What the sims 4 has is actually what’s known as a grotesque in architectural terms since they are only decorative features upon the building. A gargoyle on the other hand comes from the French to do gargling water and would be a decorative means to remove water from the roof space and water would flow out from the mouth and away from the building. So there’s a little fact for you.
this is the first vampire build of yours that ive seen and honestly, i wish you wouldve kept some of the original build's intended design, like the "wrap-around" balcony at the back, the silhouette of the roofs with the spires and gables, like studying its intention, why its designed like that and how its possibly used, but improving its execution as youve said. Though dont get me wrong, your renovation is amazingly designed,,, its just almost entirely different, ALMOST.
I agree!! I especially wish she kept the balcony hallway thing because it actually is kinda reminiscent of actual Dracula's castle in Romania. Same with its jagged, kinda weird shape. I'm not sure if that's what EA were going for but I thought it was a nice touch.
I agree that the reno just kinda made it into a cool vampire house. I really love when simmers renovate townie homes but so often it goes from an interesting idea to an almost cookie cutter box with maybe some rounded shapes. Like I get it. It’s a style and also easy/accessible for RUclipsrs to show others how to do but it’s resulted in a sort of flat linear pov on building within the community. I think it’s awesome to show others how to play differently but maybe a better way to do these reno videos is ‘styling the build while keeping original ideas/intentions from the og design’. That way we’d get to keep the funky architecture of vlad’s house but just with a way to work them in rather get rid of completely.

Did you know that in Henford-on-bagley the unoccupied cottage in the corner of the world, the one next to where the Scotts live doesn't actually have an outdoor bin.
I never place outdoor bins. I didn't know they were "required" when I first started playing. I always use the "Reduce & Recycle" lot trait and have the Sims rummage for stuff in their garbage to get bits & pieces. No outdoor bin necessary. First time I decided to try one, it got kicked over. @@acebildz1253 oh okay, I completely forgot about the reduce and recycle trait so I never use it. Anyway I always place outdoor bins but never have people over so it can't get kicked over.
When I use the vampire vines I stick em under the get together vines so they look more "real" (at least to me), otherwise I rarely use em except on light colored homes bc the different colors are really pretty against like a cream

I literally sprained my ankle walking that thing, and I didn’t even trip. 😂. Good times. That strip is no joke when it comes to getting around.
...I feel like I'm seeing ideas in the original build that might be lost on you. * the fence and gate were probably there for intimidation factor. Vlad isn't only the original vampire, he is the oldest one and actively the leader... also being actively challenged by the Vatores. * the whole point of the huge two story "living" rooms is probably acoustics for his beloved pipe organ. Acoustics and it being the centrepiece of the entire house so that everyone who might be visiting (or serving there) can flock around and listen. Even from the guestroom upstairs. I think he'd be mad at you for stuffing it into the entranceway. * there is now much less space for him to fly around as mist. I mean, excuse you. Do you know how nasty it is to bump into corners and stuff when you are mist? Please think of your client's needs while doing a reno. ;DDD * finally, I think this place could have used more rooms. An office might be useful. Also (especially) a proper, roofed outdoor sitting room. Keeping the balcony is the right idea, but it's so tiny he can't do anything in there plus the sun would get him anyway. Overall, all of the above does *not* mean I hate the build. I do like it. It's just... it's a Goth house, not a Vlad house. :)
I actually love Vlad's house. It's unique in the good way, the roof is actually very coherent, and I think many simmers are just... scared of the "weird." Also, you can hardly call it a renovation when you, indeed, changed *this* much of the build 💀
I think I'm worse with photos I don't even have a picture of my sister on my phone xD Currently I'm trying to renovate/redo the sims 4 worlds still with their original vibes like willow creeks = new orleans or henford on bagley = english cottage. I also have to stop myself to use every pack I own in my builds I want to upload to the gallery xD I have Cities Skylines 1, but my pc is not good enough for cities skylines 2 well I can always watch yt lps :) Also I want to start a new run in my time at sandrocks as it finally leaves early access :)
The reason I don't like the vines in the Vampire pack, or really any pack, is that they don't go all the way to the ground if the house is on a foundation. Like they just grew straight out of the concrete.
That’s funny because I just started playing sims like a month and a half ago and my beginning builds are all big boxes. They got a little more interesting but still big until the last one I made in horse ranch it’s very small because I wanted to try something I saw. I made a 5 story house on the waterfront big lot in newcrest and it is almost the whole size of the lot. I love it though. I didn’t realize that certain thing cause glitches until I saw a video of someone talking about not wanting to use to much stuff because of glitches, so it can but frustrating to play that house with is me, I live there with my husband and dogs.
I think the worst thing about Vlad's house for me is the stairs to the basement. They clip through the ground and I've struggled so many times to try and fix it without just bulldozing. It's just so irksome.
I look forward to watching your videos everyday. Literally audibly gasped when this video popped up in my notifications because I had been waiting for this renovation to come out.
If you are on PC, your shift key I think let’s you limit the placement so it doesn’t auto place everywhere. If not shift then probably alt. This helped me a lot with those 😅
I just built in horse ranch of the big lot and they have a similar situation where the property is actually much bigger based on the fence. I wish what they would do is have the main lot space to build then let you switch to a certain amount of surrounding space (like to the fence in this video) where they let you go into build mode but that only certain things are available, like landscaping then like putting thinks like stuff to train your animals on and like outdoor stuff.
I like the idea that vlad pit thr gargoyles on the roof so that he can land on the roof and not worry about people seeing him, because if someone seens something with batwings on his roof he can just day it was one of the statues.
great build. been thinking about this pack and what i would do with it. probably the scariest big mansion myself, but at least it aint as horrifying as the Volkihar Castle in Skyrim that there was scary
Love that you're hyperfocused on City Skylines right now! Would love to see you play it on stream maybe! Also, this might be my most favorite Vlad reno ever!

It’s so hard to believe it’s been almost two years since the last renovation of Vlad’s house.
When I use the vampire vines I stick em under the get together vines so they look more "real" (at least to me), otherwise I rarely use em except on light colored homes bc the different colors are really pretty against like a cream
Coming from a Nevadan here.. You talking about the F1 racing and the nightmare that is walking the strip had me remembering the time I visited family there as I’m from the north. I literally sprained my ankle walking that thing, and I didn’t even trip. 😂. Good times. That strip is no joke when it comes to getting around.
I'd make that top floor a spellcaster's altar room. No staircase. Either you have the skills to get up there , or you don't.
Kayla is in her bookcase door era
i build a Addams family mansion there
missed opportunity to say reVAMPED.
...I feel like I'm seeing ideas in the original build that might be lost on you.
Please think of your client's needs while doing a reno. ;DDD
* finally, I think this place could have used more rooms.
To be honest i actually like Vlads house…
I think I'm worse with photos I don't even have a picture of my sister on my phone xD Currently I'm trying to renovate/redo the sims 4 worlds still with their original vibes like willow creeks = new orleans or henford on bagley = english cottage. I also have to stop myself to use every pack I own in my builds I want to upload to the gallery xD
I have Cities Skylines 1, but my pc is not good enough for cities skylines 2 well I can always watch yt lps :)
Also I want to start a new run in my time at sandrocks as it finally leaves early access :)
The reason I don't like the vines in the Vampire pack, or really any pack, is that they don't go all the way to the ground if the house is on a foundation. Like they just grew straight out of the concrete.
But does Vlad need to think of the resale value? He's a vampire living forever, he can just live here - forever. 🤔😁
I didn’t realize that certain thing cause glitches until I saw a video of someone talking about not wanting to use to much stuff because of glitches, so it can but frustrating to play that house with is me, I live there with my husband and dogs.
i renovated his house and made it bigger i feel silly
missed opportunity to call this video reVAMPing Vlad's mansion
Meeting Julien Solomita would have made me day..because I’m a HUGE Jenna Marbles fan
Me, a Formula1 fan: "they had the convention in Vegas"... yeah, terrible timing honestly
The speed on this one is giving me a headache.
Please please PLEASE, do a frieze tips video. Recently I was building and I almost started balling b/c it was so difficult. Thank you!
If you are on PC, your shift key I think let’s you limit the placement so it doesn’t auto place everywhere. If not shift then probably alt. This helped me a lot with those 😅
Kinda look like Goth house 😂🤣 especially the kitchen, even the “purple room” 🙈
yes please to a tutorial for friezes because i struggle so much lol. they don't wanna stay outside.
smh what else would you use a history degree for except for becoming a gargoyle expert /j
Freezes tutorial would literally save my life/vlads life his life is sad without them
I was thinking about Reno Vlad house in sims 4 today!! And there you are, posting a video with it!!! ❤❤❤
I wish there was more, houses like this I generally like Gothic Victorian-Style homes. there is just not enough of them. in the sims 4
I like the idea that vlad pit thr gargoyles on the roof so that he can land on the roof and not worry about people seeing him, because if someone seens something with batwings on his roof he can just day it was one of the statues.
Just what I needed after a long and boring day😌💕
This is where we learn Kayla's never been to Vegas, because it's always under construction and always impossible to get around
she was there this month for twitchcon
@@awdatzyaOP obviously means before this twitchcon, that's why they're saying she doesn't know it's always like that 😂
@@KittyCat260 ohhh i didn't catch that, thanks!
I made Vald a son so he could turn a lots of people into Vampires, I might use this as their house
great build. been thinking about this pack and what i would do with it. probably the scariest big mansion myself, but at least it aint as horrifying as the Volkihar Castle in Skyrim that there was scary
Love that you're hyperfocused on City Skylines right now! Would love to see you play it on stream maybe! Also, this might be my most favorite Vlad reno ever!
I think it's great you kept all the room Vald doesn't need, since this could be his house from before he was a Vampyr too
Never noticed that the back had no windows till just now.
she... re-vamp-ed it
His new kitchen looks like the goths kitchen
It would be nice and helpful if you did make a video of tips for building (including things like friezes)
I remember this stream
You could say that this build was reVAMPed-
To respond to the question of forgetting to take pictures with people, I was looking through my photos the other day and have exactly one photo of my husband and me for the entire year.
Any tutorials you could ever make for building are always wanted Kayla! You are the GOAT
LOL this is exactly what i've been doing all morning!! perfect timing. happy halloween!
You should turn this build into a barbie mansion
Posted a minute ago
I was just on a binge of you're Halloween videos this is great timing
The stairway in the grand entrance reminds of the old Munsters TV show. I expected the staircase to open and Spot would breath fire. 😆
