Full disclosure. I’ve owned two LCs in the past three years and chose it because it is a superior GT, delivers a very satisfying driving experience and is a screaming value. It doesn’t disappoint. And the induction sound and exhaust note are completely addictive.
Seriously. You want your GT to be able to take you across entire countries and not breakdown halfway through hours away from the nearest BMW or Mercedes dealership.
This car actually emulates the McLaren SLR over a decade ago with more luxurious amenities than the SLR had. It sounds just as good as the SLR tbh. When the SLR first came out people used to compare it to an Enzo, Ford GT and Carrera GT but that was not the point. The car is a GT to cruise long distances in comfort and have supercar performance on demand. This applies to the LC 500 as well.
@@jmoney7289 Yes a lot of people think it's a Merc but the final assembly is at McLaren. Even seen the chassis plate that says it on the SLR. _McLaren SLR_ is just a shorter way of calling it. ;)

I'm sorry the Aston DB11 isn't as luxurious or detailed as this LC 500. I have checked both out in various comparisons and the Lexus is definitely the winner. The only car i'll say with a better interior is the new 2018 Bentley continental GT but that car is more than double the cost of the LC.
All my grandparents are in thier 70s. How the fuck I'm only one year older than Doug with a 65 year old mother and my parents are in thier early 50s? Haha

Having just bought one of these this past week and experiencing it for the first time yesterday, I have to say I'm wildly impressed with it (and I'm a current Toyota/Lexus owner). The LC500 really is a 'have your cake and eat it too' combination of practical, reliable, and sporty that is hard to achieve. The materials are absolutely sensational, meaning possibly the best I've ever experienced in my life...and worthy of great mention. Although it's not going to top any single category, I agree with Doug that the overall combination of attributes puts it in a very special class. Amazing car and truly impressive engineering!
It’s just a Lexus I don’t understand when they say bullshit like this. Lexus IS such a high quality brand and I’ve owned so many Lexus vehicles. There fit and finish is so good and there attention to detail is remarkable. Why don’t u explain why Mercedes had to purchase a couple Ls400 to figure out why it was so good. It’s just a Lexus my ass. Lexus schools the car world.
I agree. I buy a Lexus because I want a luxury car that is beautiful, easy to live with, and reliable. I don't want a money pit over-engineered European car that is designed to force you into their dealership and is plagued with electrical problems. And of course, a German car fanboy will argue "well if you can afford a Mercedes or BMW, you can afford the repairs." Yeah that's not the point. You think I have nothing better to do with my time to constantly spend it in the dealership because the stupid car can't go 6 months without an issue? No thanks. I am an engineer, and I spend my money on quality. Not on a badge just because FU I need the status symbol.
Juan Zingarello well said ,that’s what Lexus IS all about. Its a luxury car that’s easy to live with and these cars perform so well and the fit and finish is excellent, yes Lexus made some mistakes but what car company hasn’t. Lexus’s goal is to build a luxury car that’s well made and reliable, which is why they don’t dump all that insane Hp. I’ve owned many Lexus vehicles u get just as much attention as you do in a German car and actually sometimes you get even more attention in a Lexus. These cars are also so reliable and drives extraordinary well. The performance that Lexus vehicles give you is nothing to argue with either. These testers seriously need to get there facts straight. I’m pretty sure Lexus can throw a thousand hp in there car if they wanted to but they chose not too. The company chose to put there focus on other things. Hence why they have the best interiors and in my opinion the best quality and looks. They didn’t just focus on power and numbers. When they wanted to prove there point they built the LFA👌

This car isnt really worth a 100k, there are way faster and more exotic cars than this thing. Plus, people will genuinely give more presence to a exotic car manufacturer name, where as this is a Lexus, which to a lot of people already sounds bad. Sure its not a bad car but there are a lot of better cars out there for a 100.000$
Fun fact: The LC comes in a structural blue color. This paint job has absolutely no blue pigmentation in it. You know how when light hits a prism you can see multiple colors? That’s what they did with structural blue. In the paint, they used materials of the blue pigmentation which have no color but not the pigmentation itself. So the car is actually a clear color but because of the way the light hits the car and the material used in the paint, we perceive it as the structural blue.
There is no pigment in the paint, blue or not, or is there? If we widen the interpretation of what a pigment is, only slightly, what Lexus does is create a very special exclusive blue pigment. That is not a criticism of their efforts. I would love to see a Structural Red. "A pigment is a material that changes the color of reflected or transmitted light as the result of wavelength-selective absorption." This is how humans see any and all color, what is absorbed at our eyes. Most if not all insect coloration comes from microscopic structure. This is exactly what happens when the 2 non-blue core components in this finish (aluminum and zinc sulfide) combine in their "pigment" creation process. It's like the ultimate Candy Apple Blue when "painted" on to the car. It can be seen even in very low light levels because it reflects light so well.
Dude this is literally one of my favorite cars because it’s luxurious, fast, sounds amazing, looks incredibly exclusive and classy and not too flamboyant, and also I’ve only seen one twice in my entire life. The rarity of this car makes it so much cooler to me, because like people aren’t gonna immediately understand what it is like they would a Jaguar or a Lamborghini or Ferrari. Like you could park this somewhere to go pickup food and not have twenty photos taken of it
Automakers DID master infotainment interfaces years ago. It was called a volume knob and tuning knob....the HVAC system used a temperature knob and a fan knob. It was amazing. You could change channels, set the climate control and turn up the volume ALL WITHOUT taking your eyes off the road.
Still seems too complicated...whats so hard about a simple control. Lets not overthink the issue. Need to turn the heat up...well we could do voice command (that usually doesn't work), make a menu with prompts on a touchscreen.....orrr use a knob, button or slider. Plus could you imagine having the stereo cranked and yelling to have it turn down?
austinstrunk How would you "have a knob" for everything you can control though? We'd end up with one of those 90s hifi radios with a hundred and one buttons on the dashboard. Cars aren't just fm/am radio and air conditioning anymore, buttons and knobs just aren't enough anymore.
Bruno Hahmann You can associate luxury with build quality. As an example, if something is handmade like higher end cars. The build quality and luxurious characteristics go hand in hand. You can't have shit quality with luxury, well you can but it would just be a shit car all together. You can have good build quality without luxury but it would be worth the money.
Not exactly. I'd say it's more that you need to have a good build quality for a truly luxury product. But you don't need luxury product to have a good build quality, just tight margins on the fabrication process and quality control, the latter which japanese companies invested heavily when bringing their products to the west.

LFA is shit actually its kind of Overrated and it is certainly a failure, atleast some people says it... And i gotta agree with them... Good sounding car ever? It's an uber luxurious GT car ... for 100 grand. GT cars are usually way more expensive than that. That interior is truly special. This isn't a 911 competitor. It is an Aston Martin competitor for way less money.
The Vantage is only 80k more. Not saying its a value deal, but it is a much better drivers car and MUCH better looking. Somehow, this car's design, although not bad looking, doesn't seem to have any emotion or passion to it. When you compare it to a Vantage, it seems like the design was computer generated whereas the Vantage's feels sculpted by hand.
Yeah but the reliability is crap. Lexus is as reliable as Toyota and with the luxury of the other players. It's the perfect car. I wish I had the money for one.
I wonder when Doug will ever get used to how competent Toyota is. They have the LFA. They build racecars. They can build anything and dominate that class of car. Why would this LC 500 surprise him so much?
@@Cryster99 *WASN'T You and Doug are living in the past. You two are stuck in the '90s. Even back then, the SC300 and SC400 existed. And even as of late, they have some hyper-competent cars that car enthusiasts have been aware of. No different than Cadillac that used to only have sleepers like Eldorado, Seville, Deville, etc. That was then. It's been changed for a while now.
They HAD the LFA. Lasted a whopping 1.5yrs and they couldn't afford to make it affordable and accessible to anybody who could afford an entry level or even a mid-level Ferrari or an Audi R8/Lambo Huracan.
ESFitnessSavage lol they’ve always known they’d lose money on the LFA, hence the limited production. They didn’t stop making it because they couldn’t “afford” it. More of a statement than trying to take over the supercar segment, at least IMO.

Just like I’ve been brainwashed into thinking Mercedes-Benz and BMW have terrible reliability lol But seriously, how can anyone look at this car and think ever associate Lexus with BORING? Sure, looks are subjective but damn, this is a stunning car in my opinion.
It find it utterly fascinating that people buy into the branding of "aspirational" brands like Mercedes and BMW and continue to judge cars like Lexus' given their incredible track record of quality and reliability. How many times have you heard people complaining about getting their "high end" european cars repaired for a ridiculous prices. How many BMWs and Mercedes are still driving around with 500k kms on the clock. As someone whos owned cars from all three manufacturers, Lexus is the only brand that never let me down.
same thing happened to me. it was parked away from other cars and i could not stop looking at it. the front, the side, headlights, tail lights...........
That 6/10 for value is pretty biased. So you're saying you would give it an 8 or higher if it had a Mercedes badge on it? C'mon man! Think positive. That badge brags reliability. A Mercedes will start having problems after half a year.
Estevan Rodriguez Just because they came out with a great car doesnt change the fact that they have made some bad mechanical components in other cars. He is just making us aware of that.
Do not understand why you use the name Lexus like it's less than. When I think of Lexus I think of the absolute best car brand in history. That is far fetched but not when you are thinking of the best of both worlds. Reliability and quality.
They literally haven't made one unreliable model in their entire history. The IS250 is probably the least reliable and even those I see with over 200k often
Its almost 2022,if it apeared now as new, everybody would say,how futuristic is this car,but it is 4 year old already this car will stay modern even in 10 years
Why can’t a Lexus cost $100,000+ ???!! LMAO ...”its only a Lexus”....really Doug? Lol. So in your view only Germans can make or have cars that can rightfully cost that much money and command respect? You have one seriously wrong perspective and seem to have no clue what you’re talking about. Lexus can be understood as the Mercedes-Benz equivalent from Japan. While Lexus does not make the kind of sports cars or as many models of true performance based sedans and coupes like Mercedes-Benz, Lexus really is a top notch luxury brand that competes with the big three German brands in the high-end luxury segment. It really is the Mercedes-Benz equivalent from the Japanese automakers (with the other two big Japanese luxury brands being Acura and Infiniti). You need to give this brand a lot more respect that it rightfully deserves.

It's just a Lexus?? What? Lost some respct for your opinion, thats absurd. Lexus is a very well respected luxury brand. Its not a Hyundai, its a LEXUS!! Please.
Don't underestimate Hyundai too much. Genesis is following in the footsteps of Lexus. Granted they are a few steps behind but they certainly seem to be using Lexus model for success as their own like they used Toyotas for Hyundai.
What are you talking about they've been saying it only for the past 2 or 3 years. BMW M, Audi and Mercedes AMG have all switched from N/A V8 to turbo v6 and v8 variants to save on fuel. They made a mistake since petrol prices (although high) did not continue to rise but stabilised. As for emissions.. I won't even go there as this is a stupid reason to ban V8s. Hats of to Lexus for not succumbing to pressure and remaining true to themselves.
Lexus old slogan was, "The relentless pursuit of perfection." I think Lexus achived its goal. It is Perfection! Also, Doug claims it has a rough ride. There are 3 ride sertings. It can ride smooth as butter or the sorty mode like Doug tested it in and ignored the other sertings obviously! The LC500 is the most beautiful car in the market, and probably the best at its price point and class.
People said the same thing when the first LS400 came out in the late 80s and nobody thought a Japanese luxury sedan could never compete with the vaunted names like Mercedes and BMW. They didn't see how Acura blazed the path with the Legend in the mid-80s.

This is what a GT should be. I don't get the trend of hyper-GTs. Big sound, big smooth V8, extremely high quality build.

I would argue it would top interior quality and design in its segment, performance wise maybe not
It’s just a Lexus I don’t understand when they say bullshit like this.
Christopher Sangster , so true
Jack Z that’s awesome man, well appreciated those trucks that you own are superb
Lexus 👌💪 is the best

Kyle Whitney cool
ruclips.net/video/3g246c6Bv58/видео.html i just watched this video that explains what they did by coincidence lmao
What's "structural" about it?
Plus could you imagine having the stereo cranked and yelling to have it turn down?
austinstrunk but it cant do more which the modern infotainment system does.

Hayden Briggs where did you get luxury from, guy is talking about build quality lol

Edis Goldner good thing he doesn't give his wife on the road
Edis Goldner He gave her too low of a Doug score and she left him
hypersmiler yeah I gave her a 4/10 on the weekend score
doug is the kind of guy who buys a great cup holder with a car buit around it
It find it utterly fascinating that people buy into the branding of "aspirational" brands like Mercedes and BMW and continue to judge cars like Lexus' given their incredible track record of quality and reliability. How many times have you heard people complaining about getting their "high end" european cars repaired for a ridiculous prices. How many BMWs and Mercedes are still driving around with 500k kms on the clock. As someone whos owned cars from all three manufacturers, Lexus is the only brand that never let me down.
I saw one of these not too long ago, and my god are they beautiful. I felt a little bit of my soul drift off to heaven as it drove away.
same thing happened to me. it was parked away from other cars and i could not stop looking at it. the front, the side, headlights, tail lights...........
Doug the type of guy to build a car with his own hands and then find quirks in it
Congratulations Lexus as a Mercedes fan I’m impressed. now time to sell some crack to afford this car
You’re admitting you don’t have the intelligence to make money legitimately?
Willie Logan his name and pic suggests it’s not sarcasm.
MB Young Boi I
Vito Anastasio Unless he lives in a predominantly white neighborhood he was joking. Crack played out 20 years ago.
Lmao!!!! Crack game dead homie now go get your ass a job lol
Analog clocks looks elegant and classy Doug, that's why. Fit perfect with a GT.
That 6/10 for value is pretty biased. So you're saying you would give it an 8 or higher if it had a Mercedes badge on it? C'mon man! Think positive. That badge brags reliability. A Mercedes will start having problems after half a year.
PRINTERPAPER Agreed. As a Mercedes fan and owner, this is very comparable in value.
Estevan Rodriguez Lexus does have some reputatipn issues when it comes to thier more high end cars.
Estevan Rodriguez Dont let it. Hes a car guy and hes knows manufacturer reputation
Estevan Rodriguez Just because they came out with a great car doesnt change the fact that they have made some bad mechanical components in other cars. He is just making us aware of that.
2018 mustang GT is 36k, has a 5.0 V8, 460hp, 0-60 in 3.9 seconds.
Holy shit this car is fucking amazing
The Horrible Channel Right? If it had the same doors as the 570s it would be friggin amazing

Arth 16v stfu
the bitch doesnt know how to use a clutch?
The Horrible Channel iu
Do not understand why you use the name Lexus like it's less than. When I think of Lexus I think of the absolute best car brand in history. That is far fetched but not when you are thinking of the best of both worlds. Reliability and quality.
13THPR0PH37 well said
They literally haven't made one unreliable model in their entire history. The IS250 is probably the least reliable and even those I see with over 200k often
What about technology and perfomance?
Agreed! I always thought it was Mercedes-Benz but the true King is Lexus. I will never go back to Mercedes, Jaguar, or Porsche.
because up until very recently lexuses were just rebadged toyotas.
You need to give this brand a lot more respect that it rightfully deserves.
he hates Lexus cause his dad drives a Lexus.
Hashim Iqbal i agree but Acura and infiniti aren’t exactly luxury
This isn't politics this is his review take it easy
Pierce Pickrell where and how did you bring in politics? Did you even read or understand what I wrote lol? Because if you did, you wouldn’t comment what you wrote in reply to me. Try reading a viewer comment before replying to it next time.
not only italians but french too
Doug is the type of the guy who gives his granny's cooking a doug score
BRUUUUH💀
Doug, the kinda guy to diss a Lexus.
When you come here from Daddy Doug's LC500 convertible video and you remember when Doug used to talk a litttttttle bit faster than he does now lol.
Yea Doug it's a LEXUS.
I would take a Lexus over a BMW or Mercedes ANY DAY.
Merc or bmw coupe, you meant
I'd take a Mercedes or BMW then sell it and buy a Lexus and still have extra cash.
You get the same quality, but better reliability.
Michael Gibson lol dumbest comment by far
@@BH-nf5lv Badge snobs
It's just a Lexus?? What? Lost some respct for your opinion, thats absurd. Lexus is a very well respected luxury brand. Its not a Hyundai, its a LEXUS!! Please.
John Tortorello facts
Don't underestimate Hyundai too much. Genesis is following in the footsteps of Lexus. Granted they are a few steps behind but they certainly seem to be using Lexus model for success as their own like they used Toyotas for Hyundai.
@@juanzingarello4005 I agree, Im not knocking the Hyundai as much as I am merely pointing out the prestige of the Lexus.
You said the exact same thing about Hyundai that people are saying about Lexus. GG
@@ItsNotAProblem Hyundai is a fine car I owned one in college, but it is not a Lexus.
"this is gonna be the last v8" as weve been saying for 10 years
Cole Lemmel back in 2008 nobody was saying that...
Lemme just check how many luxury NA V8 cars exist....oh yeah basically just Lexus, and a few other stranglers.
he said last NATURALLY ASPIRATED. that means it has a carburetor and isnt fuel injected
Ayyyy lmao let me pop dis
Lexus old slogan was, "The relentless pursuit of perfection." I think Lexus achived its goal. It is Perfection!
Also, Doug claims it has a rough ride. There are 3 ride sertings. It can ride smooth as butter or the sorty mode like Doug tested it in and ignored the other sertings obviously! The LC500 is the most beautiful car in the market, and probably the best at its price point and class.
5:37 "... the grab handles..." No sir. I do believe the exact technical term is "OH SHIT!!!" handles.

moby gamer 😂
MetaSynForYourSoul : lol 😂
Stolen joke..
Am I the only one kinda weirded out with Doug not starting the vid with a “THIS”?
Nope
People said the same thing when the first LS400 came out in the late 80s and nobody thought a Japanese luxury sedan could never compete with the vaunted names like Mercedes and BMW. They didn't see how Acura blazed the path with the Legend in the mid-80s.
Will 88 quite frankly, I was going to buy a cpo merc s class, I honestly couldn't justify the upgrade when my 2004 ls 430 ul package still competes and still drives like new. Bought a miata for fun and saved the moneh
The car is beautiful, but the biggest selling point of Lexus and Toyota is their reliability and resell value. No other brand comes close in those categories.
