    After attending and meeting a few of the cast at the Cult Classic Convention in Bastrop in February, my interest in the film and this particular location was renewed. I have visited Quick Hill Rd a handful of times before over the years, as you may have seen in previous videos, but I never really knew where every single bit of action that takes place in that iconic finale actually took place.
    Where exactly did the house stand? Where did the Black Maria stop and the truck driver throw the wrench at Leatherface? Where did LF fall and take his own chainsaw to his leg? And finally, why does the road look so much different in the start of LF's chainsaw dance after Sally gets away from Perry, the truck driving savior?
    With the help of footage from other urban explorers who have visited this location in earlier years, I was able to narrow down more exactly where everything happened today in 2022, which we know is becoming harder and harder to determine as the road and it's surroundings continue to change over time and become less and less unrecognizable.
    Living so close to this locale of horror history, this will not be my last video at Quick Hill Rd. I will continue to cover it as much as possible before it is no more, especially since we are approaching 50 years since the film was shot..next summer in 2023.

    I was there on Sunday I’ll be posting the video in part 3 of our trip! My daughter stepped on a 3 inch mesquite thorn near where the house was but she survived

    As you can see in the movie, Leatherface passes 18 wheeler while he is chasing pick up truck driving away, so I'd say Leatherface dance would have been performed in front of 18 wheeler not behind it, somewhere near where you shot your video intro.

      Make it happen brother. Just make it a priority and take the necessary steps to make this trip a reality. It really is true, the saying, “if there’s a will, there’s a way.” Cause we tend to do the things we want to do and not do the things we don’t want, if that makes sense. I truly hope you can make it soon.

      @@AdamWasHere yep this is so true, I'd have to cover all other locations apart from this one also from the movie. Do you know are they all far apart from each other. It's finding out the best place to stay hiring a car. Could I do all the locations in a day or over a few days do you think

    • @AdamWasHere
      @AdamWasHere  2 года назад +1

      @@davefilms345 well the gas station and where the house sits today are the furthest from each other. To put it in perspective, the gas station is an hour east of Quick Hill Rd and the house is an hour west. I’m for that reason, I block them in two days, so for one day, I’m traveling and doing all east side locations and then west the next day. I think it’s possible to see all in one day, but you might have issues getting to them at specific times of day, for example, you want to be at QHR for sunset.

      Honestly the place doesn’t have the feel any more, it’s surrounded by apartments and businesses, such a shame the city of roundrock which was once heavily rural is now a city with lots of buildings. Those farmers who sold the lands probably are somewhere nice relaxing

    12:17 , it depends what season the original scene was filmed on to get the Sun on the same horizon.

    The sad truth is that everything shown in this video no longer exists. They decided to build a giant apartment complex right where this was filmed and TCM was filmed. The original TCM house was located almost exactly where the south east corner of the apartment complex now stands.
    A great piece of Texas film history is now lost to the ages.

    • @masterbait65
      @masterbait65 10 месяцев назад

      Though you're correct in mentioning the apartment complex and albeit how a piece of history is lost to the ages, the original house from 1974 actually still stands after being dismantled and relocated from the site.
      You can find it in kingsland Texas, it's called "Hooper's" after Tobe Hooper and it's a fully functioning restaurant. The gas station also still stands and operates today.
