Hi, If you have not already vacuumed the system, please do so. To vacuum the system: 20 inches of vacuum for 15 minutes. If you are holding vacuum, then that is good. If you are not holding vacuum, you have a hole in the return portion of the power steering system and you are pulling in air. This will aerate the fluid making it erratic (and sometimes noisy). Hi Aden, Depending on the vehicle there are a few ways to prevent the engine from starting: Older models you can disconnect the coil (if there is only one coil it’s easy). Newer models (multi coils) you can disconnect the fuel pump fuse/relay, or the inertia switch - on a Ford, or the ignition fuse/relay - if it is easier to access than the fuel pump fuse/relay. Does power steering pump require the engine to run before steering the wheels

How do you "disable the engine from starting"?
