    Things I’ve noticed by drawing almost everyday:
    - Builds up my ability to focus andconcentrate for long periods
    - Meditative
    - Obsessive (sometimes)
    - Gradually improving my style
    - Satisfying

    • @goudvisbloem
      @goudvisbloem 3 года назад +4

      Same!
      Focusing gets easier, I personally get better at estimating in advance what will have a nice end result and what doesn't.
      New habits take discipline, until they're habitual but after that it's addictive.
      I also agree with the comfort about making paintings (in my case) that are not as good.

      Thanks for sharing! These are awesome. I've noticed all of these as well too. Especially the meditative and sometimes obsessive part. Very very true. Thank you for your thoughts. Happy drawing! :)

    I've been drawing in my sketchbook every day for the past few months and it's been fun because my goal was to just complete one page a day. I didn't stress about whether a drawing would turn out good or bad, as long as I finished that one page. 80% of the time I was really happy with what I made. And yesterday I finally finished my very first sketchbook, which was really exciting. I've drawn more in the past few months than I have in my entire life. My skills have definitely improved and it has become a habit to the point where I get slightly agitated if I don't draw on a day.
    Also, random but I really like your hands. They'd be a great reference 😂

  • @Magsupyourmind

    I'm drawing every day for 697 days now. And I do experience all these things. I also experience more mental strength. Every day I create something and it makes me really proud of myself.

And I started drawing again, I just opened RUclips and this was the first video. It’s a sign? Or what do you think

    This video completely addressed a comment I posted yesterday. This is perfect for me right now. You are right! Some of these I'm saving to watch repeatedly. Thank you. One of my favoite books, and what just recently brought me back to art again was pulling out my book, The ZEN of Seeing / Drawing by Frederick Franck. It led me to believing I could still draw, for a different purpose than to make something "good" so it took the pressure off. After a month of this free-style practice, I felt guided to RUclips and saw your channel.

      So glad to hear that. That book sounds so familiar so I Google searched it.. I have never read it but I did have one of his other books called the Awakened Eye. So cool! I'm glad it led you back to drawing and expressing yourself. Hope you are enjoying the process.

    Schaefer, you've always been their to provide us with your advice and tips. I just wanted to say thank you for that, and I hope that you know how much you mean to us. As we expand on our artist skills we come to the realization that art is what you make and the way you do it, and that perfection isn't what you should be striding for. Thank you for teaching us that lesson.

    i try to draw every day, but i have 2 giant problems: 1: while i do improve, since i have improved my anatomy skills, i improve at such a slow rate, it's like i'm not improving at all. i'm not happy with how slowly i'm improving. 2: i have a tendency to compare my stuff to other much greater artists and i think: "oh, i can never reach that level" or "i could practice until the end of time, and i'll never be that good." or something similar. i try and not think of comparing my stuff in a bad way like that, but it happens.

    • @SchaeferArt
      @SchaeferArt  3 года назад

      We all struggle with these 2 things, no doubt. Only thing I can say is to get rid of all your expectations and just enjoy the process of drawing. If you're improving, even slowly (you feel), it's still better than no improvements. And for comparing to other great artists - welcome to the club haha. But really, you just gotta compare yourself to your past self - not to others. We are all at different levels and different places in the journey. Just try to have fun and enjoy everything you do with it. Don't worry about all the other nonsense.

    • @ahedjehad8514
      @ahedjehad8514 3 года назад

      @@SchaeferArt i do actually compare my recent stuff to my older works, and that is one way of how i see that i have improved. i still need to work on my attitude towards this thing. i also am not sure on how to practice. yes, i have books, but i have been told that the books i have are more for people who already know how to draw those things. and i have tried tutorials on youtube and on other websites and most of the time, it's just confusing for me. i don't know how to work on my stuff other than to just draw. so, any help on that aspect would be greatley appreciated. :)

      @@SchaeferArt i have an interest in manga, and i mostly, if not often or almost all the time, draw people. like i have said earlier, i have noticed an improvement in anatomy, but i still need to practice proportions, since most of the times, i tend to draw characters with one arm longer than the other. :P i also have a very tough time drawing hair and hands. :) mostly hair, though. :)
