    Hey All! I just want to make sure I'm clear here as I have been using the wheel more. For someone looking to buy a new wheel and get into sim racing, the T598 will be 100% my recommendation. What you get for the price beats anything else near it for console at $500 usd. With the T-GT II being $800 usd for the complete set, the T598 is definitely the better buy here.
    For those who already own the T-GT II, that wheel holds its own. It's strong, it offers good detail and has the transducer, which works great in GT7. The two wheels feel completely different from each other. The T598 is smoother with finer details, while the T-GT II offers a stronger feeling to the wheel. The T598 takes a little getting used to coming from a T-GT II. If you want direct drive, I don't think you will be disappointed with the T598, and it also won't break the bank. If you are happy with your T-GT II, I don't think you need to rush out and buy the T598. Your first thought might be it feels a little weak but you need to give it some time to adapt to the different feeling.
    It's just my opinion and I don't claim to be right or wrong. I respect what everyone else says here as well!
    Also want to add, while the wheel rim is made of a lot of plastic, it actually feels good in hand when racing, and the size is just right too.

    So far loving the T598. Yesterday did the daily race 3 and while doing laps did better than controller. I had a T248 which tbh lacked smoothness. I preferred the T150 to the T248. The T598 was smooth and consistent. Seen other reviews where the wheel was loud but this thing is silent, even the paddles are mildly quiet. Love it

  • @Two49
    @Two49 4 часа назад +4

    For years I used a T300RS and quite liked it - until I started getting really bad FFB fade on longer sessions. The wheel base would overheat and the belt drive system would basically give up.
    I upgraded to the Fanatec GT DD Pro (5 NM) bundle, and immediately noticed the same "lightness" you described when going from the T-GT II to the T598. It seems that the lack of gears/belt/mechanical junk on the shaft of a DD wheel gives it an entirely different texture that can take some serious getting used to.
    I found that by tweaking settings in GT7 and ACC I was able to find a find a happy medium on the DD that allowed me to simulate weight transfer and tire load like I used to feel on the T300RS.

    The moment I heard TM announced this wheel I knew I am going to buy it. DD wheels for PS are so hard to acquire where I live. Fanatec does not sell here, Logitech G Pro is too expensive, Moza is PC only, and the next closest and readily available wheel for PS here is T-GT II and that is also expensive.

    Just got a t598 and only problem coming from T-GT II was how tall this is. Doesn't work where the T-GT II was at all. Had to resort to max seat height and a cargo van type position just to test it out. Will be getting a rig now. Would like to point out that being able to adjust dampening, spring, speed, force, and other things from the base is a huge plus for ps5 users. Being able to fine tune these settings instead of just dealing with gt7's is a game changer and my only complaint with T-GT II. Really looking forward to getting a rig so I can finally find a comfortable sitting position.

    I started off with a g29 i then upgraded to the original TGT wheel at launch back in 2017 and ive never had any issues in the 7 years ive had it !! The tgt was a massive improvement over the g29 very smoothe was so much more realistic especially when i purchased the sparco wrc wheel again being 33cm diameter made a huge difference in realism i then upgaded my pedals to the Tlc load cell pedals and i have to say the set up i have is just so so good having read your review i dont think im all that tempted to replace my tgt with this new T598 ??? if its going to feel " different " and light compared to the TGT then i think i would rather stick to my tgt maybe i might replace with the newer TGT 2 ? as this shud come down massively in price if it doesnt then thrustmaster are sending out signals that the t598 isnt as good as the tgt 2 ? Also i can just purchase the TGT Wheel hub on its own so i may do that and then maybe see what the reviews are next year for the new t598 and maybe just get the t598 hub when they start selling that separately ?? choices choices !!

    I have a t248 and was about to upgrade to a tgt2 plus open wheel add on. But I've ordered the 598, I like the display functionality and the big wheel diameter. It's nearly the same price for the 598 and the tgt base plus open wheel. I hope it was a good decision. I hope it will fit on my playseat challenge, with the t248 it's very comfortable but the 598 with the mounting profile will have a different angle and more height.

    I am going to upgrade to this from a G923. I just read that the G923 only has 2.2Nm of peak torque. I didn't realize it was that little. That can feel quite weighty in the correct car. For example the Bugatti everyone is using in this week's Daily B race. You can tell you are driving a big heavy car. I'm guessing that I'll be happy with the constant 5 Nm, and the peak 10Nm.

    I bought a tgt2, to upgrade from a t300, 2 days before they announced this wheel. Your review of the tgt2 helped me decide originally, glad to know, it might have cost me a little more but it wasn't a mistake, and the tgt2 is still mostly on par with DDs of a similar strength.

    • @kuzeykb
      @kuzeykb 7 часов назад +4

      You’re missing a point, Nm output is not everything. It's how quickly information is communicated to you and how much of the smaller details you can feel. TGT2 is a fine wheel, but DD's can communicate things so much faster and to a much greater extent.

    • @privatemaz
      @privatemaz 7 часов назад

      @@kuzeykb i understand that, i'm not saying the tgt2 is better, just that they're similar enough, that i don't regret my purchase considering the timing. That being said, as a bigger stronger guy, i was over powering my t300 too often, even with pc fan mods to allow me to run it at 100% it was just too weak and was my main reason for upgrading, but detail from t300 maxxed to the tgt2 is still a big step up imo, especially in gt7.

      @kuzeykb Yes, DD wheels can deliver faster information, but it also depends on a drivers skill level and pedal control as well. Also, what people get used to. It's why controller players can also run top times, and so can players on a G29! Having better equipment doesn't just translate to being better.

    Nice Cas, well done.. i love my t-gtii. Only thing my gut feeling is direct drive is more accurate, so in theory this should make you more consistent.. a one off lap the tgtii is as quick as anything, I've just always felt I'm replicating the same lap but have to make tiny adjustments. You'll only no this after doing some qualifications i reckon.. this is £450 uk so base only I'm guessing will be around £350.. that is a head turner if its more accurate 🤔

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  6 часов назад

      As a casual racer, the difference in accuracy probably has less effect on me than someone trying to compete in top splits with top times. I will probably gain more time and consistency with better throttle and brake control over a better wheel. Having said that, at the price, the T598 offers a great option for console players who want to jump to DD. The more I play with it, the more I like it.

      @AndreiSZS 7 часов назад

      @@thecasualracinggamer Just FYI,
      on Fanatec there are 3 settings that are completely from the wheel itself and applied on top of the effects that come from the wheel. Those are: Natural Damper, Natural Friction(might be a better option to solve your problem), Natural Inertia. By using these 3 you can make the wheel feel heavy even w/o any inputs from the game. So, even if the damper doesn't work, there might be something else.

First noticed improvement in corner precision and tight chicanes. I too already have the TLCM so won’t bother with the new pedals now, maybe later once they have the LC upgrade. Still figuring out the settings, although I put the FFB at preset level one on a Gr1 car in Gt7, when I got to top speed the wheel shook violently, had to turn that down 😂

      The G 29 is what I’m still using and it’s the only wheel I’ve ever been able to afford. Since I don’t have anything to compare to it, I love it. I am really curious about this wheel and if you try it and really like it respond to this and let me know how different it is from the g29
