In the end I decided to park my car at the side of the grid at the start to avoid the turmoil at the 1st chicane, despite qualifying reasonably well. On one occasion I was actually pole, but punted very early on. Anyways, I made a few friends, as you suggested, and left messages to those I saw frequently and knew were fair drivers. On my very last race one of these people and myself were demoted to a lower lobby, albeit still B rank. I started pole, he was second. I led for a lap and a half before taking a chicane poorly, and let him through without fighting. He had bump-drafted me, and so I returned the favour when I could.' Making a pit on lap 7, I stuffed the exit and was penalised 3 sec. He was always faster than me, but lo and behold, on the last lap he waited at the very last corner for me, wanting to gift me a win. I slowed, because he thoroughly deserved it, but we played a little game of "No, you good Sir" for about ten seconds. In the end he parked himself behind me. Because I race in VR I had no delta to see if P3 was about to win, so I had to take the win. What a generous soul. It reaffirmed for me the good sportsmanship that IS around, and tho I didn't deserve the win, it made my day. A good way to end a day's racing :-) You are right: it's not always about DR or SR.
That's a great story, and thanks for sharing. All about having fun, making friends, and if you come in first, second, or last, no one wins anything, so just enjoy it no matter what happens to your DR.
Finally found someone with my mindset lol .. im at B and happy with it, just baught a VR and driving ofline in VR always, will go for dailes definitely with the VR as im enjoying the game much more with it .. and yes im a dad with two kids :) Keep it up with this content, i don't know why i didn't find you earlier. You Definitely come out with the videos I need to hear when I need to hear them. The only person who cares at the end of the day is yourself and None of us is going pro. So as long as you are in the mix whatever the class, it's going to be good racing and you'll get better at actually racing, not just doing lap times. I think safety rating is far more important for better races and racing against people who want real races. Thank you for speaking the truth.
I enjoy Race A this week. I use it more casual: started from the back took some different cars. Basically use it like i use lobbies for - a bit more casual and more emphasizing on training. Dailies in Top Split is the best but i just have to be on my absolute A Game. I I differnetiate between dailies more tournament style and focus and practice in race A this week and lobbies. Love the different level of intensity. You wouldnt do only tournaments in any other sport either. So thats kinda what im replicating. But i wouldnt call myself a casual racer anyway - i really wanna see how far i can push this! Race A currently first time top50. I wonder if this ist the best VR time in the world currently actually 😂 The lap is on my channel as well.
Race A for me, too. I tried a dozen or so Race Cs, and it's Punt Central. Taking Cas's advice, I didn't worry about DR, but despite trying to race cleanly and with an eye on racecraft, it still became a bit tedious. Not just me, but many others in the races were being punted around. I think it's a Monza thing, TBH. I'm gonna spend the rest of the week doing Race A, just for the enjoyment of racing, and trying to improve my racecraft. FWIW, i put in a quali time at Deep Forest that was quicker than Cas, and that never happens for me, lol. He didn't put in many laps, obviously. Oh, I'm a mid-B DR.

I think race A is for the actual casual people, who don't care about their DR rating. The youtube try hards and esport people would spend most of their time in races B and C, so race A provides an opportunity for people to race for fun online against others. Lobbies don't often fill up, can have lag, and can be a nightmare with tuning/no BoP.

For console VR, there is absolutely nothing needed to do for settings. It's just plug and play. Just follow the initial setup for eye tracking and lens distance, and after that, you're good to go.
just create a new account. my try hard main account is A+/S, but my 2nd acct is higher and i race more on it, and i don't care about it. takes away any reluctance to race.
Look, i’m about a quarter bar A+, Wade_CBR., i’ve been subscribed to you since i was a B. I’m not that concerned with Dr at this point, but you’re way off on race A, if you haven’t done a lot of them, you should. The culture is just different over there. A is the cleanest of all dalies, especially in GTs and people not being worried about DR makes them drive truer, force it less. The racing has been absolutely incredible whether i start front or back.
The problem with Daily A with DR off is that it doesn't usually have many people participating in it. I actually like what iRacing does with their rating system. You actually move up in class based on your safety rating. Then, within your class, you compete with drivers around the same IR (DR) rating as you. But you don't move up in class until you achieve a certain safety level within each class.
I totally ignore my driver ratings. I generally only enjoy old cars. Over 90% of the cars in my garage are from the '50's, 60's or 70's. I definitely don't want to drive GR cars or new any new cars and that is all I've seen in those daily races. I only peek at them every once in a while and they are usually on a track I don't want to drive (I prefer the Nordschleife) and in a car I don't care for. I don't know what I'm missing in daily races but I do enjoy winning races in lobbies against higher rated drivers.
Are you doing color correction on your PSVR2 captures? Mine always end up being rather light. I'm guessing it's the hdr thing but can't seem to set it right without post processing.
If you use a capture card on your PC, you won't have to worry about that. Just capture it from your Playstation on your PC directly. If you do a recording on the Playstation and then copy to a USB drive to your PC, you will have the color issue. You can even record it on your Playstation, then play it back on your PC through the capture card and record it like that.

On unrelated note, I also love my tgt2 so it was nice to hear your comparison with t598. I'm not planning to upgrade (well, for now it seems as a downgrade) but it will be interesting seeing what differences might show up once it's officially supported in gt7 Apparently there was a firmware update for the wheel itself since it came out but I guess you did that (needs pc) as soon as you got it. Hopefully the gt7 update for it comes this week.
Yes, I was able to download the software update once I received the wheel from Thrustmaster. So everything was fully updated to the latest. Still loving the T-GT II.
On my main account I'm an A+ driver. On my 2nd account B. But that's because I allways start from the back on this account (just like OberlixVR) 😇 And I must say I have the most fun on my 2nd account. Not the best races, but just fun (and sometimes frustrating😉). Not "worrying" about my DR and position, just enjoying the battles. I know I'm faster than most of the drivers in B lobbies. But I allways drive with respect. I want to pass them in a clean way. No divebombs and pushing. 🤞🏻 This week I only do Daily A. First time I'm doing this. But I don't like Track B and I don't like gr1 cars. And I must say, the racing in A is good overall👍🏻.

i always get hit so hard when i was in rank A, to the point that i loss SR coz they smashed me to the walls all the time... i directly dropped to B because of the constant penalties 😂😂

The other guys in my online lobby, apparently. They were all A and A+. They didn’t want a D driver. So, I can’t get fair racing online the daily races, so I join a league. Then I get shat on BECAUSE I don’t do the dailies. It’s honestly enough to make me quit GT altogether at this point. Maybe GT8 will have smart AI that can truly punish those who punt you off as you are passing them.

You can use the BOP Filter in lobbies 👍
When I set up a lobby, tuning is turned off, and BOP is on. I like when everyone is on the same playing field.

Exactly! When not worrying about ratings, races can be much more fun, which is why you should race with the same attitude on your main account!
