I tried making jelly from fruit juice at least 3x and failed . Even when going back and trying to redo the batch it was a fail. I was only able to make jams with the juice AND pulp :-( .
Great idea to dry that huge can of pineapple! I could save money on a large can but never use it up before it spoiled so now I have a way to save and make yummy food.
My local grocery store had fresh pineapple for $1 not long ago. I snapped them up! Diced it and put it in the dehydrator. It tastes SO good! Almost like candy. If you have fresh pineapple I would go with that vs. canned for flavor. I didnt have any left to rehydrate. My people ate it all!
I have a dehydrator with no temp or turn dials on it. Its only plug in with a cord. I think I end up burning everything because I don't know how soon to remove the food. I tried pineapple the other say, left in there for 2days . The itty bitty slivers, are all crispy and brown. :-(
I have found that when dehydrating rice I make the rice ahead of time, put it in a container in the fridge a d let it get cold first, then put it on my dryer trays. It still clumps up but breaks apart a bit easier.
Did you know, that the fan on these round Harvester/Nesco dehydrators doesn't create an evenly distributed airflow up through the stalks. Therefore it is beneficial to turn the entire stalk about 90 degrees about every hour. And of course with tall stacks of trays, rotating trays from top to bottom is essential to even drying. I do quite of bit of apple slices for eating/treats, and it is more important for edible treats to get even drying so not to "crisp-dry" the apple slices. I also found that soaking the apple slices overnight in the lemon water produces a more gummy/soft apple slice treat after dehydrating.
This is so old, I don't know if you will see the comment; but I tried a recipe the other day that used the juice from the pineapple can to cook the rice. I think it was about 1/2 the liquid. It was amazing.
Hi Linda! Love your videos! It's helped me soooo much with dehydrating and meals in a jar! Thank you very much! My question is: I'm dehydrating canned pineapple chunks that i drained.....on 125 heat for over 24 hrs....and they are still a bit bendable, and not dropping like a rock like yours do on the video....Just dry longer?? Thanks for doing this for all of us! Karen from Texas
Hi Linda. Your videos are great. I am just learning to dehydrate and can food. You couldn't be more helpful. I am learning so much from you. I have been storing long grain white rice. If I cook it, can it be dehydrated too? I would like to start making my own meals in a jar to just add water.
Hi Linda. I have been thinking about making jelly and I wonder have ever made jelly using the juice from store bought canned fruit like pineapple or peaches. I think that jelly made from pineapple juice and jalapeno peppers would be awesome. Thank you, this is a great video.
I'm new at this and would love to make meals in a jar. Before I begin I would like to know do you sterilize your jars, lids, & rings before adding your dehydrated goods? Btw I love your videos, you make it look so uncomplicated and easy to follow. Thanks for the wonderful info!
We love the dehydrated fruit, haven't done pineapple but will now. Any idea how long the syrup from the fruit keeps? Nice touch adding the bonus recipe. yum
I am new to your Channel I did not know you can cook the brown rice and then turn around and dehydrate. And I did not know you can do canned pineapples I got about seven big pineapples didn't know what to do I am so glad I came across your Channel thank you so very much for these videos I do a lot of canning but I did not know you could do that boy and I'm going to have fun to hydrate thank you so very much. And I'm wanting to know can you do the white rice that way
Hello Linda, I'm new. Quick question, if you don't have the canning attachment for the food saver, how long does the dehydrated food keeps in the jars?
long time after you did this but choko's mashed and soaked in the pine apple juice will create a huge amount of pineapple flavoured fruit rollups , chokos take on other tastes , look whats in mac D's apple pie ..
Hi Linda, it seems strange writing that name right now, My mother passed right at Christmas time and I was in California she being back home in Texas. My sister waited to tell me until Christmas day, Nice right? Any way I was looking at the # 10 cans of fruit you had there and was wondering can I or would I do the peaches and other fruits the same way as you did the pineapple? As for the rice I have some that is moist in a Mylar pouch this is the way it came. I have had it now about 1 1/2 years. Should I dehydrate it now in case it does not keep or leave it as it is? It is a brown rice with a couple things added into it.
Folks, there is unsettling information about -- rice, and two points of contention -- GMO and contaminations of arsenic and other toxins. As far as we know at this time, the only rice that is not GMO comes from India. And this gets worse. All the rice grown in the USA is loaded with -- arsenic. Rice from other countries besides India must also be loaded with arsenic as there are profound concerns. You have to remove the arsenic before you cook and eat that rice. The big question is rice you want to store. Do you leave that rice as is and just store it dry, or do you remove the arsenic, dry the rice and store it -- or do you wait and remove the arsenic from measured amounts of rice you want to cook? There are problems all over the place with this situation. For example, if you cook and dehydrate the rice, two toxins form. It's bad stuff. If you just put it in storage as is in the bag, and it's there for a while, will you be able to successfully remove all the arsenic from really really hardened rice? Because of this mess, I am removing all the rice from our storage -- and kitchen pantry until the authorities do something about this situation.
Arsenic is found in the ground, Rice is grown in the ground. The levels of arsenic found in rice is insignificant. You don't have anything to worry about, if you are then you should remove any fish from your pantry sine there are levels of mercury found in fish.
This is completely off base. By the way I just love all your videos you are a wealth of Knowledge. Where did you find the egg tree I am so looking for one ?
I'm trying to figure out how you seal your jars and they end up with a regular lid. Any Food Saver or vacuum sealer that I've seen only uses their "special lid" with a hole in the top. I know I'm missing something and would love to hear how you use yours. Great videos - thanks!
Hi Linda, Loved your video and had a question. I have a dehydrator but havent used it yet. I needed to know if you need to put something on the trys before putting your fruit on it? I afraid it wont work. And thanks for sharing the brown rice dehydrating it.. never thought about that. I am sharing with my daughter because she does brown rice. So if her and her husband hike she can care some of that and do a meal. Thanks
Is there any issue with storing brown rice for long term? Someone on another video said there are oils in it that make it less suitable for long term storage in mylar bags. I'm sure canning would be different.
Hello Linda! Thank you for all you do and all of your posts! I have a question about making the instant rice: Can this process be done with organic long grain wild rice? I'm trying to make some healthy changes and this is my preferred choice of rice. Any insights, hints, or outright answers are very welcome!
Color Tree Creations I would like to know that also. I understand that brown rice is not good to have for long term food storage but was wondering if cooking the rice first would change that.
Linda, can one sprout brown rice then cook it to further process by dehydrating it for long term food storage? Will the nutrition remain high? Thank you.
Will that work for dehydrating white rice as well? Here in Hawaii everyone (other than me) eats white sticky rice with every meal. I'm trying to figure out a way to make dehydrated meals with the rice here.
Hi Linda, Loved this video. I know what I'm doing this weekend. I have several large bags of rice that have been opened so I need to use them up. Would this help keep the bugs out of them. I don't have a food saver (yet) so I'm wondering if by dehydrating it, it would be safe from bugs in gallon jars. I'm curious because I had to throw out 3 gallon jugs of rice last year because of bugs. I now put bay leaves in all my storage and it has helped.
Linda I just discovered your videos and they are great. One question on the rice though, I have read that for long term storage you should use white rice instead of brown because the oils in the brown rice will go rancid within a year. Your thoughts?
I'm sorry, I don't understand your language. How many hours and how much temperature? I am always afraid of mold, but I often use 40 degrees (device 35-70). Thank you very much
Hey, im trying to frozen dehydrate southern style hashbrowns...potatoe cubes..they seem to have oil on them...does the brand you purhase have oil on them and if so did they work out ok?thanks for ur videos !
Fantastic I love the idea of the rice Linda. That pineapple looks awesome rehydrated also. How good is the rice after rehydrating it? Given its coked already, does it go really soft or crumbly? Can it hold up to say a stir fry?
I freeze the syrup into "ice cubes" and use it in my rum and coke or in my ice tea..
next time you want to do rice cook it put in frig. for a day and when you bring it out of ice box it will easily fall apart to dehydrate.
Hi Linda, I always buy fruit in 100% juice, and use the juice for making jellies, kinda like getting a 2 for 1 bargain....Blessings
Is 100% fruit juiced fruit hard for dehydrating though vesus the syrup infused?
I tried making jelly from fruit juice at least 3x and failed . Even when going back and trying to redo the batch it was a fail. I was only able to make jams with the juice AND pulp :-( .
Can you share a recipe ?
When I drain the juice or syrup from cans, I freeze it into ice cube trays, once frozen product gets put in freezer bags for smoothies.
AWESOME idea !!!

Really enjoy you not only the dehydrating process, but what it looks like afterward, and when you rehydrate. Very helpful!
You are so talented and sweet! i have learned so much from you thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Great idea to dry that huge can of pineapple! I could save money on a large can but never use it up before it spoiled so now I have a way to save and make yummy food.
I get such a giggle out of you "taste testing"everything for us. You are so sweet & your videos are very informative.
I love you for the instant rice idea.

Dehydrated pineapple is great with sugar sprinkled over it while it's still warm, yum!
I so love dehydrated pineapple!!!! Yum
Going to dehydrated my fresh pineapples 🍍 thank you for the tips.
Thank You, Linda 😀

Yea! I didn't know you taught dehydrating as well. I just bought one, but haven't tried it yet.
You can use the pineapple juice to make homemade Hawaiian sweet bread.
I love your videos and my wonderful husband got me an excaliber for Christmas I love it
love your videos and ideas please keep them coming.
My new Excalibur is going to be here on Monday. SO EXCITED!!! This will be my first project. Already have pineapples!

Pro trick : watch series on flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies recently.
@Gianni Colson yea, I've been watching on Flixzone} for since november myself =)

Fascinating! Never thought about doing rice like that. Going to the store to give it a try. I also like the pineapple. Thank you for the inspiration.
Outstanding, thanks for sharing. I will be dehydrating both very soon!
great way to make minute rice. Pineapple is a great snack.
I love your dehydrator videos. I am testing my machine today. I have a feeling, a new one is in my future.
I use fresh pineapples. .. no fructose corn syrup
Does fresh pineapple dehydrate ok?
Hi Linda!! I'll bet that pineapple would have been tasty with the rice.
Thanks for all you do! :) ~Diane
Haha...I was just telling her while I was watching her taste them both, to put the pineapple in the rice! lol
This will be added to my pantry.
I wanted to say thank you for all your great videos. I have cooked rice in the dehydrator right now. Keep em coming!
I like that idea!

You are such a wonderful wealth of knowledge and beautiful, too. Love ya!

Can you dehydrate sprouts? Alfalfa spouts, bean sprouts etc.....
Mix the rice & pineapple together......yummy.
We love the dehydrated fruit, haven't done pineapple but will now. Any idea how long the syrup from the fruit keeps? Nice touch adding the bonus recipe. yum
I save my juice to use when I make hawaiian rolls! Sure love all your recipes Linda, never had a fail!

Hello Linda, I'm new. Quick question, if you don't have the canning attachment for the food saver, how long does the dehydrated food keeps in the jars?
You can toss an O2 absorber in the jar for longer storage
long time after you did this but choko's mashed and soaked in the pine apple juice will create a huge amount of pineapple flavoured fruit rollups , chokos take on other tastes , look whats in mac D's apple pie ..

you could make pineapple juice ice cubes and put that into your lemonade.... yummmm
This is completely off base. By the way I just love all your videos you are a wealth of Knowledge. Where did you find the egg tree I am so looking for one ?
I think she received it as a gift
Linda, I'm fairly new to your channel but you've inspired me to buy a dehydrator and I can't wait to get started.
Got me an excalibur dehydrator. Can't wait to use it.
Fantastic video, thanks for sharing x
Oh no! I'm late to the party and your wild tree link isn't there with the recipe. 😢. Love your shows. 🥰
Try drying grape tomatoes, its just like candy! Keep up the great videos!!

Looks delicious.
If I buy can fruit I save the juice if it is juice and not syrup. I then can use it in pancakes or smoothies and also to make oatmeal.
Is there any issue with storing brown rice for long term? Someone on another video said there are oils in it that make it less suitable for long term storage in mylar bags. I'm sure canning would be different.
Always awesome
Could you "steam" the rice in a steamer instead of having it sit in hot water?
I just love ur videos keep it up plz
I love your videos what is the kettle you are using called, do you have an amazon link for it?
Hello Linda! Thank you for all you do and all of your posts!
I have a question about making the instant rice:
Can this process be done with organic long grain wild rice?
I'm trying to make some healthy changes and this is my preferred choice of rice. Any insights, hints, or outright answers are very welcome!
First thing I'm buyin when I win the Lotto is us two chickies an Excalibur thingie, you betchya. Great job sistah
Will the brown rice last longer than the suggested 6 months since you cooked it before and then dehydrated it?
Color Tree Creations I would like to know that also. I understand that brown rice is not good to have for long term food storage but was wondering if cooking the rice first would change that.
I was wondering the same thing.
@@karenallen1730 Me as well, but several years later no answer......
VICTOR EOUS I suspect not much. It’s that brown rice contains some fat that causes rancidity and cooking probably wouldn’t remove much.
I Would think that if you’re using mylar bags and oxygen absorbers, it would work out perfectly and it would last for 20 years.
Can you place the dehydrated food in vacuum sealed bags? Rather than jars and vacuuming out air?
Linda, can one sprout brown rice then cook it to further process by dehydrating it for long term food storage?
Will the nutrition remain high? Thank you.
Ok great so how do you do that?
Thank you:)
Pineapple is my favorite candy!
Will that work for dehydrating white rice as well? Here in Hawaii everyone (other than me) eats white sticky rice with every meal. I'm trying to figure out a way to make dehydrated meals with the rice here.
Yesw it will cook much faster:)
You just need to wipe off the fan blades on the vertical dehydrator. Theres nothing to do with the age of it. Its just dirty blades reducing air flow.
Thanks for this information. I’ve watched many videos but have not heard this mentioned.
I haven't missed the recipe you were referring did I? I don't see anything posted yet that looks like it. Just making sure! :)
Darling I’m trying to find a vacuum sealer and I don’t wanna waste my money. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Make pineapple vinegar!! It is so good!!
How many did you get from it?
Can you freeze in ice cube trays then put into bags?
Hi Linda, Loved this video. I know what I'm doing this weekend. I have several large bags of rice that have been opened so I need to use them up. Would this help keep the bugs out of them. What is the storage time on the rice and pineapple vacuum sealed please?

The pineapple juice would be amazing in a cake.
Nice... Love it :)
What do you do w the rice to relate later. I’ve got LOTS of rice in storage and would love to do this!
Linda, please don't forget to tell us what the #10 can is. I think its 96 or 128 OZ.
@John D, she said 6 lbs, so guess 96 oz
Can you get the fruits to where they are really crispy so they can be powdered?
Linda where did you buy your lid opener trying to find one. Please thankyou
Thank you for these great ideas :D
Love this ty for sharing. :)
Fantastic I love the idea of the rice Linda. That pineapple looks awesome rehydrated also. How good is the rice after rehydrating it? Given its coked already, does it go really soft or crumbly? Can it hold up to say a stir fry?
I am getting ready to make meals in a jar, what should I dehydrate so I can make the meals?
Should pineapple be hard or soft and chewy when it's done?
I dehydrated three large cans of pineapple and in the Excalibar it took me 22 hours long time I thought
