Kate, I don't know who you are but you literally saved TS4 for me. I hated building in TS4 because things can be pretty wonky, so I spent most of my time playing TS3, which I love BTW, because building was very familiar and pretty easy. I started watching RUclips and all the great builds by loads of Simmers but many of them, especially, the "speed builds", give great ideas but no real "tools" for creating anything that aspires to better building. Then I found you - you actually speak to us about what you're doing, how you're doing it and where we can find the objects to make the unique items so many make. It's not just a story about who you think will live in the house but you're taking the time to actually teach a whole slew of us how to be a bit more like you, even if we can't do exactly what you do. My building is better and some things I'm really proud of. I'm actually posting them to the Gallery now....all because of you.

Yeah some genius. He cant even explain correctly how to download it. Thanks to Kate I finally got it to download after trying by twisted mexis instructions which were complete shite.. Going by this guys instructions I would still be without the Mode tool. He forgot to tell us to unzip the files like who forgets that? That guys sucks!!!,

To remind people that they have to unzip their files - to a programmer it would be like reminding them that A comes before B in the alphabet. It’s something they take for granted. It’s not every day they have to give directions to people, so it’s understandable that they might forget something. Twisted Mexi did say, “open the folder” before he said, “put the whole thing in your mods root” - by “open the folder” he meant unzip it, and in the original version of this mod he actually included a note that shows you what to put in your mod root so when you unzip the folder it’s the first thing you see. I’m sorry you had a hard time. I’m sure he didn’t mean to make it hard for people.
I agree I really like him, too - coding/modding seems like his thing, but I can tell he tries really hard to connect with people, make updates and make tutorials. He’s always trying to improve with the feedback he gets on his mods and I appreciate that. He gave me a heart ❤️ too - it always feels good to get a ❤️ from a creator ☺️

Thanks for putting so much work into this with the keyboard overlays and such. Your tutorials are A+. I wish someone would create a mod that allows us to put walls on the half tile. Would that we could angle walls the way you angled those windows!
The rotate feature alone is worth using this mod. As someone how spent thousands, of thousands of hours in Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo and relatively new to Sims, this tool is going to save my life.

Really helpful video! The mods weren't working for me because I didn't have allow script mods enabled. I never noticed that the sims 4 has a separate checkbox for enabling script mods and CC. Thanks for such a thorough tutorial.

I know that there are some objects that don't have multiple axis so can't rotate them in different planes. It's a pity that the windows cannot be placed horizontally but this tool is very useful in some cases
With the toggle group box, does that mean we can create a very detailed build, like a park landscape or something, and then group everything in that build and then move it off lot somewhere in the world and have that detailed park there?! Cause that’s like game changer! You kind of have a CAW tool even though it’s very limited. Like create different assets on a lot and then move it off lot to its proper location (at least to where sims are able to walk to).
I believe that was the original intention behind this mod, moving 'on lot' objects to 'off lot'. I even think the 'O.L.' part of T.O.O.L. Mod actually stands for 'Off Lot'. :-)

Thank you, very helpful. Your builds are incredible by the way. Plus I"ve been learning a lot about building by watching your speed builds so thank you for the help. I always start an empty lot with a vision similar to your builds, and end up with a box or L shaped house with a messed up roof lol. I know this video is about a year old but if you do happen to see my comment I was hoping you could answer a question for me... You know the way the camera moves slowly up or down on its own when you move close to the 2nd or 3rd floor? I'll be trying to click something kinda small or far away but the camera keeps moving, even though I'm not moving it. It drives me insanee! lol. Especially after playing for a few hours. Is there any possible way to fix that? Is there a mod? I have the BBB and TOOL mods so far. I was hoping BBB would have a fix for that but I'm assuming it doesn't. Unless I missed something. I'm not new to Sims but I am new to mods & CC, I just installed BBB & TOOL a few hours ago so if you see this I'd greatly appreciate the help :)
Thank you for this video. It’s very helpful. I’m just learning how to use the mod. One thing I’m having a problem with is the better build/buy do I still need to type in all of the cheats? When I activate the debug I don’t see all the items. And everything has a price associated with it. I’m not sure if I’m doing it correctly or not. I know this video is really old and my comment may never get noticed but any help with this part of the mod is greatly appreciated.
I followed the installing the same but it wont seem to work for me. Ive enabled script mods and everything, but after pulling my game up i noticed it bugged out a bunch, did i miss a step?
i tried installing the tool mod 3 times and it never works for me. it says to open it, hit shift T. but that never does anything. i followed the instructions of unzipping and simply placing in my mods folder. i dont put it in any subfolders from there on. ive tried hitting shift T while holding an object, while not holding an object, in build mode, in live mode, ive tried hitting ctrl T just to see if i was pushing the wrong button and still nothing. :/
This really doesn't work for me. I can't move the camera with the mouse, Shift+T does nothing, the two mods don't work together and completely mess up the game... I'm sure I'm messing up in some way but I was so excited about it
Shift + T works only in build mode. And if you’ve still done that and it still doesn’t work, then you probably didn’t install the other mod, “Better Build Buy”.
Oh you missed the things I don't understand about using the modd itself: i haven't kept this mod because it flags everything as modded. I don't understand the directions of having to keep turning it off (?) so that it doesn't show as modded on the gallery. I also don't understand the live edit and debug menu identifiers (like, I'm used to just searching "debug" and scrolling) but this modnchanges that too be in certain categories?? Tbh if I could just use this build mode tool mod without it changing the debug menu I probably would.
TwistedMexi updated Better BuildBuy, it doesn't get flagged as CC anymore and you don't have to restart the game anymore for organized debug. I'm not sure if it's still early access or public already but you don't have to worry about that anymore 😊
Heya!! Thank you so much for putting this up, I’ve watched a lot of how to’s for this mod but it’s never worked! Quick question for you. I have both the tool mod and the better build mod (or whatever it’s called) but now it’s makes my building search (eg row of couches) pop out like extends its to see everything, how do I change this and go back to normal?
Please some one help 😅 i have dow loaded the zip file dragged the map to the mods folder/map where my other ones are aswell but it doesnt work, yes my mods in options are on. I deleted the file once and did it all over again from the start but it wont work help😶
For some reason when I open the folder it has a note saying I downloaded it wrong ? I have no idea what I'm doing wrong they are very simple instructions and I'm following them exactly as instructed. Is anyone else having this problem?
@@KateEmerald it's the better build that I'm having trouble with it says something along the lines of "if you're seeing this message then you've downloaded wrong." Verry odd

Is this a good alternative to clutter things on counters? I currently use the omsp shelves or sticks but i find those to not work the greatest all the time
Really don't know what ive been doing wrong with unzipping the bbb file, the tool file was fine right from the beginning but the bbb zip file is not going good even i do exacly the same as the tool file, each time i try to fix the bbb map it shows a file with an error in it saying i have to re read it and try again. all old files were deleted before i had a new try.
Hi Kate. I've watched the video several times and still can't get TOOL to work. I wrote down your instructions, followed word for word and still nothing. The TOOL files are definitely in my mods. In game it asks me if I want to proceed with using added mods; I check the tick box. The game settings are set for the mods to be allowed. When I toggle t+shift all I get is a top-down view. Can you help? Thanks in advance
I am so lost. I downloaded it, unzipped, placed in mod folder, enabled script and custom content boxes in game options…. Shift T isn’t bringing anything up for me. I tried trying in testingcheats true and then hitting shift T as well, and still nothing. What am I doing wrong???
hello, kind of a newb question but I've seen speed build and things where they can turn things more precisely like when they turn an object in build mode, a little turn symbol thing pops up without them having to put in numbers and stuff and they can turn it past the basic turn "guidelines", is that part of the T.O.O.L. mod, or is it something else? if anyone knows can they please tell me

I downloaded TOOL only a few days ago and I'm learning a lot every day. Although I saw lots of tutorials some aren't up to date or use the Life Mode Tool which isn't exactly the same... Yours is perfect.

What is the best method for windows? Every time I resize windows and doors, they partly clip into the wall and there’s an open space around them.

shift and T doesnt pull up the thing at all :/ but it works for everything else regarding my sim i just cant move the objects

I always start an empty lot with a vision similar to your builds, and end up with a box or L shaped house with a messed up roof lol.

You know the way the camera moves slowly up or down on its own when you move close to the 2nd or 3rd floor? I'll be trying to click something kinda small or far away but the camera keeps moving, even though I'm not moving it. It drives me insanee! lol. Especially after playing for a few hours.
Is there any possible way to fix that? Is there a mod? I have the BBB and TOOL mods so far. I was hoping BBB would have a fix for that but I'm assuming it doesn't. Unless I missed something.

Thank you for this video. It’s very helpful. I’m just learning how to use the mod. One thing I’m having a problem with is the better build/buy do I still need to type in all of the cheats? When I activate the debug I don’t see all the items. And everything has a price associated with it. I’m not sure if I’m doing it correctly or not. I know this video is really old and my comment may never get noticed but any help with this part of the mod is greatly appreciated.
I followed the installing the same but it wont seem to work for me. Ive enabled script mods and everything, but after pulling my game up i noticed it bugged out a bunch, did i miss a step?
This mod never worked for me 😅 i downloaded it, put the folder on my mod folder and nothing 🥲 i think i'm cursed

is there a function to copy a decorated shelf w all decorations on it? its a hassel to make the same decorates shelf over and over
i tried installing the tool mod 3 times and it never works for me. it says to open it, hit shift T. but that never does anything. i followed the instructions of unzipping and simply placing in my mods folder. i dont put it in any subfolders from there on. ive tried hitting shift T while holding an object, while not holding an object, in build mode, in live mode, ive tried hitting ctrl T just to see if i was pushing the wrong button and still nothing. :/

@@GuilhermeDeus shift T doesn’t work but shift clicking on an object in live mode works fine.
It opens a menu for the tool mod. Also my bad if my comment is illegible my YT is tripping.
Is there a way to stretch an object? For example, I want to make a door taller, but not wider.
This really doesn't work for me. I can't move the camera with the mouse, Shift+T does nothing, the two mods don't work together and completely mess up the game... I'm sure I'm messing up in some way but I was so excited about it
Shift T doesn’t work you have to shift click an object to get the tool menu
Shift + T works only in build mode. And if you’ve still done that and it still doesn’t work, then you probably didn’t install the other mod, “Better Build Buy”.
Oh you missed the things I don't understand about using the modd itself:
i haven't kept this mod because it flags everything as modded. I don't understand the directions of having to keep turning it off (?) so that it doesn't show as modded on the gallery.
I also don't understand the live edit and debug menu identifiers (like, I'm used to just searching "debug" and scrolling) but this modnchanges that too be in certain categories??
Tbh if I could just use this build mode tool mod without it changing the debug menu I probably would.
TwistedMexi updated Better BuildBuy, it doesn't get flagged as CC anymore and you don't have to restart the game anymore for organized debug. I'm not sure if it's still early access or public already but you don't have to worry about that anymore 😊

Heya!! Thank you so much for putting this up, I’ve watched a lot of how to’s for this mod but it’s never worked! Quick question for you. I have both the tool mod and the better build mod (or whatever it’s called) but now it’s makes my building search (eg row of couches) pop out like extends its to see everything, how do I change this and go back to normal?
I don’t know if I missed it. But how do you turn the orange and green grid off?
Please some one help 😅 i have dow loaded the zip file dragged the map to the mods folder/map where my other ones are aswell but it doesnt work, yes my mods in options are on. I deleted the file once and did it all over again from the start but it wont work help😶

For some reason when I open the folder it has a note saying I downloaded it wrong ? I have no idea what I'm doing wrong they are very simple instructions and I'm following them exactly as instructed. Is anyone else having this problem?

@@pandaliving23 same is showing for me today :/ everything kate is telling its super clear it can not been sayd any better :) but i deleted all files and tryed to download and unzip again , for some reason tool goes perfectly each time i try but the bbb file still shows that error file :/

Is this a good alternative to clutter things on counters? I currently use the omsp shelves or sticks but i find those to not work the greatest all the time
Really don't know what ive been doing wrong with unzipping the bbb file, the tool file was fine right from the beginning but the bbb zip file is not going good even i do exacly the same as the tool file, each time i try to fix the bbb map it shows a file with an error in it saying i have to re read it and try again. all old files were deleted before i had a new try.
how to move this window so that it is on the side like yours? Mine is in the middle and I can't see anything :(

Hi Kate. I've watched the video several times and still can't get TOOL to work. I wrote down your instructions, followed word for word and still nothing. The TOOL files are definitely in my mods. In game it asks me if I want to proceed with using added mods; I check the tick box. The game settings are set for the mods to be allowed. When I toggle t+shift all I get is a top-down view. Can you help? Thanks in advance
How do you get the tool mod to get on the left part of the screen? In my game its in the middel part on top of the other options like mouse hamer etc

hello, kind of a newb question but I've seen speed build and things where they can turn things more precisely like when they turn an object in build mode, a little turn symbol thing pops up without them having to put in numbers and stuff and they can turn it past the basic turn "guidelines", is that part of the T.O.O.L. mod, or is it something else? if anyone knows can they please tell me
