I'm absolutely loving gt7 right now... I don't know if they fixed the update or I figured it out, but it's an absolute love to drive now... The cars want to be driven the way they are meant too...
Great video, Cas. I'd be all in if i-Racing brought ANY of their series to PS5. Especially NASCAR. Im almost 64, and have quite a few simracing friends (into late 70s and 80s) who just dont have the time or motivation to delve into settings. You hit the nail on the head - recommendations are only as good as that person's PC, mostly. I'm super excited about the possiblity of i-Racing coming to PS, AND with VR!
If iRacing brings NASCAR to PS5 with PSVR2 support, I think a lot of road racers are going to be surprised how much fun it's going to be. That is, as long as they don't dum it down to a full arcade racer.
GT7 in VR is the best OVERALL racing game on the market, including everything on PC. I’ve tried everything with my 4090 & Quest 3. Nothing on the pc market works as well, has the graphical features and the sheer variety of GT7.
I agree. 4090 here with all racing games but I got my ps5 hooked up solely for gt7 vr with cockpit. Don’t even have a tv or monitor plugged into it. It’s under my cockpit.
I agree completely. My whole setup with ps5, psvr2, wheel and chair was 1500. A decent pc is that much alone. Then headsets, wheel, chair, then learning the process to setup pc racing in vr. It's so much compared to console. Fun, but Infinitely more difficult than plug and play.
I shut off the hub on my big screen... I feel the car now... Height is now a major adjustment in the tuning... Just driving cars on gt7 is now a dream...
Ya this is true, I have a monster pc, but when I setup my new rig and wheel first thing I did was upgrade to ps5 pro so I can play right away. Spent too much building the rig already didnt wanna deal with graphics setting and setting up n all that, after all that work, will obviously still go back to pc soon, because it is just the ultimate sandbox with assetto corsa, free roam, canyons, touge & touge battles, league racing n all that, perfect physics and incredible ffb, graphics.
Defiantly agree, I wish I could just plug and play and not have to worry about settings. I love pc gaming, but for vr sim racing I think console would be so much better. I’ve experienced psvr2 on ps5 on gt7 and it looked so much better than what I could get my quest 3 to look on iracing on pc. I assume this is because developers programmed in the right settings and optimizations on gt7 vs having to tinker with settings yourself on pc.
Yeah, with console, the developer can optimize everything for one system, so they are going to deliver the best experience the console can offer. For PC, you basically become the developer and have to test every single setting combo, and even then, you might never find it as there is no promise it will play well on your setup. On PC, it can be great having so many options available to you, but it also can be the biggest negative to it too.
I finally feel the physics post update, I'm in the top 200 TT for race B in the ferrari, a car I could not drive the first week after the update so obviously I'm doing something right and I've got psvr to at Barcelona which is perfect for all those tight turns you can see where you're going which I think is an advantage again it's flat screen players. Logitech DD pro with the upgraded pedals. I'm absolutely loving this game.
Something I find odd, prior to this recent physics changes, driving on screen or PSVR2, the driving inputs were the same difficulty. Now I struggle when on my 55” inch 4k screen noticeably more
You're probably feeling more control of your car while in VR with how the handling is now. Probably would take more time to adjust to it using a flat screen if your not using it regularly would be my guess.
Yes, an iRacing NASCAR PSVR2 release would be a treat. With all of the "flat to VR" tools that are available today the additional effort should be limited. Personally, I'd also like to have them incorporate the controller "tilt control.". I don't have a wheel and don't like to drive with a stick!
Agree that setting up a PC to play VR racing game is not easy, if there is another option for VR racing on console would be great! But setting up the PC is like a one time thing (per game), once pass through that would be fine for months/years at least. Sad to say that I am ditching GT7 online races due to the reckless driving of some drivers and generally no consequences of such behaviour. Penalty system in ACC seems much better and the drivers are much more clean even in a low ranking races. Community server with season races even have incident reporting system, which really helped me a lot to perform safe driving (safe rejoin, giving enough space to others, leave enough gap when qualifying, etc). If iRacing and ACC could support console VR, that would definitely boost their sales. But seems no sign they are doing this…
An alias, like "Wild Bill Hickok" in the Wild West Cowboy times, was a slang nickname. (Eg his real name was "James Butler Hickok") Anti-aliasing is a means of weighting the colour of pixels to help remove the "jaggies" from diagonal lines
Yes, I am aware of what it does, but the question is what are the proper settings to set them at. There are multiple combinations you can do so it becomes this chasing the best quality that never seems to end. Also, since everyone's PC is different, there is no one setting that works best for everyone.
@thecasualracinggamer Yeah. A large part of that problem might be that we're all different and so have different preferences? 😉 But good video, as usual 👍
It will be up to the developers to support the extra power. Will PD do it? I have no clue. Hopefully, we'll hear something soon of their intentions with the future of PSVR2 and GT7.
Nah I spend the last few weeks with GT7 and the psvr2 and it is really fun. But since yesterday I'm playing "flat" again, and it is just as fun to be honest. Okay I'm sitting 2.5 meters from a 120" 4k projector image so that is kind immersive. But now I can actually see the buttons on my dd pro gt wheel, and I have more relevant info on screen. I have the feeling I can drive faster and way more consistent when playing flat. Psvr2 is more fun but after 4 hours the thing on your head gets annoying. Don't get me wrong I love my psvr2 but VR will stay a niche forever.

You're probably just adjusting to the new physics, and once that happens, you start to really enjoy how fun it is to drive.
I've got a PS5 / PSVR2 / Logitech G29 / GT7.... that is as real as I want
👍

I got the PS5, PSVR2 and the PSVR2toPC adapter and while VR on PC is good for AMS2 I find I am still going back to GT7 as it just works better on PS5.
Yup, it works so well!
Man, Im longing to see my brake pressure on psvr2
Seriously. It’s almost like PD have never heard of load cell brakes

If its PSVR2 compatible, I will learn to like NASCAR! No longer remotely interested in flat racing games.
And with iRacing developing it, you know it's going to be good! Of course, only if it has PSVR2 support.
