I get frustrated when my drawing doesnt turn out the way I expect, mostly with fanarts. I know that perfection isn't achieved at a first try; it is well known to me but somewhere I don't want to accept and want a perfect outcome. Also wanting acclamation from others for my work is just another reason that destroys my peace of mind. I am trying to overcome them all, step by step.
    Also thanks for this video🧙

That's great advice, I often set my expectations way above my ability, so I can associate personally with what you are saying... I can only bridge the gap by doing more drawing... and break out of the cycle...but enjoy the process... thanks for this...

I know what you mean. I had to shift toward enjoying the experience without, as you mentioned, too, putting expectations onto the outcome. I've also found though, that the disappointments are useful pointers for me to keep reaching. If I'm disappointed with the lack of expressive mark making, for example, I'll make it a point to focus that. It's a challenge to balance having goals and aspirations with enjoying the experience, but it can be done. Thanks for the video :)

I love the casual drawing as you speak of motivational issues. You have good thoughts and as well as casually drawing animals -I follow along with your sketching. We all get frustrated at times. I find that following along with you when it is not the focus of the tutorial, I can sketch a more loose and comfortably a good likeness of what is being drawn. You are very good at this!!.

I’ve only just started drawing at 65 and I’m not very good at all but I look forward to it everyday, even simple circles and cubes (now doing ovals, cups etc.). Thanks for the videos so inspiring 👍. What were those black and white pens you were using pls ? Regards from England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿👍.

The comparing part is the hard part, If I see a good drawing thinking, oh I can do that and then I try and do it and its 100x lesser in quality. then loop

Nice ideas thanks and well done on getting through that barrier and passing on your advice. I've drawn 'bout twice in over 20 years despite drawing a lot as a kid. I was pleased with the results but the process was a bit excruiciating. I think your idea of approaching it like a child is a good one and that's where my mind has been attempting to go too.

Hey, don't know if you'll reply to this but here goes nothing
I'm 17 and can't decide what I want to pick for post secondary. The plan so far is to take a gap year and let myself figure it out. I started drawing during the pandemic. Never really liked art classes so I never took them. I love to draw--I love writing and being able to draw the people and images I write would be great. Animating them (despite having no experience) and having my own show would be greater. I have big plans and it's hard to snap back into reality. Though, one thing I'm scared of is being too old or not having enough time to do everything I want. Have you ever had these thoughts? How do you cope with them? A lot of my dreams are financially unattainable--I guess, how do you ground yourself? Sorry if this is too heavy. Cheers.

My vertical arc that I draw on the left side are very different than those on the right. All common shapes, or mirror shapes, turn out that way.

I think that instead of using a marker, a good blending stick would work just as well. I love drawing birds, all types.
