup3574 I've only personally used two or three Ninja brand products, but they've all worked pretty well. And just about every review of every other one backs up that assertion. The burden of proof is kind of on your end here, buddy.
Seems to work well and the cleanup seems simple enough. I'm tempted to buy one, but I'm pretty sure it would be packed away in the cupboard after a couple of weeks of using it.
What a stupid way to make ice cream. Use one that has a freezer bowl or a compressor if you want to make ice cream. I have an Andrew James machine and it works well.
Agreed. After the novelty of it wears off to the grandkids I see it sitting next to the panini (sp)?maker, cotton-candy maker, shaved-ice/ sno-cone machine and all the other gadgets taking up space in our sideboard.
@@Competitive_Antagonist Totally agree, and i use a simple blender, to make smoothies. Just use frozen Mango, Dragon fruit, a little bit of almond milk and ice 🧊 . And it sounded like a small power boat lol
Im diabetic and i make low carbohydrate CHOCOLATE 'NICE" CREAM in my Deluxe Creami (24 oz container) . 2 bottles chocolate FAIRLIFE protein high shake (60 grams protein, 6 carbs) 1/2 or a little more cup cottage cheese, 1 t vanilla. Freeze 24 hours and process. High protein low carb NICE cream!
I'm sure by now someone else has mentioned this. The reason that some things came out crumbly is because your freezer is set to a very low temperature. Remix is the way to fix it, but you could also bump the temperature in the freezer up a bit.
@@andralynsimmons3789 My first batches were crumbly because the only available flat surface I had was the chest freezer which made the mixtures too cold. I experimented with only keeping the pints in for about 10-12 hours and that fixed my problem. The texture was great! I LOVE this machine.
I LOVE mine. I add coconut oil and or butter and Keto Chow and I run it through about four times on the ice cream setting then do a respin. It is so incredibly creamy. This is a wonderful appliance. Some times you need to remove the lid with the blade and rinse it in hot water between cycles. The noise doesn't bother me. The reward is worth it.
EXACTLY! Everyone gets to have their own flavor that they like. A pint yielded 4 single scoop of cone. Loving this Ninja Creami Ofttimes, you buy gallon and not everyone wants that flavor, with Ninja no problem.
This would be great for people who are lactose intolerant or aren't able to find healthy alternatives to some of their favorite flavors. They can test out their own recipes using almond milk, lactose free milk, stevia instead of sugar, etc etc. There is almost no healthy choices on the market with that same ice creamy taste and the few that do exist are super expensive.
YES I didnt even think of that . What a good way to manage a diet while still eating what you want. Until I read your comment I was thinking what a expensive way to have frozen treats but that comment justifies it all for sure even with out a restricted diet this is a good thing if you got the room.
I myself am allergic to milk, so I can definitely relate to this, but I'm not sure I'm willing to pay this much, plus ingredients when I can buy a really good vegan ice cream like So Delicious for 4 bucks and change.
I have realized how much I trust you to give honest reviews. I don’t think I trust anyone else on here completely to give real reviews on everything they review, but I do believe you. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your videos. On a side note this would have been a great time to test earplugs 😂
If you have folks in your family with allergies (especially anaphylactic ones or ones that trigger a severe immune response), being able to make these things at home and knowing all the ingredients that are included can be wonderful. It's more than just a novelty. I made my dad homemade ice cream all the time but only used ingredients that he wasn't allergic to. Amazing quality and totally safe without triggering an immune response. Highly recommend a few (affordable, based on your lifestyle) gadgets like this so you can do the same for loved ones and guests.
Yes everything that's made at home is better because you know what's in it. That's why people recommend making things yourself. People however are lazy and refuse to. Hence why so many businesses are successful.
I know it's not in the instructions, but I feel like I'd want to scrape the edges of the container down so the mixing blades could get to it after the initial mix. Then put it back on and remix it to get those edges mixed with the rest of the container. If you look at it after the initial mix, it looks like it's not getting all the way out to the outside parts. Just my own preference I suppose. Otherwise, that thing looks awesome and you made everything you mixed sound amazing. Thanks for the review, James!
I love my Creami! I bought 4 additional pints so I can make a big batch and have one every day for a week if I'd like. I freeze my keto meal replacement shake and just eat the ice cream as one of my meals. Re-spin is your friend.
And then you wait for 24h... Get a normal icecream maker it will take about an hour and you have icecream. These have been here for years and years and I don't get why this is all if a sudden such a brilliant machine. A bit too many "influencers" are getting them for free I guess.
The cup takes up less room in the freezer than the freeze-bowl type. I have one and it is loud so I stroll out of my tiny kitchen while it works. The others I have seen, one is Whynter or something like that, are too big for my kitchen and more expensive. The freeze-a-bowl ones need more space and you can't scrape all the ice cream out because you cannot use metal and maybe pierce the bowl and plastic will not work. Maybe a wooden utensil?
Explanation about the noise: It needs to crush what is harder than frozen water, which is a very difficult task for a small kitchen machine. They do it through a gearbox after a really really hard-working motor, which spins extremely fast It is many times faster than the usual blender or mixer you have. The great box reduces the spread but delivers a very high torque, which is the key feature here. Yes, integrating noise isolation is possible, but for sure this caused increased price in a way that no one would pay for it. We advise you to put it in an insulation box of foam or wood. Never use it very near to you. With time this could cause big damage to your ears.
This is essentially a consumer version of the Swiss-made Pacojet system, used in many upscale kitchens (e.g., Heston Blumenthal's restaurants). The Junior model runs to over $4,000. If the CREAMi's performance is anywhere near the Pacojet's, it would appear to be a bargain. I would surmise that the CREAMi could also--like the Pacojet--turn out excellent creamed vegetable soups, farces (stuffings), and savory mousses.
Ohh, I wanted to mention the Pacojet! Being a professional tool it retains the versatility the consumer version lost, such as making portions out of a large container instead of blitzing the entire small container. Nevertheless, the Creami brings a high standard culinary process into the home kitchen and that's BEAUTIFUL. P.S.: For those who complain about the noise, remember that this is a POWER TOOL. You're literally turning rock hard ice into powder... What were you expecting?
My partner saw your video and ordered one against my request. We have the top of the line Breville ice cream maker which we use only occasionally. We gave the Creami a try with the chocolate recipe with addition of toasted hazelnuts and the vanilla gelato substituting basil for the vanilla while heating up the cream. We were both blown away with how great both turned out. I think we’ll be using this more than the Breville. We have three containers sitting in the freezer ready to process. Regarding the noise you mentioned I was prepared for a sense that I was inside a jet engine so the moderately loud hum was a relief. It’s really not so loud and it is for a pretty short time.
You mean your significant other. "Partners" are for businesses, which relationships should not be. Don't be pretentious. You should know you're equal without labeling them with the same label as someone you work with.
DARN IT😡! I just saw this gadget on TV and instantly wanted it. I halfway hoped it wouldn't work as shown, so I wouldn't continue to want one😑. But, oh no! It works great...and I really, really want one now! Your reviews are great. Always thorough and fair👍.
If you're really into ice cream, especially unique flavors, I think this is great. However I don't like the noise or having to wait 24 hours. I am much more into instant gratification 😆😆😆 As always a fun, interesting video!
I’ve made homemade ice cream, and I can tell you it does take on average overnight to 24 hours to make ice cream. I make the ice cream base, and that has to chill in the fridge for at least 12 hours up to 24 hours, it’s a laborious process but the end results are worth it, and far better than what you get in the grocery store.
I have this machine and bought extra containers. So now when I make the base I can make 7 at a time and vary the flavors. I use yogurt, milk and protein powder for the base. Makes fantastic icecream.
This machine is selling for $170. For $200, you can get and ice cream machine with a built-in freezer, so you can start turning immediately, without freezing your base first. (You can get better results by starting with a colder base, but it’s not absolutely necessary.)
I think the point is that you get to control the ingredients (great if you are allergic to anything) and you can always buy more pints and make these in bulk. I could go to McDonald's and buy a cheeseburger for $1 for instant gratification or I can go through the effort of cooking a fresh one, same concept.

My daughter and I are lactose intolerant, vegan, and she has celiac disease, along with many food allergies. We loved this review. I realized I don’t want the Ninja after seeing your review. Thank you. Your review made me realize I needed to spend a little more to buy the Cuisinart ice cream/ sorbet maker. It has a built in freezer. We buy expensive plant based ice cream, so this should pay for itself pretty quickly. Maybe you can do a review of the Cuisinart ICE-100 Compressor Ice Cream and Gelato Maker, 1-1/2-Quart. I bought this on Amazon. We hope you, your kids, Bailey, and everyone here has a very Happy Holiday season. Terri and Natalie in Florida ❤️🌸🎄🎁
We got the Cuisinart as a gift and it's the only ice cream maker that's seen regular use. That freezer bowl is a game changer and unlike this Creami, you can chuck anything in it to make sorbets and things.
What do you use instead of heavy cream? I'm also lactose intolerant and I'm sitting here thinking it would be great but I'm not sure what to substitute for the cream.
I was on the fence about buying one. After your video, I am buying one right now and maybe some more containers if available. I wish you had went over the cleaning of it. I've heard the lid is difficult to really get clean. Thx for the review. You helped Ninja sell another product to me with the first being the Ninja Slushie machine.
Just picked one up for summer iceee snacks :) In my kitchen it's no louder than my blender. May be louder in kitchens with less sound dampening qualities (ie, stainless steel kitchens vs. wood cupboards or bigger kitchens). It says to use the juice of pineapple for example instead of water because it's not a 'blender'. It wont like being asked to shave and incrporate ice. You can use frozen fruit though. Just read easy directions and you'll have a blast with cool snacks for the hot days. Half a pint at a time is fine for me and our family so i make up bases and put them in the freezer (bought extra 2-pk of the pint containers with lids) cause we like diff kinds of ice cream. I LOVE it and very easy to clean. :)
@@jessicawhitfield5674 I freeze EVERYTHING in the containers beforehand and usually end up sending it through the process twice cause I like that kind of creamy texture. 😋
I literally used mine for the first time as I watched this review. I made the banana sorbet and mixed in Nilla wafers. YUMMMMM! I’m shocked that it works this well. It was a gift but a great gift. Love it. Next up-vanilla and light chocolate ice cream.
Another excellent video from you. I appreciate the time that you take to actually test the items that you review. You tell it how it is, and don't hold back if you don't like the item. I look forward to your next review. Take care.
I’ve had a Breville ice cream machine for a few years now and I absolutely love it. I saw this one advertised and thought it looked interesting. Thanks for the video!
Appreciated that you added the elapsed time it took for the thing to do it's thing! :-) It is incredibly loud, but so tempting. Thanks for the great, in-depth review!
Fantastic video. I just ordered mine and can't wait for it to arrive. Some videos say if it is crumbly add a bit of milk or fruit juice, etc. And all Ninja products are horribly loud. :) I would put those strawberries (or other fruit) into a mini processor to mash them up first. I am anxious to see if it will work with Nutpods as all or part of the heavy cream. UPDATE: Wow! Just wow! I absolutely love this machine; how did I ever get along without it? I use it a lot to make sorbets out of nothing but fresh fruit or berries, pureed and frozen. The Creami makes the best ice cream and frozen treats I have ever eaten, and so easy to use!
I've been subscribed for over a year now and I love to see how your video quality has improved over time. The editing and pacing in this video has to be one of your best. Great content, can't wait to see more.
Thank You for taking the time to create and share this wonderfully informational and helpful video with us all ❤️. I have absolutely everything GOOD to say about this appliance. Sooooooo happy to be able to not ever, ever! have to by "ice" and "rock salt" for my traditional ice cream maker anymore!!!! Definitely worth purchasing for us ice cream lovers❤️.
About 13 years ago when I was still working in the kitchen, we had this device called PacoJet, that was doing exactly what this thing does: It let you easily create sorbet and iceream by freezing the ingredients and ten using the blade to shave the mix into something fluffy. Those things were all the rage back then and really expensive (7000.- CHF upwards) but sooooo great. Now you can have them at home for a lower privce That's actually tempting... I guess it isn't as powerfull as the professional version, but for some ice at home? Hell yeah! éittöe Side note: I think your freezer might be just set to low for proper Ice cream, that's why it's crumbly so often. but overal, I'm impressed. The receipes are garbages though from my point of view. All that vanilla extract and corn sirup nonsense... I mean sure, you get it to taste like store bought one, but is that really the goal? I'd rather work with simple ingredients, take a bit longer to prep them properly and don't use the shortcuts. But for the average user, that's not a trained chef, I think the receipes are quite clever and almost guarantee success.
@@AirLancer it's both. The less sweet something is, the more you can put into the ice cream and get the same flavor. But the sugar would then be more volume, which prevents ice crystals relatively. Hence, softer ice cream.
Not surprised. Ninja always works. Maybe you don't need the product. And maybe you pay just over what you think you should. But it works. It always does exactly what it says it will do. One of the few brands that have my trust.
@@allwoundup3574 You're not wrong about some of their stuff. But as I said, they will do what they claim they will do, even if you don't use it. But also they also have thier coffee makers, blenders, and several other devices that are daily driver worthy, not just gimmicky.
Ninja appears to be a popular yet mostly garbage brand. A good indicator is the amount of "new" products you find at thrift stores or garage sales. Shark is another "new" brand that you find easily. These are products that are less than five years old yet they populate these stores and for a reason. I can find Kenmore Oreck Hoover vacs and they're mostly older models that probably function fine still right next to five new sharks that kind of work. You can also get a feel for what items are typical graveyard machines. George foreman grills air fryers crockpots etc. I would advise people try these products via second hand first so you aren't out of pocket much. They usually have the instructions maybe even the box still.
Most ice cream makers have either a built in freezing unit or use a container with saline solution that you freeze, or ones that use rock salt to bring down the temp, but I've never seen one where you need to freeze the actual ingredients ahead of time, seems like a weird way to go.
The freezing time isn't a big deal. You can prep the ingredients and have them in the freezer until needed. Once used prep another batch of the same flavor. Keep. A few flavors in rotation.
I got one as a bday gift yesterday and have my first pint in the freezer. I think that the small batches is a plus for those with self control issues around ice cream lol.
I have a Creami. It is easy to use and I like that you can't make a huge amount all at once because it means I don't have a lot of left overs begging me to eat it. It is noisy but the noise doesn't last long. The recipes are easy and taste good. I would recommend the machine.
I've had the Creami for about a month. I love it! I do Keto, so I can make Keto friendly ice cream that is delicious. I control what's in it. I love that I can eat some, then smooth out the top and put it back in the freezer. When I want to have it again, I take it out of the freezer and do a respin, and it's perfect! It is loud, but I think it needs that power to get through the rock hard frozen mix. I heard one person compare it to a drill press. That seemed pretty accurate.
@@missMediaChick yes it does. this is just 1 example but there are others out there: 4 tbsp powdered monk fruit sweetener or to taste 1/2 tsp xanthan gum 1 tbsp mct oil or refined coconut oil 3/4 cup heavy cream 1 cup almond milk or 225ml water + 25ml heavy cream 1 tbsp cream cheese (optional, but adds creaminess) 1/2 tsp - 1 tsp vanilla extract
that was one of the most professional review's i've seen. not a big icecream fan and not even interested in buying it but im prolly' going to recomend it
Great review, just missing a Gelato demo and a showing of the cleanup/washing process for the unit (like does the blade come off for easier washing?). Otherwise, wife and I just bought this on a whim at Costco yesterday, and this review makes me glad we did!
This is a fantastic video review for this machine! It has everything I wanted to see. Also the way you presented every information in a detailed way is all I was looking for. Thank you!
Reminds me of these frozen fruit things they used to have at the gas station I lived by. You put a frozen cup of fruit and juice in the machine it ground it all up into a frozen yogurt consistency was awesome. This looks just like it with the pineapple. Sadly it was super expensive and they only had for a year or so
It's actually a combination of a blender and a mixer with the unique feature that the blades move down the container while spinning at varying rates of speed. The reason one may get "crumbly" texture is because ice particles in the substance frozen are still large, relatively speaking. A remix would attempt to reduce their size to a more palatable "creaminess". In the case of frozen fruit, one should expect this and it may take 2-4 remixes to reduce the size. Always use smaller pieces of fruit if you cut it yourself. Use a flat bottom coffee mug to push down the bananas. The chocolate milkshake you made is what Wendys calls a Frosty. I'd suggest a little more milk to make it still creamy and not so thick. Also adding 2-3 tablespoons of malt makes it taste like a 1950s era malt shop shake.
What I like about this review is that you dont try to be "funny" or "entertaining," your personality just kind of...carries the review? I dont mean this in a negative way, its a pretty big positive.
Thank you for the genuine review, I absolutely love ninja products, they are expensive but worth purchasing and they do last long time if you look after them properly - definitely buying this as i love ice-cream but are lactose intolerance so now i can use other alternatives - i did have another ice creamer but it wasn’t good.
Or…the machine housing could be insulated to reduce noise…which would increase the width more! Remember this machine is drilling and whipping solid ice! Of course it would make noise. Think about it! My only experience with Ninja was 2 x 1100 watt blenders. I used each one 4-5 times a day and exactly the 2 year mark…it died. So, I bought another…and again…the unit died at the two year mark. But if you calculate the number of days in 2 years x 5 uses a day…the machine was a work horse! Total over 3,600 times used. I want a creami….to turn my Bulletproof coffee into an ice cream. My over $700.00 professional built in condenser ice cream maker would not be able to turn water into (wine) no…. Ice cream! It seems this one can! Yes, I am sold! Gladys, Toronto🇨🇦
I bought their single-basket 8 qt air fryer. It's very finicky at the start-you have to revamp all of your cooking times and temps-but it is incredible when you finally figure it out. It massively cuts down on the cooking time, and is very easy to clean up after.
I just bought one of these on a Costco sale. Great review and thanks for the walk-through and “how-to” video. First step, shop for ingredients. Thanks for the great review.
I love your review. I may eventually get one of these. I'm kind of a kitchen "mad scientist". So years ago, I took to freezing almost any thing, fruit, cream cheese, peanut butter, and then (yes after 24 hours) I would put it in my Ninja blender with a can of cold condensed milk and "Voila!" Ice cream. Thank you for sharing this, up until now, all I had heard about this unit is that it sounded like have a jetliner in the house.
This would only be worth it, in my opinion, if youre searching for the ability to make low cal halo top style ice cream you can customize. If it's regular ice cream im sure there are better options but if youre living a healthier lifestyle and want a way to make protein ice cream for a snack or whatever this sounds awesome
This reminds me of when I was at the grocery store and they were giving free samples of banana ice cream made with an ice cream maker they were selling, and I can remember it was AMAZING! But it really is entertaining to see how shockingly well this works, apart from the noise.
I love mine especially since I’m now low carb. The cons for me is as you pointed out is the loudness but I just leave the room and come back when it’s done. I also don’t like when it comes out crumbly which I think happens with lite ingredients like almond or coconut milk. Other than that it helps me stick with my low carb lifestyle.
Thanks for doing such a great job and being easy and pleasant to watch. No comedy, no theatrics......just the task at hand....well done. Even though this is quite loud, it seems it's worth having! Thanks again.

It is really easy. I have made fruit sorbets only froze the fruit for 12-14 hours. It was fine. You needed to respin your vanilla ice cream. ***I added almond milk to my pineapple chunks and a little swerve. It made a "Dole Whip!"
I bought a regular Ninja blender set and it is pretty loud, but it's kinda hard to imagine how they'd make them quieter with how high powered they are.
This looks like a great product, and I love the idea of being able to control what I put in. I don't see the container size as a problem - seems plenty enough for a healthy diet.
I remember my first Ninja blender in 2010. It was the best blender I ever had. From what I saw is there are areas that need to be cleaned a lot or else they get moldy. Though if you are cleaning it after each time you are done making ice cream it shouldn't be a problem. I also saw that you need to freeze the pints before using it.
Hey James. Thank for making this video. I recently got a Ninja Creami and yours was one of the videos that helped me out. I freakin' LOVE this toy. Love it. Hope you and your family are have a great summer. Cheers, Ivy.
He spoke about it several videos back, sounds more like a bachelor pad apartment, he still has his house. For some unknown reason, I am uncomfortable watching him in the new place, seems like he's doing something on the down low. Just sayin,...
He explained a few videos back that he rented the place because his house has 4 people living in it and it's just too hard to film around everyone's schedule.
Decent review. I'd be curious to know what happens if you hit the wrong button by mistake? I didn't see an off feature if you hit the wrong one. Could you hit the correct button and it'd switch over? Also, I wondered how the receipes would work with substitutions (such as sugar alternatives or sugar free options, and vegan replacements for some of the ingredients.) I know you're not vegan, but that would have been an interesting thing to add to the review. I hope to see this in an update in a few months and maybe you can fill us in on some creative (and vegan if you do decide to play around with that) recipies you come up with on your own. And maybe see if we could make doggy ice cream in it! Bailey would be all wags! As always, keep up the great work!
I just bought one of these from Amazon supposedly used and labeled just like new. I made lite ice cream both chocolate and vanilla and yes, it was crumbly. I also used home made almond milk instead of the oat milk and honey instead of agave nectar. Good to know about respinning. The best part is I only paid $65 for it.
Wish I had one of these when my daughter was little, as she was allergic to eggs, dairy, corn syrup and many other ingredients. It would have been great to be able to make treats for her
I got a ninja blender years ago, I used pudding mix and ice with lot's of different fruits no overnight freeze.lots of trial and error however.lots of work some great results.
I was thinking if you could buy more of the cups you could pre-mix up to a weeks worth of treats ahead of time to take out of the freezer as you wish. Pre-mixed should keep in the freezer for quite some time. Or you could just freeze and 24 hrs later blend up a few of them then store the redi made ice cream in the freezer in them. Or you could just use the two you get with the machine and keep dumping them into a gallon ice cream pail to keep a huge amount in the freezer. I wonder if doing up a bunch of batches (one after the other) would be hard on the motor? Another thought, if your freezer isn't set too cold like the extra-hard, solid ice setting of the freezer in the vid, it would be easier on the Ninja Creami, probably extending its life and as a bonus, frozen food frozen not so solid/hard, may not take as long to process into ice cream/sorbet/smoothie, etc. either.
idk, i've ran whole frozen cherries, blueberries and banana chunks in mine.. it survived fine. crushed the skins and seeds so small, they were almost non existent. it shakes a bit, but it works fine. also, I don't wait 24hrs. no where near. I think I waited about 8 hours or less. and both the pints I made came out perfect. Also, an easy way to combat crumble texture, add a little liquid after the first cycle. It'll come out perfect after a respin. Another respin, even creamier and fluffier.
Everyone has their price. Some guys can be had with a Porsche. Some, with a Stihl chainsaw. I have the feeling James can be had for a bowl of really good ice cream.
YESS, YESS, IT WORKS! The machine runs for 90 'seconds.' For any who are thinking this can be replaced with just a machine that does ONLY ice cream, look again at how many things it can do. Also, they give 3 containers. You have to freeze for 24 hours but you have 3 different flavors. So, you save time with this machine if you want different flavors. Suggestion: READ the instruction booklet to get the best results.
I ORDERED a Ninja Bleander back in 2014, it also came with food processor the main one and small one for making fresh salsa, guacamole home made peanut butter. it came with three cook recipes cook books on QVC home shopping net work. after that I ordered the Ninja ice-cream book in 2015 .love it, just like what you just made, they even have my mom's favorite ice cream peach 🍑. They even had indorsir the guy that introduced it on the show when I call in to order it. even when the slow cooker came out I went to Walmart too.
@@tune_smith yes so gross! Sucking, leaning head back, biting at the spoon and letting drop back into the bowl disgusting!! Never would get past first dinner date with this guy!
Great review, I love that you tried so many recipes to test it properly. I noticed with the fruit sorbets that the edges of the container seemed completely untouched after mixing. Was this an issue? How much was left unmixed at the edges and corners?
I noticed that as well. I think because it was frozen solid. Probably works better if it's not solid as a brick of ice, because like they said, it's a mixer, not a blender, so going through a rock-hard chunk of ice I would think eventually would either burn out the motor or leave whole pieces like we saw on this video.
In order for it to scrape the sides the blades would have to touch them, which isn't gonna work overall. From what I could tell it looked like it was a miniscule layer that was around the edge just to make sure the blades don't scratch up the containers over time. I would imagine you could scrape it down and remix it to get it fully integrated if you wanted to though.
@@RyuRaeArashi from what I've seen, it didn't look that miniscule, that's why I was asking the question. Same on the bottom. Good point about scraping and remixing, although it's extra work and time.
As much as I love Ninja products ( just got the Foodi model 701 last weekend and LOVE it) this looks like a lot of money and work for something I can just run to Culver's and get. Although I think it's wonderful for those who have dietary restrictions. Thanks for another honest review.
The point of an ice cram machine is to freeze the product while crating the smallest sized ice crystals as possible. This is what results in a smooth and creamy feeling on the tongue. It seems like this product just takes the frozen ingredients and “blends” it up to reduce the size of the ice crystals. This can probably be done in something like a vitamix or blendtec which is powerful enough to blend ice. The only thing is you would probably need to freeze the ingredients in something like an ice cube tray to not have one large piece of ice.
I use this for my protein shake, I fill it with one fairlife core power protein shake, freeze it for 24 hours and and than put it on icecream mode. It tastes exactly like chocolate or vanilla icecream depending on what flavor you get. Highly recommend I will never go back to regular protein shakes
This looks like a great product but the price is pretty high for what it does. It does not have a compressor or cooling mechanism so you need to pre freeze everything. It doesn't make ice cream in a traditional sense like a normal ice cream maker by slowly creating the ice crystals for a smooth texture. It is definitely something that I would buy in the $100-140 range but not $200. I wouldn't spend 200 dollars buying ice cream from a professional shop over the next 3+ years so to recoup that cost you would need to be making ice cream all the time. You can buy a real ice cream machine with a compressor for near $200, like a Cuisinart ICE-100.
Drinking game: Take a shot every time he says that the machine is loud. You won't make it to the end. ;) Also I'm shocked that it is so loud given that it is named "Ninja"... Nice review and thanks again. :)
Thank you for an honest and thorough review. After the initial ice cream test, I figured out that neither myself nor my cats will be able to tolerate the noise this machine creates. I'm so glad I watched this video first!
The main bonus I see is total control over ingredients and quality
Absolutely, you know exactly what's in your food.
That's a big selling point for me.
Depends on the price, I may just buy this. 👍👍
My niece is allergic to wheat, so cookies & cream ice cream eludes her, but Oreos make a really nice gluten-free cookie now. She could use this to make GF cookies & cream treat.
I would also add portion size.
Only so much in the quality part. Quality takes a bit of a dive when you freeze the mixture solid before mixing. This will always produce a less smooth ice cream than a traditional ice cream maker.
I don’t understand how does this have any more control than a standard ice cream maker
At some point Ninja decided "we are going to become THE kitchen gadget company" and they've been pursuing that goal ever since.
But they take something that works and add in features that don’t and ruin it.
And everything they make is total shit
He's back... In pog form...
Yeah this looks cool, but I'm gonna wait until this thing gets posted on woot for $80 and pick one up then
What a stupid way to make ice cream.
Exactly!
Wow, what a great idea, I'm going to try this as well, thanks!
Actually sounds pretty awesome!!
Great idea that I'll have to try. I make banana nice-cream with/without flavourings in the vita-mix and it's amazing already.
I'm sure by now someone else has mentioned this. The reason that some things came out crumbly is because your freezer is set to a very low temperature. Remix is the way to fix it, but you could also bump the temperature in the freezer up a bit.
Thank you Kevin for that bit of info😘
@@andralynsimmons3789 My first batches were crumbly because the only available flat surface I had was the chest freezer which made the mixtures too cold. I experimented with only keeping the pints in for about 10-12 hours and that fixed my problem. The texture was great! I LOVE this machine.
@@ritabuzby4810 Definitely going to purchase one now. Thank you so much 💚.
Noted, thanks man
Also suppose to let container thaw on counter for about 15 minutes before you blend.
I use mine with Keto Chow too! Best way to make keto ice cream. I run 2 lite ice cream cycles and it seems to be perfect most of the time.
@@Claire.L What fat do you like using? I'm still new at this. I tried using peanut butter as the fat with salted caramel Keto Chow once. Wow! So good.
EXACTLY! Everyone gets to have their own flavor that they like. A pint yielded 4 single scoop of cone. Loving this Ninja Creami
Ofttimes, you buy gallon and not everyone wants that flavor, with Ninja no problem.
Yes I’m lactose intolerant and I think you make a great suggestion. I would love to try this some day
Yes! I agree! :)
Been long time since I’ve eaten ice cream bc of lactose. Would be nice.
I love this channel so much! I have no intention of buying almost any of these products but he's just so good at reviewing that I watch anyways.
I have one, the only option i’ve used is the ice cream one and it might take 1-3 spins to get creamy but it is very good so far
If ever you do decide you need something for your house you know where to go to look for advice
Highly recommend a few (affordable, based on your lifestyle) gadgets like this so you can do the same for loved ones and guests.
also for diabetics!
And vegans! The right gadgets go a long way.
Yes everything that's made at home is better because you know what's in it. That's why people recommend making things yourself. People however are lazy and refuse to. Hence why so many businesses are successful.
@@ISoloYouRelax do you realize these gadgets are sold by a business to, right? 😂
@@jaytraveller what do you usually make that are diabetic friendly?
I know it's not in the instructions, but I feel like I'd want to scrape the edges of the container down so the mixing blades could get to it after the initial mix. Then put it back on and remix it to get those edges mixed with the rest of the container. If you look at it after the initial mix, it looks like it's not getting all the way out to the outside parts. Just my own preference I suppose. Otherwise, that thing looks awesome and you made everything you mixed sound amazing. Thanks for the review, James!
I noticed that, especially, with the Mango one
Bought one last month and I love it. I make no sugar sorbets all the time. I can’t imagine buying ice cream from the store again.

Canned, in natural juices.
I bought it one year ago, and used it for a few months. it’s so noisy 🔊
I love my Creami! I bought 4 additional pints so I can make a big batch and have one every day for a week if I'd like. I freeze my keto meal replacement shake and just eat the ice cream as one of my meals. Re-spin is your friend.
Keto chow?
I just got one for Christmas and plan on a lot of Keto Chow!
Maybe its just me, but that "heavy cream" you added looked an awful lot like sour cream. Ive never seen heavy cream that thick before.
It's the extra think heavy cream😂

And then you wait for 24h...
Get a normal icecream maker it will take about an hour and you have icecream. These have been here for years and years and I don't get why this is all if a sudden such a brilliant machine.
A bit too many "influencers" are getting them for free I guess.
Yeah you can’t whip up an ice cream in the “heat” of the moment… you can do that with a compressor. Even with a warm mix
@@Flaggyt well, you can't get a chilling ice cream maker for $200.
Explanation about the noise:
It needs to crush what is harder than frozen water, which is a very difficult task for a small kitchen machine.
Stand mixers/Hand-held mixers are noisy, too when making cake batter.
or just buy a real ice cream machine.
that motor won't last. Get the extended warranty, lol
You really think people are going to put this huge thing into a bigger foam box. Haha no
Instead of the insulation they can use ear plugs for their ears(the concert music ones for example that offer noise blocking for higher decibels)
I was thinking of putting it in the garage where the bread maker used to live🤣
Yup this is the poor man's pacojet! Pakotize!! :)
Obviously they scaled back and compromised some things, but I'm amazed anyone is able to make a home/consumer version of the Pacojet.
We did a taste test. Ninja won hands down.
Yup I was thinking the same thing. I had a pack jet too
My partner saw your video and ordered one against my request.
I agree completely with how delicious treats turn out in the Creami. That and my air fryer are my two most valued kitchen appliances
🤣🤣🤣 This kind of gets me on the bubble. Awesome comment
I'm interested absolutely in this machine and I am going to buy it.
This makes better gelato than gelato churner machines? always wanted one
You mean your significant other. "Partners" are for businesses, which relationships should not be. Don't be pretentious. You should know you're equal without labeling them with the same label as someone you work with.
EXTREMELY shocked! I just saw this gadget in the store yesterday and thought no way this works. Thanks for your work, man.
its a copy of the pacojet, a seven thousand dollar machine. I can't wait for other brands to start making their own versions.
I am much more into instant gratification 😆😆😆
As always a fun, interesting video!
Homemade ice cream is totally worth the wait it’s soooo much better
Keep some of your favorite recipes stocked in the freezer.
And Costco actually had it for the same price as everywhere else but it comes with two extra pints!

Sounds like I need to get one
What do you use instead of heavy cream? I'm also lactose intolerant and I'm sitting here thinking it would be great but I'm not sure what to substitute for the cream.
Great for diabetics. Have one and I love it! Create your own recipes without heavy cream, I use almond milk and guave.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR DIABETIC FEEDBACK BECAUSE IM ALSO ONE 😢
Why would you think almond milk would be better for a diabetic than heavy cream?
wouldn't not having sugar be better? Why would less heavy cream be better for diabetics?
is it collecting dust yet? 😂

I found it loud and I'm watching it on my phone.
It’s actually not much louder than a blender using it in person imo
Awesome to hear your experience

The corn syrup would be for texture, not flavor. Also, do you expect people to get real vanilla, which is really expensive?
@@AirLancer it's both. The less sweet something is, the more you can put into the ice cream and get the same flavor. But the sugar would then be more volume, which prevents ice crystals relatively. Hence, softer ice cream.
Not surprised. Ninja always works. Maybe you don't need the product. And maybe you pay just over what you think you should. But it works. It always does exactly what it says it will do. One of the few brands that have my trust.
Ninja makes overpriced garbage for people who like to buy gadgets that they use twice then put them in storage for the next 3 years.
@@allwoundup3574 You're not wrong about some of their stuff. But as I said, they will do what they claim they will do, even if you don't use it. But also they also have thier coffee makers, blenders, and several other devices that are daily driver worthy, not just gimmicky.
@@thisisfalco3289 Nope.
Agreed. Just get an ice cream maker folks.
It really does, the only benefit I can see is that you need less freezer space for this than the bowl, but everything else seems much worse
Ice cream makers incorporate air into the mix as it freezes. This does not, if it did it would double in size.
Especially with the fresh fruit recipes, why would you get fresh fruit only to freeze it?
@@lunavixen015 You can probably just use frozen fruit...
Perfect for when you know you'll want a single serving of ice cream tomorrow
😂
Haha yep
I've had the Creami for about a month. I love it! I do Keto, so I can make Keto friendly ice cream that is delicious. I control what's in it. I love that I can eat some, then smooth out the top and put it back in the freezer. When I want to have it again, I take it out of the freezer and do a respin, and it's perfect! It is loud, but I think it needs that power to get through the rock hard frozen mix. I heard one person compare it to a drill press. That seemed pretty accurate.
TY!
I do Keto also and have had it for 2 months and love it. I've been experimenting with different variations and that alone I find exciting.

Reminds me of these frozen fruit things they used to have at the gas station I lived by. You put a frozen cup of fruit and juice in the machine it ground it all up into a frozen yogurt consistency was awesome. This looks just like it with the pineapple. Sadly it was super expensive and they only had for a year or so
In the real world….it is hard to make any dessert out of pineapple! This was a great demo! I want a creami!

100% that based on other videos. Heavy whipping cream will get it smooth.
Yesss I love this!
What I like about this review is that you dont try to be "funny" or "entertaining," your personality just kind of...carries the review? I dont mean this in a negative way, its a pretty big positive.

Great review. First time I have heard of this machine. Seems like they should include a package of earplugs in the box.

I bought their single-basket 8 qt air fryer. It's very finicky at the start-you have to revamp all of your cooking times and temps-but it is incredible when you finally figure it out. It massively cuts down on the cooking time, and is very easy to clean up after.

This would only be worth it, in my opinion, if youre searching for the ability to make low cal halo top style ice cream you can customize. If it's regular ice cream im sure there are better options but if youre living a healthier lifestyle and want a way to make protein ice cream for a snack or whatever this sounds awesome
I have created my own sugar free flavors and lactose free
Also good for me because I’m celiac and lactose.
100% that based on other videos. Heavy whipping cream will get it smooth.
Thanks for doing such a great job and being easy and pleasant to watch. No comedy, no theatrics......just the task at hand....well done. Even though this is quite loud, it seems it's worth having! Thanks again.
Much appreciate you taking the time to make this video! Helped immensely👍🏾
Talking about the Chocolate Ice Cream: “Mmm, that’s good. Thats really good.”
Me: Yeah I don’t believe you
Freakin’ Reviews: trying to move on talking about something else, “I’m going to have another bite”
Me: Okay now I’m convinced😹
I'm pretty sure that giving someone a Ninja Creamy is a federal crime
When you say it like that, it sounds like an innuendo, lol.
@@BewareTheLilyOfTheValley that's the joke lol... is your username a breaking bad reference? I think I've seen you comment before
@@CadgerChristmasLightShow Not seen much of Breaking Bad but I'm subscribed to this channel so I comment often. The username is just a reference to my birth month flower (lily of the valley for the month of May) and the fact that if ingested (by both, humans and animals), it may prove fatal, lol. Thought the fact that such a cute, unassuming flower being so dangerous was a little interesting.
Serve life in prison, that's a pretty serious offense
It is really easy. I have made fruit sorbets only froze the fruit for 12-14 hours. It was fine.
You needed to respin your vanilla ice cream.
***I added almond milk to my pineapple chunks and a little swerve. It made a "Dole Whip!"
Do you know if I can use water with fruit? He mentions how it can damage the unit which is weird considering he used juice with the pineapple.
I appreciate the honesty about the noise this thing makes.
I bought a regular Ninja blender set and it is pretty loud, but it's kinda hard to imagine how they'd make them quieter with how high powered they are.
I'm not sure if I could do with the loudness even though Ninja makes great kitchen tools. Thanks for the great review!
Just leave the room when you use it I guess... or use hearing protection lol, you would look pretty funny with earmuffs on making your ice cream
I start it and then go in the next room. I think James stayed next to it because he was making the video.
How do people judge something without actually trying it? What's good for Jack might not be good for Jill.
This looks like a great product, and I love the idea of being able to control what I put in. I don't see the container size as a problem - seems plenty enough for a healthy diet.
“Step two: *slowly* mix in the heavy cream and milk”
_Dumps both in_ 😅😅 I laughed out loud and had to rewind it to make sure I heard you correctly.
Alright James you gotta let us know, did you get a new house because that kitchen is FANCY
He think he said in a older videos that he did get a new house.
@@charlieretro was it during a Q&A? I probably missed that info
I was thinking the same thing! I was looking through old videos like I think I would have remembered a new house?!
Decent review. I'd be curious to know what happens if you hit the wrong button by mistake? I didn't see an off feature if you hit the wrong one. Could you hit the correct button and it'd switch over?
Also, I wondered how the receipes would work with substitutions (such as sugar alternatives or sugar free options, and vegan replacements for some of the ingredients.)
I know you're not vegan, but that would have been an interesting thing to add to the review. I hope to see this in an update in a few months and maybe you can fill us in on some creative (and vegan if you do decide to play around with that) recipies you come up with on your own.
And maybe see if we could make doggy ice cream in it! Bailey would be all wags!
As always, keep up the great work!
Thank you. Great video. Just got my new machine, so I can't wait to try it out.
$65 😳 it’s currently selling at £209 here in the UK that’s a huge price difference. Why is everything cheaper buying in the US?
@@THB_M888 The one I bought said that it was used but when I got it it Had never Never been used. and nothing had been opened.
Would you be so kind as to share with me a recipe that you used with pudding mix? :) thank you so much. Sounds delicious if made right
I was thinking if you could buy more of the cups you could pre-mix up to a weeks worth of treats ahead of time to take out of the freezer as you wish. Another thought, if your freezer isn't set too cold like the extra-hard, solid ice setting of the freezer in the vid, it would be easier on the Ninja Creami, probably extending its life and as a bonus, frozen food frozen not so solid/hard, may not take as long to process into ice cream/sorbet/smoothie, etc. either.
You need one bug freezer to hold all them containers, rather use the space to hold meat & other things
@@kinglord5429 - yah, me too. 😊
@@kinglord5429 or just one shelve and do 5 containers worth.
You have the shortest commercials on your channel compared to everyone else. Much appreciated!!!
idk, i've ran whole frozen cherries, blueberries and banana chunks in mine.. it survived fine. crushed the skins and seeds so small, they were almost non existent. it shakes a bit, but it works fine. also, I don't wait 24hrs. no where near. I think I waited about 8 hours or less. and both the pints I made came out perfect. Also, an easy way to combat crumble texture, add a little liquid after the first cycle. It'll come out perfect after a respin. Another respin, even creamier and fluffier.
Never had a problem with a product with the ninja label! 👍 Love them! 🙂
They even had indorsir the guy that introduced it on the show when I call in to order it. even when the slow cooker came out I went to Walmart too.
your reactions to how good things taste makes my heart so happy. 😂💛
James just leveled up savage mode with those big bites of ice cream he took.
Another great review as always 😁
Right? Just watching those bites my brain started to freeze :D
I personally thought the big bites were a turnoff.
I’m sure he would’ve said something if he felt it was an issue. You’d hope the blades get right up to the edge that’s not super hard to do
great question! i was wondering the same thing!
Too much of a hassle and need having special no likely pricey ingredients
Try Bed Bath Beyond. I got mine for $138 using 20% coupon.
@@keeshnyc I got one in clearance at Walmart right after Christmas for $120. Returned the one I had just bought for $150. Lol.
@@Mark-iv7np milk, cream cheese, half and half, sugar.
An affordable consumer sized pacojet. I like it
Drinking game: Take a shot every time he says that the machine is loud. You won't make it to the end. ;) Also I'm shocked that it is so loud given that it is named "Ninja"... Nice review and thanks again. :)
Thanks for a good review of prep and making.
Thank you for an honest and thorough review. After the initial ice cream test, I figured out that neither myself nor my cats will be able to tolerate the noise this machine creates. I'm so glad I watched this video first!
Would've been a perfect opportunity for a 2 in 1 review by seeing if noise muffling headphones work to keep the noise down from the IC maker. lol
